  • Doctrine of Purgatory - In Reply on Psalms 34 - 1 year ago
Of all of the teachings of Catholicism,Purgatoryis probably the one most often attacked by Catholics themselves. There are at least three reasons why that's so: many Catholics do not understand the need for Purgatory; they do not understand the scriptural basis for Purgatory, and they have been unintentionally misled by priests and catechism teachers who themselves do not understand what the Catholic Church has taught and continues to teach about Purgatory.

And so many Catholics have become convinced that the Church quietly dropped her belief in Purgatory a few decades ago.

So why do so many people think that belief in Purgatory is no longer a doctrine of the Church? Part of the confusion arises because some Catholics conflate Purgatory and Limbo, a supposed place of natural bliss where the souls of children who die without having received Baptism go because they are unable to enter Heaven since Baptism is necessary for salvation. Limbo is a theological speculation, which has been called into question in recent years by no less a figure than Pope Benedict XVI; Purgatory, however, is doctrinal teaching.

The eternal punishment of sin can be removed through the Sacrament of Confession. But the temporal punishment for our sins remains even after we have been forgiven in Confession, which is why the priest gives us a penance to perform.

    Acts 26:18

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

    Ephesians 1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

I am not going to accuse or anything like that. Jesus sees us from birth to death. God lives outside of the TIME of earths clock. Come to Jesus. Agree with John 3 in the Bible. Receive Jesus into your heart. Live just for Jesus.

Dear Edward, please read Genesis 3:22

"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become AS ONE OF US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:"

I think the above "as one of us" gives you an answer.

    Billy:

Not everyone was ordained to take part in the FIRST RESURRECTION.

If your part IS NOT in the first resurrection; you lay in the grave until the SECOND RESURRECTION.

Romans 8:19 For the earnest EXPECTATION of the creature WAITETH for the manifestation of the SONS of GOD (first resurrection).

Romans 8:21 Because the creature ITSELF also shall be DELIVERED (second resurrection) from bondage of corruption (the grave) into the glorious liberty of the CHILDREN OF GOD.

1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things (including death and the grave) shall be subdued unto him ..... GOD WILL BE ALL IN ALL.

1 Corinthians 15:54 .....Death is swallowed up in victory.

    God Bless YOU!

    Amen Brother Alex:

Man does slow down when he is studying God's word and determine WHO the PRONOUN is.

Jeremiah 1:4 Behold the WORD of the LORD (the Father) came unto ME (the Christ, the Holy Ghost), SAYING,

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I (the Father, the Holy Spirit) formed thee (Jesus) in the belly (womb of Mary) I (the Father) knew thee (the Christ); and before thou (Jesus) came out of the womb I (the Father) sanctified thee (Jesus), and ordained the a PROPHET unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:6 Then said I (the Christ, the Holy Ghost), Ah, Lord God, I (the Christ, the Holy Ghost) CANNOT SPEAK: for I AM a CHILD (the SEED).

Jeremiah 1:7 But the Lord (the Father) said unto to me (the SEED), say not I AM a child: for thou (the Holy Ghost) shall go

to all that I (the Father) send thee (the Christ), and whatsoever I (the Father) COMMAND THEE (the Holy Ghost) shall speak.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I AM in the FATHER, and the FATHER in ME? the words I speak unto you I speak not of MYSELF: but the Father that DWELLEST IN ME, HE DOETH THE WORKS.

Colossians 1:27....this mystery ....Christ in YOU .....

Christ (the man) is the BODY OF HIS FATHER. The Father (the Holy Ghost. the LIFE) does everything through Christ.

We are the BODY OF CHRIST; the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost (the LIFE) does every thing through man.

As the Father and CHRIST are ONE; WE and CHRIST (the Holy Ghost) are ONE.

    God Bless YOU!

What does the Bible say about Elohim?

The Jewish Scriptures teach us that 'Elohim is an honorific title, which expresses the plural of majesty, not Majesties, more than one, but one... your majesty. King of kings. The underlying reason for the grammatically plural form 'Elohim is to indicate the all-inclusiveness of God's authority as possessing every conceivable attribute of power in one deity, not three.! Only He, Jesus Christ - God Almighty has such power to do as He wants and pleases to do and doesn't need any other authority, moreover that of man's laws what has messed up God's laws. So I say Elo = I am, and him = one, not three.!

It is my God-given right to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion and Freedom of the Press which this is, as well as the man-made Constitution Document says that I and you have these rights, but given us these inalienable rights by God first.! God is one, not three.!There is no such thing as Trenity or three entities; it is a man-made word and religion took it as such outside God's Word, and it is pagan in my opinion when you don't believe.! The true Bible says so as does even the orthodox one states God became Jesus when He manifests Himself into Jesus so as to walk amongst man in the flesh.! And He will return as Jesus once again in the end. Come judgment day, all things will be revealed when you deny God, you deny His Word.! I hope everyone will come and re-read His holy words and take them literally as is. As far as when God said let's make man in our image, he was speaking to the angels that he had already made in His own image. People need to wake up because if you don't, and you believe what you want and not God who is Jesus Christ - God Almighty, then hell is but a slippery step away.! The word "Elohim" means one, look at it correctly as saying 'I am one'; Elo = I am and him = one.! Man-made singular and plural terms, not God.! It is true that God is the father, son, and holy spirit, but as one, not there and He, God wants us to know this. Again, it is man-made, not made by God. God is the word.! So, deny it and you deny God.! I am interpreting the entire book of Revelation and will publish them when I am finished. So watch for them on amazon and in other venue book stores. Jesus is the New Covenant in case you didn't know this fact. The Bible ain't as complicated as you think it is if you can actually read and read between the lines for all hidden words from the Lord of lords and King of Kings, Jesus Christ - God Almighty.! May God bless everyone, yes even the sinner amongst you and me.! Amen.! God bless everyone.!

Our salvation is not a singular event or even a sprint but a marathon . " Life isn't about how to survive the storm , but how to dance in the rain " ."The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing"(John Powell) " Real integrity is doing the right thing knowing that nobody is going to know whether you did it or not"(Oprah Winfrey).Pray, read the Bible, do what you can especially by example. One can see what is all over the place in the world ,lead by example. Learn from when you commit a sin , no matter whether it is small or of a larger magnitude, it can & will happen, repent, pray, reach out when tribulations rain down ,reach out to share blessings,we learn by all of these, sometimes others learn. Bible verses shared in comments, I read not only the verse , but the entire chapter many times. God Bless!

I believe that God does know all things. I also believe that the Word also says that, who soever will may come. Just think that out of all the people in this world, there will only be a few that are going to be born again.

A free will will end in disaster.

For the Lord Jesus did only what the Father told Him. But Jesus also longed for something He knew. So when we believe and long for something we can not see with our earthly eyes. Will the vision fail, true? Not always, we have 100,000 and more that prove that a vision holds. But that vision must come from the Lord, then there is no free will.

Not One day since i bent my knee i can say i live in my own will!

    Because Jesus lives in me!

Everything He did was just good. He also just wants Good. He heals me every day to think / do / live / and work for His church. If one day i have not been able to work the way I want to. I know Jesus lives in me, little me. He encourages me, leads me where i do not want to go. There are the essence friends. He leads me to pray / wake up at night, and pray. I constantly think in my spare time thinking about the Lord and His kingdom. Is it not so beloved friends? The freedom i have is to talk about Jesus, remind other people of the kingdom of God, and so on, and that by only the Grace of God. Now i was reminded of a word again also Mark 10:30 here is a clear answer that our free will is a promise on what we do not see! Chew on persecutions, i get laughed every time i come across this verse as the Lord Himself says. Stay blessed all and dont follow your own will. Be happy for something bigger than u can see will reveal in you, and even one day we meet there as Jesus Is.

Walk on the road and always be happy, know that we will come home to the Father Himself and see Jesus and all the loved ones who have gone before us. Thank Jesus Christ always.

God bless us all in Jesus name, love u in Christ.

Dear all, It says in the Holy Scriptures YES. But who wrote it? It is so easy to forget that Our dear brother Paul was a man who traveled all over the areas around Israel, all the way to Rome / Italy in fact. Jesus says nothing about the women waiting until they were spoken to. But the Master Him Self had a perfect love for the womens in His life. He taught Everyone. But the customs around where Paul went. Had customs that then meant that this was too complicated for the women. It suited very well for the men's fulfillment that the women looked after the house and at home / looked after children and cooked. Therefore then a recommended / injunction in the middle of freedom that women should learn at home. For it was the custom of the men of the Corinthian lands to do so.

Especially in Cyprus we still see this. A woman is never in a cafene as it is called. If she walks, she's a whore. There are only men. Women do not go to cafes without their husbands. Then it must be in special cafes. They are Orthodox Christians. And hold on saints and images of gods, which are then images of people who have lived. But they believe in Jesus. Many places in Cyprus, it is the Priesthood that decides more than the President, everything must go through them. It has used to be so, but I think these days there is something about the fact that Christianity must be a separate policy. So only this country shows that the customs still exist. Believe that some groups still do this among the Jews. They have it from the Law of Moses.

BUT were we not set free, Did not Jesus take and set us all free when He rose from the dead? Both men and women? Or can I say Women and Men. Some are still clinging to this. Let it be far away from us the free family!

It is very sad to hear about these male-dominated relationships around the world.

    Mark 10:1-12

Hi Rohit. I think you're referring to some of Jesus' last words to the apostles in Acts 1:4,5. Or maybe to Peter's preaching to those unbelievers during Pentecost in Acts 2:14-21 (as written by the prophet Joel).

If so, then Peter was referring to Joel 2:28-32. A part of this prophecy has taken place at Pentecost (the birth of the Church) and the latter part of the prophecy (vv 30,31) is yet to take place. But all these events are placed in what is referred to as 'the last days' (i.e. the whole period of time from Jesus being sacrificed for our sins, His Spirit poured out upon those who've come to Him in faith, & the Church moving on & growing through evangelization & strengthening of the faithful, & eagerly waiting for the time when God finally begins to close the curtains of this age).

Not long after I replied to your question, I noticed the statement looked incomplete. I decided to leave it believing you would understand based on the previous sentence. Then the LORD confirmed the thought with scripture!

Samuel wept for Saul. Samuel being the Judge of Israel: 1Samuel 7:15, Samuel came on the scene because Eli & his sons were dishonoring GOD & GOD's laws. As set forth in the Books of Deuteronomy, & Leviticus, given to Moses, recorded in Exodus 24 - 30, full chapters & Numbers. 1Samuel 1, 1Samuel 2:22-25, 1Samuel 2:11-18, they were the Priests yet they did their own will. (also fitting for your question) 1Samuel 2:27-36, 1Samuel 2:26, 1Samuel 3, = 1Samuel 4, please note also in Exodus 32, these were actions out of GOD's will, Genesis 13:13, Genesis 19, Yet when Abraham prayed GOD would have spared them all if there were 10 righteous at Abraham's request Genesis 18:16-33,

also comes to mind, GOD allows people to intercede on behalf of others even sinful, the ultimate example is Jesus, even now on our behalf

    2Peter 3:9, Luke 17:25-30, 2Chronicles 16:9, Romans 8:34,

With all of these. Why do you ask?

    Genesis 1:28, John 16:23, John 14:13,

    Hopefully these are all helpful

I know what scripture teaches about the Holy Spirit. Long ago I threw open the doors of my heart for Him to come in. I have enjoyed almost 37 years of daily fellowship, learning at His feet, sitting in the closet just listening for Him to speak to my spirit. Whatever He says, I pray for it or the person, the nation, the world. I'm available. I'm single and retired and have plenty of time to pray. Sometimes I just sing. Life with the Holy Spirit is sweet and soul satisfying. I think my spirit and soul worship together. I long for heaven, but I'm still here for all you guys and ladies.

    Goodnight fellow worshippers.

I drifted away from God in my teens. I got into the occult because of relatives mostly. But my Christian Grandmother had my name in her Bible, praise God. Sh sent me love letters saying how much God loved me, and her also.

God started peeling me like an onion until all my security in myself was dropped off. I was naked and needy! One day while doing a horoscope for a Methodist; God appeared in a vision over her face. I was seeing Jesus on a white horse, looking straight at me. The demons scattered (my guess). My friend said then something like 2 Timothy 3:5 and left!

I went to get the Bible and find out why what I was doing was wrong. I looked up stars, astrology, astrologers, and I fell over the Death Penalty for doing it. I laid my head on the Bible and said, I deserve to die. My floor opened so I could see hell: dense twisted roots, blackness and screams. I stood on the chair and I heard loud wind. I became convinced a hand was outstretched to me from the ceiling. I opened my hand and closed it. I fell in the floor, but hell was gone. I heard screams from being delivered, and then I passed out.

I woke up next morning and my entire home was silent and peaceful. It looked the same, but brighter. I saw the Bible on the table and open. I made coffee to try to remember what happened. The Holy Soirit impressed on me what Acts 19:19 tells. I worked all day filling a 35 gallon can with books, idols, zodiac anything, Beer tshirts, posters, jewelry, and dragged it outside. Two days my friend returned and I told her I was born again. We celebrated by pouring charcoal lighter on the can and watched the contents of 15 years go up in smoke. I had return attacks by demons, but I defeated them with faith that GOD LOVED ME, and sent His Son to rescue me.

I gave me and my 6 yr old son to Jesus. I gave my house to Jesus and a new Pastor and his family moved into it. He said the house felt so peaceful.

    I'm blessed.

Mary is not to be worshipped, why are you virgil on a KJV website that promotes a protest against the catholic cult and NOT for it. roman catholicism and any other forms of catholicism that worships mary, angels, the apostles of Christ is completely demonic and is 100 percent idolatry! mary in the Greek means "rebellion." Look her name up in a Bible Concordance. Jesus never commanded His disciples to pray to mary. Jesus instead commanded His disciples to pray to His Father. No idolater will inherit the Kingdom of God, do not let yourself virgil be deceived. God loves you very much, and He desires for you not to be lead astray by man made traditions and doctrines of man. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

The only way a true Believer in Christ can learn about the Holy Spirit is only through the lens of scripture, any outside revelation that does not line up with God's Holy Word is not Biblical. We must be very meticulous to not be mislead outside of God's Holy Word. God's Holy Word is enough for all of His children, and anything outside of God's Holy Word is not from God. God's presence will never contradict His unadulterated Word: never! God loves you and be careful we are living in the last days!

Ask your Pastor, or his wife; if you can be baptized. Not all churches have baptismals; and perform them on Sundays. We did ours on Wednesdays, which was well attended and with a brief teaching on why be baptized.

You can actually be baptized in a swimming pool (it's not a party) as a solemn moment.

Call your church first. They will make the arrangements.

Manasseh was, according to the Book of Genesis, the first son of Joseph and Asenath ( Genesis 41:50-52). Asenath was an Egyptian woman whom the Pharaoh gave to Joseph as wife, and the daughter of Potipherah, a priest of On ( Genesis 41:50-52). Manasseh was born in Egypt before the arrival of the children of Israel from the land of Gershwin.

Machir was the son of Manasseh, grandson of Joseph, and father of Gilead. Joseph lived to see and to play a part in the up-bringing of Machir and his children.

In the Torah's account of the journey of the Israelites after the Exodus, Machir (the individual) is portrayed as conquering the territories known as Gilead and Bashan, which had previously been occupied by Amorites. Half of the tribe of Manasseh, those descended from Machir, are described as having settled in Gilead and Bashan, and consequently they were important in Gilead's history.

According to the Books of Samuel, Machir son of Ammiel was the name of a descendant of the Machir mentioned above, who resided at Lo-Debar. The text states that here he looked after Meribaal, the son of Jonathan, until David took over his care, and also looked after David himself, when David found himself a fugitive.
