    Hi Momsage,

No problem, I understand that people who have been in a spiritual situation where they have been grossly misled or abused or made to feel guilty if one does not follow their teachings strictly and exclusively can have a very adverse reaction to that situation and can be reactive to things that can trigger strong emotions. It seems that this discussion has done so with you. I am sorry for that. I did not begin this discussion, just responding to you and Hadassah, as many do on this site.

As to the sect you were once associated with that taught against getting medical treatment, viewing it as a lack of faith or some other attitude they found thought God would not approve, I am glad you left that situation. Such teachings and pressures to conform are oftentimes a mark of cultish and teaching. So, My prayer is that you are now in a good church situation that feeds you well from Scripture and promotes a deeper walk with God by His Spirit in you. We can discuss what ever you wish. I usually do not begin threads or discussions but often join in. I am happy to know you and look forward to many discussions. I don't think we need to redress the current one on the errors of Catholicism. I do think we agree that there are some very disturbingly false teachings and practices promoted by this sect. And that is a good place to end on this topic.

    PSALMS 1: 1-2

    1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

    2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

What a wonder example for us. God Bless :)

    Hi Momsage.

The following verse " Psalms 1:1-6 speaks volumes!

There's a lot of doctrine built around this.

Vs 3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, THAT BRINGETH FORTH HIS FRUIT IN HIS SEASON; HIS LEAF ALSO SHALL NOT WITHER; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

    (HIS LEAF SHALL NOT WITHER!

    Forever being fruitful!)

Jeremiah 17:7-8 is another one that picks up on this.

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, NEITHER SHALL CEASE FROM YIELDING FRUIT.

Jesus uses this idiom in John 7:37-39 "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

    Also see John 4:10.

THANK GOD FOR HIS HOLYSPIRIT THAT SEALS AND GUIDES US!

    Psalms 1:1-6.

THE UNGODLY ARE NOT SO: but are like the CHAFF which the wind driveth away.

THEREFORE THE UNGODLY SHALL NOT STAND IN THE JUDGMENT,

(They will have their own Judgment)

NOR SINNERS IN THE CONGREGATION OF THE RIGHTEOUS.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

(THE CHAFF IS NOT BINDING TO THE TREE AND HAS NO ROOTS AND NO FRUIT.)

More on the chaff. Matthew 3:11-12

    Praise the Lord!

This is why Psalms 1:1 says "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

    God bless.

" a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump " , yes ! No truer words ! Amen to you .
  • Ronald Whittemore - In Reply - 3 months ago
    Hi Jema,

Amen, a little here, a little there, people become numb and blind to what is happening not able to discern what is evil, Isaiah 5:20. The leaven in the dough is almost ready to bake.

God bless and hold on to Him, tough roads make for tough feet that can carry you to the end of the road.

    Dear Hadassah,

I refer you to the reply I gave to Momsage concerning my knowledge of the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.

I do know of the doctrines you listed and others that you have not that I think to be erroneous.

So, Hadassah, I am not as ignorant as you seem to imply. I am very well informed about the Catholic Church and other sects as I have spent much time studying this topic over the past 50 years.

Just an aside, when I was very young (9 or so) I began to read the Bible for myself. No one else encouraged me to do so at that age, though I was brought up in a traditional church that read scripture every Sunday service. Soon after that, when I was in 5th grade I determined that I only wanted to read what was true, so I stopped reading fiction books and instead read the Bible, because I knew it was true and I began to read biographies and science books, I read the dictionary, encyclopedias, history books. I was very hungry to know the truth about God, my world, and many other subjects. I was a devourer of such literature. This hunger has continued all my life.

But this knowledge does not set me apart from any other believer. We are all on the same journey towards God to come to know Him in Spirit and in truth. As I said to Momsage, in this life we know dimly or darkly) as Paul put it, but in the life to come we will know fully. We all have need of having our doctrine corrected and deepened.

Momsage great post! I don't get on here very much anymore but it seems that you fit right in on this site.

The KJB truly is the pure Words of the Lord, the (Spirit of truth) is the KJB! All those who trust modern version bibles are putting their trust in doctrines of devils ( 1 Tim 4:1) and deceiving themselves and others ( 2 Tim 4:3-4)

The Comforter IS the Holy Ghost ( Jn 14:26) This verse tells us that the "Comforter" WHICH IS the "Holy Ghost" will teach us all things "he shall teach you all things".

Now in ( Jn 16:13-15) This verse tells us "when the "Spirit of truth" is come, he will (guide) you into all truth"

The word (guide) is #3594; and it means to show the way.

The Spirit of truth will show the way to all truth, the KJB is that Spirit of truth! The Comforter, which IS the Holy Ghost, will teach us all things from the Spirit of truth.

The Comforter, which IS the Holy Ghost is joined with the Spirit of truth. ( Jn 14:16-17) v16 tells us "and he shall give you another "Comforter" that he may abide with you for ever". v17 tells us "(Even) the "Spirit of truth" whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you". The word (Even) is #2531; it means just (or inasmuch) as, according to, with which it is joined.

WITH WHICH IT IS JOINED? WOW!

The Comforter, which IS the Holy Ghost IS joined with the Spirit of truth.

The Holy Ghost, which is the Comforter IS joined with the Spirit of truth, which IS the King James Bible!

The KJB is the pure Words of the LORD ( Proverbs 30:5-6) and ( Ps 12:6-7)

All modern version bibles are words of men who (changed) the words of the living God to deceive, ( Jer 23:36) The word (perverted) is #2015; it means to turn about or over, to change. modern version bibles DONOT have the Holy Ghost joined with them! Those who are using modern versions cannot find this truth!

The Word of God is Alive, it truly is Amazing!!

    Blessings to you Momsage.

Hi Jimbob: It's good to hear from you and I am enjoying discussing the things of God on this site. I understand now that you don't get on here very often so I'll just look forward to hearing from you when you do. I enjoy reading your comments on the beautiful, true Word of God; the KJB. I think, just my thought, is that somehow before we leave here that God is going to somehow diminish the faith in these false translations. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and have a happy celebration of the birth of Christ. :) God Bless You
  • Jema - In Reply - 3 months ago
    Amen to you .
  • Hadassah - In Reply - 3 months ago
    Exactly right, Momsage! Thank you.

"Don't let yourself be fooled by ANY of the modern, corrupt translations. of the "bible." Stick to the 1611 KJB."

It takes more than belief. Even the demons believe and tremble. It takes more than faith IN Jesus, we must have the faith OF Jesus. We must be willing to die for this faith.

And, the evidence of our faith is the fruit that faith produces. Faith without works is dead. I do not do works to be saved, but rather, I do works because I am saved.
  • Momsage - In Reply - 3 months ago
Belief in Jesus as the true Savior is necessary for salvation, else you could believe He is the tooth fairy and get saved. The demons knew who He was, believed He was God, but not unto salvation.

How can I have the faith OF Jesus if I'm a sinner praying for salvation? Why would I be willing to die for that faith if Jesus hasn't even saved me yet? The faith I'm talking about is faith that Jesus will forgive of my sins so I can give my heart to Him.

When someone gives up sin to become a child of God, that's not a good work, that's obedience to God to live a holy, righteous life. Once we love God with our whole heart, souls and minds then we love doing good works for His sake. It brings joy to our hearts. :)

    Be Blessed

    Hi Momsage,

Yes, I agree with everything you said. I was just carrying it a step further.

We Christian's will face intense persecution in the near future. I want to have the same type of strong faith exhibited by our LORD. I want a firm, unwavering stand for the LORD so that I will not be moved no matter the consequence.

We Christian's do have faith IN Jesus and all that implies. Now, we need HIS same faith that he exhibited when going to the cross.

Your testimony made me feel joyful. Thank you for sharing. Praise the LORD that we both escaped the Catholic Church.
  • Momsage - In Reply - 3 months ago
Oh. Sorry I misunderstood your comment and I agree with it all. I knew you had been a Catholic. Your disdain for the doctrine seemed to match mine. I"d like to share a funny story with you? I can't say for sure it's true, I just heard it somewhere but I think you'll agree with me it very well could be.

A widow "donated " funds every month to a priest of her local church to pray for her husband who, she believed, was in purgatory so he could get to heaven sooner. After a very long time of donating she asked the priest she had been giving her "donations " to how much longer it would be? He told her not to much longer her husband still had a leg in purgatory. :) :)

I sent a comment to GiGi explaining that it is the doctrine of thr Catholic Church we loath not the Catholics. That we only want rescue from this evil doctrine and salvation for their precious souls. I believe you will agree. God bless you
  • Hadassah - In Reply - 3 months ago
    Hi Momsage,

That is funny story and absolutely based on the true experiences of their flock. As an ex Catholic, I have experiences of being told that we were expected to give a certain amount of money to be members. Now I am all in favor of tithing my 10%. But, the mercenary approach was quite off putting.

I do agree with all you said. And, it was well put. I do love the Catholic people. My very dear friend of several decades is Catholic. Recently, her mother died. My dear friend is certain her mother is haunting their home. And, my dear friend says she is happy that her mother is haunting the house. How do I tell her, if it is not in her imagination, that the haunting is a demon? Also, my parents were Catholic. My siblings were all Catholic. My children were all baptized Catholic. I unfortunately did not leave the church til I was 37.

You know, I heard a preacher say, "The truth goes marching on," in that greater and greater light (knowledge) is given to us as time goes on. Those churches with a statement of faith that does not allow for receiving greater light are forever stuck.

There are fascinating things to learn. And, as you are well aware, there is joy in that new discovery where Jesus becomes more personal.

I hope you have a fabulous day, Momsage. And, I pray "come LORD Jesus. Amen". :)
  • Momsage - In Reply - 3 months ago
Wow! The situation with your friend is so sad and so serious. :( Your friend, even if she is imagining the ghost, doesn't realize that the devil has her held captive by this evil idea and, what can you expect from believing in such a terrible doctrine. I'll pray for her and you for this situation. Knowing what to do is concerning. Do you think she would be willing to listen to your advise and the bible as to how God sees this thing. If God is so against it perhaps she would realize it isn't her mother but a servant of the devil trying to deceive her with a false sense of security, deceiving her into false beliefs. Perhaps if you can help her to realize and accept that God is saying, through His true word, that her mother has passed on and is not there with her then she might give up on this idea. References that might help you: 1 Timothy 4:1 - Leviticus 19:31 - 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 - 1 John 4:1.

I know a lot of people believe their loved ones are watching them from heaven, even Christians. I have always wondered if they have ever thought that through to a conclusion. Why God would allow such a thing when heaven is a place of peace and joy, why let people look down on this cursed world after they have gone to be with Him and are in His wonderful Prescence. I suppose they think their loved ones would want to do that but that doesn't make any sense either. Do they think Jesus isn't enough for the ones they've left behind to be there for them? Do they think the loved one is actually able to touch them with a sense of comfort somehow and to desire that instead looking to Jesus for their comfort? To look to someone else, a dead person instead of Jesus, for help from above is idolatry. Even worldly people believe this, like their deceased loved ones automatically went to heaven and since religious people accept it they do too. I hope this has been a little bit of help to you and, again I will be in prayer for you and her. :) God Bless

I wanted to tell you, also, that in a way it's sorrowful if your family is still caught up in the Catholic church but Jesus has made you a light in the darkness and He will use His beautiful light to shine on them with His beautiful truth. When I first heard the gospel I was thrilled. I had no idea that Jesus' death and resurrection actually meant I could be forgiven for all my sins at once as long as I asked Jesus to forgive me and not some grumpy old man every Saturday. I will keep your family in prayer also God Bless :)

We've been hearing more and more, that Time may be running out.

Sin is rampant in the world today. Many things in society as we once knew it is breaking down, and lawlessness is becoming the normal everyday activity.

A select few say that we are fast approaching the end of time. Per the many warnings of Jesus regarding signs that we are now seeing more and more. we may in fact be closer than we want to think..

Picking up the cross, turning away from this world, and following Jesus is not at all popular today. The pastors/preachers in most of our Churches today are living, popularizing, and encouraging worldly lifestyles.

    This movie doesn't look good.

    Hi Richard,

I am so glad that God gives us in Christ all that we need for life and godliness! Including repentance, faith, and a regenerated soul.

We are truly blessed with so great a salvation and so precious the mercies of God to us!
  • Hadassah - 3 months ago
The condition of the soul after death:

God told Adam and Eve that if they ate the apple, they would surely die. Satan told Eve, " You will surely NOT die."

The Protestant faith has bought into this lie, we will surely NOT die. The movies and tv shows in Hollywood promote ghosts in both comedy and drama. If the average person goes to church one hour a week, and rarely reads the Bible, this lie becomes entrenched.

This life we are now living is the time of our probation. The choices we make will determine whether we will be part of the first resurrection or the second resurrection. The condition of the human soul at death is in a state of sleep. The dead know nothing. The Bible is replete with verses supporting soul sleep.

Derek I have prayed today regarding your request.

When there are those in power who want to take away or diminish that which is truly good about our nation and instead support that which is not good and damaging to our nation and therefore to the world at large we should be prayerful and concerned. We should desire for our country to be one that God can use for good and for the advancement of the kingdom of God. We should be citizens who know our rights and our history so that we can know what we wish to stand for, fight for, and preserve.

Our rights as citizens are rights that are NOT given to us by the government, but come from God and reflect the freedom we have as Christians. If Believers will use these rights to do good, help one another, protect themselves and their neighbor, value the freedoms we are blessed to possess, and use our time in this world in this great country to further the cause of Christ in the world and be a defense against the ungodly ways of those who despise our Lord and Savior.

We in the U.S. have lived two centuries with these rights in place. Some of us have recent experiences with prejudice and restrictions on our basic human rights, bit most of us do not know what it is like to not be free in one's life, home, community, and country. if we knew such a lack of freedom first had, we would surely resist all the more anything that the government does to restrict the rights enumerated in our bill of rights and constitution (both of which were adopted as supreme law that cannot be overturned or altered by any other law that government may pass). The bill of rights and constitution was meant by the founders to be inalienable and not able to be reversed or impinged or overridden by government or by other citizen seeking to restrict these rights and constitutional law. These two pillars of our government ensure that we stay free and responsible as citizens.

So, we do need to pray more for God to intervene in our affairs in this nation.

I know the Bible is Symbolic and in many areas must be interpreted. But the best way to understand God's Word is to take it as literal as possible. When it says You can have Your Name Removed from the Lamb's Book of Life . That's what it means. It doesn't make a clause for Church goers, those who confessed Christ or knelt at a Alter . I can Accept The Mercy and Grace and Salvation of Jesus Christ and then be like Paul said . I could walk out of that Salvation and be a Reject of God. A goat on the Left . Even after I have been active in the Church, held positions, had a respect of others, tithed, Preached to Others. I still have to Die Daily . There are going to be so many that They get so close to The Things of Heaven. They will look in and Miss This Thing. Ask Judas Iscariot. If You Miss The Rapture You have Missed Everything. There are so many in ministry today adding and taking away from the Bible. God warned constantly of False Prophets in the Old Testament and the New doesn't cut any slack either. Grace has raised the standards . Man doesn't have a license to Sin and rise to meet Christ in the air. Your Salvation is Secure and Eternal when I or You get there . There are a 100 Verses in The New Testament alone that destroys the " Once Saved always Saved , live any Ol way ) This is the same Spirit that sat on Israel when They Blasphemed God . And it is hard to find a Minister that will warn People how real Hell really is . And how We cannot Afford to neglect so Great a Salvation. Jesus is Coming like a Thief in the Night. But there is Good News So We Must Always Remember that ALL WHO CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED. AMEN

    Hadassah:

    What are we save from?

One is SAVED from death, by the resurrection of Christ.

    Christ is the resurrection.

Christ is the LIFE, Christ is the book.

So everyone HAS BEEN SAVED from death, else Christ would have to die and be resurrected a second time.

Now it's down to BELIEF, you either believe you were made ONE FLESH with Christ by his resurrection, believing by faith, without seeing with physical eyes.

If one does not believe by faith, he will not take part in the first resurrection, he will have his name removed from LIFE.

He will lay in the grave till the second resurrection.

Salvation is being SAVED from DEATH.

Everyone will at some point be saved from DEATH.

    Then comes JUDGEMENT.

Psalms 149:5 Let the saints be joyful on glory:

Psalms 149:6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword (the word) in their hand:

Psalms 149:7 To execute vengeance upon the nations, and punishment upon the people,

Psalms 149:9 To execute upon them the judgement written: THIS HONOUR HATH ALL HIS SAINTS.

Everyone will be SAVED: from death.

You will either be a JUDGE or will be the ONE JUDGED, when CHRIST raises all the UNBELIEVERS.

Knowledge is coming to understand the RESURRECTION.

    God Bless YOU!

I agree with most of what you said except your "once saved always saved" interpretation. John 10:28 says "And I gave them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand". So isn't the issue who is REALLY saved and if so, only God knows.
  • Thedorse - In Reply - 3 months ago
You are absolutely right. No Man can pluck Me out of God's Hand . No King or President, terrorist, theorist, atheist, no army , no foreign threat, no doctrinal beliefs, or even death. But I can walk out of My Salvation. Jesus said Fear not Him which has power over the Body , to actually kill You. But Fear Him, God which has Power over the Body and Soul afterwards. I love that Verse where Christ chose 12 and gave them Power to cast out Devils and to heal sickness except for Judas Iscariot. Oh wait ,, hold on that Verse doesn't exist . And Jesus said Satan can't cast out Satan or His Kingdom is divided. At the Last Supper the Bible says Satan entered into Judas Iscariot. How did the Devil enter into a Place He is already at ? How can I be at Someone's home right now when Im sitting here ? I would have to depart ,, Amen. When Satan entered into Judas Iscariot then The Salvation of God departed . The same way that That the Spirit of The Lord departed from King Saul. A King annointed, chosen, gifted physically, given People anointed by God as support, a Band of Men. Acts 1 :: says Judas Iscariot died and went to His Own Place . At this very moment He is in Hell , weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. King Saul was told by the Demonic Spirit imitating Samuel the Prophet that tomorrow You will be with Me . Be with Me in Hell for Eternity. Neither was Plucked out by any Man. They Played around with God like The Church at Rome in Romans 1 :: . They became Vain, arrogant, proud and unthankful. They took God for granted. And Paul said ( When They Knew God ) . They were SAVED and Blood bought but now They no longer know God. Nobody can be Plucked Out of God's Hand . In Revelations 2 :: Jesus tells the Church at Ephesus and Every Christian Backsliding. Remember You have fallen and go back and redo Thy Works and repent or lose Your Place . Those Works are The Salvation of Jesus Christ. So it's Possible to Walk away from God .
