    Thank you Bennymkje,

He has blessed us in so many different ways.

God is not looking for quantity but quality, the quality of his Son which is obedience. Many are called but few are chosen. So the point is the Son as the way. "and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." He came to manifest the quality, the doctrine of his Father in his logos aspect. Israel neither had stomach for his deity not for his humanity. In the Gospel of St Matthew this is what we see. In the first part the Sermon on the Mount was his Mission Statement and he demonstrated it in his ministry. In the second half 'the woe to ye' of Matt.23 stand as his indictment of the nation.

I pray that God bless you both with long life evermore. 44years is not something to be sneezed at. He that has begun a good work in your lives shall accomplish it. Trust Him.

This chapter speaks warning to the Israelites before they enter the land.

They are not to be afraid of the strong nations they will encounter when they go forth to take the lands. God promised to destroy the peoples. So it was not up to the might of the Israelites for the victory to occur, but upon the almighty power and will of God.

The part the Israelites will play in the conquest is to destroy ALL the people, ALL their idols and places of worship. The Israelites responsibility was obedience. God named the 7 nations they were yet to conquer.

He commanded them to not intermarry with members of the nations of this land. They are to be a people separate from the idolaters. They were not to intermix with them in marriage, business, and in everyday life. God knows the power of sin and temptation. He was warning them for their good, not just to put restrictions on their lives. It is wise to follow God in this way, to not be involved with idolaters, those who hate God, those who, in ignorance or rebellion fail to worship and serve Him. These idolaters do not have much to offer us in way of relationships. Their company will usually lead us into sin rather than bring reformation to them. But we still are to be witnesses in and out of season.

God promised to make the Israelites fruitful in every way. Being fruitful is a blessing, being barren is not. We should have this same attitude in our lives. We should greatly desire to be spiritually fruitful, fruitful in our work habits, fruitful in our marriage, fruitful in our relations with other believers as we pray and study the Word together.

I am thankful that I married a believer. This was God's doing. It has led us to have a harmonious marriage. We are coming up on our 44th wedding anniversary in a few weeks. God has blessed us so much. May we show gratitude to each other even more so in the years ahead!

    Hello Bob,

I looked into this for you. The word "corn" in Deuteronomy 7:13 is the Hebrew word transliterated "dagan". The BDB definition is "wheat, cereal, grain, corn". With a Strongs number of H1715 "properly grain".

    Hope that helps. God Bless.
  • SkipVought - In Reply on Deuteronomy 7:13 - 3 years ago
    Bob,

The Hebrew word here translated as corn, is done so 37 times in the KJV.

That's what the word meant in 1611.

I wouldn't loose any sleep over that.

And further to your question about 'race mixing', have a look at the following that was prescribed by God to His people, Israel: Exodus 34:12-16; Deuteronomy 7:1-4; Joshua 23:11-13; 1 Kings 11:1-4 (where Solomon disobeyed the Lord in this matter); Ezra 9:10-14 & many more. It wasn't anything about race or culture, but that Israel's heart would be turned to worship the idols that their wives followed, forgetting the Lord Who set them apart as His Own.

And the same applies for the Christian today. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, where the Apostle Paul warns us about entering into any union with unbelievers, whether in business or marriage. Idolatry may not be involved here for us, but the values, ethics & constraints that are upon us as Christian may not always be the same as these others & this is where problems arise & much heartache. However, there is no requirement that a Christian marriage cannot be had with someone from another culture, as long it is with one who is "in the Lord", a believer. Such a union can only receive the blessing of the Lord.

The word homosexuality was not invented until the 19th century:

Homosexual: A term created by 19th century theorists to describe a sexual and emotional interest in members of one's own sex.... The Columbia Encyclopedia.

So when the Bible mentions men with men one should be able to associate men with men with the word homosexuality.

The KJV is so old the word homosexual was not a word when it was written. Some of the newer translations use the word homosexual.

    The New Living Translation

Le 18:22 "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin."

    English Standard Version

1Co 6:9 - "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,'

    Today's New International Version

1 Ti 1:10 - :for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers. And it is for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine .

    The Complete Jewish Bible

De 23:17 - "No woman of Isra'el is to engage in ritual prostitution, and no man of Isra'el is to engage in ritual homosexual prostitution."

    Hello William,

Well, it is known Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for being "abominable" with homosexuality and other things I would believe. As you can read Genesis 19 where two Angels of the Lord came to save Lot and the men of the city came so they may "know" them. As he offered his two virgin daughters to them so they would do nothing to the Angels.

Also in Romans 1:25-28 it is spoken of. Hope that helps.
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Deuteronomy 7:3 - 3 years ago
Hi William, The answer to you first question you may find in Romans ch 1, read vs 1 on down to about 28 to get clarity.

And your other question, where in the Bible does it speak of the difference in the races, and race mixing. You want find race in the Bible as used today, you would find Jews, Gentiles, the heathens, the nations, the church, ect.. God called Abraham out of the land of his father and made a nation out of him, they became the jews, that was their beginning, every one else was Gentiles, Those who are born again out of these two groups and baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body is called the Church. Israel was set apart so God could Demonstrate his Glory, relationship, Holiness, ect.. to all nations. They was not to be joined in marriage and be separated from all nations or they would end up forsaken their God and serve the other nations Idols, no race the way we see it today. However racism probably was active in the world then as well because pride existed, but that's not the focus of mature Christians, We leave that up to the world and we be about our fathers business.

I would like it very much if God would bring Deuteronomy chapter 7 to pass again ,for the United States of America against all the Jesus haters who burn our country, use biological weapons (coronavirus - Bill Gates ), push LGBT rights against the church of Jesus Christ, refuse to repent, support defund the police, support communist democratic party BLM agenda, Muslim brotherhood, communist China, Iran, bohemian grove moloch the horned owl cannibals, illuminati, Freemason, pedophiles, crooked politicians, deep state, shadow government down to hell . Psalm 143 last verse. Most of all, need mass revival. I weep for God's intervention.

    hornet means stinging bees
  • Ann - In Reply on Deuteronomy 7 - 4 years ago
The hornet is mentioned only twice in the KJV Bible, Deuteronomy 7:20 Joshua 24:12. The hornet is an insect, a wasp, and much stronger than a wasp, and it's sting gives severe pain.
  • Stanjett on Deuteronomy 7 - 4 years ago
Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed. what are the hornet?

The only Israelites are the 12 Tribes of Judah Jacon's 12 sons : The first tribe are the negeoes. The 12 tribes consist of the negroes, the Latinos, and the American Indians. All others are gentiles. Study, meditate, ask questions, research.
  • Rita on Deuteronomy 7 - 5 years ago
It is sad to see how you guys are bickering over race. In Romans it says that all who are saved are engrafted Israelites, so no one's color matters. Just ask the Lord to grant you the ability to agape love all mankind the way he does. Be blessed.
  • Moragn on Deuteronomy 7 - 5 years ago
Deut 7:6-8, These verses shows how God don't change and he has a favourite people unto himself. King James 1611, not many has made a comment I wonder why. Is it because it has the hidden books which no one wants to read, but outline the truth to the entire bible.
  • BSP on Deuteronomy 7 - 5 years ago
Verses 3,4~This was the law given to the Israelites. God's command could not be avoided without impunity and King Solomon is a prime example of this.
  • April on Deuteronomy 7 - 7 years ago
Hmm,so basically all the books up till now that I've read are concluding GODs desire for a ONE WAY belief system, all others are a snare unto him and his ordinance, people were literally killed for believing N other forms of God and not following his commandments,so when you see all this other religion and culture,I wonder would they be killed for doing such stuff,I wonder what will happen to them..
  • Faith Coke on Deuteronomy 7 - 7 years ago
True, He also said in His word that He would take the church from out of the church, so it goes to show you that it's not all people who say that they are circumcised is truely circumcise. And yes I know that circumcision in the Spirit is a renew way of thinking and living honoring God's will.
  • Bruce on Deuteronomy 7 - 7 years ago
Faith: For he is not a Jew which is one outwardly;neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew which is one inwardly and circumcision is that of The Heart--- Romans 2:28-29 /--- for they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Romans 9:6
  • Faith Coke on Deuteronomy 7 - 7 years ago
Wow! The term Israel is use for the circumcised heart, its use for those people who are obedient to Christ.
Also, the Gentiles are a people who don't know God and do serve the devil through lack of knowledge, religion, or free will. So when a person turn to Christ they are no longer A gentile, but become part of Israel.

    Wow thank you, Holy Spirit.
  • Irene123 on Deuteronomy 7 - 7 years ago
God loved His people , AND the gentile idol worshippers around them. He didn't just kill the Gentiles; they KNEW of the Israelites long before and how they were saved out of Egypt, but didn't want any part of it - so God destroyed them so His people wouldn't be drawn into their sin, BUT He always left a few for temptation - to see if they loved Him enough to serve Him only.
