One of the meanings of His name, Jesus, is 'God Saves'.... But saves us, individually, from what? For those heretics who believe solely in the written word, even they must find the Gospel of Matthew convincing in Christ's references to his second coming and the inevitable division. Man knows the truth but cannot always persevere. Calvin was wrong, we are free to choose the truth to our dying breath as did the good thief on the cross. I think it fair to perfection to believe where ever He goes there is The Kingdom of God.

Acts 2:38, according to Matthew 10:5-7 is for the Lost sheep of the house of Israel; and first Corinthians 15: verse 3, and 4, are for the Gentiles. Take a look, and let me know what you think.
  • Maggie K Valentine on Acts 2:38 - 3 years ago
Immediately upon submitting ones life to Jesus, and acknowledging His death as the ultimate sacrifice for our dastardly sins; in that nanosecond our names are written in the Lambs Book Of Life. Jesus immediately sends His Spirit to live and dwell in us.

There is nothing we can do or say that will cause the Lord to send His Spirit upon us.

It is a "free gift!" We can't earn it. Then the Spirit would be categorized as "Good Works!"

Absolutely not! When Christ cried out in John's gospel, "It is finished" The sin debt was paid in full!! We did zero to earn the gift of salvation: just as we do nothing to prove to God we are now ready for His Spirit. Positively in error...

Thank you Willie, that is what I thought and that is what I tried to tell this other person but they kept telling me that when peter told the people to repent and be baptize it was directed to the Israel and the gentiles only had to believe through grace but didn't have to repent and that gave me a red flag! I told her it was a command even though baptism doesn't save but it is symbolic symbol of of our new birth in Jesus in the death , burial and Resurrection to the world, and that God calls all to repent

    Dear Victoria

Read Acts chapter 10 tells how Peter went to Cornelius, you can go right to verse 45 and the Jews were astonished that the gentiles received the Holy Spirit. Never doubt Jesus love for all who call on him.

    Respectfully

In Acts 2:38 was that for the Jews only or for both Jews and Gentiles? and if for both can I get scripture to back it up, I believe it was for all both Jews and Gentiles, but someone told me that we have to separate Israel and the church
  • Daily Growth in The Churches - In Reply on Acts 2:47 - 3 years ago
    Acts 2:46

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

    Acts 2:47

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord ADDED to the church daily such as should be saved.

    Acts 5:42

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

    Acts 6:1

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

    Acts 16:5

And so were the churches established in the faith, and INCREASED in number daily.

    Acts 17:11

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

We need to check in daily with ACLJ dot com to see what Petitions need signatures

Regarding, the House Democrats that are trying to close American Churches, BAN singing in Church, penalize Church members not wearing face masks! Even going so far as penalizing Christians who have Home Bible studies!!!

Our Constitutional Freedoms regarding Churches are going away because of lack of information, not signing Petitions to stop these illegal actions,

Complacency, inaction and not "getting involved" for whatever reason. THIS is the Church that Jesus shed His Blood, to plant in the Book of Acts. It's Biblical; It's the KNOWN Will of God, through Jesus Christ.

So, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT JESUS?

The Senate isn't doing this atrocity. It's Nancy Pelosi (who said on camera that she's a devoted Catholic and doesn't hate anybody)

....and her personal gang of "yes men and women".

I think it's time the Church rose up and protest by holding up signs by the roadsides....AND SINGING

With face masks of course. We need to show we are not going to let them win!

The Church was indeed "added to" in Acts 2:41-47. There is a reference to a sinning Church member who refuses to repent & change his behaviour: that he be removed from the Church, that he might come to his senses & be restored or else that God destroys him so that his spirit might yet be saved ( 1 Corinthians 5:1-5). And then in Acts 5:1-11 there is the sad account of Ananias & Sapphira, where because of sin, the Lord had dealt severely with them.

COMMENTS BY Alex on Rev 1, Rev 5 and Rev 7 Comments about the book of revelation not having anything to say about water baptism, only the blood of the Lamb. Unto him that has loved us and has washed us from our sins in his own Blood . Rev 5 Thou has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred. ppl and nation and has made us unto out God kings priests that we shall reign on this earth. No mention of water baptism the only mention of water is FOUNTAINS OF LIVING WATER WHICH IS THE H.G. as john said when Jesus SPEAK OF WATER IT WAS THE SPIRIT FOR THE H.G WAS NOT YET GIVEN B/C THAT CHRIST WAS NOT YET GLORIFIED. Rev 7 Who are these and whence come they, these are they that have come out of great tribulation and have made their robes white in the Blood of the LAMB . Many places in Rev. speak of the lamb of God AND HIS BLOOD but none of water baptism, No wonder John the baptise said he must increase but i must decrease .Jesus said among them born of a woman there are none greater then JOHN but he that is least in the Kingdom is greater then JOHN ,who is greater then John? ITS simply the H.G. OUR NEW BORN INNERMAN THE Child of PROMISE THAT IS LEAST IN THE KINGDOM SIMPLY B/C HE IS BORN IN THE KINGDOM A BABE THAT IS IN US,OUR NEW HEART AND NEW SPIRIT IS THE H.G . The babes and the sucklings are the least in the Kingdom but they are BABY GODS born in US via his seed etc. Jesus said he that is least among you shall be great thats the H.G. the Child of Promise resulting from his good seed the living word sown in our hearts. They are greater then any human including John. They are the children of PROMISE, THE MULTIPLICATION OF CHRIST via his good seed the word the fruit of his good seed resulting from our hearing and understanding the bridegoom's voice. To whom the WORD came it made them Gods via a heavenly birth . When Isaiah saw the Kingdom coming he said unto us a Child is born . Jesus said unless ya receive the Kingdom as a lil CHILD etc. The PROMISE CHILD TH H.G.

the forces of evil, not only attach the ones that promote Christ, from a stand point of sinners attacking Christians, but also Christians attacking Christians. It is seemingly so much more terrible now than when I was a child in the world. We now see Christians that are turning against God, and going back into the world, and for what? there was nothing out there for us before we were saved. We as Christians, need to come together and pray for each other, remember where we came from, remember the agapa love that god has shown us, remember the commandments, and as Jesus bought to our attention the first two are the most important. This is found in another discussion I was reading. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."

    - Matthew 22:35-40

We all need to remember that none of us are without sin, and not made perfect. So we need to pray for one another, and remember that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and should treat each other accordingly with the love that God has granted us. May you be blessed today and throughout your life.

    God bless you brother John

Remember the apostles were not yet filled with the Holy Spirit. They were just ordinary men who had been prepared for the coming of the Spirit of God on Pentecost. Their idea about adding a twelfth apostle was stupid. They were just thinking as normal people think. They did not have the mind of Christ at that time. Shortly before that, Peter had even denied three times that he was a follower of Jesus Christ! Thomas had even said he thought the other apostles were crazy for thinking Jesus had risen from the dead! These were just simple, uneducated common men... but then came the Holy Ghost...

So to answer you question: No, it was wrong.

    Love in Christ

    Judas betrayal of Jesus foretold

Psalms 41:9 - Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

    Wesley's Notes for Psalms 41:9

Yea - These words were literally fulfilled in David,

and yet the Holy Ghost looked farther in them, even to Christ and Judas Iscariot, in whom they received a fuller accomplishment. Lift up - A phrase implying injury, joined with insolency and contempt; taken from an unruly horse, which kicks at him that owns and feeds him.
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
As Jesus chose twelve men to be His disciples, later apostles, the remaining eleven after Judas committed suicide, felt the need to restore their number to the original design. I don't think there was any compulsion for them to do this - it was just something they believed was necessary. Also, they may have remembered the Lord's Plan of sending them out "two by two" ( Mark 6:7), which would have made it awkward if they, after Jesus' ascension, would try & follow that rule. And the two nominations, Barsabas & Matthias had to be witnesses to Jesus' resurrection, & no doubt they were also among those that closely followed the Lord in His ministry & learned of what the Kingdom of Heaven required.

As well, the twelve were appointed by the Lord to minister to the Jews only ( Matthew 10:5,6), & we know that they did not leave aside an opportunity to minister to others (e.g. Acts chapter 10: Cornelius) as the Lord directed them. Whereas, the apostle Paul was specially called & commissioned to be a minister to the Gentiles primarily, but also to many others ( Acts 9:15,16) who would cross his path & before those he would one day have to stand.

There is a Psalm the speaks of Jesus being betrayed by a friend. It was a prophesy that was fulfilled by Judas.

The disciples just filled his vacancy, is all. Paul was chosen by Jesus to minister to the Gentiles.
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
I suppose the Holy Spirit can do that, but one should discern whether it is indeed of the Spirit or of the flesh. We can be truly joyous in our spirits as ministered by the Holy Spirit when we are caught up in the wonder & praise of our God & that may be reflected in different ways. For me, it has always been a quiet joy & satisfaction in my heart when being moved by the reading of God's Word or singing His praises (especially the old hymns, such as "The Old Rugged Cross"). Oftentimes, I actually find a tear developing as I recall what Grace has been afforded me to free me from the bondage & penalty of my sin. But to laugh aloud (or, uncontrollably as we sometimes see/hear about) is something that I've never been led to do, nor could I give judgement on those who do it.

    Wesley's Notes for 2 Peter 3:10

3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief - Suddenly, unexpectedly. In which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise - Surprisingly expressed by the very sound of the original word. The elements shall melt with fervent heat - The elements seem to mean, the sun, moon, and stars; not the four, commonly so called; for air and water cannot melt, and the earth is mentioned immediately after. The earth and all the works - Whether of nature or art. That are therein shall be burned up - And has not God already abundantly provided for this? 1. By the stores of subterranean fire which are so frequently bursting out at Aetna, Vesuvius, Hecla, and many other burning mountains. 2. By the ethereal (vulgarly called electrical) fire, diffused through the whole globe; which, if the secret chain that now binds it up were loosed, would immediately dissolve the whole frame of nature. 3. By comets, one of which, if it touch the earth in its course toward the sun, must needs strike it into that abyss of fire; if in its return from the sun, when it is heated, as a great man computes, two thousand times hotter than a red - hot cannonball, it must destroy all vegetables and animals long before their contact, and soon after burn it up.

    People's Bible Notes for 2 Peter 3:10

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come. This expression usually, but not always, refers to the second advent. Such is the meaning here. As a thief in the night. When people are not expecting it. Compare 1Th 5:2 Mt 24:43. In which the heavens shall pass away. See Lu 21:33. The elements shall melt. The material of which they are composed. The earth also and the works that are therein, shall be burnt up. The earth and all man's creations. That the world shall come to an end seems to be written in its very constitution. A slight change in the constitution of the atmosphere, or the decomposition of its water would wrap it in flame.

  • HOW ARE YOU FOLLOWING JESUS on Acts 2:38 - 3 years ago
read about "the Spiritual Man" by Watchman Nee: its weighty, but thoroughly explains the inner workings of the flesh, our souls and the spirit (which is made alive) upon being born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

The Godhead is made up of 3 distinct persons. We are born of flesh and soul. When we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, our spirits are made alive to God.

The Holy Spirit tells us about Jesus. JN chapters 16-17

That's why it's paramount to build up our inner most selves on reading the Bible. Why not begin reading in the New Testament?

I did a study just in the Gospels about the dynamics between Jesus, the Father, the Holy Spirit; the Apostles; and you can see how the Body of Christ is to operate as a unit...one Body. It keeps you focused.

The Old Testament can be accessed to see the prophesies that have been fulfilled, or the few that are being fulfilled now.

We are to be involved in EQUIPPING the Saints of God for the Lord to have available; disciples to work in this End Time Harvest.

We are to be His Body that sees, hears, teaches and preaches what we have learned; TO THOSE THAT ARE PERISHING !

Has anybody memorized the link out on the Red Section that has the Link: How TO Become A Christian??

Where is The Spirit of John the Baptist? Calling people to repent and be born again?

Do you know enough to lead them in a prayer for salvation? Point them to a Church that possesses the pure milk of the Word?

    1 Corinthians Chapter 3

1 And I, brethren, could NOT speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

2 I have fed you with MILK and not with MEAT: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it; NEITHER NOW are ye able.

3 For ye are yet CARNAL: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

    John 4:34

JESUS saith unto them, My MEAT is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

I'm seeing comments about the rapture for Acts 2:41 but I don't see anything about the church being taken up there. Rather I see about the Jewish believers in Jerusalem selling all they had and putting it all together for them to share with all as they have need. More than likely they, too, believed that Christ was returning very very soon, which he did not. Later we see Paul taking up collections from the jews that were scattered around Europe, to send to the poor believers in Jerusalem. In other words the original selling of their goods had been used up. Not sure how one would get the rapture from this. Just asking.

  • RAPTURE CAUGHT UP SCRIPTURES - In Reply on Acts 2:41 - 3 years ago
The Rapture - the raising of the Church into heaven ( 1 Thessalonians 4:17)-is the next event on the prophetic calendar. The Rapture is when Christ comes back and takes every Christian that is still on this earth and resurrects all of those who have died and takes them to heaven with Him. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-8, Paul expresses that the Lord's return will be like a thief in the night. No one knows the date or time. However, there are several signs of the End Times that we can all be aware of. Events such as earthquakes and diseases, war and dispute among nations, and persecution against Christians are all signs leading to the Rapture.

    SCRIPTURES TO LOOK UP:

    Matthew chapter 24. 25: 1-46

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:2

    Revelation 1:7, 3:10

    1 Corinthians 15: 51-53

    Mark 13:32

    John 14:1-3

    Luke 21: 34-36; 12:40

    Acts 1: 9-11

    2 Peter 3:10

    Hebrews 9:28

    Philippians 3:20

    Colossians 3:2

    Ezekiel 18:4

You can use the empty search box on the KJB website: type in 'Antichrist' and it will list other verses you should read.

Write them down so you can share with friends and family, you want to be in heaven with you.

A Pastor just said in a sermon, that watching the DVD named, The Passion: really shows how Christ suffered so we could be saved. God save you. Amen.
