  • Steve on Colossians 3 - 9 years ago
This chapter matches well with our spiritual body armor of Ephesians Helmet of salvation in vs one to four and 24, breastplate of righteousness in vs 16, girded loins in vs five to ten and our gospel shoes of peace in vs 11 to 15.
  • Kim on Colossians 3:21 - 9 years ago
Why is it mentioned "do not provoke to anger " in the KJV but just "do not provoke " in most other versions?
  • S. Ridgley on Colossians 3 - 9 years ago
This chapter is used as our daily constitution. This scripture wholly covers the manner in which we must conduct ourselves in serving the Lord. We must mortify our members and choose righteousness in order to please God. When our life is hid in Christ, we become Christ like. He is our role model no one else. He gives us peace and joy when we follow his teachings. We are his servants and we live by His rules. This is perfection of our souls. There is a reward for being holy, as well as punishment for wrong doers. God has respect of persons everyone is included on an equal basis. We will be judged by the standards of Jesus Christ himself.

Our lives in the material world mean nothing to us except in the service of our lord Jesus When living in a group of like minded persons this is how we should live I am drawn to verse 3 16 where we must instruct one another with songs Joyfully teaching and learning is the message I get Wives submit to their husband for sex and other things Husbands have to love their wives and not be bitter about it So wives submit and husbands love without bitterness Both could be difficult depending on the partner but easy if both are following all the other guidelines
  • Desmotti on Colossians 3:18 - 10 years ago
Husbands love your wives It is when you read the definition and requirements needed to fulfill that command Woman would have no problem submitting to the Authority of the Patriarch A true patriarch does nothing without deep council with his Wife It is the desire to serve one another that eludes many when they see this scripture
  • Samuel on Colossians 3:13 - 10 years ago
Very thing that we become the children of is b c God forgive us in Jesus when we all are sinners so to preserve our child right we must forgive others

    Mothers too
  • MockingBird on Colossians 3:23 - 10 years ago
I am to walk so as to please God Much of the time there seems to be an element in me that wants to see if what I am doing is pleasing in the eyes of man I find that what pleases God does not please man even myself The flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh So I must strive to work to please God The pleasing of man is not my eternal reward To walk so to please God is what I will have as a eternal reward in Heaven Every work will be brought into judgment
  • Blessed on Colossians 3 - 10 years ago
You know why so many people are running from church Because the leaders are deceive They use the Bible as a thing to beat people They brain wash people into believing that GOD wants them miserable The verses about wives servants and masters have misconstrued to the point of making people feel like GOD DON T love them Women are to obey their husband If he is your husband he loves you the way Christ love the church Whoever you work for GOD COMES FIRST know this GOD IS omnipresent he see all know all He see you when you work and the strength comes from GOD Therefore whatever you do you do unto the lord Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD and all his righteousness
  • Carla Hutson on Colossians 3 - 10 years ago
I think that the Lord is telling us to keep our hearts on him because nothing in this world is going to save your soul when judgement day comes
  • David Obasi on Colossians 3:2 - 10 years ago
This verse of d bible is advicing us to look away frm d mondain things of this world which will but stand as obstacle on way to eternal life This earthly tins ar but to perish as vanity and they dnt alway give us reasons to seek God in truth and in spirit they don t encourage us but rather discourages us frm obaying the will of God to the latter therefore the bible advices us to set put keep or lay our heart desire goals priorit love or affection on the things above i e heavenly things like the promise of eternal life most importantly the reward for wickedness and righteousness the crown we shall recieve from our Lord etc Having all these and more at heart it is espected that once heart goal ambition and priority will be geared towards obeying God to the latter and making heaven at last so I set mine affection on the things above and not on those on earth
  • John Provenzale on Colossians 3:25 - 10 years ago
I used to think that God would repay recompense (punishment) in the next life only. However God also punishes in this life as well if one considers the Old Testament stories of Eli, Saul, David, etc. & N.T. stories of Ananias & Sapphira, etc. I also have witnessed this happen to people.

This verse shows that no matter what we do in any area of life we should do so whole-heartedly to God. We must make sure that we give God our very best. He deserves nothing less.
  • Evelyn Thomas on Colossians 3 - 10 years ago
Christian people have to stand firm in the word of God against all odds. Especially, their own household.
  • Raymond on Colossians 3:15 - 10 years ago
Peace is one of the benefits of being members of the body of Christ.IN HIM we have peace( John 16:33).Jesus does not give us peace as the world does. His peace is not absence of tribulation. It is about not being afraid of or troubled by tribulation. It only comes when we trust God. Isaiah 26:3 says:THOU WILT KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE, [WHOSE] MIND [IS] STAYED [ON THEE]: BECAUSE HE TRUSTETH IN THEE.
  • Sifon on Colossians 3:23 - 10 years ago
my understanding of this verse is simple.
The word what so ever cuts across every human endeavor, it means our deeds out there should be with the mindset of serving God. many serve God only when they are in the fourwalls of church and turn to something else out there at workplace and home, but if they have this understanding that what ever they do is onto the lord they will live in the fear of the lord every where they Go, thank you.

    Colossians 3vs 22
it means that we should learn to do things the way they ought to be done (rightly); irrespective of who is watching us; in order words, we should not do thing because somebody is watching us, or because we want to gain favour from the person. and remember that your heavenly father who sees you would reward you in due time.

colosians 3:18-21...this verses speaks about the roles to be played in the greatest institution ever created by God.[the family]Wives are to submit..this is neither a sub-ordinate or superior role but a joint leadership role because its a command from the Sovereign.
Husbands are to love..the other joint leadership role which requires lots of TLC.the two above roles when done according to the required specifications of the Manufacturer brings about the platform for the prenticeship role of obedience of children to parents. The fatherhood role that forbids provocation of a child is the last role which builds the character of the child and prepares the next generation for a family of their own..thus its imperative that these roles be observed with utmost diligence.
  • Rose on Colossians 3:13 - 10 years ago
i appreciate colossians 3:13 because it help me to remember that we are all imperfect,we may at times irritate or offend others, and they may do the same to us, Jehovah freely forgives us and we should do the same to others.
  • Nikki on Colossians 3:1 - 10 years ago
the word of God should be in a understandable format so its goodness can be enjoyed i enjoyed colossians 3;1
  • Wade king on Colossians 3:3 - 10 years ago
I believe Colossians 3:3 speaks of the those who have truly accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior, which at that moment have experienced the miracle of being "Born Again". This experience is accompanied by true godly sorrow for their sins and true repentance. (a change of mind that leads to a change in direction) Not aware that they truly died to their old lifestyle of practicing habitual sin. Positioned or hidden In Christ, means they are dead to their former life of debauchery. In my humble opinion this revelation of this scripture takes years to fully comprehend.
  • Jimmy adams on Colossians 3:23 - 10 years ago
I think that God want's us to show his love thru us so other's will won't what is in our hearts.and come to the saving grace of jesus christ our lord. colossians 3:23+24 whatever we do work at it with all your heart as working for God not for man.it is the Lord you are serving not man.
  • Kenneth, Ogbogiya on Colossians 3:3 - 10 years ago
Col. 3:3 is talking about transformation and lifestyle! When you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you are dead to sin. Then the part that says your life is hid with Christ in God, means protection and sustenance. No evil is permitted to prevail against you and your needs will be continually met, according to Phil 4:19.

Notice the first verse---if you then be risen with Christ. How are we risen with Christ???
And verse nine--ye have put off the OLD man with his deeds. How??
Verse 10 And have put on the new man---How???
If you read Romans 6--it will tell you how!!!!
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by BAPTISM
into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
