    Joshua 5:13-14.

When a believer asks God, "Are you for or against us?" he asks the wrong question. There should be no questioning of the Lord but an immediate declaration on the part of every believer: "I am for you, Lord, whether I enjoy what you are doing with me or not."

    Joshua 5

13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?

    ....continued

An omer is about 9 1/2 cups (2.3 liters). As I read these instructions, I think about the Lord's Prayer Jesus gave us ( Matt. 6:9-13).

In this prayer we ask God for our daily bread. And John 6:32-51, where He speaks of being the Bread of Life that came down from heaven. This chapter speaks how the Israelites ate manna in the desert and still died, but not so for those who eat the Bread of Life, Jesus.

Anyone who did not obey the instructions concerning manna had an unpleasant experience but God chose not to punish them severely. He was merciful to the disobedient and fickle Israelites. The manna was unique, one of a kind food, which does not exist in the natural world. YHWH fed the Israelites with manna and, I thin, quail, throughout the 40 years of wandering. But even so, Jesus said, man does not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. It was better for the Israelites to believe God and His Word than to go with human reason and save more manna than can be eaten in a day. The fact that the manna kept to the next day bred worms and was inedible yet this was not so for the manna gathered the day before to be kept over night for the Sabbath demonstrates this Scripture well. ( Matt. 4:4)

Relying on God day to day is the way we are to live our life. Not consumed with "always stocking up just in case" or being so frugal that one cannot enjoy the blessings of God that one receives by trusting Him. We are to be wise and certainly saving or putting up food is a good thing, but not to a point of compulsion to where one trusts in his one ability to provide today and also for the future. This daily provision also reminds us that we should be satisfied that God provides what is necessary for life, not riches, gold, silver, mansions, largess of any kind. We should be content with what God provides and seek the riches and treasure we have in .

This chapter seems to introduce the Sabbath command. Is this the first time?
  • GiGi on Exodus 16 - 2 years ago
This is another amazing chapter in which the glory of the LORD appears in the cloud and speaks to the Moses, God provides daily food for the Israelites, even after they murmur against Moses and complain; and Moses instructs the Israelites about gathering the manna throughout the week.

The chapter begins with the Israelites leaving verdant Elim, with the 12 wells (one for each tribe to have plenty of water) and 70 trees, providing shade and respite from the harsh wilderness heat. (Remember that originally 70 Israelites went to Egypt during the famine) They traveled into the wilderness of Sin (Sin was the name of the Mesopotamian moon god) They had been traveling for 1 1/2 months. The Israelites hungered though they had lots of livestock; but perhaps, no grain left to make bread. They began to murmur and complain to Moses, saying that they had it much better in Egypt in bondage than here in freedom with YHWH. They even said that it would have been better if they had died in Egypt than to be taken out into this wilderness and be killed by YHWH. What an affront to the true God who had already delivered them with multiple miracles. But just like when they murmured about not having water to drink, God provided sweet water at Marah and plentiful water at Elim.

YHWH speaks to Moses about the manna from heaven and the quail overrunning the camp. Moses instructs Aaron to speak to the whole group. And as promised in vs. 7 the glory of YHWH appears in the cloud and He speaks to Moses (vs. 10). How was this appearance different from simply the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night? When Moses saw the burning bush the text said that the Angel of the LORD was within the fire. So, perhaps this same Angel of the LORD appeared in the cloud since this theophany spoke audibly to Moses. The LORD gives more instructions to Moses for the people concerning the Manna. These instructions are then given to the whole congregation.

Song of Solomon 1:6. Have you ever experienced rejection by other Christians because of your sin? Have you ever experienced rejection by other Christians because of your appearance or reputation? The Lord's dove in this book, the Shulamite, pressed on through such rejection to find the one she loved, the Chiefest among ten thousand.

6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

    Song 5

6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

7 The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.

8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.

    Gog,

I believe to be an evil angel of Satin's horde

    Is told by God through the mouth of Ezekiel;

Chaper 38: "Son of man, set thy face against Gog the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal and prophesy against him. And say, thus saith the Lord God; behold I am against thee O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.."

.chief prince? Does that not sound like Scripture using the same term for an angelic creature? Michael, prince of Persia. I believe Satan has more than one prince, quite possibly hundreds.

"And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army..all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya...Gomer and all his bands; the house f Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many peoples with thee."

"After many days thou shall be visited: in the later years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel which have been always waste: but is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them."

"Thou shall ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou and all thy bands and many people with thee." This word, band, bands has the meaning of "wings of an army". What does that say to you? Like a 'cloud' to cover the land. Aircaft?

If we break this down to what we might think is a thought and word to how we talk today, God is putting thought and deed into the mind of the great leader of a nation straight north of Israel. Who is directly north of Israel? First of the larger, Turkey, then north of the Black Sea is Ukraine, further northward is Russia. Consider this fact, there are over 25 million Muslims in Russia. The largest Muslim population in Europe reside in Russia according to Wikipedia. How many in the Russian military? More than

If we are to understand time, we must have time to think, see, hear. What is our time constraint? What does it do to us? We can also read on time. For strangers in that matter. Can what Iiam referring to be found in the Bible. The prophet Daniel has a lot about the end times. The revelation. Matthew 24 chapter and mm.

Many things have been fulfilled by what is written in Revelation. But it is not given to everyone and understand, then the rest can hear? Now many people probably think that this is still a long way to go!

No, you're wrong. The animal's mark is already in use in many countries, and several authorities are beginning to see that it will be a flexible case. To introduce a chip that everyone can have for identification, and to see what each one has of funds. It is clear that we must not take this mark. For then we belong to the beast that John once saw on Patmos. The believers in the world will not take possession of this mark.

Then the time of trouble is a reality, friends. That is, we Christians come to and lack all things. Who can we trust then? Absolutely true to the Lord Jesus Christ He who we have believed in for 2022 years!

When that time comes, we will not be able to buy petrol, diesel or electricity for the new fancy cars we have. We can no longer buy food, medicine or water for those who live in cities. It may be a bank idea can last a long time but everything else is in vain and get hold of. That time shall not be longer than 3.1 / 2 years. So it will not be long. But many of the Christians will then be long gone from this world. When there is no longer a righteous one left on this created earth. Who prays for all people. Will Jesus Come Back. Can you stand up for Him? Can you become a martyr for Jesus Christ? Or do you just want to lull yourself into a theme that scratches your back well. And you can go on and on about your wealth? to be continued

Now the time is back when every man and woman must kneel and pray to God. For He does not change! Jesus does not become modern nor does he wear nail polish. He needs no curtains to hide behind. For He knows about everything and in the end He must come and put everything in order. He is waiting for this He too, just like us. Is it Gog and Magog coming now? Is it not pathetic. Now that we have finally gained such prosperity that we say that poverty has been abolished in Norway.

Well many people know that is not true. But now with a crisis knocking on the door. Will more take that position. It will now be more difficult to get to work. More expensive for commuters and so on. The sick may not get their medication.

Norway has been on its knees before. Many times when war threatens. We gather and are in agreement with what threatens.

But are we really there now that there has been a sharp divide between rich and poor. Are you one of those who believe that God only listens to kings and queens? Yes He listens to them too. But most of all, he listens to those who come to Him in honesty and truth. He does not care about your clothes or your wealth, gold or silver. Now is the time to trust God through everything. Remember we're all going through fire, are you standing?

Now this is similar to a doomsday sermon. No, it is not. But should this be the last war, Jesus will come soon. That may be the truth of reality.

In recent years, we have seen borders closed. Why close borders due to a contagious deadly cold. It seems a little over its dimensions. At the same time, the authorities take care and store data. Who buys, who owns what, who needs and so on. We have to ask ourselves here.

The end time is now here?

First day of Ukraine crisis. Shame on NRK (norwegian television) old clips from Leif Juster and Dizzi Tunes! We should laugh and have fun while people suffer near us. This is not about China or Myanmar. But a neighboring country to Finland. There are tanks on our borders, and the tasteless element can tell of a spiritual apostasy. Bigger than from the beginning of time!

Now there are no nice curtains hanging in many broken windows, no counting nail polish on the fingers of the people who are fighting for their lives over there. Again, one human being has created a turmoil that threatens us all. This face that is shown on TV is just an unparalleled fantasy world. It will put us all in danger. Few human eyes really see what this is. And has little opinion about what might happen in the future. Nor can i know the continuation. Just look at the time.

From east Norway to Ukraine Kyiv it takes about 1 day and three hours and the drive is 2400 km according to Google map. From Halden to Hammerfest we drive in 1 day and 1 hour it is 2001 km according to the same map. So it's not far away. This is well calculated in driving hours, but still there is nothing to laugh about. Rather cry.

In fact, we have been prepared for a long time in view of the reductions in the corona era. Closed borders, among other things. So what's next? Lack of petrol, diesel and electricity so clear. Prices increased before the war in Ukraine. Food shortages are next. Water supplies can be sought after even in Norway. Have we appreciated all this, or have most people taken all things for granted. Then it is no wonder that people are out of place elsewhere in the world who are in turmoil now. They have also thought so. to be continued

I wonder what it means for the water to be bitter or sweet? Here, Moses establishes some sort of statue and an ordinance, telling the people that they will not get diseases that the Egyptians had (either referring to the plagues, or disease that normally afflicted the land of Egypt) but only if they heed the voice and listen to commandments of the LORD and keep the statutes. It does not say what the statute and ordinance was that Moses introduced at that time. It is apparent that he is also talking of the giving of the Law that will come later. He must have had knowledge that the Law would be given later, even at this time. Moses calls the LORD: The LORD who heals.

Next, they travel to Elim, a bountiful oasis with 12 wells and 70 trees. Here the LORD had led them to a place to pasture and water their flocks and abide safely for a while with an abundance of water. Where before, they had found no water and then the bitter water of Marah (with the miraculous change), this place has natural provision of water, shade, and space for the large group to rest, sleep, and have respite. It does not say how long they stayed at Elim. But they were not in danger of the Egyptians anymore and it appeared from any other group. This shows how merciful and benevolent God is, providing what is most needed for the people even though they grumbled and lost faith soon after the Red Sea deliverance.

And so the Israelites are off on this wilderness journey that should only take a short number of weeks. But they still had much to learn about themselves, about Moses, and mostly about I AM WHO AM before getting to the promised land. It was important to value the LORD more than the land He promised them. The Israelites needed to learn this and so do we.

    Hi Guy,

You selected a difficult passage to try and understand. I often look to the website Enduringword for answers. Hope this helps you.

And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" So He said to them, "Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together."

    a. Where, Lord? The disciples wanted to know more about this revelation of Jesus, presumably both where the deliverance the judgment might take place. As they came nearer to Jerusalem, perhaps they wondered if these events would take place soon, as they arrived at the City of Zion.

    b. Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together: This is a difficult statement. It was probably a figure of speech with the idea, "when judgment is ripe, it will surely come."

    i. "That simply meant that a thing would happen when the necessary conditions were fulfilled." (Barclay) "Where that which is ripe for judgment is present, there also will the judgment take place." (Geldenhuys)

ii. Some wonder if the conditions are ready in the present day for this revelation of Jesus, both in delivering His people and judgment upon a world that rejects Him. We may say this with some confidence: The Bible describes certain political, economic, spiritual, social, and military characteristics regarding what the world will be like before His return. It is fair to say that the conditions exist today, and the stage is set.

    Ezekiel 18:2

    Ezekiel 18:2

What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

Some people think they are unfairly suffering evil or going to hell because of Adam's sin, but that is not true. God rebuked that idea in Ezekiel 18. Nobody goes to hell for Adam's sin but sinners who go to hell go there for their own sin of rejecting Jesus in favor of sin.

18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Romans 10:9. What must a sinner do to be saved?

Say 5 Hail Marys? Sell everything and give to the poor? Do more good deeds than bad deeds? Get baptized? Speak in tongues? Join the church? Do something else? None of those things are listed in this verse.

    Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
