The number of short feathers on the left wing is 2 (for President Kennedy and President Nixon). How is President Carter and President George Herbert Walker Bush treated. They both served 1 term of 4 years. Are they considered short feathers?

    Thanks,

    P.S. A fantastic presentation!

Very good and true points. "The Bible gives the history of people, which includes the good and bad of what they did. People did much evil then just like people do much evil today " That's why we all need Christ.

    Chris,

I do agree that there are other English translations that are easier to read than the KJV. Maybe that's why I was given a Living Bible as my first Bible. It's not one I would recommend to anyone. I definitely wouldn't give it to one of my kids or grandkids. I don't think my mother knew much about the LB before she gave it to me. It's not even a translation, but a paraphrase. That's what concerns me about paraphrase bibles. The author can write anything he or she wants and then publish it. I only used two verses as an example. There are many others that I feel completely change the true meaning of the text. That's what matters the most to me. I am not a "King James Only" person, even though that is the translation I study from. There are other good English translations that are easier to read than the KJV. I can't argue that. But for myself, I stay away from the LB. I hope I have not offended anyone here that does use that version. We are all free to choose whatever Bible we want. We just have to ask ourselves what is most important to us when choosing a translation, accuracy or easy to read.

Greetings Joan, where did Cain get his wife?

I believe the answer to that lies in a careful reading of the book of Ezekiel 31.

Does one build a city with just a husband and a wife as Cain did Genesis 3:17

Mike that is very well written. I know we are limited to how much we can write on this forum and thought that I would add this to those wonderful thoughts you posted.

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. a beast rise up out of the sea

Revelation Chapter 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many WATERS waters:

14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful.

15 And he saith unto me, The WATERS waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

    Isaac,

Romans 8:28 basically states that the plan of God will be done through His "elect" children.

God also utilizes Satan's children to bring about His perfect plan, look at Isaiah 10:5, 19:25, Jeremiah 42:18, etc.

The "elect" children of God concerns "predestination," look at Romans 8:29-30, 1 Corinthians 2:7, Ephesians 1:5, 11.

Predestination has to do with understanding that there are 3 earth and heaven ages spoken of in the word of God, 2 Peter 3:5-6 speaks of the 1st dispensation of time; 2 Peter 3:7 speaks of the 2nd dispensation of time; and 2 Peter 3:13 speaks of the 3rd dispensation of time.)

The 1st earth and heaven age ended due to the fall of Satan, and is recorded in Genesis 1:1-2. The earth BECAME without form and void; God did not make it that way!

The 2nd earth and heaven age came into being when the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said Let there be Light (Genesis 1:2-3)

The 3rd earth and heaven age is what all children of God look forward to.

God "did foreknow" (Romans 8:29) each and every one of us because we were all there in the 1st Dispensation of time.

Jeremiah was (foreordained) a prophet BEFORE he was born (Jeremiah 1:5).

God hated Esau BEFORE he was born because Esau despised his (birth)-right and (likely) followed Satan in the 1st earth age (Genesis 25:32-34, Malachi 1:3, Romans 9:13, Hebrews 12:16)

    Hi Chris,

I have been real busy. You sound kind of post-trib or pre-wrath to me when you mentioned God's wrath in your comment. There is no reason to put a gap in 1st Thess. 4:13-18 just because harpazo and parousia are in verses 15 and 17. The Bible doesn't do that so we shouldn't do that. It seems to me that the rapture is THAT particular resurrection whether you want to believe in more than one. Yes, there is no gap in that passage just like there is no gap in Genesis 1:1 and verse 2 thta some scholars magically put in there ignoring grammar, context and the word yom.

I believe it is this way.

    1. Satan pours out his wrath for 3 1/2 years based on Revelation stating a 3 1/2 year time period, not a 7 year that supposedly wasn't fulfilled in Daniel 9:24 - 27 because the Bible clearly states that Jesus died in the middle of the 70th week if you follow the antecedent of 'he' in verse 27 as it points to Matthew, 23's curse. This is why verse 27 in Daniel 9 doesn't say abomination but plural abominationS. This verse has nothing to do with a future antichrist but is Jesus Himself as that is what the passage is about and fulfills all the warnings of Matthew 20, 21, 22, and 23.The abominationS is the return to animal sacrifice for 40 years after Jesus died.

    2. God pours out his wrath with plagues for an indeterminate amount of time. We know ONE plague lasts 5 months alone so my guess is at least a few years to ten or more. The Bible doesn't state either way. My question for you here is since this is typology of the time God brought Israel out of Egypt, 1. where were the children of Israel at the time of the plagues?, Answer: still in Egypt and Egypt is a type of the world.

    3. Grapes of WRATH. THE RETURN OF JESUS. This wrath really is the beginning of judgment where the wicked are taken first as in the days of Noah.

    God Bless!

The "dry" land is the meek heart dried up the waters of evil speaking. Happy are the "poor in spirit"that is, poor in breath as they will be swift to hear His opened mouth teaching and slow to speak.poor in words.

    Matthew 5:2-3 KJV

    (2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

    (3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The good ground.the honest and good heartshall hear the Word and keep it and bring forth the fruit of righteousness towards His teaching of the Word of God.

    Luke 8:15-16 KJV

    (15) But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The earth shall bring forth "grass"that is, peace within the heart. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. They will act in the wisdom that descends from above and not in that earthly, devilish wisdom that is from below the Heaven.

    James 3:18 KJV

    (18) And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

The herb yielding seed after his kind is faith in what they hear Him saying. There are different degrees of faith. The fruit tree yielding fruit whose seed is in itself is the kingdom of God within us that can grow into a great tree. We are to be His planting of the trees of His righteousness.

    Luke 13:18-19 KJV

    (18) Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

    (19) It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

The seed within us is able to save our souls but we must be "dry" within the heart of all superfluity of naughtiness that overflows the heart in words. We must be doers of His Word.

    James 1:21 KJV

    (21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

    Joan,

Cain found his wife because Adam and Eve were not the only two people living on earth at that time.

(Genesis 1:26 - 28) states that on the 6th day God created mankind, BOTH male and female, blessed them, and told them to be fruitful and multiply, RE-plenish the earth, subdue it, and have dominion over every living thing on it.

God also created Adam on the 6th day. Adam, however, was not told to subdue the earth and have dominion over it.

Adam was put in a garden in Eden (Genesis 2:7, 8) completely by himself (Genesis 2:18, 1st Timothy 2:13).

The instructions given to Adam were to dress the garden and to keep it (Genesis 2:15). Adam was a farmer, and the animals brought to him in (Genesis 2:19 - 20) were utilized for that particular purpose.

The instructions given to Adam are completely different than the instructions given to the rest of mankind in Genesis 1:28-29 because God specifically chose Adam to stand against the serpent in the garden, and God chose the lineage of Adam to bring forth the Savior of the world. (It is interesting to note that unlike Noah, Abraham, Moses, etc., who are all stated as being faithful or righteous, that is nowhere stated of Adam; but it may be implied, as God did choose him).

The Bible uses translated words such as "peoples," "nations," "heathen," and "gentiles" to define people as "foreign" or, in other words, a different lineage than Adam. The reason Cain found a wife in the land of Nod, east of Eden (Genesis 4:16) is because the other races of people created by God on the 6th day were living on the earth, reproducing, and having dominion over it.

It is interesting to note that for over 6000 years of marriages between the races of the world, those same races are still very much distinguishable......and ALL are blessed through the perfect plan of God, (Genesis 1:28 12:2-3, 26:4, etc.)

As to why the earth was being RE-plenished by God, look at (2nd Peter 3:5 - 7, 13).

Genesis 1:10 KJV(10) And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

God called the "dry" land Earth as the meek shall inherit the earth. The dry, meek heart shall be dried of the waters of strife as they will humbly hear the opening up of His mouth that will teach us. He will open up the Scriptures to our hearing ears and we are to take heed on how we hear for we shall be given more.

    Matthew 5:2 KJV

    (2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Happy are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth as they shall hear HIs teaching humbly. The "dry" heart shall be dried of all evil and evil speaking....the waters of strife. God called the dry land "Earth" for the meek shall inherit the earth.

    Matthew 5:5 KJV

    (5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

But the gathering of the waters are people who will resist what they hear and don't understand as the "raging waves of the sea" foaming out their own shame as they speak a multiple amount/superfluity of evil words in their envy and strife. The wicked shall not understand Him as the "blackness of darkness" is reserved for them.

    Jude 1:13 KJV

    (13) Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

The wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest whose waters cast up mire and dirt (as they will speak multiple evil words in their contention of His teaching). There is no peace to the wicked.

    Isaiah 57:18-21 KJV

    (18) I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

    (19) I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.

    (20) But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

    (21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

  • Mike on Genesis 1:9
Genesis 1:9 KJV(9) And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

The Word of God spoken in truth causes people to either resist in their wrath what is being said with the "superfluity of naughtiness" or they "dry" up the waters of strife upon their hearts and humble themselves to the hearing of it. The meek shall inherit the earth as God called the "dry" Earth

The "waters" of people under the Heaven are the unbelievers of His Word as they gather together against it. They will rage/roar against it as the churning of the angry seas. While the "dry" heart will be swift to hear His Word and will be slow to speak and slow to wrath.

    James 1:19-21 KJV

    (19) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

    (20) For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The "dry" is the meekness of the heart that has put away the waters of strife towards what they hear. The "dry" appears.

    (21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

The "sea" and all that is in them are the people who rage and are gathered together against His Christ as illustrated in Acts 4. He has made Heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them:

    Acts 4:24-27 KJV

    (24) And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

    (25) Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

    (26) The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

    (27) For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

To shake off- so that something adhering shall fall: this is symbolic act a person expresses extreme contempt for another and refuses to have any further contact with him.

This is what happens when someone refuses the word of God. When a person refuses the word of God they are refusing God. (See John 1:1) If any man denies the Lord, he shall be denied. (see 2 Tim. 2:12)

Both these words bear heavily on Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross, though their meaning & application is different. When we speak of Atonement, though it is mentioned very often in the Old Testament in relation to the Jewish sacrifices, it is mentioned only once in Romans 5:11 "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." and in Romans 3:25, 1 John 2:2, 4:10, the word used is Propitiation. Both very similar in meaning.

In both instances of these words, the reference is to what Jesus' Sacrifice accomplished for us. So, to Atone or Propitiate has two aspects to it: one is expiation of our sins (Jesus dealing with/cancelling our sins) & the other, the removal or satisfying of God's Wrath that was against us sinners. So the word, Atonement, uses these two thoughts which were required by God before He could forgive us our sins. If Christ wasn't the Perfect, required Sacrifice, then there would be no basis for God to accept that Sacrifice. But since He was the Perfect Lamb of God sacrificed for us, God could then forgive us entirely on what Jesus did. If anyone tries to add to that sacrifice, whether by some extra effort to please God or self denial or self harm, then that person is saying that Christ's Sacrifice was insufficient to do its work. And this is very wrong.

So Atonement is what God required from His Son's Sacrifice, & Forgiveness is what we receive from God based on His Acceptance of the Sacrifice & our faith in Jesus.

I believe with good faith that The Father (Almighty God), the Word (the Christ Lord) and the holy spirit are ONE.

When God acts it is also the works of the Word and the Holy Spirit

When the Word acts it is also the works of the Father and His Holy Spirit

When the Holy Spirit acts it is also the works of the Word and the Father

God the Father of Creation expresses His will through both the Word and His Holy Spirit

The NKJV is essentially a modernized version of the KJV, removing the 'Thee(s) & Thou(s)" & using some more familiar words to today's reader. There are of course, some critics to its textual accuracy, but I've always said, that I would rather a believer read the Bible he can understand, than trying to cope with 17th century English & not understand what is being read. Having said that, many Bible scholars speak highly of the NASB as being both modern & faithful to the original manuscripts. I've never used either - I'm too old fashioned & just can't identify with any other translation. The first editions of the Good News Bible & Readers Digest Bible were full of errors, but I do admit finding some value in the Living Bible(!).

The intriguing errors you cited, Jesse, were not totally unreasonable, if the Scriptures are the same ones I'm thinking of. 1 Ki 18:27 speaks of Elijah taunting the worshippers of Baal who couldn't arouse their god to hear them. So Elijah suggested they cry out louder since he may be busy, sleeping, on a journey, or 'pursuing' = relieving himself. So, fortunately, the LB doesn't apply this act to our God.

The other one is in 1 Sam 20:30 when Saul's anger was "kindled against Jonathon" & he called him "you stupid son of a whore" = "son of a perverse rebellious woman". And of course, the word 'whore' is used quite liberally in the Scriptures. So, it can raise eyebrows with its flowery language, so there may be some (limited) value in it.
