I ran across this to add to the explanation Ron gave,
As concerning him reigning from Jerusalem. All the Kings reigned from Jerusalem starting with Rehoboam.
2 Chronicles 11:5

Actually it does say which one was his birth mother over in
2 Chronicles 11:20
And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

I thought the term "devil" was reserved for Satin and see now that it might be used to indicate false gods. Food for thought. I'll research further.
