Acts 5:39 - I thank Jesus He could use Gamaliel. He wasn't saved, and neither was Cyrus, King of Persia, but God used him in the rebuilding of the Temple. What a merciful, Glorious God we serve. He doesn't use these people because they are 'good', i.e. living for Him); He uses them for His people's benefit. He uses them for His own Glory.

It was good to hear from you. Yes, our song leader loves the new songs, and very seldom uses the old ones. But, oh my! does he love the Lord! To get us 'going' in the song service, he almost preaches.' C'mon saints; lift Him up, praise him'! And that does it - every time. And as we sing the voices get stronger and stronger! The tears just run from my eyes; I love Him so. 'Amazing Grace' is sung.
  • Bruce on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
Irene: Amen! The power in The songs of Old. Lifting up Our Savior, there would be Testimony after Testimony. Sometimes that would be for the whole service. Oh what a Savior! The Church I was at,refuses to sing the old hymns. The Pastor said the new songs are just as good---? Just to hear, The Old,Old Story of Jesus and His Love.
  • Irene123 on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
Bruce - You just got to my heart; the old song, At the cross (yes, and did my Savior Bleed). 'At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light, and the burden of my sins rolled away; it was there by faith I received my sight, and now I'm happy all the day.'
And, "Have a Little talk With Jesus, tell Him all about your troubles, He will you when you cry, He will answer by and by."
  • Bruce on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
Jason: in the Greek it says stake or cross. The statement you're making came from a believer turned Atheists. Trying to destroy The Church. He to said he's a historian. Stake, plank, tree: makes no difference,He was lifted up,He paid for Our sins. What about yours? Only by The Blood of The Lamb is there Salvation! At The Cross,at The Cross when I first saw The Light. The Lord Died on a Cross for me!
  • Jason on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
Im an historian of the Bible to much of a surprise to most people Romans never used the cross beam for quite some time after Christ death so Jesus died on an upright stake/tree the Greek word stauros if you are a Christian this should make a huge difference to salvation you want to worship in truth
  • Irene123 on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
One doesn't show their love for Jesus God by wearing a piece of jewelry. I learned from a man yrs. ago when he told me the reason he, an atheist, wore this cross was because he wanted to be reminded - there was no God. It's your LIFESTYLE, not jewelry, that shows Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
Did anyone know that the cross tree type of death was instituted by the Persians, and the Roman's adopted it? Does anyone care? It is an interesting sidelight, but as with 'arguing' about whether it was or wasn't this or that, none of it has anything to do with - salvation.
  • Peter P. Maginde on Acts 5 - 6 years ago
what one sees in chapter 5 is the light against dark. the Holy Spirit of God will always be true and right. we are surrounded from all sides by temptation but Jesus will always deliver us if and when we ask Him to help us,AMEN. No chain or prison bar can stop our Lord from visiting us anywhere any time, true.
  • Kathy Newcomer on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
Margaret Mordi, The tree refers to wood. The cross is referred to as a tree because, in the OT, Deut. 21:23 says that to be hung on a tree is to be cursed of God. Jesus bore our curse for our sins when they hung him on the cross.
  • Margaret mordi on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
Was Jesus hanged on a tree
Act 5 vs 30. Why cross
  • Kimbalia Valenrine on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
I love that no matter what man said or tried to do Peter stood fast to the word of God
  • Irene123 on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
To Joseph on v.30 - as you see it; Heb. 11:1. Also, it says 'tree', so how do you know it wasn't a literal Olive or Fig tree, still growing in the ground? He was 'nailed' to something. but as I see it - that/s what saves us and is important: Acts 2:38 is our salvation: PETER said so (and so did Jesus in Matt. 28:19). The 'tree' is just something one uses as a distraction to those searching.
  • Marlene on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
This passage teaches me to always walk in God's truth and always hold firm to my belief in God inspite of opposition

  • BSP on Acts 5 - 7 years ago
Verse 29 shows that's God's laws must be obeyed above man's laws. When a law a man makes conflicts with God's law then we must follow the words found here in this verse.
  • Lilian on Acts 5 - 8 years ago
Disobedience to God's words is the first sin that we have committed. That is why Jesus was given for us so that we may all have life in abundance. From his blood our sins are forgiven and we are pardoned he paid the price on the cross and the cross was the tree of life. A cross where he shed his blood for us. This is the cross where Jesus destroy the works of the defeated devil . Thank u Lord
  • Newbiekwabena on Acts 5 - 8 years ago
The Apostle of Acts talks about Ananias not been convince and also Peter not having faith in the priest but in Christ.
  • Robert L on Acts 5 - 8 years ago
The Bible often records events out of order. It records what happened and then how it happened. Compare 1Sam.17:50-51, 2Sam.20:10-12, 1Kings22:35-37. There are no misprints or errors in the King James Bible.
  • Johnny on Acts 5 - 8 years ago

  • Weight Lifting Complete on Acts 5:5 - 9 years ago
This verse was a little scary to me. So many people commit that same sin today and even much worse. Everyone... read this verse from the Word of God and take notice!
  • Alexey on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
    Thank you!
  • Lilian on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
Jesus wants us to be Born Again in Spirit and invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in our lives. If we are feed with Jesus heavenly manna the word of God and obey them, God will give us the power not to sin again. From God 's words only we recieved peace, joy, life in abundance and the defeated enemy cannot even touch God 's anointed children who believes Jesus the Son of the Living God. Thanks to Jesus and praised him everyday for his goodness, love, mercy and grace following us everyday in our lives. Amen
  • Insight 777 on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
If the story of Ananias and his wife Sapphira is a parable then there is the possibility that Ananias represents the banking system and Sapphira represents business trade. The parable may be about usury and the necessity of honesty and truth in the handling of money with the public. The part of the possession held back could represent an interest rate that the banker keeps for himself. Without honesty and truth in lending then equality in trade perishes. Money that is dishonestly attained to support a banking system or a trade business should not be allowed. That bank or trade business should not flourish but be brought down and not be allowed to exist.
  • UZOR IKEDIASHI on Acts 5 - 9 years ago
ANANIAS AND SAPHIRA WERE LIARS IN THE HIGHEST ORDER. INSTEAD OF THE WIFE TO BE A CORRECTION OF THE LIES THE HUSBAND TOLD, SHE ADDED MORE TO IT. IN ANY CASE, I AM OF THE VIEW THAT BOTH OF THEM ARE NOT GOOD CHRISTIANS EVEN THOUGH THEY APPEARED IN THE WORD OF GOD. IT IS ALSO A WARNING TO ANY CHRISTIAN OUT THERE TO MAKE CORRECTIONS IN THEIR FUTURE LIFE STYLES. WHEN ONE TELLS LIES, LET THE OTHER BE TRUTHFUL. BUT IT IS MY CANDID OPINION THAT HUSBAND AND WIFE SHOULD ALL THE TIME BE TRUTHFUL AND IMBIBE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTHFULNESS IN THEIR CHILDREN.
  • Dave King on Acts 5:30 - 9 years ago
I suggest: Jesus was hung upon a tree, as the Old Testament of our Lord declared, and it was the Tree of Life, manifested out of wood, declaring our vertical horizon relationships with His church family and of His life in the world, brought together at the Cross through the sacrifice of Jesus in our place, though we are undeserving. And from this fruit, our Father made good His promise from ill, Genesis 50:20 , and the Son was resurrected returned to the Father, thus enabling the Holy Spirit to pour out Life, from seed to seed, redemption restoration, everlasting.
