    Hi Teresa. When we read about God "sold them" (as in Judges 2:14; Judges 3:8; Judges 4:2; etc.), the meaning is not that God wanted to trade Israel for money or goods. Rather, that God 'gave them over, or giving the control of them to another power which is not of God'. When God handed over Israel to anyone else, Israel lost the blessings & privileges of being God's children & became vassals of gentile nations. When Israel came to her senses and repented, God in His great mercy, received them back to Himself.

    Question? Judges 3:8 God sold them, for what???? Why, He sold them? I understand His anger, but what did He sell them for? God doesn't need money or anything for that matter.. What did He sell them for? I've noticed God sell them alot in next few chapters, which has raised a few questions, I try hard not to lean unto my own understanding, but this one has confused my inner being.

    Hello . I believe something slightly different to Gianni's . I do not believe that the Holy Spirit is a separate being from God . This is not a common belief amongst Christians but I can assure you it's not exactly unheard of either . The Spirit of the Lord or the Spirit of God is a very common phrase in the Old Testament and even pops up in the New . There are very many references that I could give but I will just give a few . If you have a concordance you can look these things up for yourself . Genesis 1 : 2 , Genesis 6 : 3 , Genesis 41 : 38 , Exodus 32 : 3 , Exodus 35 : 31 , Numbers 11 : 29 , Numbers 24 : 2 , Judges 3 : 10 , Judges 6 : 35 , Judges 11 : 29 , Judges 13 : 25 , Judges 14 : 6 , 1st Samuel 16 : 13 , 2nd Samuel 23 : 2 . Matthew 10 : 20 , Matthew 12 : 28 , Luke 4 : 18 , John 15 : 26 . Acts 8 : 39 , Romans 8 : 9 , Romans 8 : 14 , Romans 15 : 19 , 1st Corinthians 3 : 16 , 1st John 4 : 2 . There are a lot more . I hope my reply hasn't confused you , best thing to do is to read everything through for yourself , God wants you to know and understand His Truth and He will help you to do so . Enjoy your voyage of discovery .

    Judges 3:12

    3 Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

    2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

    The Lord does not deliver Christians from all besetting sins at salvation. He leaves some for Christians to struggle with to help them learn and grow in the Lord.

    Hello Jeremiah. This account that you refer to, begins at John 3:10, as Jesus continues His talk with Nicodemus. Jesus has just given him a very strange Word (or, concept): that this new spiritual re-birth from God has nothing to do with a physical re-birth. And so when Nicodemus enquires further, Jesus states, that as a master (i.e. teacher or doctor of the Law) in Israel, he should have understood & be conversant with such a Truth. He should have known of God's Spirit working upon & within many people (e.g. Numbers 27:18; Judges 3:9,10; 1 Samuel 10:9,10; Ezekiel 36:26-28; Isaiah 11:1-5); that the self-same Spirit Who could come upon people could also one day give them a new Spirit within them to worship God & live through His Power - a new life acceptable to God, even as God gave His Spirit to accomplish His Purposes in those of olden days.

    Then Jesus continues to speak with Nicodemus; that what he is hearing now is coming from One Who knows & Who has seen the working of God's Spirit. And further (in John 3:13), Jesus says that there has been no one to have gone into Heaven to learn of these things & bring them to people, but only the One Who was always in Heaven & has come down from Heaven.

    Jesus' Words here don't just speak of life after death, but specifically about those who did rise (whether in spirit or in the first resurrection), who did not return back to share this Truth about rebirth with them; people living now could not learn this Truth from anyone, but from the Son of Man Who is the Son of God, coming from God & bringing it to man. And Nicodemus should have understood at least a little of what Jesus was saying to him, because of his knowledge of the Scriptures.

    And yes, true, there'll be a day when God will bring forth a new Earth, devoid of any stain of evil, where all of Heaven & Earth will reside ( Revelation 21:1-7), and all sinners (unrepentant, remaining enemies of God & the Cross of Christ), will only be found in the Lake of Fire (v8).

    The Holy Spirit did exist & manifest itself in people prior. Genesis 1:2, Genesis 6:3, Genesis 41:38, Judges 3:10, Judges 6:3, Judges 11:29, 1 Samuel 11:6-7, 1 Samuel 16:13, 2 Kings 2:9,

    1 Samuel 16:14, 1 Samuel 19:20,

    There are more references. Here are some more study references. Hope this helps.

    appears to be different in the manifestation unto many people at the same time with many events occurring.

    Also people being able to transfer the HOLY Spirit to another seems to appear after CHRIST was resurrected from death & the grave. Acts 1, Acts 9:17,31, Acts 10:44, Acts 11:15,16, Acts 13:52, Acts 19:1-11,

    Ephesians 5:9, Galatians 3:14, Romans 8:1,

    Please read the WORD of GOD,

    Deuteronomy 31:19

    Now therefore write ye this song for you, and TEACH IT the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

    Titus 2:4

    That they may TEACH the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children (and TEACH THEM TO PRAY)

    Jeffrey, Thin logic? Scripture is thin logic?

    The Holy Ghost is called God, Jesus is God and the Father is also.

    Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to LIE to the HOLY GHOST, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ...thou hast not lied unto men, but unto GOD.

    Each Person of the Godhead SPEAKS AUDIBLY in the Bible--

    God the Father SAID of Jesus in Matthew 3:17 ..."This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

    Jesus SAID in John 10:30, " I and my Father are one."

    The Holy Ghost SAID in Acts 13:2, ..."Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them."

    Genesis 1:26-27, And God said, LET US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God [not angels. the "us" can only refer to God.] created he him;

    In the Old Testament, we find that God has a Son ( Proverbs 30:4, Psalm 2:7-12) and a Spirit ( Isaiah 40:13, 2 Samuel 23:2, Judges 3:10, etc.).

    I Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

    The Godhead and salvation.

    The Holy Ghost reproves us, teaches us, guides us and testifies of Jesus Christ.

    John 14:26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me:

    God is consistent. His righteousness prevails regardless of the circumstances. No one disobeys God and wins His approval. God Judges and deals rightly with any sinful act as demonstrated in Judges 3.
