  • Albright Olajide on Hebrews 4
The Holy Scripture has all manner of dictates, precepts, notions and principles in it that has been given for whosoever believeth. As a matter of fact, God has no choice to do it like that, because, primarily He is the Creator of the Heaven and the earth- and also He created man in His image. Hence, when a person has given his or her life to Jesus Christ as LORD and Saviour, it then connotes that such a person has become not only joint heirs with the LORD, but also that he or she is an agent of righteousness on this planet earth to the glory of he Holy and righteous God.
Hence, the writer of Hebrews in it’s 4th chapter, the reminds the Church of God’s holy promises that are, in His covenant that we ensure that we live in accordance with the Word of the Eternal God. Why is this? It is that we can have what it takes to enter into the blessings of His promises; for therein, there is peace of mind and the type of rest that God has given for they that loveth Him.

However, this of a necessity demands the God kind of faith with particular regards to the doctrine of justification through the weaponry of faith. (Romans 1:16,17)There are many implications to this- it then signifies that as believers, that believes, in the resurrected LORD, we must put our dependency on the living God, through Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the holy Son of God. And that is because, as the author and also the developer of our faith, He knows and understands what we may be going through; for He Himself, has been through it, hence the need for, total reliance on the faithfulness of God, and also on the infallibility of the Holy Scripture. Therefore, when we come to the throne of grace, we know with certainty, that we have a high priest in the God Head, who is ready and as a matter of fact has dispensed and made available His favours that we may obtain it through the tool of faith that honours God. Thus we have been admonished through this 4th chapter, that we may do according to the spirit of the Holy Writ, to the glory of God; for He is forever trustworthy.

  • Håvar Støversten on Ezekiel 21
I believe Syria is part of Ammon,
And i believe the current crisis in Syria is described by God in Ezekiel 21;28-32.

28And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:

29Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.

30Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.

31And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.

32Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.

  • Debbera on Genesis 6
I believe God told Cain in Genesis 4:7 what his end would be. If thou doest well, shall thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall he his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. I believe this is why Jesus kept on impressing on Peter asking him do you love me. When Jesus started to wash the feet of his disciples Peter told him not my feet Lord. Jesus told him if I wash not your feet you have no inheritance with Me. Peter said wash my hands, every part. The Lord told just your feet.
  • RAY MCKENDRY on Genesis 6:5
I think Genesis 6:5 is a text that comes from before the fall and before the promises made to Noah and mankind by God regarding Him not destroying the earth via a general flood again. (Genesis 9:11) Genesis 6:5 is a difficult verse to interpret because of its context which includes "sons of God" and "giants on the earth" (NKJV). Why does this make any difference? Simply because Bible critics have always thought it falls into the realms of "myth." As they say Gen Ch.1-11 do!
I do not believe it's myth; not even technically myth (muthos). But that does mean I understand what the "sons of God" were or why there were giants or what significance the giants were to salvation, man's character, or God's intention in creation.
However, verse 5 tells us that God was finished with mankind and this gives us the explanation why. Man was corrupt to the extent that God was sorrowful and wanted to start again! It seems amazing but He did restart mankind via the flood scenario which was universal. Only 8 people survived the flood and they were far from perfect for they still contained within themselves the seeds of sin and proved this soon after the flood was over. (Genesis 9:21 Noah got drunk and naked and later the people built the Tower of Babel which God stopped and scattered the people. Genesis 11:1-9.)
The doctrine of human depravity is clearly displayed here. It is clear that we have sinned and because we thus display that we all have a sinful nature, we need a sacrifice to appease God whose holy anger burns against us. This sacrifice was revelaed later in the Bible as Jesus Christ. Thank God for His indescribable gift! We all need Him as our Saviour and we need to repent and put our trust in Him.
  • Yochanan on John 1
Bebopp. Surely your words are of none else but of someone who never believed in or even understood the faith contained in the bible. I never liked the church much myself either. But if you read the bible where is the churched ever mentioned as an institution of gods law? Where does it say that you should act like or listen to priests? The bible surely is of god but the church surely is not. Some churches might be lead by men and women of faith, some congregations surely have faithful men and women in them. But some or even many might not have a true faithful soul in them. Just cause you go to church doesn't make you free from sin. Anyone who sins knows this. But true faith leads away from sin. Read 1john2 1John 2 and 1John 3 and understand the message. Understand that truth and gods command only can be found in your own heart. You shouldn't listen to the world, but to your heart, your soul, the spirit god has given you. Your heart knows whats right, so feel it. And only people that are of strong will and righteous character can be people of real faith. Read the following verses. Matthew 24:5, Matthew 7:22-23. Luke 21:8 Mark 13:6. Who do you think they speak of? What does your heart tell you in this matter? So follow your heart in truth and righteousness.

I once looked to the sky,.. and asked. God,.. what's up? I'm walking the path, and everything is falling apart. So,. I decided to open the bible and drop my finger on a random page. As I had done ,.. once before and I fell on the story of Job. I read it and imidiately understood... That,.. even the most perfect person, in the eye's of god,.. will and most likely be hampered by the devils dealings. This is inevidable,. for evil walks amoungst us. So... One: you can get depressed,. angry and scoff at God or Two: Have faith,.. keep the faith in God,.. who will help in due time. Remember,.. Patience is a virtue.
  • Doubting Thomas on Luke 2
The previous comment says that Jesus is in the Davidic lineage through Joseph. I thought that Mary was impregnated by the Holy Spirit not Joseph. This comment harmonizes two different Gospel accounts of the same event. I am asking why Matthew and Luke's Gospel differ? The lineage of Jesus as stated in these two Gospels differ. The events stated differ.

Obviously one account cannot be true. You cannot harmonize these birth naratives without creating your own Gospel. No Gospel writer was a witness to this event.

    See my Matthew 2 comments.
  • Jeff Hopkins on Matthew 10
I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
    I have told him so.
There are many mysteries in the Gospel.
Many of them are for the future, some are for now.
What I do not understand is from
    Matthew 10 verse 34.
Jesus could have called 10,000 angels to save him, however he died for you and me.
Why I ask, did he say that he did not come to send peace on earth but a sword?

    Just a Question.
I mean no harm or confusion.

  • Doubting Thomas on Luke 21
    RE: RE: Timothy Wayne George

So all of the other Biblical translations before the KJV were NOT the word of God? You say this version “is the oldest copy of the word of God”. How can that be? The translators of the KJV used the Texus Receptus and other documents as a basis for their translation. What about the other Gospels and Books that were left out of the cannon? Men decided what was to be in the Bible.

While we are on Virgin birth, the correct interpretation is “Born of a Young Woman” (Issa 7:14). INFACT the KJV mistranslated the Hebrew. The study of the Bible via textual criticism by scholars has shown this interpretation to be in error. In Isaiah 7, the “young woman’ is living in the time of the prophecy.

How can all of the world be taxed? The taxation story is only in Luke’s Gospel. If so, you would think that the only other birth narrative would have mentioned this? As I have stated previously, the narratives of the Gospels of Luke and Matthew don’t match. They are two different versions of a birth event. Not to mention, why would you have to travel to be taxed? What was the hurry? It did not work this way in the 1st century. The taxation event has been historically proved to be by Cyrenius governor of Syria.

Jesus said he would return (21:23). This did not happen.

  • Timothy Wayne George on Luke 21
Re: Doubting Thomas, Do you believe that Jesus
Christ was born of the Virgin Mary? Do you believe that Caesar Augustus proclaimed all the world to be taxed? It is true the synoptic gospels are Matt, Mark, and Luke. The Bible is the verbal plenary inspired word of God. Written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. The King James was translated by 47 scholars of King James I in 1611, and is the oldest copy of the word of God. Paul said in I Cor.13 we see thru a glass darkly, but when he that is perfect shall come, we will know as we are known. All of the questions about the Bible will be answered when we are face to face with Jesus. Jesus came into this world to save man from his sin. He died on the cross, was buried, and the third day he rose from the grave. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, from which He will come again to judge the living, and the dead. Thank God that He gave you the Bible to study. Jesus said to search the scriptures, for these are they that testify of me. The Holy Spirit takes the word of God, and makes the scriptures real. If you have not received Jesus as your Savior, then you do not have the Holy Spirit abiding in you. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, and save you. He will, then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the veracity of the scriptures will be made known to you. So pray to the Lord: Ask, seek, and knock. The door will be opened for you. We are praying for you to make that decision. When Thomas put his hands into the nail prints of the Lord's side, he said my Lord, and my God. Jesus said blessed are you because you have seen. We are more blessed because we believe, and have not seen. When Jesus comes back, we will see Him as He is, and we shall be like Him.
  • Garyloyd on Revelation 3
Someone told me Revelation 3:10 was where they get to fly away. This verse is speaking of the "elect". They escape because they were sealed with the truth and didn't bow down to instead of Christ, or antichrist. This is not speaking of a church someone belongs to. It is an example of a great church to attend. But God`s set a side ones, "Church" will be here. All will changed in a twinkle of an eye. The Lord Jesus only comes at the LAST TRUMP! When antichrist gets here just pinch yourself, hurt, your flesh. If Gods Chosen children are going to be here to stand against satan as it is written how can the rapture people think they will fly? They say, why we don't have to read Gods Revelation we`ll all be gone. Yup! You will be gone if you don't read Gods words.
  • Faith Matsuoka on 1 Thessalonians 5:3
It seems to me, as I study, that "Peace and Safety" will come after a time of war. And I feel that it will be when the Anti-Christ comes on the scene and promises it. And then the Tribulation begins. What do you think?
  • Doubting Thomas on Luke 21
    RE: Timothy Wayne George

Matt: 24 and Luke: 17 are just a retelling of Mark: 13. That is why these Gospels are called the synoptic Gospels, because they are seen together. The majority of Luke and Matthew are from the Gospel of Mark. These Gospels are attributed to these disciples, but were NOT written by them.

Luke: 17 is BEFORE Luke: 21, so the description of "end times" events preceded the declaration by Jesus that “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled".

This proclamation did not take place. The "generation" did pass away.

How can this logically be explained?
  • Doubting Thomas on Genesis 1

If we are to believe this creation account, why do they differ? Don’t you and I deserve the truth?

Genesis 1 says that BOTH Man and Woman were created simultaneously.

Genesis 2 says that Woman was "created" by God from Adams rib because "but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him".

All I am asking is why? Why is this a contradiction? We have 2 different accounts. If one is true then the other must be false. Since one must be false, then we have a issue with any claim of inerrancy.
  • Doubting Thomas on Matthew 2
But why don't these two birth narratives (the only ones that we have) match? They are totally different. They cannot be logically reconciled. If you harmonize these two Gospels, then you have created your own gospel, which would be a heresy.

The author's of the Gospel of Luke and Matthew (hint, they were not disciples) birth narratives contradict.

Why is that? Maybe if the authors of the Gospels could keep their stories from contradicting there wouldn't be doubters.

  • Garyloyd on 1 Thessalonians 4
Chris you will be here. But this is where we will all be,earth. Jesus is headed here at the 7th trump but first there is a tribulation for 5 months. Satans evil spirit will be strong for 2 and a half months setting up things in a one world system, controlling things and setting things up. Then the Nations come together in a treaty of some kind, peace most likely, but one of the big shots, political, or a ruler of a country pulls out and it looks grim, the deadly wound is healed by this one that shows up and with his powers that he shows the whole world people think he is a god. All the churches, christian, muslim, and all the rest, a great falling away to chase this man who they think is there god, not our God. We wait for the true Lord Jesus, our true husband with our Gospel Armor on. That's why I worry about the fly away doctrine, people being told they don't have to read Revelation because " we will all be gone!" I heard that garbage growing up but then I learned the word and found out that in Daniel the vile one takes over in peace and flatteries and God shorten the time to a 5 month period in Revelation 9 for the elect sake. The deeds/program or what will occur in the seals will still be the same. So, why are they flying? This man of sin who is playing an acting role of trying to be Jesus and being a man of peace? Even thoe he is death and wants your soul to died. This man of death sits on the throne and wants Mother, Father,Sister,Brother, anyone who is one of the elect that will not bow down to him to be delivered up by their family member to him which is to say death who is the devil antichrist which translated is instead of Christ. It is written, and woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days. What is being said is them that married, jump in the sack with the wrong husband or whored and married the devil and when they see the true Christ and Husband come they hide their faces in shame and wish the rocks would falls on them because they don't want to face Our Lord Jesus because they went chasing or running with the devil, like a whore. To give suck means to help work the system of satans one world system. Don't buy or sell nothing. Have at least 3 months of food on hand when you see the season. I almost make it a habbit when summer draws near. The Locust come May through Sept and its a good chance that it will happen in that time frame. But just watch and pray fro guidance and study the word.
  • Doubting Thomas on Mark 16
The earliest copies of this Gospel end at 16:8. Everything else (16:9-20) was added at a later date possibly a scribe. This has been determined by textual criticism (see Bart Ehrman).

So how can it be inerrant if a scribe (or someone) added text to this Gospel?
  • Doubting Thomas on Matthew 2
Luke says that Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem (being great with child). Matthew says that they already lived in Bethlehem. Which story is correct?

The Shepherds appear in Luke and in Matthew it’s the Magi. Which is story correct?

In Matthew, Joseph takes his family to Egypt and in Luke they go to Jerusalem and then return to Galilee. Which story is correct?

Matthew and Luke are the only Gospels with the birth narrative. They do not agree. Why would that be?

Isn’t the Bible supposed to be inerrant?
  • Sanaa on Matthew 1
In Matthew 1 says 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

where in the new testment where any one call Jesus( Emmanue)l? it tell us in 23 this was to be his name. and after the angle of the lord came to josph and told him what the child name will be called why in 25 he went on to call him Jesus? (jesus is a greek name right?)
ps i'am not asking the meaning of Immanuel.

25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
  • The Zi - NO! - ist on Genesis 1:27
This passage (Genesis 1:27) clearly states that the Most-High created man, both MALE and FEMALE, both sexes created at the same time. This is uniform across all translations. But then, in the very next chapter it seems Man needs a helper\mate\buddy, this according to God. So God took a rib from man and made woman (womb-man). Now the obvious question would be why did God have to create woman from mans rib? It says in chapter 1 that God made boys and girls in his likeness already, RIGHT?!!

Now, I don't think a contradiction of this magnitude somehow just slipped by the countless revisions, clarifications, translations etc. It's clear that a distinction exists between the male and female versions of Man in chapter 1 and Man & Woman, Husband & Wife in chapter 2.

Also, the first appearance of the names "Adam" and "Eve" aren't consistent across translations, some chapter 1, others chapter two, but their usage is peculiar regardless of translation.

I think these discrepancies indicate a period of time, an age or procession maybe, or possibly an entire cycle of man, evolving from the primitive to the impressive, to the over-inflated ego having, vile pollution emitting, truth impaired, soul-less, thieving drones that God takes pleasure in obliterating. Y uh-know... that kind of cycle.

It's a theory that is consistent with Genesis already, just adding a couple more periods that Topper didn't feel like going into, so he just left a couple hints. I think Adam may refer to a genetic distinction or new breed of man, hence the reason he had no Eve at first. Another theory is that there are two different entities (different in depth of consciousness, abilities, potential etc.) both occupying the Earth, both assigned fleshy vehicles that are the body of man, constructed in the likeness of the gods or in the image of God if you prefer.

What do you think? Or do you....
