    Proverbs 6:16-19

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Dinosaurs existed before the flood and to a lesser extent after the flood. The record found in fossils indicates that the present planetary ecosystem is incapable of producing and supporting large bodied reptiles and mammals.

Apparently, before Noah's flood destroyed the antediluvian ecosystem, the earth could produce large bodied long living reptiles that we call dinosaurs (a word which means a fearful or monstrous lizard). The word of God states that not only did all humans, except eight, were destroyed by the flood, but also the earth itself was wrecked ( Genesis 6:13).

The first possible mention of dinosaurs in the Bible is in Job 40. God, speaking directly to the patriarch Job, challenges him regarding a mysterious beast known as the Behemoth. Now behold the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox; See, now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly. He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. His bones are like tubes of bronze; his ribs are like bars of iron. ( Job 40:15 - 18, HBFV, see also verses 19 to 24)

The second possible reference to huge, now extinct dinosaurs is in Job 41. God, again speaking directly to Job, challenges him regarding his ability to catch or tame a creature referred to as Leviathan. Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, or hold down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a ring into his nose, or pierce his jaw with a gaff hook? . . .Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your maidens? . . . ( Job 41:1 - 2, 5, also see the rest of the chapter).

The third possible reference to these large reptiles is in Genesis 1:21 where it states that God created "great sea creatures." Many Scriptural scholars feel that these references are talking about the hippopotamus, crocodile, whale or other large known animal. Other scholars of a more scientific mind suggest that these verses are actually referencing dinosaurs.

Psalm 118 only has 29 verses. Are you thinking of Psalm 119? If so, what reference are you actually looking for?
  • T. Levis - In Reply on Psalms 118 - 1 year ago
Did you mean, Psalms 119:49-72 ?

Psalms 118, stops at verse 29,

It's believed king David wrote, Psalms 119, then:

Psalms 119:49 + 1Kings 9:5, Jeremiah 33:17, 1Kings 2:45, Psalms 132:11, Isaiah 16:5, Luke 1:32, David's throne to have an heir to reign forever, Jesus being that son of David.

    2Samuel 12:13

    Psalms 119:67,71, 2Samuel 12:14, 2Samuel 12:9-12,

Hi Phil, I have wondered about his myself. It is through Mary's lineage that Jesus is blood related to Judah (and also from David who came after Judah). Alex is correct in that maternal and baby blood do not mingle across the placenta, but it is thought that Mary contributed one set of chromosomes (DNA of David's lineage) and God provided the other set of chromosomes (the Y and other sets that compliment the set Mary supplied. Jesus was fully God and fully human. We know how DNA is transmitted in humans and Mary did that through her egg. But we do not really know how God provided the DNA for the other set of chromosomes that fertilized Mary's egg. Did He create a sperm to be implanted in Mary by a miracle done by the Holy Spirit so that Jesus was truly fully human? We really do not know. Since the Father is wholly Spirit, I don't think He possesses DNA of His own, since DNA is material, made of matter.

Also, Jesus qualified as being from Judah through Joseph because Joseph adopted Jesus as his own son.

    Virginia,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, we've also experienced a few bad neighbors over the years. It's never easy, and I hope it gets better for you soon. Although it is not easy, I would try to follow the scriptures below, and pray a lot.

    Matthew 5:43

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy."

    Matthew 5:44

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Prayers can be miraculous if your heart is in the right place.

    God Bless.

I believe God's 6th Commandment covers this issue of abortion/murder.

    Exodus 20:13

    "Thou shalt not kill."

    God Bless.

This is an interesting question that I have come across time and time again. What is the stance regarding Dinosaurs in the Bible? I have heard that they were mentioned in various OT books. I have never come across this myself. If Dinosaurs are mentioned in the OT, can someone please give me Book, Chapter, and Verse references?

Jesus has prophesied he will tell those who work iniquity to depart from him:

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:21-23

This appears to agree with Psalm 14:4

"Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD."

It appears there are two distinct groups of human beings:

    1. God's People (those being eaten up like bread)

    2. The workers of iniquity (those eating God's People up like bread)

    Dear Joe lee,

I was recently in a situation where this was brought up. My Mom died a few weeks ago. us ten siblings took turns in pairs each day to be with her in the hospital during visiting hours to care for her in ways the staff usually does not. We feed her and kept her company, etc. for the two weeks she was hospitalized before she died. On the first Monday of her hospitalization, my oldest sister, who was the power of attorney, said after we to get her to eat some food, "You know, the more we feed her the longer she lives."

Another time she said something to me about euthanizing her so she could not suffer. Int he end, she was still breathing on her own but was clearly dying. She was on oxygen and given morphine for that time when the doctors determined that her death was eminent. My sister, who was the power of attorney was there during her last hour. She took the oxygen off of her event though she was breathing on her own still. And then soon after that she stopped breathing.

My sister had the approach you suggested about offering an old person a shorter life to avoid suffering. I do not subscribe to this thinking. I think that God is the determiner of when we take our last breath and our heart beats its last beat, not us. believe that as long as one is alive (not through CPR or life support machines) we treat a person to uphold life, not death. I believe that one should take actions that alleviate one's suffering but not precipitate nor hasten death. End of life situations can be tricky due to modern medicine. My Mom had a living will that included her wishes for her end of life. She never said she wanted to be euthanized as she has always been against that due to her faith.

I wish I had Scriptures handy right now to give to you, but none come to mind right now. I just believe that the beginning of a life and the ending of a life are within the right of God and not man, and that we are to be for life, not death.

You have got a lot to learn. Before the Holy Spirit can teach you you must be born again.

2 Timothy 2:15 told you to rightly divide the word of truth, that is your problem.

Your divisions are wrong. See you at the judgment.

    Henry,

Matthew 6:9-13 gives us the principles of prayer. This is known as the "Lord's Prayer" theologically, but in reality it is called the Disciples Prayer because Jesus is teaching the disciples to pray. The real Lord's Prayer is found in John Chapter 17 where Jesus prayed in intercession for His people to the Father. That is the real Lord's Prayer. It is His prayer. This is the prayer for the Disciples in Matthew Chapter 6.

There is another version in Luke Chapter 11 Verses 2 through 4, but it is a different presentation from what we have here in Matthew. In Luke there are no Hebraisms because Luke's Gospel was written to the Gentiles.

For instance the first one is "Our Father, which art in heaven." Luke, even in the oldest manuscripts, it is just "Our Father." There is no phrase, in heaven.

So basically Jesus again taught the same principles, but one in Jewish form and one in Greek form. And so you can see that it was not used as a formula for reciting, where everybody gets up and we say the same prayer all the time every week. It is not a formula prayer! But there are principles that Jesus laid down to teach us. He says, you want to know how to pray? Here is what you do.

Is old age a punishment? and if so, wouldn't it make more sense to either let the aged have the choice of living an easier life but shorter or a longer life but less easy? Please keep in mind that this is only a question, and a thought.

    Elliott,

Although Paul was not married at the time he wrote his letters, he more than likely was married at one point. The bible does not mention a wife or what happened to her, whether she died or whatever the case might be, but we do know from Acts 26:10 that Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin because only the Sanhedrin were allowed to vote for the death penalty against Christians, and Paul voted (he gave his voice against them). It was also a strict requirement that a man had to be married in order to be a member of the Sanhedrin. So Paul would have had to be married at one time.

    Luke,

You not only strongly disagree with me, you strongly disagree with Jesus Christ, and everything else written in the Bible that doesn't agree with your extreme OSAS point of view.

    Revelation 20:12

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

I guess you also disagree with the above scripture - stating when the "Book of Life" is opened - the dead will be judged according to their works!

Jesus tells us point blank: Revelation 22:14 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

So, you are simply ignoring all of the scripture that I listed above, and the entire gospel of Jesus Christ, and you state you are going to heaven anyway.

Jesus, will be our Judge, we can't just ignore all of the scripture!

    God Bless.

Read the comment listed prior to this one as it does list a few named in the Bible. The greatest false prophet of all in the Bible that's still around today is the anti-Christ. He hasn't revealed himself yet but the power behind him is satan.

There are some others in the New Testament the same:

    Elymas ( Acts 13:6-12)

    Simon Magus ( Acts 8:9-24)
