Colossians Chapter 3 Discussion

    Juanita,

Colossians 3:2 is where we find this. But it starts with Verse 1. It starts out by saying, if you then be risen with Christ,

The word "if" used here is a first class condition assumed to be true. It is literally translated since.

Since you then are risen with Christ, seek those things (There's your command) which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.

The verb tense is continually seek the things above, the things of heaven, and not the things on the earth.

So we have to ask the question, what am I seeking? Every morning when I get up, I'm seeking something. Most of the time it's in the human. We're told that we are citizens of the kingdom of heaven, and we're to seek the things of Christ, not the things of the earth.

In Matthew Chapter 6, Jesus said be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, or what you shall put on. And He explained that man cannot serve two masters.

And in that verse, He explains that God has created every human being to only have the capacity to serve one thing, God or mammon, one or the other. You can't serve both.

And so He says in Matthew 6:33, seek first the kingdom of God, and all these other things that you need will be added to you. You don't have to seek them. In other words, if you don't have it, you don't need it. You might want it, but you don't need it.

So the command under motivation is seek those things which are above. The place is heaven and the person is Christ!

Verse 2 says, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

Again, continually set your affection. And the word affection has to do with the frame of mind. This is the disposition of the mind, the attitude, the approach to life. Have a frame of mind that is set on things above and not things on the earth.

    Hope this helps!

Paul on more than 1 occasion refers to the gospel as a mystery. In the sense that faith works in and through the soul of the believer! This mystery is the sequence of events that will occur, drawing us unto Him! This mystery teaches us wisdom and knowledge , this is redemption! Redeemed in the sacrificed blood of Jesus Christ!

Complete faith in God means no faith in the ideas and works of men. All science is falsely so-called. The only ''government'' is Our Father which art in heaven and He will be our protector in these evil days.

    Psalms chapter 91

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

    5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

    9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

conclusion: no trust whatsoever in mortal medicines

Adam, I cannot tell you what you should do or not do, I can only share with you findings. First, I will not take the shot for THE most important reason. The "vaccines" were developed with aborted fetal tissue! My other reasons are after the "dust settled" I started seeing signs that something fishy about this pandemic. Yes people are dying but people die everyday but it seemed to me people were dying only from covid! That's all I heard, which made me realized there's a lot of fear-mongering going on. With all this talk of the Great Reset, it makes sense now. NWO

Long story short the vaccine came out way too quickly plus I hear talk of altering DNA. That's bad! I decided I'm going to let God's perfect design do it's work i.e. build my immune system. Praying for you Brother, Sean

    Hi Brother Adam,

    Thanks for your response.

Even though we may not agree on the covid vaccine, everyone should have the freedom to consider it for their situation.

Walk in peace ....and may God protect you, your family, and friends.

    God Bless

    Hi brother Carleton,

It humbles me, and gives me joy, that you would like to hear a bit about my life changing experience with the Lord. As we are all Blessed with our Testimonies in how the Lord came in our lives. I enjoyed hearing a little about how you came to the Lord as you replied with some info to someone. As now nothing really matters to me more than God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Here is a post to my Testimony on this page. Link

Please do not take offense to the thing that led me to the Lord as I know it can cause division in the Body of Christ and I don't want that. As I stated it is not really that important to us who believe and are already with the Lord. We should all focus on Him and His Will. Amen.

    God Bless.

    Hi Brother Dan,

Just to give a reply as brother Adam already expanded much about this subject. As I stated first that I can only speak for myself on this matter. Although I will never tell anyone I think they should get this "shot". Even as you gave the list of all those other sicknesses, which don't scare me either, this is totally different. From hearing numerous learned people in the medical field about this "vaccine". The main thing I don't like is how it is to change our DNA. That is bad. Also that they have actually been testing this "vaccine" in labs since the early 2000's. Though it has never made it past animal testing due to side effects and death. They didn't just come up with it, make it, in a couple months.

The only way it was past to be used, on people, was from some "emergency bill" or something. As I myself know people who have taken the "vaccine". It is sad to say but you can never go back after you take this shot. As again it changes your DNA as I'm not able to get too detailed about that but the information is out there. They even say it.

I suffered with epilepsy "seizures" for 17 years of my life. No doctor could ever find anything wrong with all the tests done. No medication, for 17 years, ever subsided me from having them. Even praying many times in tears, through the years, to God that He would heal me from this. Though when I gave my life to the Lord and prayed to Jesus Christ if He would heal me. It was in only a couple days He showed me he was healing me. As now I don't take any medication any more and having seizures is in the past. More than a dream come true. A prayer heard and the hand of the Lord healed me. Something no doctor can do. Praise the Lord!!

Please take this post from my heart brother Dan. As I believe we should trust, have faith, in the Lord over any man. If someone wants to get the "vaccine" I will not condemn them. Though if my opinion is asked for I will speak in truth.

    God Bless you my brother.

Thank you Sacha, Good reasons for all to consider in prayer. Most likely in my family I work in the in the very regulated food industry where I myself will soon be vaccinated. I am very sorry to hear about your friend. and will pray for a better recovery. This past week we prayed very much for a young mother of three children with Covid as she gave birth many weeks early (my wife knows the exact amount of. days). As far as I know she is getting better and the baby is still alive. Anyways have a nice day.

Good morning also Mishael. Thanks too for what you wrote.

Brother Dan, sounds like a way of calling others stupid because they haven't drawn the same conclusion as you. Could they possibly have information that you don't? Have you tried just asking instead of rushing to judgment? "God gave us a brain to reason" can be used on you also. Have you prayed about if whether your position is 'right' before posting your opinion?

First, do you believe 100% of everything the media spoon feeds you or do you think that a % of it is untrue? I would be surprised if someone believed they are perfect, because only Jesus was perfect. Even the media are human and can make mistakes, but sometimes a news story seems intentionally distorted to convey a certain narrative, and sometimes there can be outright lies and propaganda. So, one must question- is the actual number of covid deaths what the media says? What if someone actually researched this and looked at what the CDC says on their website about "comorbidities." If one were to go down that rabbit hole one would find that only 6% of the reported deaths is from covid- that means that 94% of the deaths were reported as multiple causes- flu, pneumonia, heart disease, etc. About 2.8 - 3 million deaths in the US is normal for this population per year, and of those normal deaths, flu, pneumonia, are suddenly extremely low this year. It's almost as if these normal deaths were 'accidentally' marked as covid deaths for financial reasons.

The testing isn't 100% accurate either, antibodies can give false positives and there's different accuracy of tests and some can be retested and get a different result. When you look at over death count for the country, it's not much more than normal for the population. Literature from 80s labels coronavirus only a cold. So, when you rush in an experimental injection to 'cure' something that is 99.9% survivable that doesn't even affect kids, that has NOT killed the # claimed, but 90% have negative side effects of and a % have died from it, is it worth it the risk? WHO just cast doubt on whether the injection even works against coronavirus. Pray and do what's right for your family. God bless.

So this train of thought of not getting vaccinations is illogical. If everyone believed this then we would still be overwhelmed by much of the following:

    Smallpox

    Measles

    Tuberculosis

    Cholera

    Chickenpox

    Shingles

    Yellow Fever

    Polio

    Typhoid

    Whooping cough

    Hepatitis

    Etc.

God gave us a brain to reason, and make logical choices. He also gave us doctors, and science, to be used in a good and helpful way. We pray and believe that God and Jesus Christ will help us, but we also need to help ourselves.

    God Bless

Hi Carleton ,i gave my husband the virus once and he gave me it once so we are even lol ,i dont want the vaccine and neither does he ,my step-daughter works with the elderly and if she wants to keep her job she has to have it , my friends son in his early 40s has been left bed ridden ,emaciated and unable to control his bodily functions by the virus ,its easy to say what we would do but we have to also think of others and be careful ,are we prepared to be responsible for others lives and deaths if they act on our advice ? Im not , we shouldnt wound each others consciences ,especially the babes amongst us . Each of us has been given free will by God , Our God is the Only Everlasting God and He knows our fears and our loves ,God is very very merciful.May all the earth praise praise praise Him and thank Him for His love and mercy towards us .

Good morning Sacha, Glad you are well and your husband and mothers too. Husbands are very blessed by loving wives.

Our family has not been vaccinated, some may and some may choose not. The Lord leads in all things in His time, my little job is to hear and obey. Hope the day is bright outside. :)

Hi mike ,i would never criticise any one for having the jabs ,we are all individuals and all our life circumstances are different ,ive had the virus twice and cancer once and i have other health problems that i take medication for ,God knows our hearts ,there is only one reason i want to be alive and that is my husband ,nothing else in this life makes me want to be alive ,God is very mercifull and understands our weakness ,you must do what you believe is right for you and your family ,if God wants you to live you will live no matter what treatments you have or dont have ,ive been offered but refused the vaccine ,my husband has had the virus and has refused the vaccine ,both our mothers one of whom is a Christian have had the vaccine and thats their choice ,pray to God about it but i dont think we should tell each other what to do ,God is love and He is very very mercifull .
  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 3 years ago
    Hi Mike,

As of coarse I can only speak for myself on this. I will never take that "vaccine" no matter what they try to do to force it on people. Looking over a count only in the USA over 50million people have been fully vaccinated and about 100million people have at least taken one shot or partial "vaccination". And that's only in just over three months. Even being the survival rate, if someone gets the so called "virus", is around 99%. Also nobody gets a normal cold or flu anymore, it's only this "virus" now.

I would say trust in God and Jesus Christ with all your heart.

    God Bless.

Virginia, Saying conveys meaning, and understanding starts in seeing the context the verse is in. That is, read both before and after the verse for context, meaning how it ought to be understood. Mary is the "she" spoken of. Both before and after verse 21 we learn that she is Joseph's wife and a virgin, yet, she is pregnant. The son she is bearing is of the Holy Ghost and a fulfilment of prophecy. The son has a purpose as a savior. The meaning of his name and his life is to accomplish the salvation of God's people.

Study is to gather information and understanding comes when you desire the meaning. When it comes to the Bible, pray/ask God for his help, after all, he is the author and quite capable of revealing what you need to know. I hope this helps you learn for yourself, as God indeed, wants you to.
