  • Eri Tavor on Psalms 49:12
As a society we give importance to material things and attribute the greater our accumulation of them, as the measure of worldly success. Although throughout history, it can be seen that when someone dies, all of their worldly goods are left behind. Hence the saying, "You can't take it with you." Even so, it is an accepted ideology, that having a lot of material gain, is a good & needful thing. Yet at the same time, it is not without it's downfalls. Because it is also very common that in our social circles, that as time goes by, we get tired and bored of all our 'stuff' and begin wanting newer, better, higher tech'y things, never being satisfied. And in so doing, we begin to lose sight of more important things like being selfless instead of selfish, not thinking about others before ourself or making sure all of our needs are taken care of, before even noticing if anyone else is struggling in need. But, according to the Holy Scripture, "What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world but lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 - Herein, is a clear message, that becoming enfocused in mainly looking out for ourselves, will ultimately cause us to forget that we too, like every other beast, eventually reach the end, 'our final destination'. What will have been, our own great contribution then? Who will remember us and why? If all we've done, is insure our own personal self-satisfaction & a highly prized collection of trophies, tokens and treasures to simply collect dust and finally ends up being inherited by another who places little value on them, only to be sold, given away or trashed.., as has happened w/an array of trophies after years pass & new trophies are put in their place. It is wiser then, " lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth currupt and where theives do not break in to steal." Matthew 6:20 Let us therefore, in humble compassion, strive for the prize of His high calling, run the race and "having done all, to stand." Ephesians 3:16

Thank you for your well worded reply. Ok, one at a time. It is my understanding that disciple means 'taught one'. Is that your understanding? Paul

Can I say my Brothers, by the Word, it does seem water baptism does matter, there is a correct way, and in whose name we do know.

    Acts 10:44

"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word."

    Acts 10:48| View Chapter| Context

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

    Acts 8:38| View Chapter| Context

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Both went down into the water and he baptised him.

    Matthew 28:19| View Chapter| Context

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Did not even the Lord command us to go and teach all nations baptizing them in His name.

From the Word it is important, from the Word there was a way of doing it, from the Word we have been told to do it.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Luke 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

The Word is our absolute and that we all agree.

God bless you my Brothers, as for me, in humility to His Word, I want to take it just as He said it or moved His people to write It.
  • Nkere-Owaji Alagoa on Psalms 91
This is one of my most lovely portions of the bible because the psalmist is giving us a wholesome assurance about FAITH IN GOD.

God is closer to us more than the air we breathe. We need Him to sit down, stand up, eat, speak, comb our hair, laugh, smile, cry, blink our eyes, walk, we need God to do everything. In Him we live, work and have our being.

We can only achieve this by praying every time in our hearts. This is referred to as SPIRIT PRAYER (Meditation),, and without holding on to any offence in our hearts (free spirit) , forgiveness - forgiving others of their wrong doings. Then we shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Knowing God is a thing of the heart (spirit).

    Thank you Jesus Christ.

John 11:44 is kind of humorous to me. When I picture in my mind Lazarus coming out of the grave, and he is wrapped in little 3 inch bandages from his foot to his neck, and then he has got a towel over his head, and he is coming out like one of those mummies you see in the movies. He can hardly walk. He is bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a towel. Jesus said unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Basically, Jesus is just telling them to unwrap him and let him go.
  • Jesse - in Reply on Obadiah 1

I believe they are both the same thing. The day of the Lord or day of Christ is not a specific day. It is a time period that God has set apart. It will be His day. The Lord's day is coming. It's not a specific day. It's a time period. It will be a time of His coming judgment.

  • Jesse - in Reply on Ephesians 4:5
Paul, I thought I've given a good explanation of my understanding of both Spirit and water baptisms. Apparently, I am not giving you the answer you are looking for. So before I can go any further, what is your understanding of water baptism? Do you think it is necessary for salvation? What makes a person a saved person? Also, do you think a disciple means a saved person? I want to respond, but right now it's beginning to feel like you are beating around the bush to get me to give you the answer you are looking for, and I haven't given you that answer yet!
  • Bob Hilt - in Reply on Obadiah 1
Gerard these are my thoughts and most would disagree, Is the day of the Lord and the day of Christ the same event. Most pastors in the USA will claim one day is the pre trib rapture and the other day is the 2nd coming at the end of the tribulation. However is claiming the day of the Lord and the day of Christ are two different events, does that not deny that Jesus is Lord? I say that Jesus is Lord.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:52 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

We are changed at the LAST TRUMP and where is this found?

In REVELATION, the LAST BOOK of the Bible there are 7 trumps and the 7th trump is the LAST ONE and is at the end of the tribulation. If this is true then the day of the Lord IS the day of Christ.

Be happy that the Bible is here for us and it is very True and when it says the dead no nothing, the dead no nothing!!! I lost my mom when I was 29 a day before my bday so I can relate how it may be saddening to learn this , but you have to believe it so if you believe. Be glad you have Jesus to talk to he will get you to God! Amen

What is the difference between the day of Christ and the day of the Lord
  • Paul - in Reply on Ephesians 4:5
Hi Jesse. I understand you believe that water baptism is not necessary for salvation. That it is baptism by God through Holy Spirit that IS necessary. Wouldn't this take man out of the equation at Matthew 28:19-20? After all, it is the MEN that are making the disciples by means OF baptism. Or are you thinking that whether or not their baptism provides salvation is a matter to be determined by God? Thank you. Paul

Besides Ecclesiastes 9 -5,6 ...Where else does scripture speak on the dead not knowing anything
  • Jesse - in Reply on John 5:4
    Hi Jeff,

I might be intruding in your conversation, and please accept my apology. But you have stirred my curiosity on something. You mention Judas walking away from his salvation. Someone else in another post said that Judas was a Christian. I have never heard anyone refer to Judas as being a Christian, or saved for that matter. In John 6:70, Jesus said have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Jesus did not choose Judas Iscariot to become evil. He chose him to be part of His ministry because he was evil, because the scriptures must be fulfilled that He be betrayed, And He can't be betrayed by one of His own. There has to be a demon in the camp! Judas was evil the entire time, and only Jesus knew it.

But I'm still impressed by how after three years, Jesus can announce to the disciples at the Last Supper that one of you will betray me, and none of the disciples knew who it was.

You would think that after three years, if Judas Iscariot is a demon, you would think that the others would have noticed something strange about him during that three year period and say "I knew there was something weird about that guy!"

But they didn't know. He talked like them, acted like them, and looked like them. They couldn't notice any difference over three years. You would think maybe over a month that he could deceive them for a whole month, but three years?

That is scary! That's why believers in the body of Christ, even in our day, in the last days, we must trust and go by the Word of God not by appearances.

Thank you for this explanation I am a firm believer that there is no rapture but only a second coming. John 6: 39-44 puts a nail in the coffin of preachers preaching the rapture
  • Jesse - in Reply on 1 Corinthians 5:11

I'm glad you responded. I did not intend to make it seem like I was referring to the early church being like today's church. I hope others will not get that impression. I was a little sporadic in my thoughts, going from the church today, to the early church, and then back again, so I see how it can be taken the wrong way.

The church back in the first 300 years seemed to have their act together until Constantine came into the equation. Most of today's problems stem from the church becoming too large, and it was never intended to be that way, and I'll explain my reasoning in a second.

But I think most of our problems come from opening the door to everybody because we've become more concerned with numbers than teaching the truth of the gospel. It seems as though success is based on how much money the church makes, and how many people we can pack into the church. (Mega-Ministries)

The reason why I say that the church was never intended to be too large comes from studying the parable of the mustard seed. The mustard seed was not supposed to grow into such a large tree. I also have to keep in mind that in Mark's gospel, when Jesus was explaining the parable of the sower to the disciples, the first thing He said was, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

That's key to me. If I understand the parable of the sower, I will understand all parables. I can't understand the others without understanding the parable of the sower. So when I study the mustard seed, I conclude that the birds represent evil, as in the parable of the sower. So we have birds lodging in the branches of this mustard seed plant. I see the mustard seed plant as representing the church.

The seed is planted in the ground, and it grows to be a monstrous tree, which is not normal for this herb. The mustard seed does not grow into a tree. But it grows so large that the birds come and lodge in the branches. And these birds are evil, and they come and mix with the good.

Followers of Christ, will always hear thing that we agree with and we will hear things that we don't agree with. If you believe in the Lord don't doubt, ask god.Every that we claim we are in Christ we have to accept as the truth. The truth is every word that preceded out of the mouth of god.

Greetings Tamara consider this about the resurrection.

In Revelation 20:4-5, John sees the souls of Saints who were BEHEADED for refusing the Mark of the Beast during the Great Tribulation. John writes that they will rise and reign with Christ for 1000 years and that this is the FIRST RESURRECTION!

If according to John, the beheaded rise in the FIRST resurrection and Paul said those who are alive and remain are not caught up until AFTER the dead in Christ are resurrected, then this means the catching up or rapture takes place AFTER tribulation!

Now compare the above with 1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-23:

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of those who slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits; AFTERWARDS THOSE WHO ARE CHRIST'S AT HIS COMING.

Notice only one resurrection of the dead in Christ is mentioned here! Which, according to Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 must take place BEFORE we who are alive and remain are "caught up" with them!

When did Jesus say the dead in Christ would be resurrected?

John 6:39-40: Jesus said, "This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up ON THE LAST DAY.

John 6:44: Jesus said, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up ON THE LAST DAY."

Is the LAST DAY the start of thousand year reign of Christ?

I believe so....then it is eternity and time is counted no more

So if Jesus himself said the dead in Christ will be raised on the LAST DAY, and Paul said we who are alive and remain will not be caught up (raptured) until AFTER the dead are raised, then where does secret pre-trib rapture fit in?

    Is Yeshua really Lucifer?

The Complete Jewish Bible by "messianic believer" Doctor David Stern writes:

Presenting the Word of God as a unified Jewish book, the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) is a translation for Jews and non-Jews alike. It connects readers with the Jewishness of the Messiah. Names and key terms are returned to their original Hebrew and presented in easy-to-understand transliterations.

The CJB is a translation of the Bible into English by Dr. David H. Stern. It consists of Dr. Stern's revised translation of the Old Testament (Tanakh) plus his original Jewish New Testament (B'rit Hadashah) translation in one volume.

In Isaiah 14 (REMOVED LUCIFER AND INSERTS MORNING STAR) Their argument is Lucifer is a "Latin" word that does not belong in English. About 20% of English comes from Latin. Does Taco not belong in English since it is Spanish?

Satanists and Luciferians know who Lucifer is. Read Carefully

Isaiah 14: (the fall of Lucifer)

11 Your pride has been brought down to Sh'ol (Hell)

with the music of your lyres,

under you a mattress of maggots,

over you a blanket of worms.'

(KJV uses Lucifer Stern inserts MORNING STAR who FELL from Heaven)

12 "How did you come to fall from the heavens,

MORNING STAR, son of the dawn?

How did you come to be cut to the ground,

    conqueror of nations?

13 You thought to yourself, 'I will scale the heavens,

I will raise my throne above God's stars.

I will sit on the Mount of Assembly

    far away in the north.

14 I will rise past the tops of the clouds,

I will make myself like the Most High.'

So who fell from heaven going to the pit of Hell? THE MORNING STAR.

Who is the Morning Star? Stern says Jesus is Yeshua

Revelation 22: 16 "I, (Jesus) Yeshua, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Messianic communities. I am the Root and Offspring of David, the bright MORNING STAR.

Did you catch it Jesus is Yeshua the MORNING STAR in Revelation 22 and in Isaiah 14 Yeshua fell from heaven making him Lucifer essentially

Why was it acceptable to change the day of worship from Sabbath, Saturday to Sunday? God said, "I change not". The fourth commandment said "Remember the Sabbath", the only commandment with "Remember". Isn't being a Christian meaning Christlike? Jesus went to the temple on Saturday as was his custom. Why do people go to church on Sunday? God wrote the 10 Commandments with his own finger, he hung the stars, moon and the sun, he created us, did he need our help? We should worship on the day He said. We can worship everyday, but we can't keep every day holy. Sabbath was made for man.

Why did you put this under Genesis 1, when it is about other chapters? Also there are no links to these other chapters and there are several. I see this with others also; but I am relatively knew to this; and so i don't understand it. It seems to be relatively common but I find it difficult to follow when I am in Genesis; however; if i were to pick the newest comments; then I could decide on those other chapters there and may be that is what people usually does, in which case, I can see why people may post in one book on things in other books and then those who are interested can go there when they are browsing on the new comments looking for something to interest them.

Thank you for your comments in the Bible; I enjoy them.
