Discuss Job 25

The "emotions" of God: Covenant relationships and their implications.

My previous posting mentioned covenants as a major facet in explaining the reactions of God toward His own children as a focus but having repercussions for the whole earth. God has established this world itself for eternal purposes; and He will have a new heaven and earth to eventually rectify the sin issue once and for all. Death; of course entered the picture and marred everything on earth and even apparently in the heavens as even the stars aren't pure in His sight ( Job 25:5).

The first "marriage" may not seem as such without any formal ceremony but nonetheless God designed it with Eve being taken out of man to be a permanent covenant. They would of course have lived forever without sin (likely without the tree of life) but nonetheless they would have ensured it by eating from that tree. But they were entranced with another; that of the knowledge of good and evil. Of course that name basically is something Satan implied it represented; God had just said not to eat the tree in the midst of the garden without going into further detail. My point here is that this covenant between man and woman to be repeated up to this day was originally designed to be for life and like all other covenants we can violate it or apparently "break" it but on God's end it remains binding. This goes to any scriptural vows where God's name is invoked as well (although that can be permanent). Since man sinned death now is the only permissible way this lifetime commitment can be broken the way I see it.

I have discussed before the situation with the Gibeonites who tricked Israel to make a covenant with them and it was therefore binding as to the terms agreed on. These terms exist with property covenants as well; and also to the Promised Land as promised to the Patriarchs to this day (again some would argue with that). This gives God's hot wrath an explanation to this day for enemy invaders.

    Judgment is coming

    First Timothy 5:24 states:

Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

What is interesting is the next verse which contrasts this with good works that also become clear even if they start off being hidden.

The effects of sin are what is known as bad fruit. The cause of sin is of course from a corrupt and fallen nature (see Jeremiah 17:9 on the state of a human heart without saving grace).

    James 3:6 states this:

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

This figurative expression no doubt will eventually lead to one's destruction in fire; as well as the destruction of the earth in like manner as we see stated in 2 Peter 3:10 and numerous other verses. God made everything good; but the fall of man led to death for all forms of life; as well as even the stars not being pure in His sight ( Job 25:5 seems to corroborate this with Job 15:15). He is going to create therefore a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells ( 2 Peter 3:13 and see Revelation 21 and 22.)

God had to bring a total cure for the total corruption in what was made originally pure in His sight (see Ecclesiastes 7:29). This brought Christ part of the Godhead to personally die as our atonement and also of course to restore all nature from the fall which consummates when He returns and eventually at the end of the Millennium when the last enemy death is destroyed ( 1 Cor. 15:26). Judgment comes to the angelic realm who fell after Lucifer's rebellion. Some have already been judged ( 1 Peter 3:19-20 also read book of Jude). The rest of mankind; of course lives on borrowed time and because God is patient to ensure all His elect come to Him people try to get away with all they can ( Ecclesiastes 8:11).

    Brother Ronald Whittemore:

    I agree with you.

Brother S Spencer is correct that from the beginning Christ was perfect, being the image of his Father.

But the word says he LAID DOWN that perfection and took on the form of sinful flesh.

He walked in that condition until he was BAPTISED by his Father, having the fullness of his Father's Spirit poured out on him.

Isaiah 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord, and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, nor reprove after the hearing of his ears.

Job 25:4 How can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

Hebrews 5:1 For every high priest (the man Jesus Christ) taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins,

Hebrews 5:2 That he can have compassion on the ignorant, and them that are out of (I am) THE WAY; for that he himself is compassed with infirmity.

Psalms 5:3 By reason thereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

Read Psalms 69, It's Christ speaking, this will open a whole new can of worms.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto them, if they hear not MOSES and the PROPHETS, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose

    from the dead.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto you, that after the way they (the church) call HERESY, so worship I the God of my fathers; believing ALL THINGS written in the LAW and the PROPHETS.

Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, they came many unto him in his lodging, to whom he expounded and testified the KINGDOM of GOD, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Most don't believe ALL THINGS written in MOSES and the PROPHETS.

Psalms 149:9 To execute upon them the judgement written, this honoru hath all his saints.

Isaiah 26:9 ... for when thy judgements (administered by the saints) are in the earth (second resurrection), the world WILL LEARN righteousness.

Psalms 22:27 All the ends of the world SHALL REMEMBER (when they are resurrected and judged by the saints) AND TURN (repent) unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

Isaiah 66:24 And they (the saints) shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me, for their (the saints) WORM shall not die; neither shall their (the saints') FIRE be quenched, and they (the saints) shall be and abhorring to all flesh.

Job 25:6 And much less man, that is a worm?and the son or man WHICH IS A WORM.

    MAJESTY

    Pt 3

We should be mindful of our personal view of God and regularly check ourselves and ask questions such as:

Do I esteem God above all else?

Do I stand in awe of Him?

Do I consider all of His majestic ways?

Do I believe what He said when it is wrong to think that He is altogether UNlike us, being absolutely unique and unparalleled.

    Ex. 8:10; Job 9:3; 1 Kgs. 8:23; Is. 46:9

Dominion and awe belong to God Job 25:2

He is a great and awesome God Dt. 7:21

Do I have high and lofty thoughts of God?

Do I tremble because of His splendor and majesty?

If the answer is no to these questions, then one should study what the Scriptures say about His majesty. In doing so, one will expand their view of Him and swell up with praise and honor to Him.

So, in His pure Being, God is truly above and beyond all else. We worship a God that cannot be totally searched out. We can never exhaust the depths of His perfections.

All these ideas speak to His transcendence-His Otherness in relation to his creatures and created things.

But He is also majestic in His eminence-His nearness and involvement and relationship to His creatures.

And the most majestic aspect of His eminence is the incarnation of Jesus.

    Heb. 1:3 Col. 1:15

Jesus is the image of the invisible God-the exact representation of His Being, the brightness of the Father's glory, the express

image of the person of the Father. Jesus, being God, humbled Himself by taking on humanity into His deity and glorified

God in His perfect humanity as He does in His perfect deity. He brought the glory of God to mankind. He showed us the Father.

    John 10 explains this well.

How blessed we are that God bent low for us in giving us His divine Son to show us the majesty of His grace and mercy in

    salvation in Christ.

And in viewing the eminence of God in Christ, we can ask these questions.

Do I value the coming of Jesus as the most important thing in all of history?

Do I treat Jesus as the King He is?

    The Holiness of God.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty ( Rev. 4:8). This aspect of the Lord which should characterize our daily praise was a topic a friend of mine from out of town who I'm visiting next week brought up. He; as I am is highly supportive of the "grace gospel" (i.e. God's sovereign plan of election giving no credit toward man for any of his own righteousness in being saved). It is true; however that many of our houses of worship are more caught up in an academic exercise when it comes to the "institutes of Calvin" than spending a time worshipping a Holy God who condescended to save any worms like me. ( Job 25:6). He; who is the creator of all things is above all; so that even the stars are impure in His sight ( Job 25:5).

There are truly heavenly joys that we cannot comprehend now. ( Psalm 16:11). Everyone; from Daniel and Isaiah and Ezekiel in the O.T. and John in Revelation fall in awe and wonder at His presence. It is a true statement that God is love ( 1 John 4:8); but we need to view this in light of 1 Cor. 13:4-8. We must; therefore also see His grace along with His judgments in light of His righteousness; and eternal omnipotence as the King of Kings; Lord of Lords. God does not change; and if we remain in Him we shall never be moved (see Proverbs 10:30). Heaven and earth will perish before one "jot and tittle" of the law perish ( Matthew 5:18). Since this is New Testament; surely this refers to the true meaning of the law and the motives of our hearts.

May we; although flawed be characterized by a unique reverence for God so we can be known as just men ( Matthew 1:19). To be salt and light; we must be distinct from the world and through the fear of the Lord comes the beginning of understanding ( Prov. 1:7; 9:10; etal). If we put to death the deeds of the flesh through the Spirit ( Colossians 3:5; Romans 8:13) then we can let His Spirit transform us ( Romans 12:2). Let us begin each day with praise. Agape; Rich P

2 Peter 3:10 states that the "elements" will be destroyed with fire. That in Greek is said to be the smallest particle; i.e. the atomic structure. There is no understanding as there isn't with many fundamental physical properties in nature what is holding everything together from the neutrons; electrons and protons in the atomic scale to whole galaxies and the cause of gravity; etc. Nor is there a fundamental understanding of WHY the 2nd law of thermodynamics; i.e. that of decay of all things or death itself happens. We know from the Word that even the stars are not pure in His sight; although they are all named. ( Job 25:5; Psalm 147:4).

At this point; I don't know about you but this concept is absolutely terrifying when we consider that we are made from the dust.

When this occurs will be the final Great White Throne judgment of Rev. 20. That is when the wicked are judged; I am not a Post-Millennium person so I believe that those who are of the church now will have been in glorified bodies and clearly "not harmed by the second death" ( Rev. 2:11). This thought of the fate of the wicked I really can't bear to think about.

So; for now it certainly gives us more than ample incentive to preach the Word; in and out of season ( 2 Tim. 4:2). It gives us confidence knowing that all enemies of God in particular Satan who mess with us now are going to be judged. Through the Spirit we can love our enemies; while still realizing that it is not up to us to seal their fate; but to be a faithful witness so that we can receive a full reward ( Psalm 126:5-6). It also helps us to move past all those worldly desires that would threaten to undo us; and have a healthy fear of the Lord. Remember He chastises all He loves. ( Hebrews 12:6). In the meantime; the coming Tribulation and birth pangs are all part of the process to refine us as well as draw those who He has called for His own.

We all need each other as we see the Day draw near.

There is; as can be seen from the other commentaries and from studying scripture itself no clear definition here. i find it interesting; as a theory that it was sort of the opposite of the Tree of Life. We know from the end of Revelation that plants will exist for healing ( Rev. 22:2). The Tree of Life as has been also discussed in other forum responses is now in heaven from what we can see. It would seem; therefore that the knowledge of good and evil is a sort of opposite "tree of death." There is some reason to believe that as the Tree of Life would literally allow for living forever as Genesis indicates; the other tree instigated death in some sense; along with the spiritual implication of rebellion could very well be some sort of genetic change that would cause cells to become compromised from their original design; and allow for death throughout the earth's other animal and plant kingdoms; and ultimately even the moon and stars not being pure in His sight ( Job 25:5). Satan himself has tried apparently to mess with the genetic makeup when his emissaries had relations with man; and perhaps the mark of the Beast causes a change where human DNA no longer is such but some hybrid (similar to literal relations with women and their offspring in the past by Nephilim).

It should be pointed out that indeed God does know the difference between good and evil; but He himself cannot sin; nor imagine rebellion. We as Christians are told to be "wise as serpents; innocent as doves." ( Matt. 10:16). Once we internalized sin; literally and figuratively there is no turning back. Ultimately; we regain life; in the order that it was lost; first spiritual then physical in the Resurrection. We are restored with a right relation with our Creator; but in a different plan from the original one through Christ's atoning and interceding method. It is sobering to consider Gen. 3:15 in light of the cost to God's Son as well as our own individual and corporate loss to all men.

This is a Prophecy, and it contradicts your understanding of the parable of Lazarus and the rich man.

Isaiah 66:23 And it shall COME TO PASS, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall ALL FLESH come to WORSHIP before me, saith the Lord.

Isaiah 66:24 And they (all flesh, worshipping God) shall go forth and look upon the carcases of the men (themselves) that have transgressed against me; for their (all flesh, worshipping God) worm shall not die, neither shall their (all flesh, worshipping God) fire be quenched, and they (all flesh, worshipping God) shall be an abhorring to all flesh (themselves).

Lesley, How do you know if it is bad.

Joseph, was sold into slavery by his brothers, cast into prison for ten years, but look what Joseph learned:

Genesis 50:20 But as for you (Joseph's brothers), ye thought evil against me: but God meant it to good, TO BRING TO PASS, as it is this day, TO SAVE MUCH PEOPLE ALIVE.

God does nothing, even causing what appears to be bad, that doesn't turn out to be perfect.

We can't see the END, from the BEGINNING, he can:

Brother Adam, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Why do you BELIEVE FIRE is literal of physical fire. Why is the worm that never DIES a literal or physical worm.

Christ SAID my words are SPIRIT, therefore the fire is spirit, the worm is spirit.

Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man (SPIRIT, TRUTH, LIFE), which is A WORM?

Hebrews 12:29 For OUR GOD (SPIRIT, TRUTH, LIFE) is a consuming FIRE.

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery .... CHRIST IN YOU....the fire (spirit of Christ) that DESTROYS and PURIFIES is never quenched but IMMORTAL. The worm (spirit of Christ) that DESTROYS flesh and never DIES but is IMMORTAL.

We are the vessel (POT) the fire and the worm are the potter (CREATOR).

Psalms 104:30 Thou (the Father) sendest (SENT the Son) thy Spirit (of Christ), they (the vessels) are CREATED (by the WORKS of SPIRIT) (the fire and the worm): thou RENEWEST the face of the earth.

Chad, may the Spirit grace you with his (spiritual) understanding and his (spiritual) wisdom.

Romans 8:20 For the creature (creation) was made subject to vanity, not willing, but by reason of him (the creator) who hath subjected the same (creation), in hope.

Eve sinned because she was created subject to vanity.

All flesh sins because we were created subject to vanity; but we were also created in hope.

Romans 8:21 Because the creature (creation) itself shall be delivered (by the creator) from the bondage of corruption into the glorious LIBERTY of the children of God.

Job 15:14 What is man (flesh), that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Job 25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman (flesh)?

"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?" God has sent His Son into the world in the flesh to give His life to save the world. Jesus Christ came in the flesh to reconcile us to God, to undo the works of the devil in making men sin, and by breaking the bonds of sin and darkness by His own blood. There is NO OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN given among men whereby we must be saved!

How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? When no man born of a woman can be clean and can never be a GOD then how can Jesus born to Marry Hazrat Mariam pbuh, can be a GOD?

In the book of Job there are several statements that are also scientific facts. For example Job 26:7 He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing. Two correct facts, the earth floats in space and in the milky way to the north of earth there are far fewer stars than to the south. There are others and so I believe this verse while it has meaning in its context, also tells us that the moon does not shine, it only reflects.

First of all when GOD talks about heaven, it means the outer space above the earth. This space is inhabited by unclean spirits. Job 25:5; Ephesians2:2. GOD has set a time in which He will cleanse the whole heaven by shaking it ( Isaiah 34:4; Revelation 6:12-13). The shaking of the heaven (pictured as a fig tree being violently shaken) is the coming war in heaven which will be fought by Archangel Michael and his angels against the devil and his angels, Revelation 12:7. The devil and his angels will lose this war and their heavenly places will be taken over by the angels. All these unclean spirits together with the devil will be cast down to the earth (and the stars of heaven fall to the earth), Revelation 12:9-13. This is the beginning of the great tribulation the earth and it will last 1260 days. Immediately after the tribulation the LORD Jesus shall return to the earth to finish off the devil and all his demons and remove all things that offend from the earth, Matthew 24:29-30 ; 13:40-43; Revelation 19:11-21. The Writer of Hebrews 12:26-27 described the shaking of the heavens and the earth as the way for GOD to remove the sinful and the unclean from both the heavens and the earth. That which cannot be shaken are the righteous and the holy, and these shall abide forever.
