Stephen's story in the Bible is a big inspiration to me

Your right about this church. Let us never l se our first love. Many church people are so busy doing things for the church...social groups....garage sales etc. that they put the Lord on the back burner and soon their first love is warm
  • Marjorie Hodges - In Reply on Acts 6 - 4 years ago
Amen your statement says a lot and reminds me of the Church of Laciaous the spelling is incorrect but it's one of the seven churches of Asia the lost their first love they became lukewarm and the Lord spit them out

Verse 11~The religious leaders trumped up charges against Stephen and accused him of blasphemy. We see the same false accusations taking place today against innocent ones.
  • BSP on Acts 6 - 5 years ago
Verse 15~Stephen's face was like an angels face in that he reflected faith, serenity, calm, and complete confidence in Jehovah God.
  • Douglas Wells on Acts 6 - 6 years ago
He was talking about the sin full body that the adam had. But in place to what the devil told him

IAM OVERWHELMED BY THE DEVOTION OF THE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST, THEY HAD RESPECT FOR THE WORK OF GOD AND SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES TO SERVE HIM WHICH IS NOT THERE NOW WITH THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD. LETS GO BACK TO THE WORD AND THE FIRST DEVOTION CHILDREN OF GOD.

Correction: The Angel took incense and offered it with the prayers of all Saints upon the Altar. He then took the censer and filled it with fire of the Altar of incense, and threw it into the earth; this signifying that it was for the sake of the martyrs of Jesus and the prayers borne out of His suffering Church, that wrath and the Day of the LORD comes to make an end with the wicked of the earth.
  • A disciple on Acts 6 - 6 years ago
Ray; I don't understand what you mean by, "This will delay the second coming of Jesus." In Revelation it is because of the souls of the witnesses under the Altar, who are crying to the LORD for vengeance, that the Day of the LORD comes upon the ungodly! Before the seven Angels sounded their trumpets, the one Angel took hot coals from off the Altar, and offered them with the prayers of all Saints.

Acts 6:9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. Stephen had enemies which were large. Stephen was headed for persecution for the death of Jesus. This will delay the second coming of Jesus.

The Grecians were not gentiles, they are Jews who were Greek. The Hebrew Jews were citizens of Jerusalem. Remember, in chapter 1, it said there were Jews from all nations under heaven who were dwelling in Jerusalem.
  • Irene123 on Acts 6 - 7 years ago
Vs. 1-3; In those days, the Grecians were ALL Gentiles, non Jews. It was just the term the Jews used for the gentiles. The '12' were with Jesus, handled (touched) the word of life. They were the Pastors, evangelists. The disciples were the elders and saints; the elders appointed the saints for the work of supplying the needs of the needy saints. The elders had their work cut out for them. cont.

I hope everyone here knows the 10 commandments in which we are to obey! Jesus said in John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." We are to obey 1, 2, 3, 4 (keeping the Sabbath; one most often forgotten), 5 (also forgotten- to obey your parents), 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10!! Read them in Exodus chapter 20! "God loves you so much that he gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in him

I heard once that the 4 Gospels are like a car on display and the acts of the Apostles is driving that car and the epistles is like disassembling that car to know how it works . acts 6 show a young church growing and learning how to operate as a living breathing organism one that get it directions from it's head (Jesus) which direction travel through it's spinal cord (the Bible) to every body part
  • E Z MARANGE on Acts 6 - 7 years ago

  • Rita on Acts 6 - 8 years ago
The issue that arose btwn Stephen n the members of the synagogue was the same issue that we witness today-I only want a form of holiness. Christians today r very worldly n their hearts. They have no desire to b like Christ only to hold to standards of people who also just claim to love the Lord. I by no means mean to say that any of us, especially me, r perfect, but a Christian is supposed to b battling their carnality not reveling n it or changing n ignoring scripture to stay blind n sinful. Our world is full of just as many sadducees n pharisees as it was then n they stone us to death daily n their hearts. Pray for my manifestation of deliverance from all ungodliness n worldly lusts. This world needs a great awakening n refreshing of the Spirit.

Verse14,they were not willing to change their tradition for the new doctrin of Jesus Christ.
  • Joe on Acts 6 - 8 years ago
To me it sounds as thought the dispute was about Jesus Christ and his doctrine. Verse 10 seems to say it all - they could not resist the wisdom spirit.
  • Anonymous on Acts 6:9 - 8 years ago
What was the dispute between stephen and the members of the freedmen synagogue?
  • Bozki on Acts 6 - 8 years ago
Prayer is the earthly license to let heaven interfere to earth...God Bless...
  • Paul Melvin on Acts 6:4 - 8 years ago
Prayer tenderizes the heart of the one praying, leads to confession of sin, drives us to desire to submit to God Rom.12:1, 2 , unites the brethren to be of one mind, empowers the believer, and prepares the hearts of those who will hear. Finally, it brings the Word to life imparting faith to the lost, and holiness to the saved.Prayer drives us to the Word, and the Word drives us to pray.He who prays well studies well lives well and dies well.
  • Lance Gaynor on Acts 6:4 - 9 years ago
Prayer is the duty of the Christian. The word of God is the guide to God 's will for the practising Christian.
  • Insight 777 on Acts 6 - 9 years ago
Verse 2, the tables may not be distribution of food but instead represent distribution of money to supply the needs of the public. Spiritual needs and physical financial needs are not the same. The church is not a bank, nor should the church define financial laws. The 7 men may symbolically represent financial intermediaries that are honest, highly regulated, so that distribution of assets are equal for people of all stations in life. Truth and honesty must be a requirement for banking transactions. The poor should not be shut out as lending activities are usually dependent on the strengths and needs of the financial customers. The poor, as the sample of widows having difficulty supporting themselves, should be given the same consideration as the rich. The banking laws should be the same for all. The rich should not be given lower rates than the poor. Or perhaps these 7 may represent not for profit institutions where the needs of the poor are supplied separate from the church.
  • Samson Emmanuel on Acts 6 - 9 years ago
Stephen is the model christain should follow today to keep the word of God always firm in the society where they live.
  • Stephen on Acts 6 - 9 years ago
I think we need to master the whole book of Acts of the Apostles, and stop trying to be God. We are no match for the god of this world, with out the true God and His Son Jesus Christ. Wake up Christians!
  • P. Mobley on Acts 6:4 - 9 years ago
I believe Acts 6 4 is the glue that help hold the body of Christ together and the work of the ministry. So one must be committed body, soul, and spirit, for without God we can do nothing. We are but an instrument to be use by GOD.
  • Lady Q on Acts 6:3 - 10 years ago
The apostles believed in the church and in the fear of God. When they asked the church to pick seven men among themselves, they knew it will be done with reference unto God and the people elected managed to calm down the complaints which were in the cam. They applied the wisdom and obidince to God and that's why they were able to settle issues. It is all by the spirit of God.
