I've mentioned the above, not for any other reason but to emphasize that what man sees is not always what God sees. If your pastor/elder or anyone teaches that the saving work of God in a person, through His only Begotten Son, can also make allowance for error in God's election or if the 'saved' person chooses to reject Christ later on, then that can only have merit, if we look at a believer's standing through the eyes of man. Man sees a believer who turns his back to God (i.e. we first see him as a 'productive' Christian & now one living entirely in the flesh), then we say that person has lost his salvation, destined for Hell. God's view is entirely different. Please take time to read Romans 8, & especially focus on verses 29-39 to understand that God makes no mistakes & when we are truly His, we won't even contemplate departing from His great Love & our most Holy Faith.

And it is the reality of the Holy Spirit's indwelling in our lives that enables us in bringing forth all the Fruit, all of the Graces of Christ, in us for the blessing of many. This indwelling is not just to give us a 'nice feeling' of being loved & blessed by God, but also to give us the power to live a victorious life, of endurance & even to martyrdom. And so when Matthew 10:22, Revelation 3:5 & others, speak of endurance & overcoming to the end, we know that this is the final test of the worth of our salvation experience. All who were martyred: the apostles (except John), Polycarp, Wycliffe, Huss, Tyndale, Bonhoeffer, Elliott & his four friends with him, & countless more through the ages, all demonstrated the reality of their salvation & the cost to love the Lord to the end. When I read that many of them who were put to the burning stake, recited Psalms 51 for focus & strength during that walk to their death, I'm deeply moved by their singular thought to confess any known sin that would impede their abundant entrance into the Lord's presence rather than to the torment that awaited them. And so I ask myself: Would I be able to do the same? I believe that the answer to that is found in the Word: YES, we who are saved will have the Spirit's fortitude to stand confidently. (Acts 7:55.56) shows us Stephen's vision that strengthened him to accept death courageously. (onto Page 3).

Ed. From my reading of the Scriptures on this matter, I believe that a Christian cannot lose his/her salvation. However, rather than enter debate over this, I always ask the simple question: what is a Christian according to the Bible? This question on the surface may not require too much thought as one could quite simply say, that a Christian is one who has demonstrated faith in the finished Work of Christ on the Cross & has been forgiven on that basis. This statement alone sets him apart from any other religion or philosophy.

Yet, that person & those around him will generally accept this person as a Christian, but we see that there are checks on the road we travel on, to examine the authenticity of that salvation. So, what I see is that how we look at a claim to be a Christian is not necessarily how God looks at it. We see only as a man sees: a baptism, a changed life, hunger for God & the Word, ministry, evidence of apparent spiritual fruit/gifts, etc. & we praise God for such a life & we are then convinced. Or is being a Christian more than this? Something that most of us have never been tested on are: the matter of endurance, finishing the race, overcoming Satan & possibly martyrdom. These may not be observable traits to us now, but these (& taking the mark of the beast, as Bob pointed out), are what make up the full requirements for being a true follower of Christ. And please note that I'm not adding anything extra to our salvation, but to show that our 'true' salvation also encompasses these other aspects that may only be provable at our journey's end. (onto Page 2).

Yes there is. No person who has the Holy Spirit in dwelling, can call Jesus accursed.

They cannot call him Lord either. You have to choose now, whom you will believe.

You need to speak to your Pastor, your pastors wife; or a Christian counsellor if you seek privacy.

I've been divorced 36 years. Born again 35 years. I have no desire to be married again. Divorce seriously harms children emotionally; which should be held uppermost in our Mind; before diving into another marriage. I speak from experience.

Scripture says do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever. A pony and a Clydesdale horse cannot pull a wagon out of the barn. Did your husband know you are a Christian? Did he allow you to go to church?

This why you would do well to speak to your pastor/ Counselor; before telling kids anything.

I pray the Lord would show you what to do.

That is really stretching it. No one Loves Jesus more than I; I even have the cross on the wallpaper of my phone. I am also a student of the Bible, but it is what it is. Don't you realize the Jesus is the son of God? Why do you think he is called as being of the family of God? Half of his life is do to the Holy Spirit, which is of God the Creator.

Alan, from the reading of Scripture, I would say that the early Church & the present Bible believing Church viewed Christ's salvation, its operation & its application in the very same way. However, there were those in that early Church, Gnostics included, that wanted to corrupt its meaning, to which Paul was pained to address that important issue. And specifically, some would have the keeping of the Law, circumcision & traditions as part & parcel of this new faith. Galatians chapter 2 gives a clear demonstration of Peter's hypocrisy in this matter, to which Paul had to take him 'over the coals', as what Peter was requiring of the Gentiles was in direct conflict with the meaning of the Gospel of Salvation, i.e. that the Cross has set us free from the bindings & consequences of the Law. If then, from your question, "the early Church did not view salvation as the western Church does" is your belief, then if you could provide some evidence of this please?

As well, I did not understand your other question: "where did the doctrine of original sin come from?" If it's not from the Bible (Romans 5:12-21; 1 Cor 15:21,22), then I don't know from where else.

Truth, when Satan is kicked out of heaven he comes to deceive the whole world as Revelation 12:7,8,9 tells us and he stands in Jerusalem claiming he is God and with the power he has the world will be deceived. Satan returns as a false messiah and he doesn't care about killing you he wants worshippers. Don't go and don't follow Satan. Wait for the true Christ store food for 3 months and pay your bills up when you see the events begin because he is going to have a one world system and you don't want to follow him if you love Jesus. The time was shorten for the elect sake to 5 months as the book of Revelation tells us.
  • Joseph - in Reply on Matthew 1
Jesus is like an adopted son of Joseph. I got this from the Jewish Virtual Library about adoption, "Once a child has been adopted, the adoptee must be treated as if it were biologically the adopter's own. The adoptee is required to honor and respect his/her parents in accordance with the laws of the Torah."

As to his earthly identity, it follows that Jesus is indeed Joseph's son and belonging to the tribe of Judah in the lineage of David.

  • Mike on Genesis 1:7
    Genesis 1:7 KJV

    (7) And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

God divided the waters (people) which were under the firmament (the unbelievers) from the waters (people) which were above the firmament (the believers).

Jesus said He was from above while those who did not believe Him were from beneath.

    John 8:23-24 KJV

    (23) And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

    (24) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

As God divided the waters, we also must not be unequally yoked together (those who are above with those from under the firmament) with the unbelievers of the Word of Truth that we hear spoken from above. The firmament or expanse is the opening up of our ears to the hearing of the knowledge of God spoken from Heaven. Belief/faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God.

    2 Corinthians 6:14-15 KJV

    (14) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

    (15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

The waters were divided as God calls us to come out from among the unbelievers of the Word of Truth and be separate from them. What communion does light have with those of are of the darkness?

    2 Corinthians 6:17-18 KJV

    (17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

    (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Ed - I know we can not "lose" our salvation like you lose your car keys or a wallet.

However can we throw away our salvation?

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

(Seems our names can be BLOTTED out of the book of life)

Exodus Chapter 32:31 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Jesus in Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. (Why would Jesus say we must endure to the end?)

Jesus in Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Revelation Chapter 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

I do not care what sinners prayer anyone says, if they take the mark I believe their are doomed.

Sadly Millions of Church goers do not believe they will ever have to make this choice to refuse it.

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty [and] two months.

3 And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. (1,260 days)

Revelation Chapter 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months. (42 Months)

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

We should all know the good things the Lord says about Jerusalem. However

Jerusalem: What the Bible alone says... Part 1

Isaiah 3:8 - For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

Micah 3:10 - They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

Jeremiah 4:14 - O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

Jeremiah 8:5 - Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

Jeremiah 9:11 - And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

Jeremiah 13:27 - I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

Jeremiah 19:3 - And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.

Jeremiah 23:14 - I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 44:9 - Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

    Jerusalem Part 2

Lamentations 1:8 - Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.

Ezekiel 16:2 - Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,

Malachi 2:11 - Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

Revelation 11:8 - And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (end time Jerusalem)

Jesus, my LORD, was crucified in Jerusalem, which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt.

Matthew 23:37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Bill sometimes those words meaning Lord or King is associated with satanism.

Baal meant Lord and was so associated with satanism the Lord said not to call him that anymore.

Judges 2:13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Judges 8:33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baalberith their god.

Jeremiah 19:5 They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: (CHILD SACRIFICES)

Hosea 2:16 And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

1 Kings 11:5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

2 Kings 23:13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

What is this "original Hebrew" stuff? Do you want to call the God of Heaven a name associated with Devils?
