Wesley's Notes for Deuteronomy 30:19

30:19 Chuse life - They shall have life that chuse it: they that chuse the favour of God, and communion with him, shall have what they chuse. They that come short of life and happiness, must thank themselves only. They had had them, if they had chosen them, when they were put to their choice: but they die, because they will die.

Discussion for Deuteronomy 30

  • Isaac A Odiba
Choice and obedience are key determinants of what one becomes in the kingdom. Choosing blessings makes one great in the kingdom.

For he is thy life. Thank you Lord that I can say this with full assurance
  • Peter A. Okebukola
The Lord is ever unshaken in His directive to us as contained in the first two Commandments- to love Him with all our heart. Deuteronomy 30: 20 reminds us again: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days.
  • David P. Alaniz
Our destinies are not set. God allows us to make our own choices. If we come to know him through his son Jesus the Christ, in all we do, we will make the right choices in our daily life's which will be pleasing unto him. Although God knows in advance what decisions we will make he does give us the freedom of choice and to have a free will and does not interfere.

Verses 11 through 14 show that God's commandments are not too high or too difficult for us to reach and obey.
  • ShilohS
It does mean that along with us, our line "MAY" accept the Lord, as it says. We will teach them of Him. They will have free choice, of course.
