And a side note: I don't understand what your 'Paul's theology' reference is. Paul (then Saul), was devout Pharisee, a Jew of the Jews, believing he obeyed every Law. He hated Jesus & His followers & put many to death. He received a revelation from Heaven that would shake his being to the core. (Acts 9:3-7). What was that revelation? That this Jesus Whom he persecuted (i.e. against his followers) was alive from the dead & speaking to him from Heaven. So Paul's letters to the Churches were not from his own private thoughts & interpretations; He was a strict Pharisee would couldn't divert from the Law - not until He met the risen Christ, the fulfilment of that Law.

    b. Matthew 5:17-19. Another clear Scripture showing that the Law was good but people, as sinners, could never keep it. So Jesus said that He came to fulfil the Law, not to destroy it. What do you make of that statement? Remembering that Jesus' coming was still in the period of the Old Covenant (i.e. of Law), so He could speak of the worth of the Law (v 19), but also to say (v 20), that "on top of it, your righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees (who were known to be sticklers for the Law plus adding many of their own)". Was this possible? Jesus knew that man could never gain acceptance to Heaven based on the obedience of the Law; so He said that He came to fulfil the Law. So how did He fulfil the Law? I'll let you give me your answer.

    c. I will leave off quoting the Pauline epistles, as you have turned your ear against them & the other epistles. But you ask: "But is it really true that the death of Jesus on the cross is the only way of salvation?" Have a look at John 14:6; 10:11-18; Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; John 6:33. All these passages speak of Jesus laying down His Life. But I hear you say that they don't have the words "way of salvation". Then it would show that you do not really want to understand Jesus' prime purpose of coming; all these verses show that He came to die so that man might have a new life in Heaven & not go to Hell.

Yasser, your comments are interesting to the point that it has me guessing as to your religious position. If you are part of the other two monotheistic faiths, I can understand your questions. But if you are of a Christian background, then please say so, as you seem to have knowledge of the Scriptures, but you appear to contradict everything that God had planned & set in motion from beginning of time to the coming of His Christ.

However, I will answer your last comment to me, but not quoting from the Epistles.

    a. Mark 10:17-19. The man obviously obeyed all the Ten Commandments & Jesus was pleased about that. However, Jesus knew that the man actually trusted in his wealth more than God (v 24). So what is Jesus telling him here? The bottom line was that he actually broke the first Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". This man probably didn't have idols in his house, but his love & trust in his wealth proved otherwise. One reason for giving the Law to Israel was to show them that they could never obey it fully. This is a reason why the Jewish leaders hated Jesus so much: He exposed their sin (i.e. outwardly they showed obedience & piety, but inwardly they were wicked - they could fool the people, but couldn't fool God with their hypocrisy).

Following on my 1st response, Joshua. The JW also point out that Christ is a "a Son", John 3:16, 1 John 4:10. They see Him as a created being Hebrews 2:17. But they miss the point. Philippians 2:9 says Jesus was exalted, elevated to a higher position, promoted. But do these all miss the meaning of what is said? Is there a difference between Jesus the Son of Man, and Christ the Eternal Preexisting God, Creator of all things, Colossians 1:16.

It is that distinction that many fail to see. The Coptic Manuscript should not be taken on its own. It might be the oldest, but that doesn't mean it is correct. Taken in context is is clear the import is The Word IS God, 2 Peter 1:3. He is Devine.

  • CARLOS RAMIREZ TREVINO - in Reply on Colossians 1
This is a good discussion topic, Joshua. The Jehova's Witnesses use the oldest translation, which is from a piece of a Coptic Manuscript that says in John 1 that "the Word is A God". They also believe the reference in Colossians 1:15 that Christ is "the firstborn of all creation", means Christ was created by God, just like the Angels.

There are statements in the Bible that cast doubt on the Deity of Christ as existing always as God. That is why a study of Systematic Theology is so important for our understanding of Scripture. Peter said that what Paul says is Scripture. But some people misunderstand it, 2 Peter 3:16. Proverbs 8 says, "He was the first of creation". So which is it?

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Jose,To imply that we do not have God's revelation, but instead a corruption of text,is to diminish the power of God to maintain his word.God is not and has never been"long ago and far away",and has revealed who would lie about him and his word.Just like salvation, either you have it now or you don't.Uncertainties about God's word, are most often uncertainties about God himself as Savior.

Bob Hilt, Peter is illiterate so how could he write a book?.....The most probable cause that Peter had a book is that Paul wrote those books to nullify his claim and serve as a badge of his apostleship.....Now, in Acts 22:9 Paul claims that when he spoke to Jesus, those traveling with him "saw the light," but "they heard not the voice." While in Acts 9:7 those who were with Paul are claimed to have "stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man."....Can you see his lies now?...

First I would like to thank God almighty who holds the keys to life and death. If you have surrender to God and know that his word is never void ,that he is a merciful God, what you are calling the new normal is nothing to fear. God will always see us through. Trust and believe God's Mercy,Psalms 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God,whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me.

CHRIS IT NOT FOR ME TO KNOW WHETHER YOU WERE PREDESTINED OR NOT.THAT,S BETWEEN GOD AND YOU.And I believe GOD was aware of everything you do before you do it. Ecclesiastes 11:5 says as you do not know what is the way of the wind,Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child,So you do not know the works of GOD who makes everything. You see I believe it,s GOD and Me, GOD and you, GOD and every individual right on up the line.Every relationship with GOD is personal.I,m reminded of what Peter asked JESUS and the answer JESUS gave him in John21:21&22.Don,t worry about the other man ,you follow Him.talking about tracts, stumbling past buildings going through crisis may all be true if GOD chooses to use it.JESUS told Nicodemus, you must be born again.WE must be born again to be able to enter into His Kingdom John 3:8 read.I believe at the appointed time-----those that GOD has chosen will acknowledge Him (JESUS)as LORD and SAVIOR to the GLORY of GOD the FATHER.(Philippians 2:11)What did Paul do, did he have any tracts to read? What did the thief on the cross do,past by a church and felt guilty for not going to church/No it was the appointed time.GOD used JESUS to accomplish salvation for the lost sheep.A free gift from GOD.What do you have to do if something is free/I say treasure it .Ephesians 2:8&9 GOD Bless.

My phone just croaked. Talk of this later.

YOU please back up in Acts chapter 9:3-16. I hope you have red letter edition. Jesus was speaking in verses 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16.

Verse 15: Paul is a chosen vessel unto ME, to bear MY name...

Jesus audibly spoke because several people heard it; verse 7

You may as well give this up now. Jesus spoke. Paul was CHOSEN.
  • Mishael on DOG SPIRITS on Deuteronomy 24:4
    Philippians 3:2 and Revelation 22:15

Beware of dogs (Galatians 5:15), beware of evil workers, beware of the concision (Romans 2:28)

    Revelation 22:14-15.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates Into the city.

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

You have to stop and ponder on what real dogs do. Their noses are always where they shouldn't be, etc.

It's stunning to ponder. I've worked with people like that. Run in packs; respect nothing; have to be the king of the pack.

    I said it was brutal.

A spirit is a demon; dog spirit.

    Yasser Davin,

I'm sorry, but I still don't see Paul lying about anything. I've read the accounts that you are referring to. Jesus did tell His disciples that they would not physically see Him again after His ascension. Paul, on the Damascus road never said that he physically saw Jesus. Paul said he saw a light from heaven, and he heard a voice from heaven. He never said he physically saw Jesus. So there is no contradiction there. I'm sorry that you view Paul as a liar and someone who fabricates the truth. I just don't see it, and I'm not going to agree to it.

I would like to start out by thinking each and everyone who have shared and given me the time to read some of your comments. It's not every day that i take time to set and read bible verses and spend time with my father. although I pray and ask him to use me, I surrender, God is a merciful God and I want to spend more time with him and doing his will. just as you have given me a chance to comment there are other brothers and sisters out there, that God want to reach though us by commenting and connecting each of us to his will.

Thank you for your great reply! I am so much enjoying this website, & commenting with others about the Lord! I think you may be right about the thief on the cross because since my last comment I remembered something! When Jesus was crucified and was raised, He appeared & was talking with His disciples. He told one of them not to touch Him because He hadn't ascended into heaven yet! So, how then was He in Paradise with the thief when they gave up the ghost?

All scripture is given by INSPIRATION OF GOD and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

  • Bob Hilt - in Reply on Isaiah 66
Yasser so you are telling us the book of acts is wrong for telling us the story of Paul's conversion. The book of 2 peter that acknowledges Paul as a brother in the faith is wrong. That the Holy Spirit FAILED to warn the 11 apostles that Paul was a fake? Is that what you are telling us in your statement? I want to be sure I understand. If Paul is a fake then all the above would be true.
  • James brooks - in Reply on Matthew 24:38
The Bible teaches both GOD,S sovereignty in electing sinners to salvation (John 6:44,Romans 8:29 and Ephesians 1:4.and we are commanded to evangelize and spread the gospel(Matthew 28:16-20)Why evangelize if we are predestined?Because we were commanded to do so.I believe the gospel is Preached mostly to the believer anyway .Because the unbeliever does not want hear what you are saying any way.It is totally the work of GOD. There is away I believe,to embrace predestination, and election without having our hands bound by it,when it comes to evangelism. For scripture teaches both sovereign election and necessity of evangelizing.Paul addressed this issue in (Romans 10:13-15).R.C.Sproul commented on that passage;GOD not only foreordains the end of salvation for the elect,He also foreordains the means to that end.We are called to share the gospel and to respond in faith and obedience. So you see evangelism is still necessary in light of GOD,S sovereignty in salvation for two reasons:(1)GOD has commanded us to do it.(2)This is GOD,s chosen means of advancing His kingdom on earth. We have that privilege of being used by GOD to accomplish HIS will. What a blessing to by to bless others with the words of the BREAD OF LIFE. The apostle Paul was sent by the LORD to preach the gospel to JEW and Gentile. That by hearing they might believe, and so call on the name of the LORD and be saved. But there can be no true calling upon GOD without faith no faith without hearing no hearing without preaching and no preaching without a divine calling.Every man calls upon the god he believed in.And those that do not believe in GOD and Christ do not call on them. How shall they believe in him whom they have not heard;meaning that there is no faith in Christ without hearing of Him.There may be believing without seeing, but not believing without hearing.

I know that God was watching over me when I was very young. I should been electrocuted several times,I should have been shot, by a shotgun. Burn do to and explosion, twice. That when I was very young; I'm 63 years old now, and God have been calling me all of my life. I tried to drink it away to gambling it away: if God would have given me my just reward that I deserve, I personally wouldn't be here.but because of his mercy and grace; and with all of the chances my Lord has given me: I finally accepted the call to the to the ministry. Thanks be too God,hekept me from falling any deeper in sin. We need to wake up, repent, pray turn back from all of our wicked ways. Reference to revevelation.

The Apocrypha already exist before 1611. King James simply authorized its translation same as the old and new testament. It was in the previous translations as well. Without the Apocrypha we loose 400 years of history
