  • WHO WERE THE NICOLAITANS on Matthew 18:20 - 3 years ago
Who Were the Nicolaitans, And What Was Their Doctrine and Deeds?

But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Revelation 2:6

Have you ever wondered who the "Nicolaitans" were, mentioned in the book of Revelation? Whoever they were, Jesus loathed their doctrine and hated their deeds. Let's delve into this subject today to see if we can ascertain the identity of this group. What was their damnable doctrine? What deeds were they committing that elicited such a strong reaction from Jesus?

Let's begin in Revelation 2:6, where Jesus told the church of Ephesus, "But this thou hast [in your favor], that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."

Jesus was proud of the church of Ephesus for their "hatred" of the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which He also "hated."

The word "hate" is a strong word, so let's see exactly what it means. It comes from the Greek word miseo, which means to hate, to abhor, or to find utterly repulsive. It describes a person who has a deep-seated animosity, who is antagonistic to something he finds to be completely objectionable. He not only loathes that object, but rejects it entirely. This is not just a case of dislike; it is a case of actual hatred.

The thing Jesus hated about them was their "deeds." The word "deeds" is the Greek word erga, which means works. However, this word is so all-encompassing that it pictures all the deeds and behavior of the Nicolaitans; including their actions, beliefs, conduct, and everything else connected to them.

In Deuteronomy 28 was Moses talking to the Israelites about blessing and curses?
  • Bob Grove on Jude 1 - 3 years ago
In verse 2 at the end of the verse it says " the faith was once delivered unto the saints ".

When did this take place ?

Jesus taught the 12 apostles and before and after his crucifixion .

Judas was replaced before Pentecost . The qualifications for the replacement was that He and not she had to witness Jesus from the time of Jesus Baptism by John the Baptist to Seeing Jesus alive from the dead .

These men received the One and only completed faith . The Holy Spirit help in the understanding as Jesus left to be at the Fathers right hand . The Holy Spirit continues to this day to help us understand the written complete faith found in the New Testament . There are no revisions or add ons to the Apostles doctrine found in the books of the Bible .

The doctrine should be very precise not a matter of vague interpretation , of which leads us to many denominations etc and room for heresy to breed .

2 Timothy 3 v 16 , 17 It's all provable in the Bible . Since the apostles passed on evil men have made the faith many things . But the one faith remains in the scriptures , and with the Holy Spirits teaching you can find it and be assured of it ! God bless you as you seek the truth that sets us free from deception .

    Matthew 4, 5

When I began reading the bible over 45 yrs ago these verses really got my attention, but never understood them . I heard many explanations but they did not answer it to me .

It's quoted in Mark and Luke's gospels as well .

This is what they the deceived say about who Jesus is . And I have never met a person that says they are Christ so strike that off the list of meanings .

I Am refers to God so there is a lack of understanding of God and Christ in there profession .

The biblical understanding is that Jesus the Christ is come in the flesh . The Son of God .

    There is a difference .

Who are the many ? And what do they mean ? It's a very difficult subject that only the Holy Spirit can give understanding in . Knowing who Jesus is makes the difference , it's all in the Bible . No need to turn to commentaries or other . Ask the Lord for wisdom and get it .

  • PRAY FOR NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS on 1 Samuel 3 - 3 years ago
Thank the Lord that we do not have to endure this kind of persecution in the USA.

We have really really seriously PRAY for these Christian people who live in a very bad place.

It shows us exactly how murderous the Antichrist will be in the less distant future here too.

Please don't tune it out. Somebody do a serious teaching on The Apostasy and the Falling Away. I believe it's starting to raise its head now.

How many more innocent Christians have to die before the world takes action?

A week ago we told you the number of Nigerian Christians murdered by Islamic radicals had tripled to more than 1,200. We warned you that the deadly violence wasn't showing signs of slowing down.

This week it's now closer to 1,300 Christian men, women, and children who have been targeted for death for their faith. It was just reported that Islamic extremists killed 33 more Christians in about 24 hours.

In a blitzkrieg attack, radical Islamic Fulani herdsmen in armored trucks and motorcycles stormed Christian villages, gunning down helpless victims and burning down homes.

These are not just isolated incidents. It's an epidemic of deadly violence. If the Nigerian government can't - or won't - do anything to stop the bloodshed, we have to.

The ACLJ has gone directly to the United Nations to urge international leaders to intervene. If we don't act soon, it will be too late. We are making an urgent submission to the U.N. in just THREE days, demanding action. (6-20-20)

We're fighting to SAVE CHRISTIANS and defend their right to worship freely without fear of violent persecution and death. We urgently need YOU.
