    Galatians 6:15,

Please see context: Deuteronomy 10:16, Deuteronomy 30:6, even in old testament men have argued their holiness, set apart status, (in the flesh) yet GOD said even then; it's about the heart. Jeremiah 4:4, Jeremiah 9:25, = Romans 2:29, Romans 3:30, Romans 4:11, 1Corinthians 7:18,

    Galatians 3:28,

They were still arguing circumcision, not equality in GOD. Acts 11:2, Galatians 2:12,

    New= 2Corinthians 5:17,

    Hopefully these are helpful

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverbs 16:5 - Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Galatians 6:3 - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 26:12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Philippians 2:3 - Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

1 John 2:16 - For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Romans 12:16 - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

    Mark 7

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

This chapter; as many others in scripture-demonstrate the level of depravity one may reach.

There are two possible outcomes here; that of Manasseh who indeed humbled himself after suffering greatly and knowing that God was indeed Lord (v. 13). The resulting behaviors listed up to verse 20 show that there was a genuine conversion and that must characterize anyone who claims to have faith today. His son; Amon only had 2 years to serve and was killed by his own servants at the age of 24. (v. 24).

Testimonies are always effective; as say someone like Niki Cruz who was profoundly affected by David Wilkerson who himself put his own life in jeopardy to witness the gospel. It is only through unconditional "agape" love that we can truly "love our enemies; and do good to those who despitefully use us." ( Luke 6:27-28). It is; of course no benefit to manifesting sins so that we can later have a more dramatic testimony. God does; of course come to us "while we are yet sinners" ( Romans 5:8). We also need to be reminded of the exhortation in Ezekiel; even one sin disqualifies a rightous man ( Ezekiel 33:13). Note the man in that verse is TRUSTING in his own righteousness! These passages help to demonstrate the unity of scripture and that the God of the O.T. is the same today. There is no room for boasting; except in Christ ( Jeremiah 9:24; 1 Cor. 1:31). These passages also are stark warnings for those who have Godly examples; we are held more accountable and perhaps judged sooner than the world itself. We see this in the case of Nebuchadnezzar's progeny at the time of the writing on the wall; for example. In short; there are those who learn from chastisement who are His chosen; and others who only harden their hearts further; such as Pharaoh.

The people are corrected, Jerusalem is destroyed. (1-11) The captives suffer in a foreign land. (12-22) God's loving-kindness, He threatens the enemies of his people. (23-26)1-11 Jeremiah wept much, yet wished he could weep more, that he might rouse the people to a due sense of the hand of God. But even the desert, without communion with God, through Christ Jesus, and the influences of the Holy Spirit, must be a place for temptation and evil; while, with these blessings, we may live in holiness in crowded cities. The people accustomed their tongues to lies. So false were they, that a brother could not be trusted. In trading and bargaining they said any thing for their own advantage, though they knew it to be false. But God marked their sin. Where no knowledge of God is, what good can be expected? He has many ways of turning a fruitful land into barrenness for the wickedness of those that dwell therein.

23-26 In this world of sin and sorrow, ending soon in death and judgement, how foolish for men to glory in their knowledge, health, strength, riches, or in any thing which leaves them under the dominion of sin and the wrath of God! and of which an account must hereafter be rendered; it will but increase their misery. Those are the true Israel who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Let us prize the distinction which comes from God, and will last for ever. Let us seek it diligently.

    Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Hi Roger. The prophet Jeremiah was also known as the 'weeping prophet' ( Jeremiah 9:1,10; Jeremiah 31:16,17) as he had an exceptionally tender heart towards his people. When we read Jeremiah chapter 9, we need to also look at chapter 8, as they are connected. The volume of their sins; sins of adultery, deceit, & idolatry which God would certainly punish & not overlook, fully gripped the prophet. His weeping ought to have alerted the people to the certainty of judgement for their follies, but they disregarded the warnings.

So his exclamation in Jeremiah 9:1: "Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!", is a picture of how he felt & the tears that would flow because of the impending slaying of his people by the Babylonian sword & then into captivity, away from their God-given land.

    Proverbs Chapter 6

16 These six things doth the LORD HATE: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD is to HATE evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverbs 16:5 - Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 26:12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

Romans 12:16 - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

1 John 2:16 - For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the PRIDE of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (Satan)

    Hi Chris.

I believe the scripture actually says I will be ( LIKE ) the most high. here's scripture:

Isaiah 14:12-14. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; "I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH."

Ezekiel 28:15. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

We often quote it as Satan wanted to be God or dethrone God. But there is a significant difference here that may be applicable for us today.

You see God shares his glory with NO creative being.

"" Isaiah 42:8. I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.""

"" Jeremiah 9:23. Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:""

2 Corinthians 10:17. But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

    Considering Satans fall -

Here I believe we also should examine ourselves to see what's behind our Motives.

    God bless.

I am 72 years old, raised in a Communal home of Hindus, Muslims and Jehovahs Witnesses. All wonderful people.

I have read many hundreds of books, and have taught Mathematics and Computer Science to Secondary School and FET College learners. I still develop software and I have many certificates of achievements.

On reflecting, I am thankful that I have realized, just as the Apostle Paul did, that above everything in my life stands :

    JESUS CHRIST and HIM crucified.

Read : 1Corinthians 2:2 "For I determined not to know any thing among you, 'save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified"

The BIBLE is the greatest BOOK that I have ever read, because I have learnt from it who GOD is:

Read : Jeremiah 9:23-24 "Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches.

But let him who glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

I would like you to know that I have experienced these WORDS in my lifetime and still do.

Therefore, I urge every person everywhere to hearken to the WORDS of GOD, for God is no respecter of persons.

The wonderful things that HE did and does for me and many, many other Christians , He will do for you.

I therefore, would like to put a loving challenge to you :

When you read the Bible, Humble yourself and sincerely ask GOD in JESUS' name to grant you the understanding and knowledge about HIM. You will be AMAZED!
