If we then look at those aspects of God's Work in Romans 8:29,30, we see firstly, His Foreknowledge (a knowledge of all things past, present & future). Based on that knowledge, He predestined some to become His children (as His Son is & His adopted ones would be - Ephesians 1:5). Then God's Work upon us begins: those predestined are now called to come to Him/drawn to Him - John 6:44. Those whom He has called, God applied to them the outcome of the Cross, i.e. of Justification - the guilty declared not guilty by reason of substitutionary payment made on their behalf. And those so justified, have received glorification - in part now with the indwelling Holy Spirit (the "earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession" - our completed redemption & glorification fitted out for Heaven: Ephesians 1:14).
Then what part "does our faith in Christ Jesus do for us?" Those whom God has predestined, called, & justified, are those who would be blessed with the gift of Faith - Faith that is needed for God's Grace to do its mighty work ( Ephesians 2:8). What then is the Gift of God? It is both His Grace poured out upon us plus the Faith to apprehend it & fully rest in it. One might ask, 'Can such a person drawn of God resist Him?' I would reply with questions: 'Would God even draw one who wouldn't be saved? Would the one being drawn want to resist the Love of God in Christ & the Holy Spirit's Work of Conviction? And, even if barriers were set up by Satan to obstruct the passage of the sinner into eternal life, would not the God Who makes no mistakes, still bear upon the sinner that he might understand the Truth & find that his hope lay in Christ alone?' Do you guys believed in vain? Jesus died for us all. He did put Himself like a lamb in the slaughter. He shed His blood for us all sinners once and for all. Not any of animal sacrifices can forgive any human sins.
So any of you "do gooders" out there if you do not understand the wisdom and knowledge of what "not of yourselves lest any men should boast" means, I would highly suggest to pray and fast for the Holy Spirit to come in to your heart.
Remember you know you are saved when you forget about "yourself". You are a new man with Christ in You. It is no longer what you do. It is what God tells you what to do. How do you know? You will know because the Holy Spirit is in you. If you do not know, it means you test your Spirit. God has given you the most gracious gift you ever received in your entire life on earth. Would you take it or not? He gave you free will. It is the free gift from God. All you need to do is claim it through faith, by believing and trusting on What Jesus did on the cross-shedding His own blood to save you in order to have an everlasting life. And live in the Kingdom of God here on earth.
So get over yourself. We are nobody. We are all sinners. We need God. You cannot live without God's guidance. We are all servants of God. The good news is God knows what you need. Be saved!
Reading the entire Bible, I just can't imagine the magnitude of the righteousness of men over God where we have given superfluous examples of how the victory belongs to Israel if and when they trust, believe and have faith with the true King Jesus Christ. Since Cain was banished from the 'face(s) of the earth' and was hid(den) from the 'face of God' he was forced to seek a wife from another source. To say anything else would be at odds with the former statement.
God does not say one thing and then refute it by adding a statement contrary to the first. Therefore his wife did not come from the camp of Adam & Eve because he was banished by God.
From this it is only logical that his wife was from another camp. The only clue we are given is that the wife was an inhabitant of the land of Nod. This was not Adam's territory. Therefore she is not Adam's descendant.

Back in 1986, God prevented me from suicide.
I lived another 5 years without knowing Christ as my Savior.
I believe, had I died in 1986, I would been forever lost.
This is a hard question to answer sister, but I believe that God knows who

Does it seem reasonable that the Bible would stress faithful endurance if those who did not endure would be saved anyway?

THE Bible provides signs and events that will occur. They do not predict timing. Gods timing is not like man's.
The Thief comes not at noonday. He comes in the blackness of night. Sin thinks blackness of night covers it's deeds? Not so.
Let us go through the Bible and gather the signs Jesus gave us.

Some seem to have unusually negative emotional responses to the word "rapture" but the Bible clearly uses the words "caught up." So, those with animosity toward a particular word can just use whatever word or phrase to describe that event that they are comfortable with, but either way its the same event that 1 Thessalonians 4:17 describes. This verse is God's word and is true. Because God's Word says "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:" then that is true. Anything else people claim against God's Word by definition would then be false.
