  • Calvin on Luke 9
Vs. 23 To take up your cross daily, is to walk as Jesus walked, to talk as Jesus talked, to love as Jesus loved, to have comp***ion s Jesus have comp***ion, to forgive as Jesus forgives, to suffer long as Jesus long for us, to be forbearing to your neighbors as Jesus is forbearing to you, you get the picture? It also means that we are to believe and RECIEVE what Jesus did on the CROSS FOR US.Jesus message in ch 9 is liken unto other messages that you will find in all the PARABLES in Matt., Mark, and LUKE, also ch 5 of Matt. For example; we are commanded to love those who hate us, bless those who curse us, pray for those who use us and percecute us. This command goes against the grain doesn't it? you need the HOLY SPIRIT DWELLING IN YOU IN ORDER TO DO THIS, THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD. The Bible tells us that if we don't have the spirit of God dwelling in you, you are none of His.
  • Jacquiline on Psalms 1

  • Toni on Daniel 4
The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? Whenever man receives power and honor and riches, he forgets God is the one who has allowed him to have these things. People forget who is their health and strength. Instead of Nebuchadnezzar giving God the praise and glory for all that he had, he boasted in himself. Is this not what we do today? Instead of giving God all the praise and honor, we try to say what we've done. Without God,we can do nothing. Nebuchadnezzar quickly learned that God is all and in all. He formed us from the dust of the earth. Take up dust from the earth into your hands and **** on it - it disappears like it never existed. That is what man is - nothing. Yet, people want to boast in what they have and what all they have accomplished. But just as Nebuchadnezzar learned in a lowly and degrading way, God will bring down the lofty look of men. But what I did like about Nebuchadnezzar is once God humbled him, he then gave God all the glory and honor.

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

what is the 5 cities --the city of destruction?
  • Ciscokid on John 3
It's amazing there so many different "beliefs" systems in the Christian community, especially when Jesus taught only one "specific" gospel to his disciples. Jesus then told his disciples to go and teach THAT SPECIFIC GOSPEL to the world. In one corner we have people who seek salvation by "only believing" on or in Jesus Christ. In the other corner we have those are accused of being "legalistic" in their approach to obtain salvation. Question- where do we find the VERY FIRST instructions as to obtaining salvation??
Was in it St John, or Romans, maybe Ephesians? No, it was in Acts. In Acts , Peter gave specific instructions how to obtain salvation. Christians today would probably call Peter a "legalist" because he told the men to "do" a "work". Peter told them to repent, and BE BAPTIZED for the remission of their sins. IF baptism is actually a work of man, then Peter had no right to instruct those men to be baptized. Question--was Peter actually a "legalist"? Is baptism a "self righteous work" of man, or is it REALLY for the REMMISION of sins??. Should Peter instructed those men to ONLY BELIEVE on Jesus? Naturally everyone has their "own belief system". BUT does their belief system acre with the Bible.??

  • RaptureMan on Revelation 3
Chapter 3 of Revelation is the last time you hear about the church ( Body of Christ ) mentioned. It says that the Church of Philadelphia will be kept from the hour of temptation that shall come upon the whole earth. Is that temptation the worship and mark of the antichrist? If it is then That would lead me to believe that the Rapture of the Church will take place prior to the Great tribulation, and the wrath of God being poured out on the earth.

  • Evans Achieng on Judges 19
Sad...But where was God in the midist of all these? He was just watching. His beloved people doing the strangest of things. the sins for which nations were being driven from before them. Homo***suality, harlotry....
I think it also points to future judgement of the adulterous Nation-israel.

I always thouht the KJV is the best versionof all the Bible version. But I thought about making a revised version of it avoiding old phrases and usages like Ye,Thine,Thou,Whence,Shalt, hath, hast, doest doeth, wilt etc

  • Bongz on Deuteronomy 22
it is somehow interesting to see how much of a debate the issue of clothing is. i however have this question. why are we not seeing woman in swimming costumes and man wearing short pants and showing of their packs or big bellies in church?
  • Caspar on Matthew 9
v.13 watch and learn... that we should be like the LORD-"forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors..." too many times (and me too) that we want our enemies to fall in a hole, and seemingly that would be our sacrifice from that person.
That we should be "conformed to the image of Christ" and how can we do this? I answer, by the new commandment to " love one another "
Herein is the crux of the whole matter-"...o man, what is good: and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with GOD?
  • Jacqueline on Proverbs 31:2
was king solomon's mother Bathsheba a nazarite woman?
  • Paul V. on Matthew 2:23
The Bible is about 30% prophecy: highly detailed events penned in the past about future events, and most has already been fulfilled, to the letter. So Mike's comment above re: "I think it is all made up" seems flippant in the extreme, and is not a rational response, given the all we know. Isaiah 53 and Nathanael's comment in John 1:46 support the statement: the Messiah was despised and rejected, and Nazareth was synonymous with that which was despised. Mike's comment on his problem with the date of Nazareth's existence is based on what? Not scripture; must be the shifting sand of man's wisdom. When man's wisdom and the Bible disagree, the Bible has always been proven correct - just recall the debate about the existence of the Hittites.
  • One on 2 Timothy 1
Hallelujah, all praise be to God, for he is far above greatness. Proverbs 28:1 says; "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." And Hebrews 4:16 says; "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." ...... So we see here saints, that Faith is the first step towards God; For FAITH breeds confidants; which cast out fear, FAITH, creates the ability to: telepathically break the laws of psychics; the spirit that God has granted us;(those that believe) is the spirit of God, and God can do anything, so why should he fear? We fear because we have not yet become one with God, but we must saints; So that we can Love with true Love, and maintain peace, and sanity, in our lives, the way God intented it. Amen
