    S Spencer

    Is the Gospel necessary? Absolutely!

However some that feast with us don't think so.

Passages in Romans 10 shows great importance in preaching it.

    vs 8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, WHICH WE PREACH;

vs 14) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and HOW SHALL THEY HEAR WITHOUT A PREACHER?

vs 15) AND HOW SHALL THEY PREACH, EXCEPT THEY BE SENT? as it is written, HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THEM THAT PREACH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE, AND BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS!

Jesus said Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15.

This same group false theology suggests there's no hell or Satan and everyone goes to heaven so even the word salvation is pointless because there is nothing to be saved from. So the death of Christ doesn't display the love of God.

John 3:16 would have to be an error!

The wide gate in Matthew 7:13 doesn't exist.

There's no consequences to sin, no reward for righteous living by the Spirit.

Those who denied Christ, Hate God, murderer ect... And those who love God will sit down with judas, Paul, Peter, Putin, Hitler and sit down at the marriage supper. So our preaching is in vain.

So why do they earnestly stand in our way? They pretend to be beside you when talking about the trinity but when you mention Faith, Believe, ect.. in regards to salvation they come unglued! Why do they bother if whether you believe or not according to them it doesn't matter? That they won't answer.

They stand in the way when it shouldn't matter to them unless the spirit in them is to deceive!

And This doctrine "Salvation by works is by that same Spirit. As seen in Galatians 3:1 and many other verses.

    Hi Mark.

    Part 1.

I Agree with Brother Chris "God knowing beforehand the choices that we make & the way our lives will unfold" and the Gospel goes out to all, the invitation is for all, but not all will respond!!

1 John 2:2. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Matthew 7:13-14. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, AND FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT.

Galatians 3:22. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given TO THEM THAT BELIEVE.

Ephesians 1:12-13. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

    So let's make it clear

    Romans 10:8-15 is what's relevant.

But look at verse 16. "But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Here's my thought on this that I'm sure can be improved on.

Romans 9:11. (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, THAT THE PURPOSE OF GOD ACCORDING TO ELECTION might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Here we have God's way that He Elected..

Next we have "WHEN" God's way was Elected.

Ephesians 1:4. According as he hath chosen us ( IN ) him BEFORE THE FOUNDATION of THE WORLD...

You may find it easier to understand if we look at it as the church or the body of Christ instead of Individuals.

    See part 2.

    Galatians 6:15,

Please see context: Deuteronomy 10:16, Deuteronomy 30:6, even in old testament men have argued their holiness, set apart status, (in the flesh) yet GOD said even then; it's about the heart. Jeremiah 4:4, Jeremiah 9:25, = Romans 2:29, Romans 3:30, Romans 4:11, 1Corinthians 7:18,

    Galatians 3:28,

They were still arguing circumcision, not equality in GOD. Acts 11:2, Galatians 2:12,

    New= 2Corinthians 5:17,

    Hopefully these are helpful

HI SUZE Something from Gods word in Galatians 3:22+23 it says before faith came we were under the law, spiritual

faith came by Jesus Christ on Pentecost before that you could believe God but not have spiritual faith inside by holy

spirit. There a greek word called pistis and when you look it up it was translated either believing or faith by the translators.

abraham was justified by works in that he believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. In the old testament

no person had spiritual faith in them i.e. born again because it was not possible till pentecost.

    Romans 6:3-7 (Part 2)

I can get water baptized until I am water logged and it isn't going to do anything for me spiritually. It's just water on the outside of the body. Water baptism cannot produce the ministry Spirit of God. And if I look through this chapter, it's talking about being delivered from sin, dying to sin, and being born into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. You don't do that through water. It's through the Spirit of God!

Spirit baptism, or the baptism of the Holy Spirit, is the name of the ministry of Jesus Christ. I know the term has been misused today so a lot of people try and stay away from the term "Baptism of the Spirit." But in Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist said "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance."

John's baptism is different than Christian baptism. His was for the Jews that they would repent at the coming of Messiah. He says I baptize you water unto repentance, (not remission of sin), but He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear, He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. This is Jesus' ministry, to baptize us with His Spirit. The fire represents judgment. But we become a member of the body of Christ the moment we are saved and that is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

In Galatians 3:27, it says "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ." So the baptism is parallel to and synonymous with putting on Christ, salvation, and receiving Christ. I have to understand this from Paul's perspective. Paul is the one that taught about Spiritual baptism being salvation, and the time that you come into the body of Christ. It is the Lord's ministry, and it is sad that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is misunderstood today and mistaught which takes away from the very function for which it is supposed to serve.

To be fair, I am going to look some more at Colossians 2:12. I may still be on the fence with that one. I hope you have a great day!

Hi Jeremiah Before the day of pentecost it was not available to receive holy spirit or be born again of Gods spirit, in

GALATIANS 3:23 the scripture says before faith came, Jesus Christ made spiritual faith available. So you could not be

a christian until pentecost when it became available.

Salvation is only received through believing and trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that saves. The law will only drive the lost soul unto the Gospel and Salvation. Galatians 3: 11, 12, 21-26. Romans 10: 9, 10

Praise the Lord for His redemption through His blood on the cross that gives Salvation unto all those who believe and trust in Him.

May we all pray diligently for our leaders to believe and have the mind of Christ. 2 Timothy 2:1-4

God bless all on this forum with the wisdom of the Lord. May His comforting hand be on all.

    Hi Phil.

    I concur Steve.

The Law was given to Israel. The law given was to convict us of sin.

    2 Corinthians 3:6-14.

    Galatians 3:11-13.

    Romans 7:4-5.

    Romans 7:9-10.

Some aspects of the Law such as the Sabbath pointed to Christ work on the Cross that would free us from the curse of the Law. " Death"

    Colossians 2:11-17.

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

    And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

    Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the SABBATH DAYS:

HERE'S. THE KEY IN VERSE 17.

Vs.17) "Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

Israel "as a nation" regects Christ work on the cross so as of now the have yet to join in that rest.( Yet they honor the Sabbath!)

    Please study Hebrews 4:2-11.

That rest comes after salvation. Not to obtain it.

If one wants to observe the sabbath go ahead, but if you do it to earn salvation you fall in the same unbelief as Israel.

The Galatians was warned of the same thing in Galatians 5:4. "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

Salvation is not for sell its a gift. Ephesians 2:8-9. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

The LAW was our schoolmaster until, FAITH CAME.

Jesus came to fulfil all of the Law.

Church is whenever the doors are open and services are taking place. As often as Church is open, you can attend.

(Note:I don't debate this. People ask this question all of the time. If we aren't free of the Schoolmaster, then we are still under the Law.)

Baptism is a big deal to God. Such a big deal, a person was sent in advance of Jesus specifically to baptize people to prepare for Jesus. It was a big deal to Jesus that He was baptized Himself, and invited those around Him to be baptized. It's such a big deal it even says in the Bible to be baptized. It's written in the form of a command. It is a conditional statement. Do this, and this is the result. Whether someone likes it or not salvation is mentioned in the same sentence in Acts 2:38 for example. Also read: Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21, John 3:5, Galatians 3:26-27, Mark 16:16, John 3:5, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:41.

Just as people were resistant to follow Jesus in His day, we have people who read the above verses and dismiss them as important or "unnecessary." Man tries so hard to perform mental gymnastics to avoid doing something God wants us to do. He comes up with all these creative interpretations of cherry picked verses claiming that when it says to be baptized, it doesn't actually mean it, or is symbolic, or no longer applies, or [fill in the blank].

What it comes down to is do you believe the Bible verses above or not? Do want to follow Jesus or not?

Is there a risk of being baptized? No.

Is there a risk of not being baptized? Yes.

How is this not an easy decision?

Bible clearly says to be baptized, but why is someone who wants to follow Jesus so adamant about not doing it? Physically you're wet for a couple minutes, then you dry off. Similar to what most people normally do daily anyway. So, the hesitancy probably isn't because of that. What else would motivate people to try so hard to disobey Jesus then? Embarrassment? Many do it publicly, but you can also do it privately. What else makes people so desperate to disobey Jesus then? Something inside them is resisting. Maybe searching ones heart and motives and praying and study of the scriptures might help reveal ones real motives behind this.

The "Age of Accountability" matter has come up here before, where someone asked what that age might be - he/she suggested 8 yrs of age, if I remember. Various answers were given, from age 5 to teen years. My understanding of the 'age of accountability', which would differ between children, is the age when the child knows that he has committed sin, that sin is both wrong and is accountable before God, and the child needs to recognize that his sin has separated him from God. And then, to understand the message of the Gospel, to repent, & to receive Christ. If this doesn't happen at this 'early' age, then there will be many children going to Hell without receiving Christ & being born again. Sin is sin, no matter our age - when we do wrong & display our carnal nature, we are accountable for it - there isn't a time of grace where manifested sin is overlooked.

So, when you asked, "So you do not believe in the scriptural "Age of Accountability"?", I do believe in an 'age of accountability', but unsure what you mean by the "scriptural Age of Accountability". Is there one even given, or does that age not actually represent an age in years, but an age of understanding & giving an heart-felt response? Those living in Jesus' Day & under the Law, were taught from childhood about the Law, obedience to it, of God's Character, & days to be observed. They lived under the Law & by it God judged them. After the crucifixion, the Law was abrogated, the Law that only brought death ( Romans 7:10). "for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law" ( Galatians 3:21) & there wouldn't have been a need for Jesus' Death. So, I simply share this to highlight that, pre-Cross, the Hebrew child was taught the Law, of sin & urged to keep the Law (age was of no concern). Post-Cross, the child is alerted when wrong is committed (i.e. God's Law is broken), but now there is an immediate solution found in the Cross, & faith in Jesus.

    Part 2.

Let me pause for a second to say this is not a message on whether we keep the commandments or not. This is about the nature of the Un generated heart of man apart from Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit by those who are in Christ.

When speaking of the law we think of the writings of Moses and the commandments, etc.

Let's take a look at the purpose of the law and the effects and condition of those under it.

    THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW.

    Galatians 3:24.

Also take a look at Romans 7:7 .... (I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.)

THE EFFECTS AND CODITION OF THOSE UNDER THE LAW.

Here in Romans 7:23. we have Paul describing the warring of the old nature and the new nature in a believer.

"But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members."

Here in Romans 8:3-7. we have a picture of the flesh held captive by the curse of the law.

(For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,)

God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, NEITHER INDEED CAN BE.

    THE LAWS CONCLUSION.

So, the law showed us our fallen and sinful condition, and the law also couldn't change the heart of man that's why we have to be born from above. This is what the new birth does and how it is in relationship to baptism. As seen Galatians 3:24-27.

    See Pt 3.

Jesus is the Lord of my life. Sickness and disease have no power over me. I am forgiven and free from SIN AND GUILT. I am dead to sin and alive unto righteousness.

I am FREE from unforgiveness and strife. I forgive others as Christ has forgiven me, for the love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost.

Jesus bore my sins in His Body on the tree. Therefore, I am dead to sin and alive unto God and by His stripes I am healed and made whole.

Jesus bore my sickness and carried my pain. Therefore I give no place to sickness or pain. For God sent His Word and healed me.

Father, because of Your Word I am an overcomer. I overcome the world, the flesh and the devil, by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.

You have given me abundant life. I receive that life through Your Word and it flows to every organ of my body, my heart, bringing healing and health.

Heavenly Father, I attend to Your Word. I incline my ears to Your sayings. I will not let them depart from my eyes. I keep them in the midst of my heart, for they are life and healing to all my flesh.

No evil will befall me. Neither shall any plague come near my dwelling. For You have given Your angels charge over me. They keep me in all my ways. In my pathway is life, healing and health.

Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses. I receive your life into my body, Jesus

Therefore I refuse to allow sickness to dominate my body. The Life of God flows within me bringing healing to every fiber of my being. My breathing will obey My Lord.

I am redeemed from the curse. Galatians 3:13 is flowing in my blood stream. It flows to every cell of my body, restoring life and health, breath.

My faith rests in You, Jesus.

Do Not take away or add to the word of god. If the bible says ( Baptize ) it means Baptize. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT WATER BAPTISM Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be ( baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 1 Peter 3:21 Mark 16:16 Acts 22:16 and this scripture explains this very clearly! John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,( Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ) Romans 6:4 - Therefore we are ( buried with him by baptism into death:) that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Galatians 3:27 Acts 10:48 Matthew 28:19 Acts 10:48 Matthew 3:16 Acts 8:36-39 ( And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain ( water:) and the eunuch said, See, here is ( water;) what doth hinder me to be baptized? Gods word says Baptize it means baptize ( there is no scripture that NULLIFYS WATER BAPTISM ) Further more ( Revelation 22:19

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. God has a plan for salvation and we have no right to change it by our interpretation of the word 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: These are not my word, they are scripture By Which we as CHRISTIANS must live by. I submit this in the love of Jesus and the hope of seeing his will, that NO MAN SHOULD PARRISH !
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Hi Gigi.

It shows even in Exodus when the Law was ordained the outward cleansing couldn't get you into the presence of the LORD.

There was no new heart of flesh!

No rebirth, No death of the old man, Just symbolic cleansing and sacrifices that pointed forward to one coming and also even then highlighted the inability of man to cleanse himself from sin.

Our best efforts apart from Holyspirit cannot present us blameless, nor can it restore us!

We are cleansed, saved, sanctified and kept by the Spirit IN US.

This particular area of scripture is highlighted in Galatians 3:23-24. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

This is where the Law began.

Sometimes we loose sight that the Gospel was preached to Abraham 430 years before this point.

Galatians 3:17. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. So when we take in all of Galatians 3. with the giving of the law by Moses we see the purpose of the law and the reason why it is called the ministration of Death and Paul said when the Law was given it slew him.

    Romans 7:7-11.

    2 Corinthians 3:6-10.

The purpose of the law was in mind when it was first given and illustrated with the barriers in Exodus.

    God bless.

    Annie:

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, but it (the inheritance) is no more of PROMISE, but God gave it to Abraham by PROMISE.

We have to know what this PROMISE is.

    The PROMISE was A SEED.

Luke 8:11 ....THE SEED .....is THE WORD OF GOD.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the WORD (THE SEED), and the WORD (THE SEED) was with God, and the WORD (THE SEED) was God.

Now we know Christ is the SEED, but Christ is also the ANGEL of the Lord; therefore HIS SEED, those born of GOD will also be an angel, because we have become ONE.

Ephesians 2:15 ....for to make IN HIMSELF ONE NEW MAN.

Isaiah 63:9 ....and the ANGEL of HIS (the Father, SPIRIT) presence SAVED THEM.

    Christ is the ANGEL.

A SEED always duplicates itself, wheat seed always makes wheat seed, it's a LAW of GOD.

When Christ the SEED is planted in you; at maturity you will be the exact same SEED: two; you and Christ, become ONE.

Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added for transgressions, till THE SEED (the WORD, Christ); could come to whom the promise was made; and it (the SEED) was ordained by angels (THE SEED of the SEED) in the hand of a mediator.

1 Timothy 2:5 For the is ONE GOD (ONE SEED), and ONE MEDIATOR, between God and MEN; the MAN Jesus Christ (the SEED).

Psalms 82:6 I (the WORD, the SEED) have said ye are gods (SEED made like the SEED planted), all of you are the children of the most HIGH (the SEED).

    THE SEED IS ETERNAL LIFE.

1 Timothy 6:16, ...who (the SEED) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light ....

    God Bless YOU!

What does Paul mean in Galatians 3:19 when he says the law was given by angels to Moses, when we read in Exodus that God gave Moses the 10 commandments? Is there not a contradiction as God spoke to Moses but Paul says the law was given by angels to Moses, the mediator?

It helps if you describe briefly what kind of warfare you're going through. It can be physical, mental or emotional or spirits.

I went through the whole list. With Jesus inside of you, "they" know their time is over. Satan will accuse that you are not saved! That hurts but is not the Truth. I tell everyone to write the date of salvation in your Bible. "It is written!"

    LUKE 11:24-26

Christ sends the evil spirits away. But if we neglect feeding on the Bible frequently; building up our most holy faith..

The spirits may return: Luke 11:24-26 (the stronger man is Jesus 11:21). You must furnish yourself with Bible, Praise, and Assembling with the church folk)

    A reading list for you:

    Ephesians 6

    * Acts 19:19

    Galatians 3:13

    Luke 6:28

    Matthew 5:44

    Ephesians 2:13

The angels are sent by God, so we can ask in prayer for their presence in our homes. Act on the promises of the Lord. God wants us to go on from being milk fed baby Christians, to stand up and be warriors of FAITH in ahi's Word.

Brother Giannis none of this section isn't directed towards you, and thank you for sharing.

    Galatians 6:16.

Here's a verse that the replacement theologist often uses.

They combine that with Romans 9:6 and off they go.

Totally ignoring the surrounding scriptures and the context of the chapter, sometimes several chapters such as Romans Chs 9,10,11.

Let's look at the Israel of God in Galatians and the false teachings of some.

Here's the situation Paul is dealing with. Galatians 3:1-5.

You have to include the previous verses to get the context.

Galatians 6:12-16. Paul is talking about the Church, BUT what is often missed is he divides them into 2 groups.

Vs. 15) For in Christ Jesus neither CIRCUMCISION availeth any thing, nor UNCIRCUMCISION, but a new creature.

Vs,16) And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on "THEM," and mercy, and upon the "Israel of God."

Notice THEM in verse 16, "Uncircumcised, Gentiles"

The Israel of God, " Circumcised! Messianic Israelites". Children of the promise mentioned in

    Romans 9:8.

So you see also in Romans 9:6, Paul is referring to those offspring of Abraham whether Ishmaelites, Arabian, Egyptian, or Israelites.

And those of the Promise, The remnant,

For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

    Galatians 4:22-23.

    Here's the Context.

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

    Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 9:3-5.

You see if you put it in context it explains itself.

You have to twist a lot of scripture to make these passages the Church.

    God bless.
  • S Spencer - 1 year ago
    Hi Giannis.

    Part 1

As I promised I would get back to you on your reply and questioning.

Let's start with the verses you gave as the promises that Israel forfeited over to the Church.

    1. Genesis 12:1-3,

    2. Genesis 12:7,

    3. Genesis 13:14-17,

    4. Genesis 15:5-7

    5. Genesis 15:13-15,

    6. Genesis 15:18-21,

    7. Genesis 17:4-10,

    8. Genesis 21:17-18

You stated, "Abraham and his seed pass to Jesus and His children. and you say according to

Galatians 3:16. Paul atributes these verses to Christ it is obvious that they are for Israel as well.

    Let's look at Galatians 3:14-17.

If you notice in the link the promise/covenant was not a land covenant. Verses 2-8 you gave are all the land covenant.

Did you notice in Genesis 15:15-17. God told Abraham he would die before they would enter the land?

Look how Stephen put in Acts 7:4-5.

"and is is after God performed the covenant!!" So when will he inherit it? Hebrews11:8-10.

Now the 1st verse is a preview of both. The Promise his seed going to be given land. "Israel"

( and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. ) "Christ"

This is the only portion associated with Galatians 3:16.

Here is the covenant Paul is speaking of in Galatians.

( And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

    That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; AND THY SEED SHALL POSSESS THE GATE OF "HIS" ENEMIES;

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. )

    Genesis 22:16-18.

The Gospel was preached even before there was a law to be broken.

    Galatians 3:8.

    " Important verse"

I removed "if it" because I believe it's in italics and shouldn't be there.

( Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet be confirmed, NO MAN DISANNULLETH, OR ADDETH THERETO.) Galatians 3:15.

    Part 1.

DearSpencer, lets talk about God's promises to Abraham.

Lets go to Genesis. The verses that describe God's promises to Abraham are the following:

    1. Genesis 12:1-3,

    2. Genesis 12:7,

    3. Genesis 13:14-17,

    4. Genesis 15:5-7

    5. Genesis 15:13-15,

    6. Genesis 15:18-21,

    7. Genesis 17:4-10,

    8. Genesis 21:17-18

Now in most of them God gives His promises to Abraham and his seed. Who is this seed. the obvious answer is that it is his biological descedants. Paul in his epistle to Galatians 3:16 disagrees, he says "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.". So we can agree that all the promises given to Abraham and his seed pass to Jesus and His children, Which are they? The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and the 8th. Only one is left the first. You will argue that although Paul atributes those verses to Christ it is obvious that they are for Israel as well, the land covenant as you call it. You are right about that. But that promise that Cannan will be given to Israel by God wasn't fulfiled when Joshua and his descendants conquered that land? Yes it was. So what other promise/covenant given to Abraham is left to be fulfiled? I cannot see any other, correct me if I am wrong. GBU

    Hi Giannis.

    Again thanks for your reply.

We're in agreement with the blessings of Abraham to all people by faith.

But we are in disagreement that the keeping of the law binds those promises. Galatians 3:17 says otherwise.

    You mentioned Matthew 19:28.

    Now quoting you concerning judas.

    Your quote:

"Remember that Jesus said to all 12 apostoles, including Judas, that they will sit on thrones to judge the 12 tribes of Israel. Did that come true for Judas? No, because Judas at the end walked another way. What is then happened to that promise given to Israel? It was gone as soon as they crucified Jesus and took some other way. God's promises are never unconditional,"

    End quote.

Judas didn't catch Jesus by surprise and he was prophesied to betray Jesus in the old testament. And early on in John 6:70.

Take a look at the verse you referred to.

"And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have FOLLOWED ME, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."

    Several things here.

Jesus sitting on his throne doesn't depend on his disciples following him. If so it wouldn't be still expected after Christ was crucified, as seen here in Acts 15:14-17. and elsewhere in scripture after the crucifixion.

Jesus says That ye which have FOLLOWED ME. A desciple is one that follows one's teachings . Does that sound like Jesus?

When were they sent out with the power and influence of the Holyspirit? After Jesus resurrection and after the death of Judas. Paul was born out of due season. There's your twelve.

Concerning 1949. yes they're in the land but is Christ sitting on David's throne?

They won't behold him as a nation until they say blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord. And is the lion laying down with the Lamb? Is the devil chained a thousand years? None of the Millennium prophecies have been fulfilled. See Isaiah 65:19.

    God bless.

    Amen Brother Jesse!

God called out a Gentile and made a unconditional covenant with him and confirmed it with a Son. The Child of promise. And we're children of the same promise.

It has nothing to do with Israel or any other people inability to keep the law. So why would God void his Promises to Israel and give those promises to another gathered people who cannot keep the law.

    See Galatians 3:17-18.

And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

    Here is what's being challenged.

Hebrews 6:13-19. Touching this unconditional covenant I believe you see it performed in a unconditional manner in Genesis 15. when God put Abraham to sleep and performed it by himself.

We are joint heirs in that promise.

    " Galatians 4:28."

Some lay it on Israel to initiate Gods promise or it will be taken away is in the same group that says you can loose your salvation.

So the Church has not taken over the promises to Israel,

The Church also is not spiritual Israel. And the Church is not the Israel of God.

God fulfilled his promises of the first coming of Christ and he will fulfill the many promises of Christ second coming and set up His literal Millennium kingdom here on Earth.

    Thank you and God bless.

I think Galatians 3:29 is a very powerful verse. Please pay special attention to that " AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE". I think it is very obvious then...

    Hi Giannis.

Are we heirs of the promise? Yes.

Are we as Issac children of promise? yes. These particular promises you are referring to in " Galatians 3:17." has nothing at all to do with " Replacement theology "

Here we are talking about promises to the NATION OF ISRAEL

All through the scripture God promised to restore "THE NATION OF ISRAEL." and set up a literal kingdom here on earth.

    Concerning Romans 9:6-8.

vs 6, Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For "THEY are not all Israel, WHICH ARE "OF" ISRAEL:

This verse doesn't include us Gentiles at all. At this particular junction. Paul is making a distinction between the natural seed and the spiritual seed of the natural / Kinsman offspring.

There has always been an remnant. The distinction is to show the seed is not recond on birthright alone, if so the Ishmaelites would be included.

    Key verse: Romans 9:3.

    Are we Paul's

    kinsman in the flesh? No.

John 10:16. says there is 2 sheep folds that will come together and become one.

Israel is one of these sheep folds.

These verses doesn't apply to us.

    Romans 11:1-5.

    Romans 11:25-26.

    Romans 11:27.

Here in Romans 11:28-30. notice the distinction in the words like "they" and "their" that shows there's 2 distinctive groups.

"As concerning the gospel, "THEY" are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, "THEY" are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through "THEIR" unbelief:"

God will turn again to the NATION OF Israel.

    Acts 15:14-17.

The context of my post is on a literal Kingdom here on earth and we are not the children/nation of Israel whom certain promises was given to.

    God bless.

Brother Spencer, Please read Paul's epistle to Galatians. I am pointing out some verses:

Galatians 3:7 "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham."

Who are Abraham's children. Verse 7 says those who are of faith are the ones, that is us the Christians

Galatians 3:26 and 29 " 26 - For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus./ 29 -And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Verses 26 and 29 say that if we are Jesus's children then we are Abraham's children as well.

Also read Romans 9:6-8 "6 -Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: /7 - Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called./8 - That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed."

The above verses say that not all biological children of Abraham are his children, but only the children of promise. The children of promise is us, the Christians.

It is obvious that the children of faith/of promise, these are the true children of Abraham. Who are they? Christians are. Both gentiles and Jews that believe in Jesus Christ.

So the promises given from God to Abraham pass to his children who now in the NT is the Church.

  • The Commandments and Love - In Reply on Matthew 4 - 1 year ago
    Matthew 22

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets.

The Commandments help us keep our lives straight; but loving our neighbors with the God-kind of Love is harder than it sounds. We do it because it is a commandment.

One of my favorite stop offs is The School Master in Galatians 3, the purpose of The Law.

Emphasis on Galatians 3:29 and 4:9.

In my experience, we cannot attain to the God-kind of love (agape) until we set aside everything that is holding us back.

    * Storge - empathy bond.

    * Philia - friend bond.

    * Eros - romantic love.

    * Agape - unconditional "God" love.

  • THE STORY OF TAMAR-for those who asked about her - 1 year ago
    2 Samuel 13

David loved God, loved his family and loved his country. He was vulnerable through his deep love for all.

Amnon had a dirty old uncle encourage him to pursue Tamar (Absalom's sister). The uncle tells him what to do. Tamar tried to reason with him that as half sister, David might give her as a wife. Amnon only wanted what he'd been whipped into a frenzy for. After the rape, he didn't want anything to do with her. Nobody told David about it. David did not know what was going on, in his own household but he found out. He was angry at Absalom.

Tamar went to live in Absalom's house; in seclusion. Absalom simmered in anger 2 years before he dealt with Amnon.

Tamar is shown in David's genealogy; which is unusual.

Absalom was married? It's recorded he had 3 sons that must have died at birth because they are not in the genealogy. He had 1 daughter and he named her Tamar too. She was a woman of fair countenance like her Aunt Tamar. I don't know how long she lived.

Absalom did many many evil things. He raped all of his fathers concubines in full sight of town; and more. 2 Samuel 15

Abdalom died hanging in a tree by his long beautiful dreadlocks. Joab is fetched and he stabs Absalom in the heart with 3 arrows; the troops with him smote and slew him afterwards.

To conclude: the better question is what happened to Absalom's 1 daughter, that he named Tamar. Females were not in genealogies as a rule.

I think David's daughter Tamar died of a broken messed up life. I think In honor of her suffering, Absalom named his daughter Tamar, also. There is no record of the end of her life.

Galatians 3:13 says, CURSED is any who dies by hanging on a tree. Absalom died on a tree. Judas died on a tree. Jesus died on a tree so that WE ALL MAY LIVE ETERNALLY.

David's psalms represent a lot of heartache over his life, his kids, his choices. He loved large.

    Galatians 2:16 -

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

    Galatians 3:

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith

We cannot be saved BY the keeping of the law. Our obeying God's Word is the fruit of the indwelling of the Spirit BECAUSE we are saved. We must rest our whole foot of faith on Jesus, Who is the only One Who kept the entire law for our sake, that His righteousness might be imputed to us. Amen! Praise the Lord!

    Blessings!
