    Dear S.Spencer,

Thank you for this in-depth study. I appreciate it.

My only comment is to your last statement on this post.

I do not think that anyone on here is really stating that they are trusting in one's ability in keeping the law. I think that this is a misrepresentation of what some are saying on here. Most on here agree that we are made righteous by faith in Jesus; that His work of salvation, perfect life, and perfect sacrifice is all we need to trust in for our right standing with God.

Most on here believe that it is through God's grace that we come to salvation; it is a gift from God and not earned. Most on here believe that being under grace frees us from the curse of the law and the need to try to attain righteousness by keeping the law. Most on here believe also that Paul repeatedly teaches believers to live godly lives and speaks against engaging in sins such as enumerated in Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:9; Ephesians 4:17-32; 5:1-12; 1 Corinthians 6:8-10; 10:6-11; Romans 6:11-14; 13:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; Hebrews 13:4-5; because we are to walk in the Spirit and produce the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus also speaks to this in Rev. 22:14-15.

Therefore. I think it is improper for one to say things that will discourage believers from practicing godliness in their daily lives. Paul taught clearly that believers are to avoid that which is sinful. So, as a believer, I do not wish to covet, lie, steal, be sexually immoral, kill another, dishonor my parents, disregard sabbath resting, use the Lord's name improperly, set up any idol, or worship an idol, along with may other sinful actions Paul spoke against in his epistles, and in the words of Jesus, Himself.

One who is loving God and loving others will not make a habit of doing these sinful things, but only what good that is of the Spirit's grace and power in a believer's life. We are not talking about law keeping as it was required in the OT, living in obedience to God instead of in sinfulness.

Hello Bennie. Both 'election' & 'predestination' are never in the power or domain of mankind, but rests entirely in the omniscience & purposes of God. Most don't see much difference between those words as they both denote 'a special selection to receive a specific result'.

But the difference is apparent, where the 'elect' are the specially chosen of God (i.e. of Israel: Romans 11:26-28; and of the Church: Romans 8:33; 1 Peter 1:1,2; Colossians 3:12). And those of the elect (the Church now, as "blindness in part is happened to Israel" ( Romans 11:25), are predestined for a reason: Ephesians 1:11,12, to give praise to God's Glory (in His Love, redemption plan, life in the Spirit; all that Israel failed to grasp. And Ephesians 1:5, predestined to become His adopted children by Jesus Christ's Sacrifice; again that which Israel forfeited by their rejection of their Messiah). Though the day will come, when Israel will re-enter that blessed position when they bow before Jesus ( Romans 11:15-26) & both saved Jew & Gentile will share together as God's family.

I shared the above, though that wasn't your enquiry, as I hope that you might see that both 'election' & 'predestination' is all of God's Work according to His Will & Knowledge. We know that we are blessed in being God's elect & have been assured of adoption into His family, & that happens only after our own humbling before Him & repentance, being drawn to God by His Spirit & then receiving His Spirit into our lives. Israel had every opportunity to truly be God's children & servants, but they never bore His Light to the world, rather lived in spiritual darkness. 2 Timothy 2:19: "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his." God know those who are His - His Seal is upon them, they are the elect. Our knowledge of our election is when the Holy Spirit does His Work in our hearts, confirming His Work of Grace & giving us the assurance of eternal life.

Hi Walter. As you might appreciate, countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, etc. didn't exist in Jesus' day. These countries (& others) were all part of a large area referred to as Scythia. And this area stretched from today's Kazakhstan in the East through the Ural & Volga regions, onto eastern Ukraine.

For added information, if interested, the Scythians were a nomadic people but quite fierce & warlike, often conducting raids into the southern areas (below the Black & Caspian seas). Maybe, that's why the Apostle Paul referred to them in Colossians 3:11 when declaring the comparison between Jew & Greek, those of the circumcision & uncircumcised, Barbarian (primitive/uncivilized), Scythian (warlike), & those in bondage (slaves) & the free. He was trying to cover the whole range of people groups, no matter who they were & what their beliefs & culture, that IN Christ they (& we) can all be one.

Charity and it a manifestation of love and not love itself. Jesus said when you do unto one of the lest of these you do it unto me. 1 Corinthians 13:13

"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."

    1 Corinthians 16:14

"Let all your things be done with charity."

    Colossians 3:14

"And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness."

2 Thessalonians 1:3 | View whole chapter | See verse in context

    We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

    1 Peter 4:8

"And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."

    Hello Joe Rak,

Interestingly some people will think for sure they're going into Heaven & aren't. Matthew 7:1-27.

Yet encouragingly many that didn't think they're worthy do. Matthew 25:31-46,

    Luke 16:1-13, Colossians 3:23-25, James 2, Ephesians 2, Hebrews 10, - Hebrews 11, Jude 1

I hope you find these scriptures helpful :

Luke 22:69, Psalms 110:1, Psalms 110:4, later referenced to clarify Jesus' priesthood Genesis 14:18, Hebrews 7,

    Psalms 110:5-6

Hopefully these scripture references are helpful.

    Hi Kathy,

I would like to add to the truth Cait has given referencing Hebrews 12:18-23. For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

BUT YE ARE COME UNTO MOUNT SION, AND UNTO THE CITY OF THE LIVING GOD, THE ( HEAVENLY JERUSALEM, ) and to an innumerable company of angels,

To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Notice the contrast. In Exodus 19:10-12. THE LORD TELL MOSES TO SANCTIFY THE PEOPLE AND TELL THEM TO WASH THERE CLOTHES, and bring them the third day, and they still couldn't touch the border of the law given mountain!!

In the Heavenly Jerusalem God don't wash garments, he gives new ones.

    Zechariah 2:10-13.

    Zechariah 3:1-9.

    Ephesians 4:20-24.

    Colossians 3:9-10.

    Parallel-

Galatians 4:21-26. Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

WHICH THINGS ARE AN ALLEGORY: FOR THESE ARE THE TWO COVENANTS; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

BUT JERUSALEM WHICH IS ABOVE IS FREE, WHICH IS THE MOTHER OF US ALL.

    Romans 8:3-4.

A general area to study in.

    Hopefully someone will add.

    God bless.

I like to answer biblical questions mostly with Scripture because I believe The HOLY Spirit will teach us.

This full thought of the scriptures you want clarity on : Acts 10:26-46, starts in Acts 10:10-15, with the vision.

Acts 10:28 , I believe Peter was referring to Leviticus 10:10-11, Old Testament Law,

Acts 10:26, Peter didn't want Cornelius to worship him, or reverence him that way, he corrected him.

    Mark 1:1-11, Luke 3:21-22, Luke 4:14-15,

Mark 16:6-17, New tongues, Jesus risen from the (grave), ate with them,

    Acts 7:8, promise of Covenant, circumcision ; Genesis 17:10, Romans 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 7:18,19, Galatians 5:6, Colossians 3:11,

Hopefully these are all helpful & pray for understanding

Hi Catherine. I think you're referring to what is commonly termed, 'Oneness Pentecostalism', or more familiarly, 'Jesus Only Movement'. That is a particular branch of pentecostalism that is not widely accepted even amongst pentecostals. As you asked, "anyone here Believe "Jesus IS God"?" Many of us here would agree with you with that statement, but I also know that Oneness teaching is that the Triune God is manifested in Heaven as Jesus only - to this most would disagree.

The primary reason for my disagreement would be, that Jesus, whether on Earth or in Heaven, is seen as distinct from His Father - Father God never disappears or is infused in His Son. While on Earth, Jesus always spoke to His Father (John chapter 17 is but one example). And after His Resurrection & Ascension back into Heaven, we read that He is at the Father's right Hand ( Acts 7:55; Colossians 3:1; Luke 22:69; Hebrews 10:12; etc.). So with all these before us in God's Word, it would be difficult to argue for three separate Beings within the Godhead, being found in the one Jesus.

I would be quite happy if you wanted to present your case to show otherwise - you won't be considered a trouble-maker - but a sister who wants to express her belief from the Scriptures & from experience. And the matters of being water baptized only in Jesus' Name and speaking in tongues as evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit, have been discussed at length here as well. To find those discussions, go to the Advanced Search, typing in (e.g. tongues, water baptism) & then click on 'Discussions' - hopefully you'll get an idea of what has been discussed already. And you'll even find some who are in agreement with your understanding of these topics.

I have taken that to be wisdom especially when we think to highly of someone & they fall into sin. Putting too much trust in man, woman, their position or title, for example. This was advice maybe through experience.

    Proverbs 6:30, Proverbs 6:23-26,

Hopefully these scriptures are also helpful in reference

    Genesis 25:34, Hebrews 12:16, 1Samuel 25:10-38,

    It is also commanded

    Leviticus 19:15, Proverbs 24:23, James 1:1-10, Colossians 3:25, Ephesians 6:9, Job 32:21, 2 Chronicles 19:7, Deuteronomy 16:19,

Example Luke 20:21, Matthew 22:16, even when trying to trap Jesus they testified that HE wasn't a "respecter of persons"

Jesus was tested by this Luke 4:2-4,

Is it also coincidence that it was a piece of bread that was given before betrayal by Jesus? John 13:18,21-27, John 6:33,

Note: this was a woman betrayer. Judges 14,15,

    Proverbs 11:13, Micah 7:5,

    Deuteronomy 7:3-6,

Yet GOD was doing a work Judges 14:4, Judges 15:20,

    New Testament Ephesians 5:25,28,33, 1Peter 1:22, Colossians 3:19, 1 Corinthians 7:14,

Hopefully these are helpful in your search

Our own spirits testify it's wrong unless there is real danger of harm towards the child/children.

Cases of injustice : Ecclesiastes: 5:8,

In the case of violence : Psalms 140:1,

Ephesians: 6:1, (how can a child obey a parent in the LORD if alienated?) Colossians 3:20,

This scripture might also be fitting for the situation. GOD knows all.

    Romans 1:28-31

    Encouragement :

    Luke 18:27-30

    Hopefully these are helpful.

Hello Walter. You wrote: "if someone is first and last all they are stating the(y) are the only one." If Jesus has stated this (as in Revelation 1:8; Revelation 12:13), could He actually be identifying completely with the One God, from Whom He once proceeded from, as the Word of God given flesh? 'Alpha & Omega' is a very strong loaded phrase that can only be denoted to God, to which the risen Jesus Who sits at the right Hand of God, makes claim to ( Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 10:12; 1 Peter 3:22). If the 'only one God now is Jesus', what happened to the Father, Whom Jesus sits beside? Jesus not only prayed to His Father whilst He walked on Earth, but now reigns with Him ( Revelation 3:21; Revelation 7:10).

Sister GiGI, According to scripture, all mankind IS DEAD (in trespasses), they have no life in them. Christ came and died to COVER the trespasses of ALL MANKIND. He was resurrected so ALL MANKIND could have his life.

All mankind HAS BEEN REDEEMED, and their life is HID with CHRIST.

Colossians 3:3 For ye (all mankind) are dead and your life is HID with Christ in God.

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if the gospel be HID, it is HID to them that are lost.

Mankind is SAVED, they can not lose their salvation, they can not go to hell, their SAVED.

Their lost because of lack of knowledge.

The gospel is bringing this knowledge to mankind.

God will cause them to repent, cause them to believe, cause them to have faith, cause them to love, ect., etc., because it his LIFE IN YOU. Of yourself you can do nothing.

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. Man has no knowledge of this.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (his life) that worketh in you both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure (Because it's HIS LIFE).

    Laverne,

Colossians 3:15 starts out by saying "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts." Please notice that all this comes under "put on the new life." If you're saved and Christ is in you, it's a matter of deciding what way you're going to go. We're to let the peace of God rule in our hearts.

Romans 5:1 says that after having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That's positional. We always have peace with God, but we don't always experience the peace of God. We are no longer His enemy. We are at peace with Him.

    But we're told to let the peace of God rule in our hearts, to the which also you are called in one body;

The word peace, EIRENE in Greek means to be united. The peace of Christ, and the peace of God, it just means to be at one with Him. When I'm under the influence of God's Spirit, the unity that's already existing flows from one believer to the other in one body.

The next command: and be ye thankful. That's not a human practice. That also is a ministry of God's Spirit. It's part of the new life. Just put it on!

Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

    Luke 22:69

Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

    Mark 14:62

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

    Matthew 26:64

Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

    Hebrews 1:3

    Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Timothy This is some heart, when I got born again all of my friends were dopers including guess who. Now all I knew is wow something happened and I didn't want the stuff any more, but I still considered these guys friends I knew them for years. Went to a friends house where they lit up passed it arouncame to me and I said don't need it or want it any more. The fun began why not, are you a narc now are you crazy, if you don't do this we are no longer friends. Then I said I because I was more hurt than anything, at one time none of us did this and we were friends and now that I say I don't want to smoke anymore we're not friends that's insane. I walked out a little confused and hurt but my heart said its O.K.

I did get to witness eventually to all them but of course they considered me nuts.

One of the things to help with deliverance is completely new associations which God can and will provide trust me he did it for me and I'm a nobody. Some additional verses for the mind Ephesians 4:23-32, Philippians 4:6-9, Colossians 3:1-17. I leave you with this, Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His Wonderful Face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace. God Bless

Hi Jennifer Gods knows your need better than anyone else, also he knows your heart, these are for the mind to heal, He sent His Word and healed them. Romans 5:1+2 Peace with God, greatest cargoes of life come in over quiet seas.

Romans 8:28-39 more than a conqueror and nothing [think about that] can separate us from the Love of God which was in Christ Jesus our lord. You and God are not at odds anymore he is your Father and fathers meet the need of all His Children.

1 John 3:1+2 Beloved now are we the Sons of God, also 3:20-22 he's there to answer prayer and needs during confusion quilt, condemnation, because he knows we will deal with this stuff.

2 Timothy 1:7 Anything opposite of these three is not of God.

Change your mind change your heart

Put on in the mind Colossians 3:15-17 also Colossians 1:11-14 and Ephesians 3:14-20 notice how many times Christ is mentioned. We were saved by confessing Romans 10:9+10 and at that time we received the spiritual power that raised Him from the dead that why Paul wrote Christ in us the hope of Glory

Ephesians 4:23-32 Putting on the new man in the mind that's why I said change your mind change your heart. Proverbs as a man thinketh in His heart so is he.

Philippians 4:6-9 Be careful for nothing means anxious in verse 6, now verse 13 notice through Christ again that's the power that works in us.

Colossians 1:11-13 we are strengthen with might and we have been made partakers of the saints in light its incredible.

We have been made more that conquerors through Him that loved and loves us and those scripture are part of that. There are over 400 promises in Gods word to us who believe we can only do whar we know and act on.

    Prayerfully this helps.

Yes indeed GiGi, the LORD God is & can only be Spirit in both His Essence & Form. And through His Being, He is able to send out His Spirit to accomplish His purposes & also His Word to embody it in whatever Form He wishes. For our sakes, His Word became flesh & dwelt among us.

We are generally told that Jesus came down from Heaven for the sake of suffering & death, taking on humanity. I think this is spoken of in such manner as the deeper theological aspect of it is being 'spared' us; i.e. it's easier to say & comprehend that Jesus came down instead of God's Word changed in composition for the sake of sinners. I liken this to asking Jesus into one's heart when invited to repent & believe. Theologically speaking, we are repenting, believing, being born again, with the Holy Spirit (Christ's Spirit) coming to indwell us. Yes, Jesus does come in, but does so by His Spirit - and I support this by the fact that Jesus, as God in the flesh, is ascended & seated at His Father's right Hand ( Colossians 3:1 & others). At least that's the only way I can understand & apply the Scriptures that speak of this matter.

And that's a wonderful stanza of your song - very pointed - very apt. Did you put those words into music? I can almost hear it being sung in Heaven with music written from above.
  • Rick - In Reply - 2 years ago
Hi Jessie Hill Something I keep in mind the spirit in us is perfect we do not sin walking by the spirit but the flesh is weak and the mind is in the category of the flesh, therefore the battle is in the mind putting on the mind of christ to control the flesh to walk by the spirit. Committing sin is not just having a thought it is the carrying out in action of the thought. Now if you dwell or constantly think of negative stuff its just a matter of time before an individual carries out what there dwelling on because eventually they will believe it in there heart. Proverbs Guard thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Whether its positive or negative anything an individual dwells on or thinks about enough they will eventually become or do. Guard your mind Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23-32, Philippians 4:8, Colossians 3:1-14 2 Corinthians 10:5. Prayerfully this helps.

Hello Free. I'm sorry that I missed your comment to me, but will address it now. My apologies.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 11, the apostle is speaking about this relationship within the New Covenant. Before Jesus came to Earth as a babe, the Bible tells us that He was the Word of God ( John 1:1-14). In other words, God manifested Himself to His people, Israel, through the giving of His Word & by His Spirit through His prophets. But now in these last days (i.e. New Covenant days - post Cross), He has spoken to us by His Son, that Word Who was made Man ( Hebrews 1:1,2).

So, now when we see Jesus, He is seen (in the NT), as God made flesh, died, buried, resurrected, & ascended to sit at the Father's right Hand ( Luke 22:69; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 10:12). Jesus holds within Himself the full divinity of God His Father, all His Glory, & receives all the worship ( Hebrews 1:6; Revelation 5:12), but He now remains distinct in 'bodily' form because of His incarnation. And this is a picture of how we will be when translated to live in Heaven ( 1 John 3:2).

Therefore, God as Jesus' Father will always be at the Head, then Jesus as His only begotten Son next in position, then man as God's first creation in God's Image, & then woman made out of man, both of them bearing God's Image.

I don't understand your statement: "Also how do you say we are not under the old law but then makes new laws for women?" The only way I can understand your statement is to say that under the old Law, there was neither need nor provision for women preaching in the Church; there was no Church. This "ordinance" that Paul delivered ( 1 Corinthians 11:2) is entirely based on the risen Christ & His Church - nothing at all to do with any 'old' Law or whether the women of old ministered as prophets, judges, warriors, etc. Under the New Covenant, there is also a new order in His Body, as for those who now worship God in spirit & in Truth. Blessings.

For the life of me, I fail to see how the rapture is connected to the Bible verse in question... 2nd Chronicles 29:30...please help...what I DO see is that while the burnt offering was BEING offered, they used musical instruments, and when the offering was FINISHED then they DID NOT use musical instruments but instead sang with their voices and this is clearly in line with Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16....also in line with God rejecting Cain's offering of things Cain sweat for and accepting Abel's offering of something he had no part in doing...

    It is finished. Part 1.

Is our atonement forever or once Christ freed us it's up to us to Atone for ourselves?

When Christ offered himself, He did it all!

The sacrifice had to be without blemishe.

Jesus didn't need cleansing from sin.

Jesus was sinless throughout his life.

    PERFECT AND COMPLETE.

What's important to Know is the high priest in the levitical priesthood had to offer up sacrifices for himself and then the children of Israel. because it was IMPERFECT. But not Christ.

Hebrews 7:27. Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Jesus was an offering to the Lord for our sins. ONCE! By it we have atonement. He was raised from the dead showing the prophesied sacrifice was accepted.

    HOW ARE WE KEPT.

As the offering of Christ was complete for remission of sins compared to the Levitical offerings because they had to offered often. Can we remain perfect by law keeping and continuous offerings? NO!

Hebrews 10:11-12. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, WHICH CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY SINS:

    But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

1 John 2:1-2. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: Atonement that is (concretely)

Colossians 3:3. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Jude 1:24-25. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

John 10:28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
