Iren123 you are getting closer to understanding the Word of God. You are right about we dont't have to repent and get baptized in the book of Act's. All we have to do is follow Apostle Paul through the Lord Jesus Christ in all his epistles Romans through Philemon and be saves by grace through faith plus nothing. Take God for his Word and believe. Rightly divide the Word of God and you will see...

    V. 45 - I have seen people say of this scripture thast it is for today; that we, if we are TRUE Christians, we should sell all we have and give to the church. Well, if they want to believe that, that is fine with me; I'm not going to debate it.

    Irene- Amen!

Bruce- glad it was clear up.

Have a blessed day to the both of you.
  • Bruce on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Blessed: when I first saw that post that's what it look like she said. After I read it a couple more times and thought about it? I think she was talking about what she read that from another post.

Blessed - I'm sorry for the words I omitted from my message; I'm an editor's dau., but have never learned to proof read - very well. What I said was, I have known the Bible for 50 yrs. and I know there is no difference between Holy Ghost and Spirit. Because the apostles used them interchangeably in one sentence it can get confusing to others. I'm sure it has to do with the 'context'.
  • Blessed on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Maybe I understood wrong. Did you say there is a difference in Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost?

John 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Blessed - I've for 50 yrs. there is no difference between the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit. On what comment of mine did you make your comment?
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
a disciple - Thank-you for the pleasant reply. I was thinking - the new Christians wouldn't take part in their old O.T. things, nor would they be allowed into the temple with their new belief; it would have been a sacrilege to the 'Jews'. I th'ot this because the people gathered with Jesus on Solomon's Porch; He didn't go into the temple proper.

Irene, The Court of the Gentiles was for "the Gentiles;" for there were many from all over the world that came up to Jerusalem, ever since the days of King Solomon. The Disciples at that time were not yet from among the Gentiles, but Jews, and were not assembling with the Gentiles. They did what was commonly done by all the people, gathering in groups; except THEY were filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
    V. 46 - The Bible doesn't say such, but there was a 'court of the Gentiles' that these Christians used at the Temple; it was an open roofed court, and in v. 47 they had Christians homes to worship in also. I read a lot of Bible history; it helps in understanding the Bible; I love biblical history.
  • Blessed on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Irene no difference of Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost

To Wayne: I read Jn. 7:39; what was I s'posed to get out of it?
  • Wayne on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Irene, read, if u will, John 7:39. Should help.

Moses, There is no contradiction with ANY Scriptures! It is important to understand the context of the Word, in order to discern what might otherwise sound different. Its not word games and its not some kind of secret code; but truth and intelligence in listening to what is said, in total. We cannot just take a favorite "verse" by itself to get the right meaning, without the whole of the teaching.
  • Moses on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Here is the Name that denoted by Holy spirit through Apostle Peter exactly in Act 2:38, that means we need to take Baptism in the name of Lord Jesus Christ....But Anti- Christ dwell in the Church doctrine and preach to people to take Baptism as in Mathew 28:19 and it say it is God word....now we need listen that Mathew 28:19 is God word means what about Act 2:38....Don't tell it is word of Peter
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Acts 2:4 - I've seen the question on here (on the comments back pgs.) - "I've tried to explain to my congregation that the holy ghost and the holy spirit are two separate things." I'm sure v. 4 is where they got this erroneous idea. Had Luke said, "..... as the ghost gave them utterance." it would have been ludicrous, as you can see. Isa. 1:18 - Come now, let us reason together ..... ".
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Acts 18:2 says Aquila was from Pontus. I got curious, looked up Pontus. And the article reminded me there were people (Greeks, "strangers") present on the Day of Pentecost, Acts 2:9. It was during the Roman period that Christianity entered Pontus and near-by areas from the Roman 'dispersion'. God wanted His people to spread His word beyond Jerusalem, and this is how he did it.

To Nene - thank-you so much for your encouragement. We're walking with Him and He's revealed His truth to us and we have His strength, but - when people disparage us - it hurts; even people we'll never meet, have never seen. That must be the sorrow of His spirit in us ..... ? But I'm fine, going through a 'dry' spell, but I made contact real good with Jesus this a.m. I love you, Nene, in Jesus.
  • Nene on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Praise the Lord Irene 123...being a chosen vessel of God feels so good but I just wanted to comment you....you're doing a wonderful work for God online and I'm sure else where too cause there is so many need truth...we know it's only a few that are chosen because of the sincere heart and not justifying sin..so I will pray for you to keep doing what you feel lead to do for the kingdom. The 4 gospels laid the foundation for the beginning of Jesus' church. The church began in Acts Ch. 2 with the first message by Peter, then the question, " ..... men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter's answer, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift if the Holy Ghost."
    This is salvation.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, ...............yet knowing how way leads to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged ...... and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Acts 2:37-38

"And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What means this?" When EVER in all of human history, was the world ready and expecting the things which God did among them? And though He is not far from anyone of us, and closer than our hands and feet; yet we have no way to know Him by all that He has made, except He draw us to the Light, and give us understanding and grace.

Dan. FC on 9-30-'16 - quote: "if you have a problem with what Jesus says, then you have a big problem." unquote. Matt.28:19 - "..... baptizing them in the NAME of ..... "; Acts 2:37 - Now when they heard this they were pricked in their heart ..... and said, men and brethren what shall we do?" v.38 - Then said unto them, Repent and baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins ..

    J. Claudio - You need to go to Jesus in prayer for HIS guidance in your ministry, not to people. People will give you THEIR ideas. Jesus told His disciples, Apostles to pray for His words to speak AFTER they r'cvd the power of the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost. You don't have His spirit or you would know this. I am NOT judging you; please believe that. I pray for God's wisdom for you.
  • C.Lee on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
As we use faith we should see Christ and the church that he gave his life for in a new light. God's Word ignites our hearts for worship and for reaching out to our world with the Gospel. The same Holy Spirit dwells in us and gives us power to be a light and impact in this dark world.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
Does anyone on here know that it was at least15 years after Jesus established His church in Acts ch. 2 that the epistles even BEGAN to be written, the 'epistles' being all the books after Acts. So where did all the scriptures come from that the apostles and disciples use to witness to people during those 15 yrs? Answer - from their knowledge of the O.T. and Jesus' 3 yr. ministry with them.
  • Arthur Angura on Acts 2 - 7 years ago
We must be born again if we want to see the Kingdom of God.
Before the day of Pentecost, the apostles had no POWER to do the will of God.
Jesus commanded the apostles not to leave Jerusalem, without the power of the Holy Ghost.
With man it is impossible, but not with God,for with God all things are possible.
We need power to witness,to pray,to understand the scriptures and to bear fruits .

I believe Satan is the author of confusion, GOD is not the author of confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33. As also in all his epistles Paul's letters to the churches he established in the BOOK OF ACTS , speaking in them of these things, in which are hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest twist , as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2 PETER 3:16. These letters were established in the Book of ACTS on PAUL'S missionary journeys. Study to shew thyself approved unto GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15. Acts 19:1-6. REMEMBER ALL SCRIPTURE IS BY INSPIRATION OF GOD! 2 Timothy 3:16. Read Ephesians 4:5, Galatians 1: 8-12.
