Discuss Isaiah 2

Why man can't love a good God

When surveying the different dispensations (or eras for those who don't like that term) we see the same God granting grace and forgiveness even with different roles of the Holy Spirit; different methods of worship based on the old or new covenant(s) and in general a frequent transition from times of relative peace to turbulent wars; famines; and pestilences. One of the great mysteries is how man couldn't sin when in Eden before the fall; and yet how we can't go back to that state but must go through the cross and the "second Adam" in order to obtain righteousness and good standing once again with the Lord ( 1 Cor. 15:45).

The origin of sin itself came with what some may call "esoteric" knowledge (knowing the difference between good and evil). Violence and murder were to come quickly with Cain and it necessitated the first death of an animal in order to cover Adam and Eve. If all of nature was as it is stated in Isaiah 11 (focusing on verses 6-9) which is the description of the Millennium on God's Holy Mountain then death and slaying something would not be anywhere on earth before that time. This of course pointed to Christ's sacrifice and the prophecy of Genesis 3:15 was to come immediately after man's fall as well.

We see again during the Millennium period a time with man learning the art of war no more ( Isaiah 2:4); and of course Satan is said to be bound in that period according to Revelation 20. At the end of that time; however he is loosed as Revelation 21 states to deceive the WHOLE WORLD. This shows the utter hoplelessness of unregenerate man even with Christ ruling and reigning on earth at that time with the glorified saints (us). There are many instances of men in their distress calling out to the Lord in Psalms; etc. so God often can get men's attention that way; but there are times He will not respond and destruction and death commences. We dare not play with God thinking we can wait to the end to repent.

    Happy New Year

We have all come another day closer to the return of Christ. Isaiah 51:6 and other verses in Psalms refer to the earth waxing old like a garment; but as Job said there will be a resurrection and we shall see Him in our own flesh ( Job 19:26 and surrounding verses). The suffering of the saints which is part of God's purging process in our own lives will come to an end; certainly if Paul with the immense suffering promised him in Acts 9:16 could state that sufferings now are no comparison to what is to come ( Romans 8:18) heaven is too wonderful for words.

Whatever is left will be restored during the Millennium so that people can live fulfilled long lives in a peaceful existence. The earth will produce its fruit in abundance and Satan will be restrained. Only this will bring about the end of war ( Isaiah 2:4).

I will be the first to admit; and I doubt that I'm the only one that it seems almost a cruel joke to hold on to such hope; especially in regard to the Rapture which was rather obsessed over in the 1970s and 1980s and today hardly discussed in traditional church settings. We have come to a point where it is not discussed in church; but there are numerous online sites which are pretty much obsessed with the topic and endless dreams and visions that individuals are supposed to have had on the issue. It is hard to imagine just how great it will be not to have Satan and his emissaries like a spider with tentacles removed from what is now a chokehold on almost everything in the world today. Nonetheless we have a cloud of witnesses ( Heb. 12:1) which are of every saint who has died since the time of Christ and in fact some are the "first of the firstfruits" as it were of the O.T. saints resurrected in Matthew 27:52 and 53.

To imagine society without the violence and lawlessness of today is a stretch. When Christ comes to rule with a rod of iron He will also be just (see Isaiah 11:3 and other verses). Today may He reign in our hearts.

The 7-year time period mentioned throughout scripture, but described in detail in the books of Daniel and Revelation, is also known as

The great tribulation ( Matthew 24:21)

    The Day of the Lord ( Isaiah 2:12; 13:6-9; Joel 1:15; 2:1-31; 3:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:2)

Trouble or tribulation ( Deuteronomy 4:30)

The time of Jacob's troubles ( Jeremiah 30:7)

Toward the end of Daniel's life, he has a vision described in Daniel 12.

"At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever."- Daniel 12:1-3

From this passage, we know that

Unprecedented, troubling times are on the way.

There will be some who will awake to "everlasting life."

There will be some who will awake to "shame and everlasting contempt."

Those who are wise will shine.

A further study of this passage and the 7-year tribulation reveals more about the troubling times and who will awake to everlasting life and who will awake to everlasting contempt.

Everlasting life is given by those who trust in Jesus for their salvation.

Everlasting contempt is given to those who do not trust Jesus.

    Greetings in Christ JESUS

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

About difference between soul and spirit, I also would like to highlight or point out the difference between HUMAN creation and other kind of animals. Genesis 1:24&26:

24 GOD said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind(may the Earth produce, or produce the Earth), cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. But about man,(v.26) GOD said, Let us MAKE MAN in our image, after our likeness: ...

If GOD had not breathed on man, this would be an animal like other animals in which GOD did not breathe the breath of life, in fact, that is why they do not speak a single word, even a letter, by nature.

I am a fruit of the multiplication that GOD ordered around 6000 years ago. I was born in the last century, but the order of my birth was given by my GOD millennia ago. I was born under His everlating Word of course. Job 33:4 -The Spirit of GOD hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Having said that, I would like to highlight and emphasize that when GOD breathed the breath of life into man, He actually gave man the ability to speak with his mouth, and thus dominate the earthly environment. John 3:31-He that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth. So, he that is of above is above all.

John 20:22 - when JESUS had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit:

Isaiah 2:22 - Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of ?

Psalm 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

    Amen

God's plans for the Nations (part 4)

We are in the "Church Age" at this point; and heading toward the final version of the "Revived Roman Empire" as seen in Daniel 2:42-44. The final composite kingdom of the Antichrist is like a lion (Babylonian symbol but modern day Great Britain); a bear (Media Persian symbol also Russia) a leopard (fitting into the Greek or Mediterranean Kingdom); and the final composite Beast of the last days which encompasses the entire earth ( Daniel 7:2-8). This will come eventually with the Antichrist for "one hour" (probably the 7 Year Tribulation) taking over a kingdom of 10 Kings who are yet to have a kingdom ( Revelation 17:12).

Since nations are still mentioned in verses about the Millennium ( Psalm 86:9 as one example) coming to the Lord it is clear they are in God's design to be restored. For now; territorial integrity is important; although God will have to settle many disputes when He comes ( Isaiah 2:4).

God has established through the Abrahamic covenant and other promises to Joshua and Caleb that He would give the 12 Tribes inheritance of all the territory described from the "Great Sea" to the Euphrates ( Joshua 1:4). God does honor covenants though; so agreements made with those in other nations or even Israel itself say with settlements should be honored.

We also need to keep in mind Joshua 5:14 where the Angel of the Lord states He is for the Lord's army not necessarily siding with anyone. This is why God allowed Israel's enemies to prosper at times for chastisement; as was made clear in God's prophecies about Babylon and even the pagan invaders stated this (although I can't find the verse at present). It is humbling to think about this at present; we in our proud nation think the worst thing to happen would be invasion from another nation and submission but are we better than Israel and the Babylonians? This may happen before the Tribulation if He tarries (our borders are already breached BTW). Food for thought.

    Greetings in Christ JESUS

I'm astonished/surprised by the fact of the readers /students of the Bible don't discern that MAN already existed before GOD said: "Let us make MAN in our image, after our likeness: and ... "

Yes man already EXISTED, but NOT in the IMAGE of GOD; MAN was only and only made of the dust of the earth whose breath was in his nostrils- Genesis 2:7 and 15-17, and Isaiah 2:22.

Well, only after the fall GOD planned(GENESIS) to make man in His image, but how? GOD is Spirit, invisible. What is the image of a spirit?

First step: GOD's decision. Genesis 1:26-GOD said(to JESUS, the beginning), Let us make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness( Hebrews 1:3 combined with John 5:17 and John 1:11-13): and let them have dominion over the ...

2nd step: Execution of GOD's plan: Genesis 1:27 -So GOD created man in His own image, in the image of GOD created he him; male and female created He them. John 1:11-13 and John 5:17

    .

    Remember: 1 Corinthians 15:45-47

47 The first MAN is of the earth, earthy; the second MAN is the Lord from heaven(is from a celestial /spiritual environment)

45 The first MAN Adam was made a living soul(whose breath is in his nostrils- Isaiah 2:22); the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual

    Genesis 1:31

And GOD saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (This sixth GOD's Day just finished)

    Revelation 11:15-18

15...The kingdoms OF THIS WORLD are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever

    ...

And the nations will be angry, and GOD's wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be Judged, and that should give reward unto the servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear His name, small and great; and should destroy them which destroy the earth

    Psalm 98

This Psalm begins in verse 1 with a "new song". The "right arm" which gets the victory along with openly showing His righteousness (verse 2) shows His return after Armageddon to begin ruling with a rod of iron but with justice ( Rev. 2:27; Psalm 9:8).

There is a new song earlier sung by the 144,000 in heaven at an earlier date ( Rev. 14:3). There is one earlier on though; in Revelation 5:9 which appears to be those raptured and singing to the One worthy to open the seals who has overcome.

Verses 3 through 6 remind us of His presence being known throughout the earth and celebration to be given with instruments. His mercy and truth to the House of Israel mentioned in verse 3 makes it clear that God has once again salvaged Israel and restored it's covenant promises.

God judging the world with "equity" is true balanced judgment; not perverted sorts of methodologies which we see so often today. No doubt the prophecy in Isaiah 2:4 will be appropriate as swords are beaten into plowshares. That verse mentions settling "many disputes" as well; and no doubt we will rule and reign with Him in a supporting role over "many cities" for those faithfully following Him now ( Luke 19:17).

The mention of the sea roaring in verse 7 once again shows this as a Millennial event; as no more sea exists at the end of that time period.

    Heaven part 4

It is hard to imagine the earth without Satan and his oppressive regime as a sort of underground usurper; particularly without man learning the art of war anymore ( Isaiah 2:4). Satan; of course will try to destroy the encampment of God on earth (which will be populated by us no doubt) and will come to a quick end being thrown in the lake of fire with his earlier cohorts he used for his own purposes over 1000 years before.

When we understand how there will be those saints of all "dispensations" in heaven from the O.T. and N.T. as well as those martyrs who will be resurrected from the Tribulation later to rule as well ( Rev. 7:9). There are disputes on the timing of what constitutes the firstfruits (I tend to think it is several phases); but the point is all these groups will be represented in heaven. And I have stated in earlier posts that the implication of the Great White Throne Judgment is that some will be in the Book of Life; certainly the PHYSICAL survivors allowed into the Millennium who remained faithful; as well as those descendants wo don't rebel and are true believers will have to be accounted for and hence will be translated if they live out the whole 1000 years without dying (at least it would appear so unless instantly killed then resurrected when the elements are melted). 2 Peter 3:10.

Jesus assured His disciples that He is God of the living ( Matt. 22:32-34) which again eliminates soul sleep and shows where the souls of the departed are (as Revelation also does in Rev. 6:9; later resurrected in Rev. 20:4). The final proof here of consciousness after the grave is the Transfiguration; as well as the example of Lazarus and the rich man (the only parable mentioning a given name hence to be taken literally).

It is harder to conceive in some ways the physical component of our state as resurrected saints than it is of the spiritual; if we think about it for a minute. We live in faith now of who we haven't seen but we shall see him.

    Psalm 97

Verse 1 indicates the "multitude of isles" being glad when the Lord reigns. This term has been said to refer to the Gentile nations or the outermost parts of the world. Ezekiel 39:6 and Isaiah 41:5 seem to refer to these parts of the world during the Tribulation with Isaiah 24:15 giving a prophetic indication that even in the fires God will be glorified.

Verse 2 on clouds and darkness are similar to Solomon's description of God in 1 Kings 8:12 similar to other passages.

Verse 3 through 5 show the affects on the earth of His coming. We are reminded of 2 Thessalonians 2:8 as well as the battle of Armageddon.

Verse 4 reminds us of Matthew 24:27 when the Son of Man comes as to His appearing.

Verse 5 shows us similar references to Psalm 68:2 among other places.

Verse 6 shows as things are now; God's presence evident to all as we see indicated in Romans 1 and Psalm 19. Man will see His glory when He comes to rule in the Millennium.

Verse 7 shows that finally idol worship will end when Christ comes back. People will eventually cast forth their idols of gold and silver during the Tribulation judgments as Isaiah 2:20. Perhaps some of that sadly will occur because Satan himself will demand worship and that will eliminate worship of any false gods but also the true God with the mark of the beast sealing people's fate.

Verse 8 shows how Judah and the remaining nation of Israel will rejoice; which will happen when He is returning as Zechariah 12:10 indicates. Verse 9 shows the majesty of God unparalleled.

Verse 10 shows how saints are delivered; either from or through disaster.

Verse 11 reminds us of His light and no longer a need for the sun and moon from Revelation 21:23 but also found in Isaiah 60:19.

Finally the last verse talks about rejoicing of the righteous and thanks at remembrance of His holiness. Good sentiment for all times or dispensations and the age to come.

    Hi Jema,

I may be different, but in my understanding of the Bible, I approach scripture simply and do not try to complicate things with preconceived ideas and let the Bible and the Holy Spirit do the interpretation. To me, a symbol will have a non-symbolic meaning.

A symbol represents something real, a real person, a real thing, or a historical event. When I read, I understand words in a literal sense first, then in a figurative or spiritual sense if the literal doesn't make sense.

Are the Christians now the Israel of God? Have the promises to Israel and the church merged into one common heritage? If so that brings up.

Will the promise of the land given to Abraham's seed, Isaac then Jacob be fulfilled? Isaiah 11:11-12 Ezekiel 37:21-25 Jeremiah 24:5-6 Ezekiel 34:11-12 Ezekiel 36:24-26 Hosea 3:4-5 Micah 4:6-7 Zechariah 13:8-9

Will Jesus the Messiah return and reign on the earth, with a rod of iron? Isaiah 2:1-4 Isaiah 11:1-4 Daniel 2:44 Daniel 7:14 Zechariah 14:1-4 Jeremiah 3:17 Revelation 2:26-27 Revelation 11:15 Revelation 12:5 Revelation 19:11-21.

Will there be a literal millennium during which Satan will not deceive the nations and Christ will reign on earth? Revelation 20:1-6 2 Timothy 2:11-12 Isaiah 2:2-4 Isaiah 11:5-16 Isaiah 65:19-25 Isaiah 51:4-5 Zechariah 14:16-21 Micah 4:1-4 Psalms 46:7-11 Matthew 19:28.

To me there are too many scriptures that are showing God has not replaced Israel with the Church. We see in Romans 11:24-27 a day when God will again turn to Israel, the day Jesus returns. Forgive me if some of the scriptures do not fit.

    God bless,

    Hey Jinbob,

    Part 1

I do not mind one bit, I feel we are all here for each other. Revelation is to me hard, I feel some things have not been revealed and the events that were shown to John are not written in chronological order. Chapter 15 starts with a sign in heaven of the seven angels having the last plagues filled with the wrath of God.

My understanding is this is after the seven trumpets and with Matt. 24:31 1 Thess. 4:16 1 Cor. 15:52 or Rev. 11:15 and Rev. 19:11-15 shows Jesus returns on the last trump so Jesus is on the earth at this time with the ones in the first resurrection. I do not know of any scripture that says Jesus goes back up to heaven after He comes down to reign as King.

So, in Rev. 15:2 where and when is this vision John is seeing? Does Rev. 15:2-3 say this group is the Church or is this event the same event we see in Rev. 20:4 after the battle and Satan is locked up? Rev. 15:4 it is talking about all nations will come and worship the Lord. Is this not during the Millenium reign as in Jeremiah 3:17 Zechariah 8:21-22 Isaiah 2:3-4 and more?

Rev. 19:7-9 the marriage of the Lamb is come, does not mean at that moment it means all that must be fulfilled for it to happen has been fulfilled, the wife has made herself ready. So when will the marriage and the marriage supper happen? In Rev.19:9 it says "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb." Is this only the Church? How are we to understand Rev. 21:9-27?

That's a good point you make,

However, Here's a few issues with that view,

    1) The day of the Lord is mentioned 31 times in the bible, 26 times in the Old Testament and 5 in the New Testament.

To my knowledge nowhere in scripture it mentions any removal of the saints.

    Here's a few.

    Isaiah 2:12; 13:6, 9; Ezekiel 13:5, 30:3; Joel 1:15, 2:1,11,31; 3:14; Amos 5:18,20; Obadiah 15; Zephaniah 1:7,14; Zechariah 14:1; Malachi 4:5) and several times in the New Testament ( Acts 2:20; 1 Corinthians 5:5; 2 Corinthians 1:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Thessalonians 2:2; 2 Peter 3:10). It is also alluded to in other passages ( Revelation 6:15-17; 16:14).

In 2 Peter 3:3-18 we are told the Lord is longsuffering to us-ward, and holding back his wrath not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Notice something in verses 11 and 12.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ITS A QUESTION!!

    The answer is NO!

    Here's what were looking for;

    Verses 13-16.

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

    And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

See part 2 and the second issue I have with that view.

These scriptures, I believe are prophecing about the millennial reign as it speaks of people from " all nations " going up to the holy hill & Christ will teach the people His ways. People will war no more.

You read where God will Judge all nations towards the end.

It's my understanding the new Jerusalem rests on this holy hill as well. Not 100% on that but pretty sure as Christ is ruling from his Holy temple.

    Hi Gigi.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but here's a few of many references of a future Kingdom here on earth.

    Revelation 5:10

    And have made us kings and priests to our God;

AND WE SHALL REIGN ON THE EARTH.

    Psalm 2:6-8

"Yet I have set My King

On My holy hill of Zion." "I will declare the decree:

The LORD has said to Me,

    'You are My Son,

    Today I have begotten You.

Ask of Me, and I will give You

    The nations for Your inheritance,

And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

    Daniel 2:34-35

You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and FILLED THE WHOLE EARTH.

    Zechariah 14:9-11.

    Zechariah 14:16-19

And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

    Matthew 6:10

    Your kingdom come.

    Your will be done

"ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN."

    Matthew 5:5.

    Matthew 25:31-34.

    Isaiah 2:2.

    Jeremiah 30:10.

    Ezekiel 34:25-31.

    Daniel 2:44.

    Micah 4:1-2.

    Zechariah 8:1-3.

    Revelation 11:5.

    God bless you.

    Goodnight.

    Psalm 47.

This once again seems to focus on the future Millennium reign. His "triumph" in verse 1 results in being King over the earth (v. 2); and then subduing people under Him (verse 3). The concept of His ruling with an iron rod is in Psalm 2:9 and also found in multiple passages in Revelation.

The inheritance of His choice in verse 4 ties in with the eternal covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15:18. These have yet to be completed; they were only partially so during Solomon's reign and then eventually the nation split between Israel and Judah and there were multiple invasions and diasporas. The term "shields" seems to represent the protective aspect of God especially in the area where Christ rules in the Holy mountain during the Millennium. This is seen in Isaiah 2:2 but also envisioned in many other scriptures especially Zechariah. Isaiah 11 and 65 discuss even the animals submitting; along with no one causing harm in this place at that time. Obviously after this time in eternity nowhere will anyone cause harm once the heavenly city descends to earth and we have a final new heaven and earth. Agape.

Verses 5 through 8 discuss shouting and singing praises and repeats the theme in verse 8 of God "ruling over the heathen" as well as sitting on His throne.

The princes in the last verse could well represent the church as we are to rule and reign as kings and priests ( Rev. 1:6 etal).

    Psalm 46.

This Psalm once again was written for the sons of Korah. Interesting; the "Alamoth" designation meant that it was to be sang by women; apparently with soprano voices according to Easton's Bible Dictionary. I'm not certain why that was the case but it is an interesting sidenote.

This is clearly a prophetic Psalm. We literally see the mountains being carried into the "midst of the sea" in Revelation 16:20 (verse 2); and the words of Matt. 24:29 come into mind in verse 3.

Moving on to verse 4 and 5; we see the river in the midst of the "city of God" (verse 4) and it not being moved. This could represent the Millennial Kingdom on earth or eternity; as well as possibly the heavenly Jerusalem now.

Verses 6 through 10 describe the "heathen raging" (verse 6); which is reminicient of the Armageddon conflict of Rev. 19 as well as reflected earlier in Psalm 2. The earth melting is in other scriptures such as Isaiah 24:1-6 and Psalm 97:5 to name a few.

Truly God is the refuge of those who either physically survive into the Millenial Kingdom from the Tribulation or the saints that rule and reign as kings and priests on earth at that time (verse 7). Verses 8-10 talk about wars ceasing and God making desolations; as well as destroying all the weapons of war. This reminds us of Isaiah 2:4 as well as the aftermath and cleanup of the Ezekiel 38 war. God truly will be exalted even among the heathen (verse 10). The Psalm concludes in verse 11 with the identical verse as found in verse 7.

    Reflections on heaven part 4

    Ruling over angels.

We are told that we will rule over angels in scripture. ( Heb. 2:5-9). There are other passages in Hebrews that discuss how Christ was brought a little lower than the angels; however for His earthly ministry; and how they seek to learn the mysteries of God and salvation. It would be wise to examine the admonitions of Jude 1:9 however. In this present day we cannot even have the wrong attitude contending with the devil when God has allowed his authority for His purposes in this age. We indeed will rule and reign with Him; but clearly we won't have some puffed up superiority with angels assigned under us. These same angels now are "ministering spirits" ( Heb. 1:14) who are incognito only appearing when needed for a specific purpose without any additional fanfare. There are other verses on us judging angels; which I don't care to speculate on in this forum due to space constraints.

It was suggested in today's sermon that angels may be able to fill in what was going on that we couldn't see; or answer questions about how certain choices changed the course of events; etc. Surely we will learn more about specific ministries there; as well as between the differing ranks (Cherubim; and or beasts surrounding the throne; Archangels and others). Again; the angels that remained faithful were always drawing attention to God's glory and not themselves. Surely; that is how we will rule with Christ when He reigns in perfect righteousness; and settles disputes among nations ( Isaiah 2:4). There will be cities for us to rule over ( Luke 19:17) which someone could interpret as a figurative allegory but I see no reason why.

God has given His angels great power; such as the one assigned to kill 185,000 in a day ( 2 Kings 19:35). Since they are not puffed up over having that type of authority; we also will not be when because of adoption as sons we are exalted since Christ died for men and not angels.

    Sparticus,

I hold the historical/prophetic view of the book of Revelation. I see the book of Revelation as being both historical and futuristic. I understand the seven churches in Chapters 2 and 3 were literal churches in John's day, and that the events in Chapters 4 through 22 are yet future.

Whatever view a person takes, it must fit in with what John saw in the past. He just saw the vision of Christ, the things that are, that is, the condition of the churches in John's day, and the things that will be after the church (Chapters 4 through 22).

It must fit into that past, present, and future scheme that the book of Revelation divides up for us.

In Revelation 1:10, John says, " I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day."

The phrase "I was in the Spirit," in the King James translation, Spirit is capitalized to indicate the Holy Spirit. But in the Greek text, there is no word "the." There's no definite article. And the spirit is understood to be not the Holy Spirit, but the spirit realm. And we see that throughout the book, he was caught up in spirit.

And then he says on the Lord's day. And in the bible, Sunday is never called the Lord's day, which you also alluded to.

The scriptures tell us that this is an OT term for the day of the Lord, or Lord's day, and it is a reference to the day of judgment.

It is called the Lord's day in Isaiah 2:12, and Zephaniah 1:14-16. Even Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:2, he used that Jewish phrase from the Old Testament, and says that the day of the Lord is going to come as a thief in the night. But you don't have to worry because you're children of light.

Peter also, in 2 Peter 3:10 used the same phrase as the day of judgment of God.

When John was caught up to see the Lord's day, this period of judgment, he got to see the future happen before it happens, while it's happening. He saw everything from where he's at, all the way to the end, and what's going to happen at the end. It just hasn't happened yet for us

    Hello Mr. Adam Clark:

Here's what I found to back up Malachi message about the "day of the Lord" (29X) from OT to NT. After these verses there's more interesting words God made me focus on as well. So begin our study ( if anybody willing to read) with these verses but do not forget to read the entire chapter or even before and after the chapter for any connecting relevance:

The Lord's vengeance and the year of recompenses for the controversy of the Zion.

    Isaiah 2:12; 13:6; 13:9; 34:8

    Jeremiah 46:10

    Lamentations 2:22

    Ezekiel 13:5; 30:3

Joel has spoken about the sun darkened and the moon into blood as reiterates in Acts 2:20

    Joel 1:15; 2:1; 2:11; 2:31; 3:14

We pause and pray. It seems the day of the Lord is a great and very terrible day. I pray that ALL will be saved today's Bible study.

    Amos 5:18; 5:20

    Obadiah 1:15

Zephaniah has spoken that there are people may be saved who seek the righteousness of God

    Zephaniah 1:7-8; 1:14; 1:18;2:2-3

    Zechariah 14:1

    1 Corinthians 5:5

    2 Corinthians 1:14

I thank God for Paul that we who are saved will know perfectly when this day would be even if it comes as a thief in the night as mentioned in ( 2 Peter 3:10)

    1 Thessalonians 5:2

That is why I think we who truly believes God and have done God's will more likely not experience this day. So we pray earnestly that ALL may be saved. Happy reading.

    The Kingdom of God.

    Part 3.

    "WITHIN YOU."

The better translation would be "in your midst" or "among you." Jesus was telling the Pharisees that He brought the kingdom of God to earth. Jesus' presence in their midst gave them a taste of the kingdom life, as attested by the miracles that Jesus performed. Elsewhere, Jesus mentions His miracles as definitive proof of the kingdom: "If I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you" ( Luke 11:20).

There are three popular interpretations of Jesus' words in Luke 17:21 that the kingdom of God is within you (or among you): 1) the kingdom of God is essentially inward, within man's heart; 2) the kingdom is within your reach if you make the right choices; and 3) the kingdom of God is in your midst in the person and presence of Jesus. The best of these interpretations, it seems, is the third: Jesus was inaugurating the kingdom as He changed the hearts of men, one at a time.

For the time being, Christ's kingdom is not of this world ( John 18:36). One day, however, the kingdom of God will be manifest on the earth ( Isaiah 35:1), and Jesus Christ will rule a physical kingdom.

Jesus told his desciples to pray for the Kingdom.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    Mat. 6:10.

Some say the Kingdom started in Jesus ministry.

There's several problems with that view.

    1) Davids throne no longer existed then. "It still don't.

    2) Revelation 20. refutes that notion. "The devil is still at large, look around.

The Millennial Kingdom is a one-thousand-year literal and visible reign of Christ upon the earth during which Satan is bound, Israel as a people is restored, and the Jewish Temple rebuilt.

    Isaiah 2:1-4.

    Isaiah 11:1-10.

    Isaiah 65:18-25

    I like this one!!

Isaiah 11:11. God will gather Israel a SECOND TIME and all this will happen.

This is being fulfilled before our very eyes! He just haven't poured his spirit on that nation yet.

    God bless.

    Hey SolaScrip,

Is there scripture outside Revelation that confirms an exact 1000 years? The answer is no. Are there false teachers out there? The answer is yes, there are many, 1 John 4:1. Are there scriptures that say the Son of God will reign on earth? The answer is yes. Psalm 2:6-9 Psalm 22:27-31 Isaiah 2:1-4 Isaiah 9:6-7 Isaiah 24:21-23 Jeremiah 23:5 Ezekiel 20:33-44 Ezekiel 39:21-29 Zechariah 2:10-13 Zechariah 8:2-3 Zechariah 14:1-9 Matthew 19:28 Revelation 11:15 Revelation 20:4 and more.

Is there any scripture that says people will go to or reign in heaven? The answer is no. Are there scriptures that say the elect will reign with Jesus on earth? The answer is yes. Daniel 7:27 2 Timothy 2:11-13 Revelation 5:10. Are there scriptures that describe how things change after Jesus returns? The answer is yes. Zechariah 8:4 Isaiah 11 Isaiah 60:15 Isaiah 65:18-25. These people will be alive on the second coming of Jesus, they will have the opportunity to live longer if they choose to obey God.

Are there things that have not been revealed to us? The answer is, yes? Jesus will return and set up the kingdom here on earth and He will put all enemies under His feet, 1 Corinthians 15:25. Will death still be during the time Jesus is ruling? The answer is yes. The purpose is to fulfill the rest of the scriptures with Jesus, Israel, the Gentiles, and creation that has not yet been fulfilled.

The only scripture that gives us 1000 years is Revelation, but many scriptures tell us the kingdom will be set up on earth. We have these, Numbers 14:21 Psalms 115:16 Micah 4:1-3 Matthew 5:5 Matthew 6:10. Not to debate, with the time it will take I cannot say the 1000 years are false.

    God bless,

    RLW
