Discuss Jeremiah 8

    Richard,

Thank you for your comments, but I don't think that you are understanding what I'm trying to articulate. Look at my comments to Jimbob: Jimbob was saying that the true translation is the KJV. I responded that the holy bible is only a book, and that the TRUE Word of God is The Holy Spirit not a book of paper and ink, thus translation doesn't mean much because God (The Holy Spirit) makes things make sense rather than a book. Jimbob replied back that the holy bible is more than just a book, (true by the way). Then I said in response to that, that I Love the holy bible and that I only speak against it, NOT out of any I'll will, but ONLY because many people can't tell that the holy bible is NOT God, for God created the holy bible and we are to Worship The Creator NOT the created!

Now, to your response: You go on about how important accurate translation is from the original text so that we may accurately get all patterns and mysteries (cryptic messages numbers of letters etc). To all that I see where you are coming from, in fact I had a conversation with God about this very issue! I point to Jeremiah 8:8-9 and ask, "Father! How can I believe the holy bible when you rebuke the lying pen of the scribes!" My Father said to me "Am I God?", to which I replied "Yes Father." Then He said, "Then accept that though man has changed scripture, I Am God and they have not changed it beyond usefulness." Thus, The True Word of God, (that which He placed in my heart) is intact. Let me be even clearer, The Holy Spirit tells me what to pay attention to and how to lose" it!

    This makes sense

The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am morning; astonishment hath taken hold on me.

    Hello,

    Maybe the commentary will help:

    Link

I'm not totally certain if its a skin color or a metaphor, but I've heard this verse before be interpreted as a skin color. But just because someone says they're black doesn't mean African. There are caucasions who are very dark from being in the sun so much, for example. People then spent many hours walking outside in the sun- so I think even olive skinned Jews would have been very dark. God bless.
  • Mr. Danny R. Thomas Thomas on Jeremiah 8 - 1 year ago
In Jeremiah 8:21 When he states I am black does he mean the color of his skin like black people African etc.?

Where those people of darker complexion as a group?

Does this mean something totally different?

It's not what Israel did, it's what they/Judah did; after God brought them out of Egypt they began doing things which thought were holy but were not, not pleasing to God.

Jeremiah 8:5 Why then is this People of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

    PART 2 of 2

An effective soul-winner has a selfless attitude.

Paul reminded the believers of Corinth that they were to "do everything for the glory of God" ( 1 Cor. 10:31). Evidently, the Corinthians liked to boast about themselves. They considered their favorite preacher to be better than all the rest (1:12-13). They wanted to be known as the most tolerant of sexual freedom (5:1-2). They desired to have the flashiest or most mysterious spiritual gifts (12:4-11).

Paul sought to correct the Corinthians' arrogance by reminding them that the gospel's essence was to love God with all one's heart and love one's neighbor as oneself. In other words, "God first; others second; and me last."

An effective soul-winner presents a Christlike example. This fourth quality really is a combination and summary of the other three qualities. In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul exhorted Christians to imitate him as he in turn imitated Christ. In other words, the best way to win over a lost person to faith in Christ is TO LET THEM SEE Christ in you. Christ said that He came into the world not to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.

He called people to FOLLOW HIM as disciples-people who committed themselves body and soul to Him as Lord. He challenged them to deny self, take up the cross, and FOLLOW HIM.

Whether we prefer to call ourselves soul-winners or disciple-makers, the Lord Jesus Christ expects us to be about the business of living out the gospel consistently and doing everything we can to introduce others to Him.

    4 ESSENTIAL QUALITIES OF A SOUL-WINNER

    1 COR. 9:19-27; 10:31-33; 11:1

    Matthew 9:37-38

    Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Pray ye therefore the LORD OF THE HARVEST that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

    Jeremiah 8:20

The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

Ask the Holy Spirit to bring the Harvest to you.

    Hi Jon,

In addition to prayer, God also wants us to help ourselves. Here's some scripture for you.

Colossians 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

Luke 4:23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

Jeremiah 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

Luke 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repent

God provides mankind with gifted minds in a multitude of various fields, including Medicine, Pharmacy, and other varied fields including psychology: the science or study of the mind and behavior. God provides us with these people that can help and cure, or at least help us to manage our health, both physically and mentally.

A wise person will not rule out a service provider based on their religious belief or lack of. That's like turning down emergency bypass heart surgery because the doctor might be an unbeliever. Could be the greatest heart surgeon of all time, but not doing it. Can't let you fix the hole in my roof because you're not a christian.

Be wise, and humble and look at all your options, including prayer.

    God Bless.

This shows STILL the Jewish people in the world ALL of them whether religious, cultural, Ashkenazi or Sephardi really need the Gospel for Salvation even today. Pastor Steven Anderson from Faithful Word Babtist Church and refuses to offer them the Gospel with a gracious attitude even in such spiritual blindness.

This is Truth and spiritual light.

Jesus Christ is the only living sacrifice acceptable to God The Father, to save mankind from their sins. God

The all male Trinity is a lie. It is a "false truth", and a doctrine of Satan that have been taught in churches for thousands of years as truth.

Howerer, All males cannot produce children, spiritually ir physically. If the world is to look up to God in heaven to see the perfect order of a family, and they are lied to that God is just The Father with a male Son, and a male Holy Spirit, and the all male union produces children, with no Mother anywhere to be found, then that's a major reason why woman have been treated like dirt in some countries, and there is so much disorder in the world today.

Jesus Christ is the son of God The Father, and if Jesus is also our everlasting Father, as the lying scribes say; that means that you and me, The True children of God have the same Father, and that makes Jesus my brother.

My brother can never be my father.

    This is truth, not heresy!

The lying pen of the scribes changed some of the scriptures into lies?

"How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made He it, the lying pen of the scribes is in vain." Jeremiah 8:8

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"In the beginning was The Word{Jesus Christ}, and The Word{Jesus Christ} was with God The Father, and The Word was God." John 1:1

"26 And God{God The Father and The Word,Jesus Christ, God The Wife, God The Mother} said, now, WE make man in our image, after our likeness, and WE give them dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

27 "So God created man in Their own image, in the image of God, they created man, male and female God created them." Genesis 1:26,27

R Egnor; verse 21 "For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me." The word used (Heb. qadar - kaw-dar'), means to be ashy i.e dark colored; by implication to mourn (in sackcloth or sordid garments) be black, dark, heavy, mourn, etc. Also: totally without light in complete darkness full of sorrow or suffering sad dismal gloomy without hope.

Was this an event in history, or a prophecy for today?Muslims are known for digging up remains of kings and leaders. It refers to it being in the sight of the hosts of heaven, and their flag is moon and star.Invasion from far North would be Turkey. So many Jews are so by heritage only, and they did refuse to accept the Messiah when He came. This book is hard for me to enjoy because it is God punishing or letting bad things happen to Judah. He even hired old King Neb to have his way with them because of their noisome disobedience. He removed his protection that King David waxed so poetic about in Psalms. And so it is. Yes, the bible is ancient but the lessons remain quite topical. Follow after idols in any form and you can kiss your blessings goodbye.

Verse 14, Jesus is the living water and Israel rejects Jesus. Jesus is Peace and Love. That rejection is the sin against the Lord. Therefore, they only have the symbolic water of Satan to drink, which is gall and that represents Hate and War.

God is showing us signs and wonders, He is telling us the time is very short. It is time to repent of our sins and to encourage others to return to The Lord. Many people are dying needlessly because of sin. But there is hope for many who will look to Jesus.
