In the old testament I see "Son" of man, and "son" of man. Particularly in the book of Ezekiel. Often together in the same verse. What does it mean, or to whom is God speaking?

    (Part 3)

    Is Jesus Christ God?

Matthew 1:23 is the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 which reads, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, (God with us). How can that be if Jesus is not God? Matthew is presenting to us the fact that the birth of Christ fulfilled prophecy, which is Isaiah 7:14.

A virgin was conceived by the Holy Spirit. That's what Joseph came to understand. And when Joseph made that last final procedure of adopting Jesus by giving Him His name Jesus, Jesus Christ became the legal heir to the throne of David. That's when it became official. So it didn't come from Joseph. Even some Jews were expecting Messiah to come from a virgin. Very interesting!

    (Part 2)

    Is Jesus Christ God?

In Verse 2, it says Abraham begat Isaac. The word 'begat' means to generate or to produce. Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, and that's the cadence that goes through a Jewish genealogy. It's always through the man, not through the woman. So the men don't give birth to other people, they produce. Abraham produced Isaac, Isaac produced Jacob, and so on.

But down in Verse 16, it says, "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called the Christ." Do you see the term "of whom", and "of whom was born?" The Greek text says "Out of whom," and the word whom is feminine, not masculine. So the Jewish person is probably going to say okay, we're going Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, okay we got that, and then you see "of whom" and you would think it was Joseph right?

No, because the Messiah is not from Joseph. The Messiah is from Mary. So that opens up a question for the Jews which requires an explanation, and we have the explanation in Verses 18 through 25 which is the ancestry of the Christ explained. Notice in Verse 18 it says, now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise, or more literally "in this way," because he is explaining that little presentation in Verse 16 "from whom" or "of whom" and it is feminine.

So the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way, and by the way, the word birth in Verse 18 is the same Greek word genesis which means origin. The origin of Jesus Christ was in this way. Matthew is still not calling it a birth. He is calling it an origin.

And then we have Matthew 1:21. This is something that the Jews expected the Messiah to do. They expected Him to be the Savior-Messiah. This is the same thing they expected God to be, the Savior-Messiah. And this is who Jesus was.

    (Part 1)

    Is Jesus Christ God?

After reading through a post discussing who Jesus is and seeing that some believe He is a created being by God, some believe He is God, and some just say He is God's Son so He cannot be God Himself, I would just like to share my understanding on who Jesus is. First of all, a lot of the discussion has been centered on John Chapter 1 which I agree shows not only the deity of Jesus, but also shows that He is God manifested in the flesh. But what I would like to use instead is Matthew Chapter 1.

Matthew Chapter 1 can be broken into two sections, Verses 1 through 17 prove that Jesus Christ literally and legally fulfills the Abrahamic and Davidic covenant for the Jews. And then the second section, Matthew 1:18-25 gives us the ancestry of the Christ. The entire ancestry table is found in Matthew 1:1-17. The second section gives us the ancestry of the Christ explained. In simpler terms, these two sections would be called "The birth of Christ," and "The birth of Christ explained."

Matthew 1:1 would be the caption or title. It is entitled the ancestry, not the genealogy. The word for genealogy is not used in Verse 1. And there is a reason for that. The word for genealogy in the Greek text is GENEALOGIA. But the word used in Verse 1 is GENESIS, pronounced Gen-ay-sees, with the "G" sound as in Girl. The word "generation" in Verse 1 is the Greek word GENESIS. It is not the word for birth.

Matthew is purposely avoiding the word for birth. What Matthew is saying here is that this is the scroll of the origin of the Christ. Why is this important? Well, what Matthew is presenting here fits perfectly to what John said in John 1:14 that "The word became flesh and dwelt among us." You see, Jesus was not born. He became flesh. He has always been in existence. This is why Matthew avoids using the word for birth. He is presenting to us the origin of the Christ.

Jesus said if i be lifted up i will draw ALL men unto me....Thats y the New Covenant is ALL inclusive.... Isaiah 65 : 1 kjv...Thats y Isaiah is saying I was found of them that sought me not ( thats the world everybody ) I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me....( thats the world everybody )...weather we like it or not, He bought everyone of us with his blood ( that New Covenant ) ....Jesus was the farthest thing from Pauls mind but he saved him anyway...When he was least expecting it.

.....I will know them ALL but Isaiah saw this know them all as a knowledge that is gona cover this earth as the waters cover the seas....Which is an intimacy that is gonna result in a birth of Christ in every man....Thats y Jeremiah saw everymen with his hands on his loins as woman in travail and birth pains...We are all gonna birth a Baby Christ which is the H.G....The Children of PROMISE...I will know them all from the least to the greatest thus the Children of PROMISE THE H.G....The woman with Child....

Thats y he has to know us weather we like it or not....Simply b/c our old adamic nature is in rank with satan....God cd not care less what satan likes.

Do you believe in Predestination? That "we've already been chosen"? I find it hard to follow this path of thought. I mean what if I'm not? This is from John 10:29 NKJV "My father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand."

However, if you read the KJV you can maybe interpret this differently. "My Father, which gave THEM ME, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."

  • Being Disobedient to God - In Reply - 1 year ago
Eve ate of 1 of the 2 trees they were forbidden to eat. She chose the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Then she gave it to Adam to eat too. Maybe she wanted to be smarter than a talking serpent? Or was she jealous if God walked with Adam sometimes?

They disobeyed God.He had told them they would die. They did die spiritually. They had to leave the garden immediately. It was protected by an angel with a flaming sword. Why? Because if they had eaten of the Tree of Life they would have lived ETERNALLY as sinners.

So read the rest of their judgement: she would suffer in childbearing. Adam would have to toil every day on uncultivated ground, trying to grow their own food.

Also, Adam lost dominion over creation to Satan. Like we see in Job 1, Satan had partial permission to trouble peoples lives. It would continue until the day that Jesus was crucified on the CROSS as a human. He paid for the sins of mankind: Genesis to Revelation.

Evil in these last days of mankind is going to grow greater. Satan knows his time is short; so he will afflict All those who belong to Jesus. (He already has plans for the unsaved to suffer). He hates anybody who loves and believes in Jesus. Procrastination is going to be bad.

I mean, look at the news! Riots to kill babies, riots to get your teenagers sex switched to the other. The government is prostituting our kids futures. College will be ridiculous. Little kids are being sexualized in 1st grade.

We watch news; it's on there every day!

Meanwhile over in Israel the wagons are circling Jerusalem. Soon to be armed with nukes.

China and Russia are converting their currency into Gold only; heavy metals. The war on the American Dollar has started. In the end of days, there will be ONE WORLD money system. We better read those stories quick. Our Govt is saying nothing. We're are 30 trillion Dollars in Debt!

Benson Commentary on 1 John 4:1

Because the Gnostics and other heretics, in the first age, to gain the greater credit to their erroneous doctrines, assumed to themselves the character and authority of inspired teachers, John put his disciples in mind,

( 1 John 2:27) that they had an unction from the Holy Spirit, by which they were enabled to judge with certainty, both of teachers and of their doctrine. He therefore, in this chapter, commands them not to believe rashly every teacher who pretended to be inspired, but to try the inspiration by which any preacher professed to speak, whether it was from God or from evil spirits; that after trial they might know whom it was their duty to attend to, and whom they ought to disregard and reject. And to secure them, as far as possible, from being deceived, he especially desires them to consider whether the teacher, who came to them, pretending to inspiration, held the great and fundamental doctrines of the gospel, which all the teachers, really inspired of God, regularly and uniformly maintained. His words may be paraphrased as follows: Believe not every spirit - By which any teacher is, or professes to be, actuated: or, believe not every teacher who pretends to be inspired by the Spirit of God; but try the spirits - Namely, whether they are of God - By the rule which God hath given. We are to try all spirits by the written word: To the law and to the testimony! If any man speak not according to these, the spirit which actuates him is not of God. Because many false prophets Or false teachers; are gone forth into the world - With an intention to draw disciples after them.

[This is really relevant to these days we're living in. I had to run it by a commentary, but it's all good]

I'd like to hear this study and I think others do too. I did a study on why we need to focus on the founding principles of God's Grace and the doctrines thereof which belong not to any religion but are often accepted/rejected because of one of these (in context with your OP): Calvinism vs. Hyper-Calvinism vs. Arminianism. Long story short, these guys are long dead and majority of mainline denominations stand behind one or the other. Basically, we're giving honor to these 2 (Calvin & Arminius) years after death --- they would have loved that their false religions and misinterpretation of scriptures would be talked about hundreds of years after there death.

  • HOW WORDS MATTER - In Reply - 1 year ago
Someone once told me that anything that is not of Faith, is sin. Boy, did I ever start keeping watch on my words.

It feels grouchy at first, but when you hear words of Faith instead of Fears, it really changes you.

I had laser focus when I'd hear me precede a thought with, (example) "I'm Afraid it's hopeless", or

"It looks broken to me." I would say instead, "I'll get my tools and have a look at it."

That's all that Church grandma had to say to me. That word SIN stung my spirit. I'm grateful.

  • Isaiah 8_ I was reading this morning - 1 year ago
    i. Law and testimony each refer to God's word. We might say that law refers to God's holy commands, and testimony refers to His dealings with His people as recorded in His Word. But that may be slicing it too thin, because often similar terms for God's word are repeated, not for the sake of distinction, but for the sake of emphasis.

ii. How it needs to be proclaimed to our preachers today:

Enough with the over-use of anecdotes and jokes. Enough with the emphasis on entertainment and sappy stories. Enough with the catering to itching ears. Enough with the hobbyhorses and pet peeves. To the law and to the testimony.

iii. "Let us remember, as ministers of the Gospel, what M'Cheyne beautifully said; 'Depend upon it,' said he, 'it is God's Word not man's comment upon God's Word, that saves souls;' and I have marked, that if ever we have a conversion at any time, in ninety-nine cases out of a hundred, the conversion is rather traceable to the text, or to some Scripture quoted in the sermon, than to any trite or original saying by the preacher. It is God's Word that breaks the fetters and sets the prisoner free, it is God's Word instrumentally that saves souls, and therefore let us bring everything to the touchstone." (Spurgeon)

    c. If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them: If there is a disagreement between God's word and the word of the messenger, it isn't hard to figure out who is wrong. The messenger is wrong. The word judges the messenger; the messenger doesn't judge the word.

    d. They will be driven into darkness: When they forsake God's word and trust in mediums and wizards and the dead, they are courting darkness, not light.

Bind up the testimony,Seal the law among my disciples. And I will wait on the LORD,Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; And I will hope in Him.Here am I and the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel From the LORD of hosts,

    Who dwells in MT Zion.

  • Adam and Eve and the Tree of the Knowlege of Good and Evil - In Reply - 1 year ago
Eve ate of the tree of the Knowlege of Good and Evil. Then she gave to Adam to eat, and he did.

Adam now had a sin consciousnes. He also lost his Dominion on the earth. Satan took a serpents body to deceive Eve into doing it.

Humanity waited until Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. Jesus set aside his powers to be born HUMAN; all God and all human.

The reason being that EARTH WAS CREATED FOR HUMANS.

Skip up to the cross Jesus was crucified on, at no time did Satan think he'd not win. He did not know the Godhead's plan ( Romans 1:20). As a human, being crucified for the sins of all mankind that has or ever will live__Jesus fulfilled a prophesy made in Genesis 3:15. Jesus's death crushed Satans head (power). Satan was shocked when Jesus was resurrected on that 3rd day.

His only way to get back at Jesus is by hurting people Jesus died for; all people. If we are born again, as in John 3:5-7 and John 3:18

Jesus paid it all. All we have to do is believe it, accept it and pray for salvation.

In ancient Israel, God told them not to intermarry with infidels; unbelievers. The reason is one mate may forbid the other to attend Church; or force them to attend a non-Christian church.

Race isn't the issue as long as both persons are Believers; as in Christians. Who honor God in the home and in their Church. Teaching their children about God and Jesus.

    Deuteronomy 11:19

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

    Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed (children) may live.

14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

    15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

    17 But if thine heart TURN AWAY, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy SEED (children) may live.

this means Adam and Eve were always mortal right?

Adam and Eve tried to use vegatation to cover their sins , God provided animal skins , Cain offered vegatation as his sacrifice and it wasn't acceptable to God , Abel offered some kind of blood / animal sacrifice and it was acceptable . C the connection ? Blood is needed to make atonement for sin .

Hello Trevor. If you're looking for a reference to the resurrection of Jesus in the Old Testament, the one that readily comes to mind is Psalm 16:8-11.

One could easily interpret this only to the Psalmist David speaking about himself but we can see that, in the Spirit, David speaks about One Who would fulfil these verses perfectly (particularly verse 10). Even the Apostle Peter made reference to this Psalm (in Acts 2:25-33) in his great sermon at Pentecost. And using Psalm 16, Peter refers this to Jesus Christ, and shows that the patriarch David has long been dead & buried, with his tomb still present. But the grave could not hold Jesus, nor did His Body see corruption (deterioration), but God had raised His Son back to life & back to Himself seated at His right Hand.

Dear "Tonisha Manning", there is a part and define in the word fear. It doesn't have to come from the Lord exactly, but we must fear Him. And fear He is right. (Who are we to command the Lord God)? Genesis 6:2

We can also fear When something happens to us, for example. We startle when we fall and then deep down we are afraid of breaking our arms and legs.

Some people are very afraid of themselves, they fear most things will happen to them. It is probably a spiritual thing that can be driven out with prayer and fasting. That fear can perhaps be said to be from the Lord because He also has helpers to get us onto the right path.

Stay strong in the word og God and He bless u and yours, love u in Christ.
