I feel there is a significant detail that is possibly a detail that the LORD wants to show you. You may want to independent research about lions. I would be interested in what you find relating to what the LORD shows you!

You have been given some false hope that everyone will be saved in the end. The bible never says that everyone will be saved in the end. In fact, the bible says that in the end, at the Great White Throne Judgement, many will be cast into the lake of fire for eternity.
Now, concerning your grandson, my heart breaks for you. I am a grandfather myself and I can't even begin to imagine the feeling of losing a grandchild. I don't think there is a way to answer your question with 100% surety.
I think there are some factors in play here, age and mental capacity would be a couple of factors. Going to church is not a deciding factor on who goes to heaven and who does not. I don't think God cares how often we go to church, or if we even go at all. I think what cares about is our hearts response to Him.
Maybe your grandson was too young to comprehend God or comprehend the gospel message of salvation. If that's the case, then I would like to believe that God, being a just God, would take that into consideration, and I would like to believe that your grandson is with Him in heaven now, but I just can't tell you that for sure. I don't think any of us here can. I pray that the Lord will bring you comfort from the loss of your grandson.

Richard H Priday: I agree, looking at Christ Himself would be a great example. Jesus said that He came not to do His own will, but the will of His father who sent Him. Did Jesus have a "free will?" Could He have chosen to disobey His father? The answer to that would be no. Disobedience would have been considered sinful and it was impossible for Jesus to sin.

There are many instances in the OT where we see God's will and people going against His will, and the consequences for doing so. Hello Free: Yes, "a free will will end in disaster" every time when it goes against God's will. Kay spoke of surrendering to Christ and being in submission to Him. I believe that is the key to everything. The things you wrote are a perfect example of what it means to be in submission to God's will. I love how you never gave yourself credit for the things in your walk with the Lord, but you credit Him for everything. Amen!

Free, that is a beautiful statement. We can know with complete confidence that we one day will be brought home. In fact, it is God's will to bring us home one day, and His will can never be broken. ( John 6:39-40). God Bless you!

You hit the nail on the head. It is best to surrender to Him. I agree. As believers, I think it is God's will to bring us through this life until we one day go to be with Him. And yes, as you say, He sometimes places hardships in our lives for a reason. We don't always understand the reason. Some even curse God when they are going through extreme hardships. But if we truly surrender to Him, we then come to the realization that our hardships are designed by God to teach us to trust Him.
When you said "Why fight against God?" it reminded me of a time in my early Christian life where I came to that realization that most of my days were spent fighting against God. I didn't realize I was doing it, but I found myself many times doing my own thing (free will?), instead of what God would have me to do. God would put it on my heart to do something but I wanted to do something else. I had to make a choice, am I going to follow God, or my own free will? Oftentimes I did what I wanted to do instead. You see, I was dictating to God how my circumstances were going to turn out. In the end, God always wins. He has a way of bringing us into submission when we choose to go against what He wills in our lives.

ELB: Thanks for the reply. I am not sure I would call a doctrine. To me it's more of a concept. I do think that God allows us to choose. When you say it is God living his life in us, I agree. He has a will for each of us if we belong to Him, and He carries out His will, apart from our choices. I like to think about the story of Jonah. It was God's will that Jonah go to Nineveh. But Jonah had "free will" and he chose to go the opposite way. We know the outcome! You answered the question straight up at the beginning by saying God's will. Thank you!

Your examples make a lot of sense. Depends on the age/maturity of you grandson generally children are protected from going anywhere but right next to God I believe until your about 13 or 14 is when a person is mature enough to comprehend and able to read the Bible with an understanding that makes you accountable for all your actions at that maturity level which is different for all children and you don't have to go to church to go to heaven you just need to believe and accept the lord into your heart and mind and be renewed and walk the way god expects you to.

A Love for lost souls would be a requirement. Certainly The Lord desires for us to reach out to the lost: in sin, confused with drink or drugs; visual sins.
Or, you may be called to be an intercessor: one who stands between the evil and the Lord, and prays heaven down to earth to save that soul.

He brought me to repentance, He showed me my sin, He showed me the errors of my man-made, superstitious religion - and I believed on Him and in that moment was born from above! In that one moment, God took out my stony heart, and put in me a heart of flesh. My sanctification, your sanctification, the sanctification of every born-again, blood bought believer is a process, it is us 'working out our salvation with fear and trembling', as the Bible says.
But as for salvation, there must be a time when we can point to when God dealt with us, and changed us from within by being born-again by the Spirit of the living God! As for me, it was the best day of my life! Praise Jesus! That was almost 39 years ago, and Jesus is sweeter than ever! :)
Yes, salvation is a singular event, which a believer will never forget in his whole life. We cannot keep getting 'saved', but we can keep getting 'sanctified', i.e. growing in grace, becoming more and more rooted in God's Word and growing in faith. I share these things because I am concerned about you, wanting to be sure that you KNOW you are saved by being born again by believing the gospel of Christ...and then, after that, being changed little by little by the Holy Spirit!

This is a great comfort to those of us with loved ones who have passed into eternity and we are not sure of the destination of their souls. God is a sovereign Judge of righteousness, full of grace and mercy to all who call upon Him. It is His very justice that offers a "way" for all to escape the judgment of His righteousness, and it is in that justice that we must rest. It is grace that saves us, and it is grace in which we must stand when we go through the double grief of the death of an unsaved loved one. We must remember that we cannot make this choice for anyone else, and if they went into eternity without Christ, that was their choice in spite of the offer of grace.
Although we may have pain in the remembrance of that loved one while we are in this life and go through the grief process, there will come a time when each born-again believer will be with the Lord. In that day "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" ( Revelation 21:4). We cannot comprehend how that will be because we live in time and are constrained by our finite minds. However, just the thought of that is enough to bring comfort and encouragement. When we see the Lord, all of the sorrow we have now will disappear. "You now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you" ( John 16:22). In the meantime, we can lean on the everlasting arms of God, who feels our pain and comforts us with His great love and mercy.
