Let us be faithful as God is faithful.Truth cannot be surpressed in any form.
  • Dennis on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
Isn 't it best to take all Scripture at "face value? " In reading many of these comments it seems easy to discern the writer 's bias, which we are warned against. The Spirit isn 't trying to make it difficult for us to understand but rather He is making truth simple and available for all. Still, It comes down to, "As many as the Lord out God shall call. "

It should always be our desire and love for Jehovah God that we obey him even if human rulers prohibit what Jehovah God requires or require what God prohibits.
  • Gomolemo Sebakile on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
In whatever situation you are in just know that Jesus is always by your side, and he can set you free. He can lock out the chains that tightens you only if you have faith and by so doing you will do miracles and wonders in his name. Remember only is you have faith... Amen.
  • JESUSISCOMINGSOON on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
I happy to know that the same Peter who denied Jesus Christ, was able to speak boldly about Jesus in the presence of their Leader. He was also filled with joy when he was beaten for preaching in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that God will give me the grace to preach about him boldly. Praise God.
  • BOB on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
IF we were prayed up as much as Peter the Holy Spirit would heal people that our shadows fell upon. Imagine the glory and honor and praise God would receive. We are nothing, HE is everything!

To Napps s read your bible the cross is a symbol of Jesus Christ You listen to man rather than the word of God The cross represents the passion of Christ Christians want to recognize Christ by wearing a cross to show their love for the Lord Jesus Christ

  • Napps on Acts 5:30 - 10 years ago
Theres a bigger issue, I think. People wear the cross around their necks. Its a symbol, and a reminder of death. Some people kiss it during a certain event, and mumble a few thoughts. Some re religions and cults kiss the head of a snake, or bull. The cross to many people is supposed to represent some form of Jesus and his death. The Vatican has pushes the cross scene for over a thousand years (Popes), Their reason is not biblical, just old pagan. The cross is a false idol, no question. We have no idea of the items of archaeology they have been buying from finders of artifacts related to the era of Jesus, through the back door unfortunately. They can mot risk showing them to the public at this time. It would probably destroy the roman catholic religion. But, Jesus will take care of that issue when he returns in the clouds (not as a human). Unfortunately I probably wont be their to see him!

  • Edward Karinen on Acts 5:15 - 10 years ago
It is not distinctive here that the shadow of Peter heals anyone. They, the people, saw a lot of healing going on in Acts 15 that they hoped it to be so that they brought all into the streets that were sick to be healed. It does not state the shadow of Peter healed them, but it is possible by God for it to happen. Although, you will not find in the Gospels where anyone was healed by the shadow of Christ.
  • BManuel on Acts 5:32 - 10 years ago
Obedience begins from a faith filled heart, a faith filled person. "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." People involved in the murder of Jesus Christ on the cross believed and they sought to obey the Lord. They realized the horrible act they were guilty of and they did not want to die in their sins and be separated from the presence of God forever. ". . . Men and brethren what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For this promise is unto you, and your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." Those who heeded the gospel call believed and obeyed and received. Time and distance were not excepted, but included in the expression "all that are afar off." Then obedience is to be continued all the way to the end. It is not an impulsive now and then belief and obedience, but a continuous belief and obedience to the teachings of the New Testament. Not happy? Not satisfied with life? Feeling empty? Feeling shame and guilt? Feeling destroyed by something or someone? Try believing in and obeying Jesus Christ. Try it on and keep it up, on and on and on.
  • Rita on Acts 5:30 - 11 years ago
I think Jesus was nailed to a tree, not a cross, and he was nail in his wrist to support his body.
  • Susan Dalton on Acts 5:28 - 11 years ago
"Did not we straigtly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." Acts 5:28.

We have been affected by the Derecho and extreme heat; many have loss electrical power, and some have been out of power for nine days.

At least in some cases, clearance has to be documented on de-energized lines over 600 volts. This clearance document states that all lines or equipment have been isolated from all sources of hazardous energy. Lower voltage lines or equipment may only require a lock out/tag out procedure.

The apostles had received a clearance from the Lord. They were separated by the Holy Ghost for the work the Lord had called them unto. In essence, they were separated from worldly, hazardous powers which would keep them from fulfilling the Lord's work. They were not kept from those powers seeking to stop them, yet, they knew they had clearance from the Lord, and even if men sought to stop that work, they were to obey God: a hazardous work indeed.

In another way of looking at it, some who call on the name of the Lord, may be low voltage disciples. The world may have isolated them from their main power source to such a degree that they are received by the world; they may be locked out or tagged out while they work in certain areas - meaning they cannot in word make mention of the Lord. Others may be low voltage due to sin, or lack of obedience to God's word. Some may be low voltage because they are a babe in Christ; still, others, may be low voltage by God's will to be able to perform a specific work according to His will; but, the power to perform any work for Christ must come from His power.

The apostles, here,in Acts 5:28, were a live, hot wire for the Lord. The opposers of the gospel tried to enforce their clearance upon them. They sought to isolate the apostles from the power that enpowered them, yet, the apostles were a live, hot wire unto their death. They had received clearance from the Lord that His work might be done.

Working on downed, energized lines can be hazardous to the worker of the Lord; but, thanks be unto God, He insulates His workers for the work He has cleared them to do.

TO REV.DELTAMcNEISH Respectable, if I understood well Your last sentence, You pointed to the same center of my vision of Jesus. "Jesus the Son of God left the Church with mandate to know God and Himself...". Best regards and GOD BLESS US ALL
  • Rev. Delta McNeish on Acts 5 - 12 years ago
When I was much younger I wondered how two people could lose their lives right in the Church in the day of "grace." At 66 years of age the answer has come to me loud and clear. Holy Spirit was in charge of the early Church; He is not now. That is why we see so much corruption in what is called the "Church" today. However, there is a last wave of God's grace that is being given. Jesus said, Holy Spirit will tell us about Himself and guide us into all Truth etc. Yet (He)Holy Spirit has been totally ignored by most. This is a real problem. If Jesus the Son of God left the Church with a mandate to know God and Himself how are those who call themselves "Christians" knowing God experientially without Holy Spitit.

The determination of these religious rulers to obscure the truth of the gospel is an indication that they did not even believe in God in the first place. They were merely hiding behind the Law of Moses to make a name for themselves.Woe betides any one who calls the name of the lord in vain.

Acts 5:30 shows that the Jesus was hung on a tree. if you look at a Greek translation, the word stavros appear. and this word meant the right to delete an upright pole or stake. encyclopedia "The Imperial Bible-Dictionary" confirms it. also among the Romans was the word "crux" (the word comes from the cross) originally has been an upright pale. The book "The non-Cristian Cross by JD Parsons says" there is not a single sentence in any of the writings that make up the New Testament, the Greek show, either directly or indirectly, that the stauros used in connection with Jesus , was anything but an ordinary stauros, and there is nothing to suggest that it consisted of more than a stick. Jesus was seen on a crime and criminals at the time was hung on a log, pole. and the cross was used on a symbol of the god Tammuz, as it had the same shape as the first initial of his name.
  • Alexander Christian on Acts 5 - 12 years ago
Well, this story of Ananias and his wife actually discovers as plainly as it could be done, that entire project with books after the Gospel of John is nothing but a diabolical deception for mean an ignorant masses. The very aim is clear enough, but let me try to mention a couple of facts. First of all, in times of Moses and before, God required a tenth of wealth to be offered in public, to priests. It was an usual percentage from the beginning (see 'tithes' in Old Testament, from Abraham with Melchizedek and further in Numbers, also Malachi 3:10). New Testament is changing everything about it, there is no more valid system of priesthood and no sacrifice of that kind. If someone wants to do something really good with his own wealth, the way is explained in the Sermon on the Mount. On the other hand, when certain rich young man approached to Jesus asking him for everlasting life, instruction was 'If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you own. Give the money TO THE POOR (not to Jesus himself) and yo will have riches in Heaven.' Now, it seems that this detail is taken, turned upside down and abused to fright, threat and control senseless mob which is thrusting to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Of course God would never kill such a man like Ananias for such a 'crime'. Moreover, whatsoever is offered should be done with good will, with joy, fear and pleasure. This story is a quintessence and a quoin of EVERY single church that ever existed later, does not matter if it is some primitive idolatrous nationalistic community or 'advanced' protestant clan. And to conclude this essay, let me say that there is no doubt about the meaning of the parable of good seed and the weed. While Jesus sets a childish state of mind as a ticket to enter the Holy kingdom, that bloody lizard is proudly putting childish things away. Every bird to its flock, at least similar creatures shall not be boring people in world to come. And above all, the whole scandal is done in the name of the High Priest, which makes the whole criminal case many times heavier. That also explains his sigh 'I am come to send fire, and how will I, if it already were kindled!' Even Pharisees were noble gentlemen comparing to this villains...
