    Agreed, T. Levi,

It is a wonderful time to consider Jesus and share the gospel with others. We should never tire of hearing of His coming into the world for us to be with us even as we should never tire of hearing of His sacrifice for us and of His triumphal resurrection.

When the world provides such "open doors" for being more receptive to the Gospel message, we should act on it and happily so. I do not think we should celebrate with Christmas any pagan rituals or practices as was done by the pagans did when they celebrated the Solstice and Saturnalia. But just like we decorate our home with various elements in other seasons, there is really nothing inherently wrong with decorating with lights, a tree, greenery or other types of decor as long as we do not seeing it as signifying the pagan ideas that pagans have used such things for. They do not "own" the meaning of lights, greenery, etc. We can have them mean whatever we wish them to mean. God made the light and the greens. We can use them for His glory.

And, the opportunity to get together with family and friends really is precious in this busy life. And including those in our gathering that do not get out and about much or have many visitors makes their holidays brighter.

Yes, this is a wonderful account of Ruth and Naomi's relationship and the blessing of becoming a wife to Boaz.

It most likely was Naomi's believing example that impacted Ruth to turn to YHWH, but we do not know if Naomi's sons, husbands of Ruth and Orpah, who also may have modeled and taught faith in YHWH to their wives also. The text does not say so, but it is likely that Naomi was used by God in their faith journeys also.

Hannah, since your dad us a believer and a pastor at that, he is your spiritual head. I recommend that you ask him first off to show you the Scripture that speaks to your question and also to explain things to you how he understands the end times. Then, I recommend y9uo come back here and ask for further clarification if needed. May God bless your sincere inquiries with understanding and wisdom.

    Hi Anthony.

Thanks for your breakdown of Luke 18:8. However I was just pulling out one word out of the text and that word is "Speedily". My attempt was to show this is the word used in Revelation 1:1 when you used that verse and presented it as a time line.

    Quoting you:

So, we see the timing being set for what is to be written to the seven churches, End quote.

My argument is shortly doesn't present an Era.

The word Speedily in Luke 18:8 is the same word used in Revelation 1:1 also in many other places in scripture.

The way you interpreted the scripture in Luke using word speedily/shortly is the same way you should interpret it in Revelation 1:1.

    You stated;

"God is seen to delay UNTIL THE TIME COMES when he will avenge his people AT WHICH TIME HE WILL "THEN" ACT SPEEDILY. end quote.

In Revelation 1:1 it's used the same way

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must Speedily come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

This presents something to happen fast when the time comes.

You asked why do I believe the 7 Churches in Revelation represent the complete Church throughout history?

Anthony I disclosed that in my earlier post and gave my reasoning.

I also said Revelation 1:19 outlines the book and that outline is explained in my post.

I said he who has an ear speaks to all!

    You said "no it don't."

I said Revelation 1:3 presents the coming events as prophesy .

    You said "no it don't."

This can go on and on.

It surprises me you never heard of this view considering you opened the thread with this-

"Some people believe that in Rev 3:10 Jesus is saying that if we believe in him that he will protect us from the great tribulation and they use this to support the notion that the rapture will happen before the great tribulation."

Also considering this is a widely held view.

    I have one more post.

    Give me a minute.

    God bless.

  • Portia Kirkland on Ruth 3 - 1 year ago
My comment: This is a beaitiful story of faithfullnes and obedience at a time, knowing that Ruth is a gentile yet a virtuous woman of God that was also loyal to Naomi. Ruth evidently learned of the true God thru her mother-in-law, and trusted what she tells Ruth. The story ended well with them all, including Boaz who followed their cultural tradition.

Hello Stephen, thank you for your comment.

It's important to read Luke 18:8 in it's proper context. The context for v8 is given in v7.

God is seen to delay until the time comes when he will avenge his people at which time he will then act speedily. This will happen when Jesus returns, at which time, he will send His angels to gather his elect on the very same day that he will pour out his wrath on the unbelievers.

It will be just like it was when God sent his angels to rescue Lot before pouring out his wrath on Sodom. The angels removed Lot from Sodom on the very same day that God poured out his wrath on Sodom.

Please tell me why you believe the 7 Churches in Revelation represent the complete Church throughout history?

The text makes no such claim and to say that it does is to misrepresent what Christ has said.

So, I'm interested to know where you sourced this erroneous belief.

PS Revelation 1:19, doesn't give the chronological order of the book of Revelation, because in the very first chapter we see that Revelation 1:7 points to the return of Jesus Christ which is an example of how Revelation is not written in strict chronological order.

As Christians, the doctrine we hold must stand up to biblical scrutiny and must be provable from the scriptures otherwise we risk

    being deceived by false doctrine.

I look forward to your reply.

  • Levi - In Reply - 1 year ago
It's talking about the unpardonable sin, Luke 12:10 ,, after receiving the FULL knowledge of THE TRUTH, and when you know the false christ comes first,,, but, since many differ on this and that, and on what this sin is, I'll just say that this sin cannot happen until the great tribulation begins; when God's elect are delivered up unto the synagogue's of Satan and THEN willfully sin by refusing The Holy Spirit to speak through them. because THAt DAy draws near.

In verse 27, the looking for, means the (expecting) of the Judgement and fiery indignation, about to devour the adversaries.

    Hope this helps!

Wes gave a wise answer on Christmas. Exodus 23:8, Deuteronomy 16:19, Ecclesiastes 7:7, may The HOLY Spirit teach us. John 14:26

I love to celebrate Christmas, I really enjoy the lights, the focus on our Savior. The generosity in the season. Christmas is a time of year, people remember more their fellow man, needs & wants of others. Christmas time reminds us of the joys of giving & putting smiles on others faces, teaching by love & kindnesses. Surprising a person with anonymous unexpected gifts, giving hope to people in desperation, food, clothing, volunteering, etc. warms their hearts, body & soul & sometimes gives them hope for a better ' tomorrow '. Christmas is the time of year people are more willing to receive from a Christian.....

We as Believers have an open door at Christmas unlike any other time of the year, to show the World who Jesus is, who the Church is.

When we remember those most "forgotten by others" showing them, they are not forgotten by GOD, it's amazing how even those around them are affected.

    Deuteronomy 15:7, Job 5:16, Proverbs 19:4, Psalms 69:33, Proverbs 14:21, 2Corinthians 9:9, Psalms 68:10, Galatians 2:10, Romans 15:26, Psalms 40:17, Proverbs 22:2, Psalms 41:1, Luke 14:13, Psalms 74:21, Proverbs 29:7, Proverbs 28:27, Psalms 112:9, Psalms 82:3, Daniel 4:27, Proverbs 21:13, Proverbs 31:10,20, context Proverbs 31, Proverbs 19:17, Proverbs 19:7, Luke 4:18, Matthew 11:5, Mark 10:21,

    Proverbs 19:6, Esther 9:22, James 1:27,

This Christmas season we really have a moment to help comfort, our nations with love, giving hope through the WORD, to poor in spirit & helping heal wounds. There is much we can give this year, for those in need. I pray GOD lead us even now, to start the giving season early. Romans 6:23, 2Corinthians 1:4, Proverbs 15:23,

    Psalms 31:24, Ecclesiastes 3:1,

Can someone explain Hebrews 10:26-27. Reading it makes me question if you can't be forgiven for past sin, while we are told that if we confess our sins we will be forgiven. I'm a tad confused.

    Thank you.

As with Psalm 3; we see David in a time of distress; as well as knowing how to rest in the Lord (verse 4 and 8). Verse 5 seems to indicate a similar stance to Psalm 51 in terms of a "broken and contrite spirit" as a proper attitude of worship. 2 Samuel 16:5-14 shows Shimei cursing David. This among other experiences of his enemies could result in the sentiments in verse 6.

We could also see the concept of election in verse 3 where "God sets apart him that is godly for himself."... The contrast of God's people and his enemies is seen throughout not just Psalms but all scriptures. As with the rest of the Bible David shows patience and kindness towards his enemies; patiently enduring Saul's 21 attempts to kill him; as well as the above example with Shimei. Other enemies God uses to chastise him eventually in some cases are dealt with by Solomon when they step out of line ( 1 Kings 2:29). Absolom also had to be dealt with; but David was grieved at his death (he had to congratulate the armies of Israel or they may have been disgraced so he had to compose himself after the event).

Whether it was his own sin (such as the Bathsheeba incident; or taking the census for the wrong reasons) or those where he was innocently targeted (such as with the madman Saul); David knew how to seek God; or at least listened to the voice of the prophet Nathan. Probably the emphasis of him being a "man after God's own heart" ( 1 Samuel 13:14) was that he never forgot his humble beginnings as a shephard (see Psalm 23). Solomon; sadly got caught up in accumulating many things and ignored God's clear warnings; hence he was the last great King to rule over both houses of Israel before the Kingdom was rent and went into exile. Nonetheless; the lineage of the Messiah would be fulfilled.
