The earliest blessing in scripture is for Ishmael who is said in Genesis 16:12. It isn't exactly something to be desired; except for the fact that in the family lineage there would be many descendants. He was said to be a wild "donkey" of a man; and cause much contention and strife among others. Moving on to Genesis 26:39-40 we see the blessing of Esau; and it wasn't faring much better; he was to live by the sword and eventually throw the "yoke" off his back of basically servitude to Jacob. Finally; we see Jacob's blessing of his sons; to become the 12 patriarchs; which is a mixed bag with particularly gruesome futures for Issachar (once again like a donkey" and of course Dan being as a snake. Reuben the firstborn committed sin and thus lost privileges for that position; and altogether we may say that Judah had the best blessings offered.
These patterns are interesting in that prophetically God's will was ultimately done. We can see this perhaps clearest with God explaining the futures of Jacob and Esau before they were even born. We also see the future of the bondservant (Hagar) and free woman (Sarah) and how it affects the world still to this day with the Arab (mainly Muslim) populus in the surrounding lands of the sons of Sarah and Abraham in Israel. We could say that this most clearly demonstrates what we may call a generational curse as well as blessings that are inherited.
Jeremiah 35:19 is perhaps one of the most interesting prophetic statements; in this case to adults who had been obedient to God from the start. They were promised because of that and passing the test on not drinking wine or strong drink that they would perpetually have someone to serve God; at least seemingly promising a believer to be in the family lineage throughout the generations. As to curses; we do well to meditate on Exodus 20:5 and 6 we see generational affects but those who LOVE God He shows mercy ending the curse.

Jeannie; The LORD sent Jeremiah to speak with the Rechabites to show them as an example of faithfully keeping the words of their father, and keeping themselves separate from the pollutions of the world and the flesh: for a rebuke to Israel, because they would not hear the words of their Father and their God! So too all those who fear the word of the LORD and love Jesus; our obedience convicts men.
Have I misunderstood this chapter35? - God sent instructions via Jeremiah to the Rechabites who did not adhere. God was not pleased because they were faithful to man and not Him. Therefore God pronounced evil upon them. But I notice comments and Commentary are saying otherwise.
The Rechabites come from the house of Hemath and are kenites, sons of Cain and THEY DRINK NO WINE! Their father is not our Father. Check out Jonadab cause this bunch is bad.
God the father realy honored the choice of the rechabites who were faithful to human concepts and so much worried coz we have not amend our ways to remain faithful forever to his commandment. Shall we have spiritual rechabites who will stand firm in faith. Rememberit 's was 300 years after jonadab their father had died but they were able to rem the living principles.how often do we want to sin by not being willing to listen to God 's voice and keep his commandment,
The Rechabites were faithful and were firm on the words of their fathers. This was to show that if Judah was willing to repent n follow God,they would never lack one to reign in their descendants. This was to illustrate that God needed Judah to be faithful to his commandments. To today's church faithfulness and obedience is the key to Gods blessings and favor.
Seven spiritual churches are examples for us through the generations so we would know the church Christ would want us to learn from,go to. 2 of the 7 Christ found no problems with. He loved Smyrna and Philadelphia. They taught of the Jews that say they are Jews but are not. If we go to John 8:44. Jesus is talking to these kenites telling them who their daddy was, the devil and Jesus pointed us way back to Genesis to the first murderer from the beginning who was cain and that tells us these are kenites,sons of cain. So Eve was beguiled by the serpent, seduced #1816 and check 2nd Corinthians 11:3. the sepent being satan. We see in Genesis 4 1 she had cain and I 4:2 she again had Able. Again is yacaph #3205 meaning continue in labor. Un-identical twins. We see in 3:15 the enmity between these seeds. Seed here in Hebrew is Zera and means,Posterity, or the successive descendants of a person,generations not yet born. As we know two of every flesh got on Noahs boat and we see the kenites show back up in First Chronicles 2:55 also in Jeremiah 35:2 where they are from the house of Rechabites. Oh! In verse 3 they mention a Jeremiah but that's not our jeremiah that's some one else. When you check the geneology, Adams is chapter 5 and cains is in chapter 4. Cain isn't from Adam. Clearly, they were evil doers and idolators. (Verses 14-15)
Their obedience to Jonadab carried some weight with God ( Ex. 20:12)
23) Proverbs 23:32 - Alcoholic drinks bite like a serpent, sting like an adder.
24) Proverbs 23:33 - Alcohol causes the drinker to have strange and adulterous thoughts, produces willfulness, and prevents reformation.
25) Proverbs 23:34 - Alcohol makes the drinker unstable
26) Proverbs 23:35 - Alcohol makes the drinker insensitive to pain so he does not perceive it as a warning. Alcohol is habit forming.
27) Proverb 31:4-5 - Kings, Princes, and others who rule and judge must not drink alcohol. Alcohol perverts good judgment.
28) Proverbs 31:6-7 - Strong drink could be given to those about to perish or those in pain. Better anesthetics are available today.
29) Ecclesiastes 2:3 - The king tried everything, including intoxicating drink, to see if it satisfied. It did not. ( Ecclesiastes 12:8)
