    Dear Les,

Our members of congress are elected into office and do not play any priestly role in our society. The chief priests were appointed within the Sanhedrin (which is not Mosaic in origin-rather came about from the babylonian exile which also brought about the synagogues and rabbinic order). These chief priests were of the particular lineage of Levi through Aaron, who, only, could be priests from the tribe of Levi. The priests served in when they came of age in some capacity with the temple worship and ceremonies. The High priests or Chief priests were priests who were elevated to a position of authority and rank above the other priests. So, in these respects the chief priests were not like our members of Congress.

But, it is believed that there was much corruption among the Chief priests of Jesus' day. They also held political power (in a religious sense) in some way. So in this respect, they are similar to our members of Congress.

I'm not being irreverent. Jesus gave us lots of signs to keep watch for.

    The thief

    The Ten Virgins

    The Abomination of Desolation

Matthew 24, and Luke 21, Revelation

I keep my focus on what Jesus said. Trying to set dates can be confusing. Think of how many books have been written on the Rapture/Caught Up in the Clouds?

    Movies, TV Series, Tape Series

Why do we not DO what Jesus said to be doing?

Go ye__into your world, neighborhood, city, state, etc.

    Evangelize the lost

Be a missionary at World Challenge ministry

    Heal the Sick

    Raise the Dead (dead feelings)

Give to all who ask of you

    Grae,

Thank you for pointing me to that Scripture in Matthew. I know it well. I want to be able to hear the Lord say to me, "Well done, good and faithful servant." not so much for my reward, but that I can know that I honored God with my lifestyle as He so deserves. To Him be the glory always.

Thank you for your thoughts on my Mom's passing. She lived 88 1/2 years in this life. It was a life of financial poverty and hard work for her. She accepted the lot in life God chose for her. She now has eternity to be with Jesus and receive the riches of dwelling with Him without end. I am happy for her.

    Acts Chapter 19

13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

    Acts Chapter 13

7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

    Brother Don:

Man DOES NOT have free will.

Man was made to be a BODY; or a vessel.

Vessels, or bodies, have NO LIFE.

Bodies, or vessels, were made to HOLD the LIFE of GOD.

    God is Spirit.

    Spirit cannot be seen.

God created a BODY; Jesus Christ, that can be seen.

The body of Christ HOLDS the Life of the FATHER.

Christ came, as sinful flesh, and sinful flesh DIED on the cross, three days latter the Father resurrected, HIS (the father's) BODY, Christ.

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (Christ) ONLY hath immortality dwelling in the light .....

All mankind took part in that resurrection.

At some point in time God's creation will become the IMAGE (the body) of Christ.

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery .....Christ in you .....

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Christ in you) that worketh IN YOU (his body) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

1 Corinthians 15:38 For God GIVETH IT (his creation) A BODY as it hath PLEASED HIM, and to every SEED HIS OWN BODY ( the Father's body Christ).

HIS WILL, not man's free will, because man has NO LIFE outside of GOD, man is just the BODY of Christ (Life and Truth).

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye (his body) are gods, the children of the most high.

Psalms 136:2 O give thanks unto the GOD of gods (God's body) .....

Daniel 2:47 .....of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods ....

John 17:21 That they (the bodies) may ALL be ONE, as thou, Father are IN ME (the body), and I in thee, that they (all bodies) may be ONE IN US ....

Ephesians 4:4 ..... ONE BODY ....ONE SPIRIT .....

Ephesians 4:6 .... ONE GOD ....FATHER OF ALL ....above ALL ....through ALL ....and IN YOU ALL .....

Hosea 4:6 For my people are destroyed for lack of KNOWLEDGE: because thou has rejected KNOWLEDGE, I will also reject thee (his body) ......

Amos 3:3 Can TWO (the LIFE and the BODY) walk TOGETHER without being agreed?

    God Bless you, his body!

    Dear Doug, Grae and Gigi:

    Ephesians 6:20

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

    Ephesians Chapter 5

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

    Romans 1:18

    For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Crystal, I would ask you (or if you are asking about someone else)

If a person feels that strongly, why not give your life to Jesus and see what He will do with it?

He knows every circumstance that created the sorrow within a person. He can turn it around for good; if you can give it to Him.

I went through it. Death looked like a warm fluffy blanket to wrap myself in; not have to experience deep sorrow. Jesus pulled me out of that hole. Told me every day in the Bible, I was loved and accepted in the Beloved.

I was so lonely. I asked Him for new friends__Christians. My life was flooded with new friends. They took me to their Church. I was intrigued by the love they gave to all people. Even tearful me. I sang their songs as my life was healed. I switched from being a taker, and became a Giver.

Take the Lords hand and never look back.

See it's in the valleys of life, that the devil tries to keep us a prisoner. If you'll just climb up to the top of that valley, you'll see a new view. Light and possibilities.

Throw out all the things that remind you of the past.

We go from living for earthly life, to looking forward to eternity; with the Lover of our soul. He will lift you up.

Ephesians 6: your true enemies are invisible. Cast them into outer darkness, in the Name of Jesus; by His Power and Authority.

Satan wanted to take Jobs life but he couldn't. He does not have permission to do that. Only lies.
  • Be Encouraged Today and Trust in the Lord - In Reply on Ezekiel 33:12 - 1 year ago
I truly believe if we seek the Lord with all of our hearts and strength, we will have favor with the King of Kings. I saw that in the Book of Esther.

It was her destiny to save her people from execution.

She prepared to intercede by preparation for the Kings presence. That tells me it's not a matter of "works". It's about love for what the Lord loves. She didn't ask for anything for herself. She asked on behalf of.

Women are not lesser than a man. God formed Eve from one of Adams ribs. [in Texas we get excited about ribs]

She wasn't over Adams head, nor from his feet. She came from his side; near his heart. Just remember that, because it gets tested frequently. Women are more likely to praise and worship; and pray for favor over everyone in the house, community, and church.

If they don't do that; as it says in the Book of Acts: the ship breaks up and everyone grabs broken pieces of ship, to get to the shore alive on.

One of my favorite Paul stories: he's burning the wood to dry out and a deadly snake comes out of the fire and bites Paul. The other sailors eyes bug out waiting for Paul to fall over dead. He throws more wood on the fire.

God broke apart the ship, provided broken pieces (of our lives) to get to shore with. He made the wet wood to burn. And thena miracle!

It reminds me, of me. My life was a pile of lumber until the Lord put it back together. Not the same, but better.

Be encouraged because we are in the Will of God.
  • Don Rhyne on Romans 8 - 1 year ago
The only way I can slowly bring these two concepts together is God selected ( predestined) whole human race at creation to come unto Him and eventually to Christ, Romans 1:18-20. The human race has a bare knowledge of the existence of God based being created in His image. And later conformed to the image of His Son. Here is where " free will " comes into play, we can decide to believe and have faith in God and in Christ or not. God has built in to us the ability to know Him at creation but has also given us the " free will" to develop more knowledge or less knowledge of Him and Christ.

Thank you Grae, for pointing out that goodness is a virtue not a hinderance to our walk with Jesus by faith.Being a "do gooder" is not to be spoken of derogatorily, but we should be pleased with those who wish to honor God by imitating Jesus in our daily conduct.

It is good to hear from you, Grae. I have not read a post from you for a while.
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Romans 11 - 1 year ago
    Hi Ronnette.

You're right, we are saved by grace through faith,

I think here we are in the area of fruit barring and sanctification. When we are saved we have a new birth. We're baptized in the body of believers, We are now identified with Christ and given the Holyspirit, The old nature still exists, But we have a life giving spirit in us that produces fruit in our lives. When we are joined to Christ we will bare fruit. There are some more fruitful than others but if we're saved we all belongs to Christ. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13.

This new birth is inward, It's an action generated and comes from a new heart.

James 4:17. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

    God bless.

    Hello Jorge,

From what I have readd, Paul was his Roman name (being a Roman citizen) and Saul was his name. He went by both throughout his life, although in His writings (mostly to Gentiles in the Roman empire) he referred to himself as Paul. But in many parts of Acts, you can read him referred to by Luke as both Paul and Saul.

So, from what I have gathered, his name was not changed from Saul to Paul.
