READING MATTHEW HENRY's commentary enlightened me to a deep lacking in my heart.I hate taking/sharing the blame for another`s fault.THROUGH "ADAM and EVE`S" sin in the garden, mankind was condemned to eternal hell.( i don `t like sharing this responsibility).MY revelation?....".all share this responsibility".JESUS redeemed me (us) with HIS BLOOD from that condemnation.ACCEPTING HIS sacrifice has more meaning and appreciation to JESUS for this liberty....THANK YOU JESUS.....

I Thessalonians 5:2-4. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

We have a cat that was found on our land who recently had five kittens. We have watched as the mother kitty has met the kittens needs. After about two weeks, she moved them from where she gave birth. Some time later, she moved them to another spot. Eventually, they began to explore and move into greater enlargements.

The other night, when the kittens were eight weeks old, they went off the high porch which they had never went off of before - it was night.

They went down the steps and on to the area below, mother kitty was with them. This is the first time I had noticed them go down to the ground. I thought it was a milestone for them and felt a sense of enjoyment at their new milestone. I sat on top of the porch and watched them. One little, black kitty was at the edge of the landing onto the grass. It was curiously abounding. Another black kitty was on the other side of the porch exploring. I got a flashlight to see where all the kittens were. When I looked by the light into the darkness, I saw a pair of eyes at the edge of the yard; they were low to the ground. When I looked to the left, I noticed a white and colored cat had come around the corner where the other black kitten was exploring. The kitty had hunched up and was hissing. I did not think the Momma kitty had seen this cat and what was happening since she was on the other side of the porch with the other black kitty. I called the Momma kitty, and when I did, the other cat turned and went out of sight. I went inside to tell my sons what was happening. As I was about to tell my son about what had just happened, he asked me had I heard that noise. I said, "What noise?" I went back outside and when the kitties were all inside - one was missing, blue eyes. I looked everywhere inside and realized she was not inside. We took flashlights and looked outside - she was no where to be found.

How quickly death snatched away a life. The first night off the porch, at the beginning of their exhilaration, death was lying in wait.

I thought of the thief in the night; how the thief lay in darkness waiting to kill in the night. I thought of Jesus saying He would come as a thief in the night. I think of that verse in a more positive, personal way now. When Satan thinks he has his system with all enclosed with no way of escape, like a thief in the night, Jesus will snatch us away. In this case, snatching us out of Satan's trap of death into abundant life with Jesus; whereas, with the kitty, the kitty was snatched from life unto death.

I called the kitty that was snatched away, blue eyes. She had blue eyes. All kittens are born blind and deaf. They all are born with blue eyes that change color as they mature. We are much like the kitties in this respect. We are all born blind and deaf in regards to us all being born with a sin nature. In respect to the color of the kittens eyes being blue until they reach a certain milestone in development, I associate blue eyes with innocence and vulnerability. Satan may look upon the Lord's people as having blue eyes and desire to overtake them into death; but, I thank God that we are not destined unto death, but, the Lord, as a thief in the night, will deliver us from the jaws of death.

To hell is where the chicken flyers go with the antichrist. Whhat I can't figure out is why are you guys going to fly. You said you know of the 70 weeks. Just go down to church at that time when he takes over all the churches and they will be telling you they will fly you out because that's satans lie and you will be happy to die with him in his gathering place of take off. Oh! In your chicken suit you`ll need a hard hat. God makes it a point to drop 180 hail balls of ice on your take off to hell. Have a nice trip. The reason the ground was cursed was because Adam was taken from the it and the earth was just as much apart of him as Eve was.that's why when we as mankind destroy the earth we destroy ourselves with it. but even more so because he was given dominion over all things because God set him over the works of his hand see (Hebrews2:6..8) Satan though a fallen cherub' but none the less a spirit, it was not possible for him to have done that; being not flesh and blood see(Matthew22:29)from this point in the scripture a spiritual principal is being established that you will be see throughout the rest of the bible. I have an issue with woman showing their breast, especially in the church. It is very disrespectable to the name of Jesus, the house of God and the saints who died for this gospel. Verse 9 clearly states to dress in modest apparel. After God has saved you, you change, old things are passed away and all things become new, you are also renewed in your mind. Cleavage is a sex thing that should be left for the bedroom, why would a woman want people looking down at her breast? Are they part of a fashion statement now? Perhaps they are the new jewelry? We wonder why we are often disrespected, raped, called ungodly names. We have done this to ourselves. A modest woman is one who watches her clothes, shamefaced means modest again, sobriety means to be aware. Ladies please cover your breast. I always hear God saying go back to the old way. The old way included the way we use to dress.

  • Susan Dalton on Judges 5
Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty. Judges 5:23

Here we see a curse upon the inhabitants of Meroz, and for what? They came not to the help of the LORD against the mighty. They came not. They did not get involved. They did not take the side of the LORD to battle against the mighty.

Why do some not want to go to battle for the LORD? Jesus spoke of a certain man who made a great supper, and bade many...but, they all began with with consent to make excuse: one bought a piece of land that he needed to go see, another had bought five yoke of oxen and he was going to prove them, and another had married a wife and therefore could not come. Each one had an interest that they put before the Lord.

Some people will not come out to the Lord's battle against the mighty because they love the praise of men more than the praise of God. They prefer to stand with men and with the acceptable gospel than to risk persecution for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Still others will watch and say it's not my battle. They do not want to get involved because it will cost them something, something they do not want to give up; a false peace, a false unity, a false reputation.

To come to the help of the Lord, to come to the help of the Lord against the mighty, one must be willing to forsake all. One must be willing to count the cost, deny oneself, and take up one's cross daily and follow the Lord. This needs to be done individually and collectively as the body of Christ.

In Judges 5, the LORD commanded Barak to take ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the the children of Zebulun to go to battle against Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, the king of Canaan who had a host of men and nine hundred chariots of iron.

The LORD commanded Barak to take of the tribes of Naphtali and of Zebulun to go to battle. Later, we see that some tribes did not take part in this victory. Why?

Barak was sent on foot into the valley; then we see "For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart. Why abodest among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart."

Could this be the result of a divided heart? Barak was sent on foot into the valley to meet with the mighty - he was sent on foot into the valley - here one must have faith and obedience. When you are sent on foot into the valley to do battle against the mighty who are mightier than you, a divided heart can stop you from entering that valley on foot. Was Reuben divided? Had they things that divided their hearts? Was their heart with their sheep? Was the heart of Dan with his ships? Was the heart of Asher with his business on the sea shore? Did Gilead stay on the other side Jordan because their hearts were not with the cause of the LORD. Had things and distance divided their hearts against the LORD and when the time came to enter into the valley on foot, their hearts, having divisions, were against the LORD? They either feared, or either felt it was not their battle, or they had other interests that manifested their hearts had divided against the LORD.

Barak was sent on foot into the valley. Jesus was sent on foot into the valley of death. To overcome all the foes of darkness, He had to be in complete obedience and subjection to the Father. Jesus came out victorious over all darkness.

Divisions of heart can make the head and heart have great thought: should I go, what will I lose, is it my battle, do I take part in the victory? Sometimes the heart can rationalize not entering on foot into the valley. A divided heart is unstable in all its ways. Jesus said a man cannot love God and mammom. He will either hold to the one, or he will let go of the other; but, he cannot hold both. The allusion is he thinks he can; but, when it is time to enter on foot into the valley, he will not go.

Nothing can be put above the Lord's will for the one who is sent on foot into the valley - he must be willing to go, even in the face of death with full assurance and complete trust in the Lord who sent him. He must love the Lord his God with all of his heart; a divided heart will fail.

Meroz, and her inhabitants, were cursed because they came not out to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

Zebulon and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

A divided heart produces failure. We must love the Lord our God with all of our heart. When we are sent on foot into the valley of death, we must go with a single heart, and we will always be victorious.

  • Samuel Bonaya Buya on 1 Timothy 2
We are not saying women are not doing a good job or not gifted but there is the commandment of God to be followed. Paul clearly says in 1Corinthians 14:37 if any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. Now he was speaking the word to people with various gifts of the Holy spirit. Jesus says in Mathew 7:21-22: not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out devils? And in thy name many wonderful works? And I will profess unto them, I never knew you depart from, ye that work iniquity. Yes they can do mighty works in His name but if is not at his command it is all in vain. His will is His command. In 2John 1:9 it says: Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath no God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the father and the son. The doctrine of Christ did not place women preachers in the church. Where did these women preachers originate from? In Mathew 16:6b- take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. In Mathew 16:12 the disciples understood he was not speaking of leaven of bread but leaven of doctrine of Pharisees? What was wrong with the doctrine of Pharisees? Here it is: Mathew 15:9 - But in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. In Mathew 15:3 they transgressed the commandment of God by their traditions, of their elders. The Apostles doctrine (Acts 2:42) was the doctrine of Christ. Jesus says in John 17:16-17 - my doctrine is not mine but his that sent me. If any man do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. The doctrine of Christ did not place women preachers, but doctrines of pharisees and saducees. In Mathew 23:29- 37 He called them serpents, brood of vipers. Adressing the serpents Jesus said you killed the righteous, shed their blood, from the blood of righteous able. These scripture clearly say Cain was a serpent. The original serpent gave Eve leaven of false doctrine and slew her by it, she became a transgressor. John the Baptist calls these serpents brood of vipers. In Mathew 23:15 they are called children of hell. The serpent convinced Eve to transgress the clear cut command of God by giving it a false interpretation. He deceives the fallen church the same way today. We are here looking at the scripture comparing spiritual things with spiritual, scripture with scripture and by the Holy Ghost, for scripture interprets scripture and was given by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost for correction and reproof. Jesus warns us in Mathew 7:13- enter ye in the straight gate: for wide is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life. The doctrine of the Apostolic Fathers that begat us by the gospel is of the Holy Ghost and cannot be added to or subtracted from. In I Corinthianthians 4:15 Paul says, though ye have ten thound instructors in Christ, ye have not many fathers: for in Christ I have begotten you throught the gospel. In 1timothy 2, it speaks of women to adorn themselves in modest apparel. It is unbecoming for Christian women to dress like the world, to walk naked and to put garments that pertain to men. Deutronomy 22:5 says the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a womans garment: for ALL THAT DO SO ARE AN ABOMINATION UNTO THE LORD THY GOD. That settles it.

  • Samuel Bonaya Buya on Acts 2
In Luke 24:45-49 Jesus reminded his disciples of what is written of him concerning his suffering, death and ressurection; that repentance and remission of sins would be preached in his name beginning from Jerusalem. They were to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Ghost to come upon them in order to witness the word (Acts 1:7-8). Before his crucifiction Jesus had told his disciples that it was not them that would speak but the Holy Ghost (Mark 13:11). They were to preach the the Gospel with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven (1 Peter 1:12). On the day of pentecost they heard the infallible Holy Ghost speak through the mouth of Peter (Acts 2:33). In Acts 10:44 it says to him give all prophets witness that through his name whosover believers shall receive remission of sins. On this day of pentecost, after death burial, ressurection and ascension of Jesus, the Holy Ghost witnessed, beginning from Jerusalem, commanding the people to repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins and they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). God is His own interprater, interpreting the Name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost; for he says in Zechariah 14:9 : And the Lord shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord and his name one. Thomas called him My Lord and my God (John 20:28). On this day of Pentecost the Holy Ghost bore witness of His Holy child whom He annointed( Mathew 1:18, Acts 4: 27). Who can add or subtract from what God had began? What He began in the day of pentectost and Jerusalem restores in the Last days: Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ for remission of Sin. The Holy Ghost Church will stay with the command of the Holy Ghost for they know the Apostles were sent the Holy Ghost (13:4) and spake these words at His command.
  • Maureen on Genesis 1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Period! The second verse says the earth was without form and void. God did not create the earth that way. The manuscripts actually say the earth became formless and void-why? Because of the revolt of Satan. The Father made a beautiful and perfect earth and Satan, along with one third of the angels revolted against our Father and the earth was decimated. Our Father renewed, refreshed or recreated the earth again in 6 days; remember that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years with man. Whether or not the 6 days were periods of 24 hours, as we know it, or 6 millennium doesn't matter. The Father made man, Adam, which consisted of all races, on the sixth day. He created a specific man, eth ha Adam, on the eighth day and placed him in the garden. This specific man was to till the ground. Out of him, came Eve from the "rib"or curve, which was actually the DNA of Adam.
  • Jacque on Isaiah 9
That's right Jeff! Revelation 1:8 says - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the *Almighty*. Jesus spake this.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. -v,14- And *the Word was made flesh*, and dwelt among us*, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Whoever you are ~ 123 ~ let me give you some knowledge. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him *SHOULD* not perish, but have everlasting life.

It does NOT say that you SHALL be saved! I bought an ozarka water the other day and it said on the back of it, " this item SHOULD not be sold individually." well i bought it by its self. So, maybe it wasn't meant to be sold individually but it was. Same goes with the scripture. Yeah if you believe that Jesus is god and you believe this,

Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, -6- One God and Father of all,

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we MUST be saved.

If you think there is three gods you are sorely mistaken. There's not two nor five. Only ONE !

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Isaiah 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
  • VLHowell on Genesis 4
    To Anonymous (5/30/12):

First let me point out one particular fallacy that you mentioned in your comment.

"there is no mention of Eve ever giving birth to daughters (no girls are ever recorded)"

If you had only read the very next chapter of Genesis, you would know, "...the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters." (Gen. 5:4)

It obviously shows here that Adam (and by reason, Eve) had more children, among whom were daughters. If you would like to make up contradictions in the Bible, at least put forth some effort to try to make it sound plausible. Josephus wrote that Hebrew tradition puts Adam and Eve's children between 50 and 60 (if i'm not mistaken). While this number can't be taken as infallible since Josephus' writings were not inspired, he was known as quite a scholarly and generally accurate historian.

To address the question of "where did Cain find a wife?" That's an easy one. It was his sister. The Bible does not give the chronological information as to how old Cain and Able were when the murder occured, nor does it tell how many children Adam and Eve had between Able and Seth. Considering the fact that the Bible speaks of Cain and Able as functioning adults, there is ample time for Adam and Eve to give birth to many girls who would have become Cain's wife.

The main point being, there are no contradictory or illogical statements made in Genesis 4 (or the rest of the Bible for that matter).

  • Hamton on Genesis 6:2

Butch is right and he delineated his reasoning directly from unmolested scripture. You and another poster stated how your reasoning is short-sighted in each of your own statements. You said, "The LORD HIMSELF stated [...are like the angels in Heaven who neither marry...]. Exactly-in Heaven. Why is Cain not mentioned in Adam's lineage? Also, if you notice, Cain's sons became the fathers of all worldly things-metal working, music, etc. Where did they get the knowledge to do so if Cain was hidden from God? Further, the same "Sons of God" are spoken of in the old and new testament in reference to fallen angels.

Nowhere in the Bible does it ever say that all angels are in heaven or that they cannot conform to earthly bodies (see Sodom and Gomorrah where they tried to rape the angels).

In Isaiah 2:10-22 we read of the day of the Lord of hosts in which the Lord Will arise to shake terribly the earth. In chapter 24:5-6 Isaiah of says (of this day) the earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned and a few are left. Jeremiah says: a noise shall come even to the ends of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh: he will give them that are wicked to the sword (Jeremiah 25:27-38 ). The nations shall drink the cup of the wrath of the almighty God. God had promised Abraham a blessing to all the nations through his seed, that is Christ. He was given for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles. Before the desolation of Jerusalem Paul had these words to say to the Gentiles: and if some of the branches broken off and thou being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them partakers of the root and the fatness of the olive tree: boast not against the branches, but if thou boast, thou bearest not the root but the root thee. Thou wilt say the branches were broken that I may be grafted in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standeth by faith. Be not highminded but fear: for if God spared not the natural branches take heed lest he spare not thee.--- for if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted in their own olive tree ( Romans 11:17-26)? The beginning of the gospel was foreran by Malachi 3 messenger ( Mark 1: 1- 3); Jesus pointed in Mathew 11: 10: for this is he, of Whom it is written, Behold I will send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare the way before me. He was the forerunner of the first coming and he went before him in the the Spirit and power of Elijah, and many of the children of Israel he turned to the Lord their God ( Luke1:17) .He, Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith. He promised in Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he declared to his servants the prophets. We read in the scripture, concerning the second coming: and at midnight there was a cry made, behold the bridegroom cometh (25:5) there is the messenger that is to forerun the second coming, the supper time messenger( Luke 14:17,Revelation 19:9). The forerunner of the second coming will have the spirit of Elijah just as the first forerunner. He will have a world wide ministry because the curse of Isaiah 24:6 will follow after the days of his ministry. The Gentiles (church) will be Judged just as Jerusalem was destroyed by General Titus. The Malachi 3 messenger with the spirit of Elijah ministered the other side of the the atonement before death burial and ressurection. The messenger of Malachi 4 with the spirit of Elijah minister this side of the atonement before the rapture of the church
