It's not really fair to judge someone based on the definition of a name given before or at time of birth, before the person defines who they, themselves are by their life, actions, achievements etc. 1Chronicles 4:9-10, Genesis 10:25, Genesis 35:18, Neither is it Justice to define anyone by a name because someone has the same name. Please read these scriptures: 1Samuel 2:3, Genesis 25:25,26, Genesis 29:32, yet not exactly true, because Genesis 29:33, contadicts the previous name. Following Genesis 29:34,35,

Sometimes people live up to names given, is it because they've been called so? Genesis 27:36,

However sometimes a name is earned: Genesis 25:30, Genesis 30:13, Revelation 11:8, Revelation 12:9, Revelation 19:13, Revelation 17:14

Many times people in the Bible share name, yet are completely different. Especially 1611 KJV, on this site. Examples today many people have name like Jesus pronunciation different are not even close, or Angels names, that are far from. We should be careful to not be deceived even evil can appear as light, likewise many names have been made to deceive. 2Corinthians 11:13,14

There are divine names given by GOD however, those maybe we should take more notice of, :

    Genesis 16:11,12, Genesis 11:29, + Genesis 17:5,15,19, Genesis 32:28, Genesis 35:10, Revelation 19:11,

Thanks for your question, for it did remind me of that. Genesis 5:2,

Hopefully these are helpful & give you intrigue into deeper study of names with scripture & reading GOD's WORD

    Wisdom: Yes,

The Bible gives us examples to help direct us, I believe. 1Samuel 18:10,11, 1 Samuel 19:7,9,10, 1Samuel 27:1,2, if someone is physically harming you, dangerous it's wisdom to get away. David forgave, but had to wisely stay away from Saul. Please read all of 1Samuel to know the more complete story.

Judges 16:4-21, Samson keep forgiving it appears & forgetting. Didn't seem wise. Delilah kept betraying Samson.

Many more stories of fleeing evil, Matthew 10:23, Mark 13:14, 1Timothy 6:3-12, all those & these, flee, 1Corinthian 6:18,

    But don't fear, James 4:7,

    Vengeance is GOD's

    Romans 12:17-21,

Hopefully these are helpful to your situation

Chris If the adversary would have known what the true God was going to do

At pentecost He would not have crucified Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 2:8 that

Was the mystery of Gods Wisdom. What happened on pentecost was not

Written in scrolls at that time because it was hid in God. Satan knew of the

Messiah to come but he did not know that the power that Jesus Christ walked

In would be given to us who believe. The age of Grace the church Of God was

Hidden. See Satan knows scripture but at the time of Jesus Christ there was

Not a new testament only old. Also Jesus Christ said the prince of the world cometh in whom I have nothing to do with and He always did and stated the

Father's will. That's why steal kill destroy or olive and have it more abundantly.

  • Luke - The TEMPLE TANTRUM - 1 year ago
    The CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE

    Christian Disciplines / by Oliver

There are four accounts of the story of Jesus and the money changers, one occurs in Matthew 21:12-13, the second is Mark 11:15-19, and the third account is in Luke 19:45-48, and the fourth in John 2:13-22.

All four of these accounts although they are written by different people, but all communicate the story in a similar way

The story begins with Jesus entering the temple and being upset with what is going on in the temple he overturns tables and drives out those who are buying and selling.

    In the temple courts he [Jesus] found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle;

he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, 'Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a market!'

What upset Jesus was the money changers who were cheating people at the temple. Cheating people is wrong but at the location of the temple upset Jesus since this place was set apart for the presence of God

Because each of these accounts was written by different people each one shows a different perspective on the situation that is happening. Matthew, Mark, and Luke quote Jesus as saying

"He said to them, 'It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you make it a den of robbers.' Matthew 21:13

John quotes Jesus differently saying instead Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2:16,19

This does not mean that any author wrote the story down wrong but instead, John is bringing a different perspective.
  • Luke - The Temple Tantrum/Righteous Anger - 1 year ago
Righteous Anger / Christian Disciplines / by Oliver

Many people are surprised that Jesus showed anger in this way, although Jesus was very patient and taught to turn the other check, there is also a time for righteous anger, and Jesus demonstrated this against the money changers.

There are times when you are wronged and get to turn the other cheek, but there are also moments when you see an injustice in the world and we as Christians can fight against it.

Jesus was upset with those using the Temple, his father's house, to cheat people.

In today's world, we see injustices like human trafficking or abuse. We know these occurrences are wrong and go against what the Bible says, this gives us the opportunity to fight against these injustices.

Jesus is perfect, he never sinned. He was not sinning when he was angry in the Temple. We see Jesus as an example of righteous anger.

In your anger do not sin.

Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

  • Luke - Titus 3:9 Scripture out of context - 1 year ago
Taking a verse out of context generally gets dicey when the motivation is to manipulate the Scripture to say what we want it to say.

For example, Titus 3:9 tell us to avoid settling disputes, and quarreling about genealogies, by involving (lawyers) for they are unprofitable and vain.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions/quarreling, and strivings about the law/Lawyers; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Chris. P.S. It's. Interesting that's you say ordinarily I'll explain years ago just

Getting into God's Word I went to hear a supposedly evangelist share and he was

Good until he told the story of a missionary couple doing God's work that had a

Child and to teach them a lesson God took or killed the baby! On leaving you

Shake hands with the guest speaker and I said to him I don't believe your story

About The true God taking life because it goes against all logic and common

Sense and is confusing. All those traits are in enemies realm and leaves a person in a state of question the true God doesn't work in that category. Thanks God

    Bless

Chris. It's amazing how we take one incident in scripture and elevate it

When in the gospels all devil or evil spirits were cast out by Jesus Christ

Who always did the father's will. Also the secret of our enemy is the secrecy

Of how he functions always steal kill and destroy. Keep something in mind

The translated didn't always get it right. God is not a puppet master and we

Aren't an experiment. Keeping it simple and no confusion the true God builds

Up and adversary tears down. The first one works by organization the other

Total manipulation. I'll go with what Jesus Christ said steal kill and destroy.

It is interesting that the apostle Paul told the Corinthians to hand over a fellow

Believer who was checked out to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so

Let him go back into the world run by the adversary who destroys. I see where

Satan has done a good job of getting God blamed for His Work. I'm done on this

    Subject God Bless.

    Hi Paul.

    Thanks for responding.

We will do a thread on the discrepancy "meaning the differences between Mormons Theology and Christianity. Also the Bible and the book of Mormons for clarity and educational purposes.

Let's not get into topics like polygamy perhaps until we're towards the end or perhaps not at all. I don't want to make this a battlefield. Besides I'm not sure that Mormons truly practice this at-large today. However we may need to explain the origin of it. "Separately, maybe towards the end ".

I am a Christian, and I am no scholar.

I've done very little research on the Mormons.

May I ask, are you a Mormon?
  • Henry - In Reply - 1 year ago
Chris. The true God does have a lid or control over the adversary but that is

Not saying or implying that He uses that authority for His purpose. That is

Saying The true God manipulates and we are puppets no way. God knows

That His arch enemy will steal kill and destroy as much as possible knowing

His time is limited. Saul became possessed because he opened the door

(In the mind) when he disobeyed a direct order from Samuel the prophet and

That's when Saul's calamity started. It is a error in translation evil spirit from

The lord because eventually a man chosen by God goes to see a witch for

Spiritual help that is out there and tells you how full of fear he was and especially

Of David who was God's new choice for King. In the case of Jesus Christ it

Was His calling to die for mankind, so he knew everything that was going to

Be done and by whom! He knew all of mankind's troubles were a direct result

Of the devil or Satan. Again emphatically the True God does not use or

Manipulate Satan to do His will but he does know how he functions and His

Goal. If what you say is true we are in God's little experiment absolutely not

True, we wrestle against the rulersof the darkness of this world. People want

To believe in God's purity and goodness so how can pure love manipulate evil

It doesn't make spiritual sense therefore not true. I'm moving on God Bless!

My mother in law had a daughter born with down's syndrome and a religious

Person told her one day the daughter was like that because of her mother's sin

Sins that's, a sick statement because the love of God thinketh no evil, 1 Cor. 13.

    I'm thankful I don't think that negative.

Thankyou to everyone who replied to me about this , it is a tough one to answer clearly and definatively I think . Honestly I don't really believe in what many people would call evil spirits , of course there can be confusion about this if we don't always define what we mean exactly about the words we use . Words mean different things to different people . I definately believe that some people are just mentally ill , due to their traumatic life experiences or due to chemical imbalances or to genetics and none of these things are their fault . For me , it seems that the more worldly some one is the less Christian they seem to be . The things of this world don't have much to do with God or Jesus , materialism , sensual satisfaction , no boundaries in behaviour , no thoughts about why and how we ( this whole earth ) got to be in existence , living only to satisfy themselves and there own desires on that particular day , a deep love of science and technology almost to obsession levels , thinking that humans are the be all and end all of everything , which is a trait of atheists I think . It seems to me that some people are just so full of this world that there's just no room in them for God or Jesus . Of course satan is referred to as the prince of this world . Any way , for me , to know where goodness and truth are , is the main thing and they can only be found with God and Jesus , this i know for sure . I shall be sticking with them and trying not to gaze at the distractions of this world for too long or too often . Thanks again for all the replies , I read and enjoyed them all and took some knowledge from each of them , much appreciated .

Peter , has been on the mountain. He has been called, He has been chosen! If you are a sceptic, and find yourself questioning Peter's motives, you may not begin to fathom His calling and His prophecy.

The pure knowledge given to those who hear the words of Christ, Peter once again in this second epistle wants to stir up your mind. He wants you to get thinking!

This prophecy comes not by mans will. Not by some conjured up man made , higher education, self pronounced know it all!

No, this prophecy would come from Holy men of God, who's speaking and words ,would be the movement of the Holy Ghost.

A movement the sceptic could never understand, nor will He!

Peter speaks with clarity, If I where to write it all, some would fall asleep! So listen up, this is the truth that even the sceptic will understand.

That in the last days, there will be false prophets, false teachers, bringing in heresies, even denying Christ, who has bought them!

With all the history provided in the scriptura, man refuses to see the judgment that is coming!

Even with the evidence of a great flood, our God has promised He would never again use the flood water, but would use fire!

In this 2nd book, written with only three chapters. The 3rd chapter, the tenth verse, He gets right to the point!

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

With the advent of technology, we find ourselves left outside, without a key. The key that will save mankind, a key given to the church, who is unable to find it! The church has lost its keys, the keys to pronounce the forgiveness of sin through the Lord Jesus Christ!

    Repent and be Baptized
