Thanks Giannis. Very encouraging; It is comforting for me to meditate on the meaning of those words (truths) more consistently. Thank you Holy Spirit.

Mae In the epistle to the phillipians specifically 2:12 Paul writes second half work out your salvation or wholeness

or completeness[a constant changing from old man nature to new] with fear and trembling more accurately is respect

and awe. The work is in the renewed mind or all of Collossians chapter 3. Look at the number of times do and let are

used. We continue to do Gods Word putting it in our minds and acting thats letting God work by believing what He's

accomplished for us in Christ. Agapeo to you.

    Hi Chris

My opinion about 1 Corinthians 15:29 "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?"

My belief is that it talks about baptism in water in the name of Jesus. Be patient and I will explain myself.

Firstly lets read what the scripture says about baptism in water (what it really symbolizes)

    Colossians 2:12

"Buried with him (Jesus) in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

    Romans 6:3-7

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (Baptism in greek means immersion, submersion)

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For he that is dead is freed from sin."

One may argue that the above verses are not about baptism in water, but for me their is no doubt.

So Baptism in water symbolizes burial of our old sinful person in the grave (of the water tank) and the rising up (resurrection of) a new person ready to follow a new holly life, exactly like Jesus was burried after crucifixion and was raised up from the dead.

But if Jesus was never resurrected from the dead, baptism would be in the name of a dead Jesus, that is in the name of the dead/for the dead. Ther isn't any benefit for us in such a case. If Jesus was never resurrected, we are still in our sins and we have no eternal life.

Charles One point to keep in mind is that God in the book of exodus made the sabbath for man not man for the sabbath

long before any pope or other man. It was instituted as a day of rest worship and fellowship. In this day and time that

is the age of grace its 24-7 all the time via qalking by the spirit in fellowship with God.

    Adam, Thanks ! Got it.

I understand that by faith we are saved by grace and not by works..

Yet, to prove that we have faith in the blood atonement of Jesus Christ for us sinners, we have to obey God's will and one proof that we obey is our good works in accordance to His words/will. So, I think the two comes together ?
  • Adam - In Reply - 1 year ago
Hello, this is answered in Eph 2 and James 2.
  • Giannis - In Reply - 1 year ago
No, It isn't about predestination, dear John. God draws people to Jesus by showing to people Jesus' love for them by His sacrifice on the cross. But not everybody responds to His love. The ones that do, are given eternal life by Jesus.. GBU

Being saved by grace doesn't mean that good works don't count.

    Is this correct?
  • Charles Schile - 1 year ago
Did you know what it was pope Gregory that came up with the calendar that has Sunday on . He did that in 1582 . You can Google that. So how many verses support the first day of week as holy .Is there in the Bible ( the Bible GOD opinion ) What does Gen : chapter 2 say man started and keeped the first Sabbath or does it say that God the Father and The Word keeped it.

    Good Day All,

My comment is provoked for good to bring clarification, we ofttimes have made generalized statements as if they are a "truth of or about God, " but is not. Concerning dogs and all animals and creation the whole creation as we have after the Fall of Mankind is in a fallen state affected by the sin state of mankind and creation since mankind also was given dominion over all the care of the earth in general without listing all details here. With that said God is not hating on any of his creation but the state that it is in is separation from God (a sin state/fallen) and his intended purpose. So, animals are not in their correct state either so their is no permission that has been given of God to make pets of creatures from other kingdoms in the earth world, so there is no special claims on animals that God has chosen to domesticate this is something mankind has chosen to do right or wrong. I do not even think we were suppose to domesticate and take any specific animals for mankind's delight as pets as our main relationships were to be with God and one another/people some people erred in loving animals more. I think they can be helpful when trained as we have come to discover but as "Pets" God is not in that and just because man can find a good use for something does not make it "Approved of God and we really need to stop saying things in this manner because it is just not true. We say these things because it is what we want and we try to make ourselves feel better and get others to believe these things with us by trying to stamp them with God's approval and God is not and has not given us a stamp of approval on this kind of thinking and behaving in life. All mentions of "Dogs," in scripture are derogatory in meaning never anything of good for its use so I do believe that this is what we should say as well, until all creation have been redeemed and are made new again we are not to esteem anything in this world as desirable, good, or approved of God.

    Amen!

I believe in Jesus. I think a person needs to always pray for God's guidance. You are correct we must control ourselves from being taken by this world. We need to guard our heart.

    Thank you so much.

Susan, this is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I want to think of myself to be like a female version of David. It really takes a lot of effort though.
  • Mae - In Reply - 1 year ago
Bro David, precisely correct. that is amazing to know one great proof exact truth of God's words was evident in the words of the angels who addressed the men as men from Galilee because Judas was no longer among them.
  • Chris - In Reply - 1 year ago
Thank you for sharing again Ronnette. You've taken a different approach to this matter than I anticipated, and as you said, "ultimately, I have chosen to listen to God." I think this sentence sums up what you're writing in your recent responses.

To that of course, I can't argue; if one truly believes that they are led to believe what Scriptures are revealing on a matter, then one should be persuaded accordingly. Unfortunately, for me to reach that level, I must first seek to understand what the Scriptures are saying (e.g. on the twelfth apostle matter). If there are sufficient verses that bring clarity on it, then I don't seek any further 'inspiration', as nothing else is needed. If however, the Scriptures are not totally clear to me (e.g. 1 Corinthians 15:29, on the "baptism for the dead"), I may have a basic understanding of what the apostle is referring to, but in the absence of any further Scriptures on that event, I have to hold my thoughts & tongue to allow the Spirit to help me in my quest for His Interpretation. To date, the options on that verse remain unchanged for me, so I wait.

But on the Acts 1:26 matter, to my understanding, & hence belief, the matter is clear & settled from the many Scriptures given. Anyway, I think this subject is now closed with us, but thought to share how I approach, accept, & understand what God's Word says to me. Blessings.

If man was created in the image of God and you defile the man does that inturn that you wish harm upon God in your thinking hoping to injure and pierce a body that can be part of the lord's body.

These more than helped a lot. Thank you.

These are scary to envisage though... yet must be true because God does not lie.

The Book of Revelation, I think I should finish reading this one ahead.

    David Brother,

Is it true that Our Heavenly Father buried Moses secretly?
  • Mae - In Reply on Ephesians 5:26 - 1 year ago
Gianni, Amen ! This is really wonderful. Thank you because it reminds me, it is true that 1000 years for us is only 1 day for God.

Amen , how beautiful it is to think that God wants everyone to be saved.

    Richard S. Friday,

Thank you Richard. I got it. Yes Jesus obedience was really overwhelming , amazing... I couldn't convey with my own words. We Christians must indeed overcome fear. Practice strengthening faith. I always mention the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus when praying to the Father. Really trying my best sometimes to understand the SCRIPTURES.
  • Mae - In Reply on Ephesians 5:26 - 1 year ago
Thank you David. It indeed will really take a long while. What is really needed is for us to have the faith like the mustard seed. I am thinking of how hard it is to get a passing score to be with Jesus in eternity , a believer should endure all the tests and persecution! and most of all is to love even your enemy.

Thank you Doug. My big brother's name is Douglas.

I do believe your answer is true. I have read some scriptures sparingly . One of those were Jesus words saying " in my Father's house are many mansions , if it weren't so I would have told you , I got to prepare a place for you ... " This sounds so comforting and your answer to my question really adds up so beautifully. I think I need to read the Bible from beginning up to end.

God bless you Doug , and everyone here !

    Hello David,

I'm not saying that I agree that the two men were Moses and Elijah either as the scripture does not tell us who, other than "two men."

I'm not sure if I can agree that it was two angels either since it does not say angels. It is possible though that it was two angels. But with that, I would have to agree that it is possible that the two men were Moses and Elijah. But again, I cannot come to a conclusion one way or another.

And yes, Mark 12:25 says, "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

This tells me that there is no marriage in heaven. There is no male-female functions in heaven. We will be like the angels. We will not be angels, but like the angels.

Yes because God himself shall wipe their tears away. And we will get to sit with Jesus in his throne Rev. 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Seems above what we can comprehend, but it is what the Bible says.

The sons of God in Genesis 6 are the same sons of God in Job 1, 2, and 38 - angelic beings. They are referenced in the New Testament in 1 Peter 4, 2 Peter 2, and Jude.

I take it as men that were following(seeking) God. The daughters of men as those that were not following(seeking) God. Some read more into it.
