Hello Brother Peter; thank you very much; your posts are always uplifting! Do you ever wonder what in the world happened to Christianity, seeing it had such a powerful success in the beginning? Something happened! The beast and the false prophet happened, in the form of Islam; that has relentlessly destroyed the Church for 1400 years and does still to this day. So many are offended and fall away.

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior had chosen Apostle Paul for the Gentiles. This will be the most important time in Paul's life when Jesus speak to him. It will change the world for ever, the Grace age of the Church . Praise the Lord.

Ray; isn't it interesting too that the Lord didn't go ask the others first? But hearing the prayers of the Saints who were afraid of "this guy" He did something no one expected! The kind of man Saul of Tarsus was before he came to repentance and conversion didn't hide from God what He knew he could be and the Lord knew just how to bring that about. Paul was a very special brother: a great example!

Lu2677; in Galatians Paul gives a lengthy account of his growth in the Lord, which went over many years. Adding to that the narrative in Acts, how that he was with the Brethren in Antioch-Syria, and that it wasn't until the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them; that his name was changed, (at least in the narrative).

I think what Bryan K. meant when he said "the moment Saul was converted to Paul" Is that ""Saul became a Christian", But most people think of him as Paul, not so much that he was immediately called Paul. I see only one place between 9-13 that mentioned a long period of time and this is a year. I don't see " many years" before he is called Paul. If you have a verse otherwise let me know.

Bruce, Acts 9:3-9 Saul, later called Paul was met by God on the Road to Damascus, Saul trembled and was astonished. God blinded Saul and he did not eat or drink for 3 days.No where in the Bible does it teach that when God draws/calls someone they have to be blinded or fast for 3 days.So your term "tug on the heart" is your own fabrication of John 6:44. You insist on using your term against me.

To say " 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is the gospel that saves; not John 3:16", is silly. They mean the same thing. When Paul said "my gospel" it is because in Christ;Christ's gospel is Paul's gospel.Paul taught what Jesus taught, plus things that God inspired him to live and teach. Yes, learning from Paul and living out his gospel saves, a state that is progressive. His gospel belongs to the body of Christ

Bryan Katchay; Where do you get the idea that Saul was immediately Paul when he was converted? The Scriptures don't say that until many years after, when he was with the Brethren in Antioch. Also, the notion that he is the greatest man ever since Jesus, and that he alone is who we should follow, Paul would never agree to. "Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed,"
  • Bryan Katchay on Acts 9 - 6 years ago
The moment Saul was converted to Paul, he became the only Apostle to us, Gentiles. Remember that all of Paul's writings was Jesus/the Holy Spirit speaking to us, not Paul himself. Since the mysteries of our Salvation was given only the Paul, he became after Jesus, the second greatest man to walk the earth. 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 is the Gospel that saves, not John 3:16. Read Romans 2:16

Verses 4-9 Jesus called unto Saul to ask why he had done what he had done but Saul said unto Jesus I don't understand what you are saying unto me what must I do for he did not know that they were only affected by his power

I think saul was a mighty man until he crossed paths with the mightier God could have easily killed him but the scripture said CHRIST came not to destroy mens life but to save them its called mercy thats one reason God says blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy

The disciples that were there, that sent for Peter - why could they not have prayed for her ? Jesus said, " ..... greater works than these shall ye do ..... ". Being fairly new in their walk I suppose they hadn't the faith as yet ..... ?

V, 7 - they head the voice .....; just like Malchus in the gospels, I wonder, did they turn to God with Paul? we'll never know this side of Heaven. Maybe they couldn't understand the words ....? Saul was so full of ZEAL for God, not knowing who he was; so God just took his zeal and - turned him around. I love Paul; so does our pastor. There have been many who have been near like Paul, but not quite

In Acts ch. 10, we read of the Gentiles joining the Jews in worshipping Jesus in the power of the Holy Ghost. What a glorious sight as these 2, Jew and Gentile (2 loaves waving, Leviticus ?:?) joined their hands as one, in an offering of Pentecostal praise to Jesus Christ their Lord.

They heard but Saul was called out they were affected only by the presence of His power they were only affected to a certain degree of Christ power Paul experienced him in a supernatural way he reveled Himself to Him..

Gods sovereignty is reveled in pauls conversion paul could have ran away but he was predestened to be used by christ to preach the gospel to gentiles. he was the smoking gun of bringing the message of salvation to the gentiles
  • John madden on Acts 9:4 - 8 years ago
When we have an encounter with Christ as with Paul we should bow down. Paul was overcame by the presence of Christ.he got his attention gods word his gospel is power unto salvation. Paul heard His words from above we have his written word.
  • Bozki on Acts 9 - 8 years ago
The life of Paul is just like one of us. Before we are the one who persecuted the believers. but when God Choose us to be His Vessel all we can do is to obey Him, and Now we feel what we have done to the believers before, that is we must have compassion to those who persecute us. it us God 's commandment to Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you....God Bless....

Acts 9:11-12 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. OMG isn 't this brilliant? Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit knows our addresses, the street and the house number, our name and exactly who to contact! He knows what we are doing at every hour, what we are praying for, so He gives us the answers visions of what we should expect! Do we visualise our answers by faith? All we have to do is to believe that He has heard that we may receive. This God we serve is amazing! May this be our comfort and rest in Jesus name.

Verse 5, a Cambridge dictionary translation of the phrase, "kick against the pricks ", is to argue and fight against people of authority.

Verse 7, the men stood as they heard Sauls voice speaking to Jesus. They did not see Jesus. They did not hear the voice of Jesus speaking to Saul as it was for Saul only, Acts 22v9. The men with Saul must have fallen to the ground as Saul did upon the appearance of the light, Acts 26,v14. However, only Saul remained on the ground as he heard the voice of Jesus and replied to Jesus, as the other men stood up while listening to Saul speak without hearing the voice of Jesus or seeing him.

Yes. He appeared to Saul, likewise He appears to us to spread the Good News Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He saw in Saul a good minister of his whereas in our understanding Saul was a murderer. The understanding of God differs from the understanding of man.
