I have only just discovered the books of Esdras and am enthralled. Thank you so much for posting them and explaining why the Apocrypha is no longer part of the Bible as we know it. I find some connections between Esdras and the book of Revelation. My questions are: 1) Do you think there could be any connection between the eagle that ruled over the Earth in 2 Esdras, Chapter 7 and the "snare of the fowler" in Psalm 91? Also, who do you think "Jesus" was in the books of Esdra? Could he possibly be Isaiah? I know that, supposedly the Entity of Jesus did not exist until the virgin birth. However, I've always been drawn to Isaiah as above all of the other prophets and even wondered if he might be the Spirit of Jesus in a human form prior to His later birth of the Virgin Mary. His prophesies spanned many years after he died and I don't believe the explanation that the book of Isaiah was written by different people. He is the one who prophesied most about the MESSIAH and Jesus of Nazareth quoted him a lot. Also, the manner in which Isaiah is said to have died... Any thoughts for me?

I believe the most high dose not change he said not to add nor subtract from his word we must stay and ad be obedient to his comment so it was not his will for anyone to take any of his word away from the rest of his word sin is sin
Well I believe it like this, I believe God is still in control, and the bible was spirit led and if he wanted them added when HIS BOOK was put together, he would have had them added. I believe God led their hearts the way he wanted his word put together. God always has been, is still and always will be IN CONTROL!
Agreed. It may not have been God 's will for previous generations to have had this knowledge accessible to them. They may not have needed it as much as our current generations will. I truly believe we do need it now more than ever, as it appears that much of the past is prophesied to come around full circle. Thank Gods and Goddess for their Divine Plan!
I couldn 't agree more. Who is anyone to say which words should the common people see. How deceiving for only those who seek the truth will find it when it was freely given to all creation to know our God and His Son.

(This is my response to David E. Phelps's 1 Esdras Chapter 5 comment on 10/27/2013, 8:31am).. Please be specific and identify exactly some if not all of your basis in saying that King James did the removal of anything from Holy Scriptures.
I believe it is a very sad and great loss to the world; when a man with just the powers of a mortal king, orders the words of a king that created everything ever created, because he, the mortal king, did not see the importance in it. IT IS THE WORD OF GOD YAHWEY and NO MAN has the right to say what is or what is not HOLY!!

Actually, concerning the 'ereb boqer (evenings, mornings) of verse 14, the Adventists are not in error on this point. It's all in the word order. "Evening and morning" is the Biblical language used for meaning one day. This principle is set forth in the book of Genesis:
"So the evening and the morning were the first day." (1:5)
"So the evening and the morning were the second day." (1:8)
"So the evening and the morning were the third day." (1:13)
And so forth. In the Bible, days begin in the evening. Hence the reason the Lord said "from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath" ( Leviticus 23:32). The morning, then, would be the second part of the day.
However, with regards to sacrifices, this order is reversed. Instead of evening and morning, the language use for offerings is morning and evening. This is made plain in the following examples:
Exodus 29:39
One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight ['ereb].
Numbers 28:4
The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, the other lamb you shall offer in the evening.
2 Kings 16:15
On the great new altar burn the morning burnt offering, the evening grain offering...
1 Chronicles 16:40
to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening...
2 Chronicles 2:4
...for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, on the New Moons, and on the set feasts of the LORD our God...
2 Chronicles 13:11
And they burn to the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense...
Thus the phrase "morning" and "evening" became the staple for signifying sacrificial offerings all throughout Scripture. As Siegfried Schwantes points out, this expression perpetuated into the post-Old Testament when the Apocrypha came about. 1 Esdras 5:50 says, "and they offered sacrifices according to the time, and burnt offerings to the Lord both morning and evening."
Now, if the text in Daniel 8:14 had stated 2300 mornings and evenings, then a case could be made that the passage was, indeed, talking about sacrifices (though, I think, it would still seem that each morning and evening would stand for a day). However, the text doesn't use that order. Rather, it says "evenings and mornings" which, as indicated above, is the language used for a day. So, the KJV rendering of 'ereb boqer as meaning "days" may be a bit interpretive, but it is by no means inaccurate. The translators knew what they were doing in this case.
