1 Ki.6:1-14 "Man is the Measure"

"So Solomon built the house, and finished it." David his father had given basic plan which he followed.

"Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,/12And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of theLord, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things ( 1 Ch. 28:11-12)". David in turn received counsel from above which is what v.12 conveys,' And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit which by themselves would not add up. This was dedicated to the Lord.

The temple was laid out on the mount, where earlier Abraham was about to sacrifice his son and where Jesus was crucified. "Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where [the LORD] had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared..."(2 Ch.3:1-NKJV). The Spirit is telling us by Min Max mode how the Salvation Plan simultaneously works with the earth.

No matter whether it is of Moses or King Solomon it was a cube.:The Holy of Holies was located in the westernmost end of the Temple building, being a perfect cube:20 cubits by 20 cubits by 20 cubits. 60 cubits long, 20 cubits wide and 30 cubits high" ( 1 Kings 6:2). When we consider the New Jerusalem in eternity we read the same. "The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal./And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel(Re.21:16-17). Measure of man is incomplete unless it is dedicated to God where each part refers to the living sacrifice of man redeemed from the earth. Thus tabernacles of the earth foreshadow that of the Holy City of God which St John saw coming down from heaven.

1 Kings 6:29 indicates cherubim; winged creatures and plants being carved into the Temple; there are other verses in Deutoronomy and 1 Kings as well. Clearly; we are not to worship angels either but God's presence was to be replicated on earth in a pattern or type of the heavenly throne.

Worshipping an object is different than creating a likeness thereof; and it is the essense of something that is of concern; i.e. the demon spirit of some created life that is exalted or worshipped that is the danger.

I would say in regard to any member of the Trinity that we should NOT make any representation. No matter how well we could represent Christ (probably middle eastern complexion); we cannot show His divinity no matter how artistically accurate or talented we are.

An example I'd use is a picture of the Last Supper. Usually it is used as a reminder of Christ's last day on earth before His sufferings in the garden as well as the interaction of all the Disciples. We don't usually worship it per say. There are icons and such which are of Jesus that some want to use to perpetuate His sufferings; or to worship an image. I would guess in your case it is more likely your kids would do violence to your animal stitching rather than keep it neat and clean in effigy.

Personally; I can't keep pictures of anyone who I am fairly certain died lost; or any other physical keepsake. There are spirits of darkness which will use these things in our minds to try to convince us of the presence of that loved one; THAT is where the danger exists as well. I can say based on the experience of a former pastor's wife that such items can indeed be surrounded by evil spirits (in her case a particular set of silverware that started shaking in her kitchen). It's not certain that will happen of course with any object left over; but my point is that whatever things are associated with can bring what you may call family curses.

This is all true hope I can post this info.

Verse 13-The people had to be obedient and walk according to God's standards in order for Him to be with them. The same is true of us today.

    Benson Commentary

1 Kings 6:7. The house - was built of stone made ready - Hewed and squared, and so fitted for their several uses and places, according to the direction of the architect, that they might be joined together without any other labour than the putting them one by or upon another. So that there was neither hammer nor axe. The stones were laid without any noise, there being nothing to be done but to join them together. Thus it was ordered, partly for the ease and convenience of carriage; partly for the magnificence of the work, and commendation of the workmen's skill and diligence; and partly for mystical signification. And as this temple was a manifest type, both of Christ's church upon earth, and of the heavenly Jerusalem; so this circumstance signified, as to the former, that it is the duty of the builders and members of the church, as far as in them lies, to take care that all things be transacted there with perfect peace and quietness; and that no noise of contention, or division, or violence, be heard in that sacred building; and for the latter, that no spiritual stone, no person, shall bear a part in that heavenly temple, unless he be first hewed, and squared, and made meet for it in this life.

    Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

6:1-10 The temple is called the house of the Lord, because it was directed and modelled by him, and was to be employed in his service. This gave it the beauty of holiness, that it was the house of the Lord, which was far beyond all other beauties. It was to be the temple of the God of peace, therefore no iron tool must be heard; quietness and silence suit and help religious exercises. God's work should be done with much care and little noise. Clamour and violence often hinder, but never further the work of God. Thus the kingdom of God in the heart of man grows up in silence, Mt 5:27.

If man was created in the image of God and you defile the man does that inturn that you wish harm upon God in your thinking hoping to injure and pierce a body that can be part of the lord's body.
  • Growing Up in God through His Word: Jesus - In Reply on 1 Kings 6 - 1 year ago
The only way to grow strong in knowledge of who the Godhead ( Romans 1:20) is by reading Gods Word. The Bible.

We are to desire the sincere milk of the Word. Grow up some and add in the Bread of the Word. Lastly to eat the meat of the Word and become even stronger in our faith.

I began in the Gospels because I had a burning desire to know who Jesus is. I saw Him in a vision when I was saved. But I didn't know who He was to me. My appetite for more knowledge grew and grew; the more I found out, the more I wanted to know everything He had for me in this life I live.

We need to know what the Armor of God is. How to put it on. Our Sword is made bigger and sharper, as we grow up in Gods Word_ the Bible Scriptures. Ephesians 6.

When Jesus was fasting 40 days in the Judean Desert, Satan came and tempted Jesus. Jesus fought back and prevailed by using Scriptures. Our enemies are invisible but we know their around by their FRUIT: chaos, depression, suicide, murders, thefts, violence of all kinds.

Angels are invisible too. They serve only God. But if we need help quick we can ask God the Father for angelic help. You see this in the Lords Prayer: deliver us from Evil__. The Body of Christ needs to rightly divide the Word of Truth concerning angels.

We are only helpless until we understand how it works, through the principles laid down in the Lords Prayer. It tells us what we have in Jesus Christ.

Jesus gave us Power and Authority by going to the Cross for us. His Blood is as Holy and powerful as the day he suffered and died for our sins.

We are blood bought children of the Most High God. We need to find out what it means, and use it against Satan and his principalities, powers and evil spirits.

They should fear every day we wake up. The Word in our mouths will make them flee. If we practice sin, they just smirk at us.

Tip: the Holy Spirit likes that Johnny Cash ding: I walk The Line. He sings it with me.

These scriptures really apply to "Believers in Christ Jesus" & all that will believe : He was bruised for our transgressions, Isaiah 53, Psalms 22:16, Zechariah 12:10, John 19, read through the chapter to see Jesus' piercings, for us. John 3:15-21,

When we believe in Him, we become a new creation, 2Corinthians 5:17-19, therefore we try to: Ephesians 4:24, in that we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to GOD : Romans 12:1,

Revelation 1:7, I believe the weeping & wailing will be because the amazing person Jesus is & the humble man, with His scars who did it, just for us to be with Him, in His Kingdom : Luke 23:32-48, Matthew 26:28,

Jesus sat with sinners: Matthew 9:10-13, Jesus healed, delivered, feed & accepted the people including harlots, sinners, etc. Just read the Bible & see.

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Thanks Giannis.

In the past I've used that analogy of the puzzle pieces. The Gospel paints a picture starting from Genesis.

The problem often comes when one have a picture in mind and try to fit pieces of the puzzles together that don't belong so they have to reshape the surrounding pieces to there liking, usually by spritualizing all the pieces/scripture, or they take one piece of a puzzle/scripture that represents their picture and try to fit it in a 1000 piece puzzle that it doesn't belong to, so they reshape the 1000 pieces by spritualizing.

    Here's an example.

Who's the writer referring to here?

"Therefore my people" are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

    Isaiah 5:13.

I've heard it taught that this was all of creation. ( A piece of puzzle that don't even fit the chapter or anywhere else in the 66 books. )

But if they would let the scripture say what it is saying you would find the answer throughout the chapter, especially verse 7.

"For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry"

    Isaiah 5:7.

Here's just a few of many other puzzle pieces.

    Exodus 3:10.

    Exodus 5:1.

    Exodus 8:23.

    Leviticus 26:12.

    1 Samuel 2:28-29.

    1 Kings 6:12-13.

    Isaiah 1:3.

    Isaiah 10:24.

    Isaiah 14:25.

    Jeremiah 1:16.

    Jeremiah 2:11.

    Ezekiel 11:20.

    Ect...

There's hundreds that reference Isaiah 5:13. to Israel!!

And Hosea 2:23 suggests God's not done with them. Also Romans 11:1.

God is in the generation of the righteous. Psalms 14:5.

We become his people by seeking him, not everyone will do this.

Zachariah gives a distinction between between the heathen nations and God's people. Zachariah 8:7.

    Another distinction.

Mathew 7:21-23. You can't be his people and he not know you.

    Heresies are built this way.

    God bless.

Hi Mishael, your right, we all should read Job 38. It is amazing and unimaginable we are as a speck compared to the glorious power of God and to know, He loves us and gave His only begotten Son for us to live through Him.

    Thanks, Ron

Hi Sacha, you can feel the sincerity in the words of your posts they shine, and I agree, may the ones we help and show compassion to, will see who has given us the strength to come through our trials.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

God bless you and your family, Ron

  • Mishael on Book of Job 38 - In Reply on 1 Kings 6:38 - 3 years ago
Absolutely! Some of us are living Jobs life.

He was a righteous man. Yet he learned some things about abiding love; the magnificent power of God.

We should all read the part about God's storehouses of rain, hail, snow; it's relevant now.

JOB 38. (Read all of it)

22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

    23. Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

Little prairie chickens hide in the bushes; always eyes downward looking for their food. Never looking UP at what is above their heads.

The eagle flys far above the ground, miles above. His vision is so acute and great, he can spot his food at a very great distance. His prey never sees what hit them.

We feed on Gods Word to gain wisdom, spiritual discernment: knowledge of the Holy. We will NEVER see the enemy if we don't consume Gods Word like it was a buffet of our most favorite foods. If you want 2nds and 3rds, God will provide to satisfy. HUNGER after righteousness, and it will be given.

    This is the TERMINAL GENERATION.

Danette, The book of Job brings up hard questions that are difficult to answer. Why did God allow Satan to take and destroy all he had, his wealth all the cattle and animals, and his family, and for God to allow this on a righteous man like Job? Job had the patience to trust God even while going through the suffering he was enduring. We need that kind of faith. Everyone around Job was convinced he had done a great sin even his wife told him, Job 2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

God may allow trouble and tribulations to come into our lives, but as hard as they may be, we must trust God and remember what our promise is. Our promise is not wealth and prosperity that some cling to, leading many in the way of this world and away from God. Our promise is eternal life by the faith given by the death burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, regardless of what we face in the corrupt world. The story of Job is needed in these times more than when it was written.

We have been told we will have tribulations in this world. It's hard for us humans to accept that God will allow bad things to happen to us for his will. But this message needs to be told especially in the days we are living. We must have faith that it is God's will for his purpose. But if we are used for God's purpose we should rejoice.

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

    God bless us, Ron
