God is giving as his own faith to us as a GIFT TO UNDERSTAND AND OBEY HIS MESSAGE HE NEVER GIVES US ANY RISKS GOD'S GRACE AND HIS MERCY ENDURETH FOREVER. FAITH COMES ONLY BY HEARING THE WORDS OF GOD. LET'S PRAISE AND THANKS JESUS FOR THE BLOOD

Irene123, I agree that Aquila and Priscilla expounded the Scriptures more perfectly from the OT to Apollos. The couple had recently spent much time with the apostle Paul and were no doubt were very familiar with Jesus Christ his crucifixion, death, and resurrection which proved Christ is the messiah which Apollos debated and convinced the uJews publicly
    v28. Glory be to God!

Crocs, lizards, toads, frogs, these are 'just' MY opinion; I know they don't crawl on their belly, but their bellies DO touch the ground. The Bible does not say - snake.
  • Bud on Acts 18 - 7 years ago
Irene123: The other day you made a remark that serpent was not a snake for the are many creatures that crawl on their bellies. Would you let me know what other creature crawls on his belly. Thank you.

I never saw this before, the connection between this and 1 Cor.1:1 - Sosthenes. In Acts 17:18 which happened before Cor. 1:1, he was a priest in a Jewish synagogue. I guess, after being beaten - he became a Christian or he was a new Christian trying to reach his fellow Jews before being kicked out ..... ?
  • Irene123 on Acts 18 - 7 years ago
To Andrew, v. 24, 1 26 '15 - Apollos did know the O.T. all TRUE Jews did but there may have been a few N.T. scriptures circulating at his time but the N.T. wasn't even begun in writing until at least 15 yrs. after the start of the N.T. church in Acts ch. 2. Aquila Priscilla expounded the scriptures more perfectly all this could very well have been from just the O.T.
  • Irene123 on Acts 18 - 7 years ago
Some people seem to find that 'faith' is a risk; Strange - as God's word itself says that "..... without faith it is impossible to please Him." God would not give us something that was a - risk.

  • Jesse on Acts 18 - 7 years ago
From this chapter I've learned that if we walk with God and be in obedience He will be with us through any storm or trail in our life as He did with Paul,,Love His word.
  • Cheryl on Acts 18 - 7 years ago
Mamie - the term "pressed in the Spirit" is just another way of saying that God's conviction to do, or not to do, something, weighs heavy upon us. This has nothing to do with condemnation, but is conviction of the Spirit felt very strongly. Once I was reading the Word and God told me to do something. I wanted to finish reading the Word first, but had to go, and do, then He allowed me to finish.
  • Mamie on Acts 18 - 8 years ago
what did the verse 5,chapter 18 of acts mean when it said Paul was pressed in the spirit
  • Lilian on Acts 18 - 8 years ago
God is good all the time. He is watching his own words every time he spake all words comes from the Father. Jesus is the perfect obedience to the Father therefore we must also believe his words and obey them. Without obeying his words we cant recieve any blessing, healing, peace and life in abundance. God is a promising God to us and he will lay down his life for us. We are saved by his Grace. Amn

whom GOD kept is well kept and whom HE love is well loved. GOD said in his Holy Bible, I will never leave you nor forsake you, but will be with you to the end of the world. All we have to do is trust in Him and believe upon His words, AMEN.
  • Kathy on Acts 18 - 9 years ago
Acts 18 9 10 is a verse the holy spirit gave to me when I was going through a terrible separation. The Lord called me and told me that he would use all that I was to go through for the glory of Jesus! Since that time 12 to 20 family members have come to know Jesus through my faithfulness to God. Jesus also healed me totally of cancer. My life have been spared through many terrible car accidents. I 've been to Australia and have witnessed a little boy totally healed of breathing problems!I am remarried now after raising three adult children. And at 40 years old the Lord Jesus gave me another baby after my tubes were tied for 14 years. God is awesome and faithful to his promises. He promised to be with me and that I would not he have many people in every city of this world. I am never alone! Jesus Christ is the only answer for the world!
  • Christiano obinna nwator on Acts 18 - 9 years ago
What we from this chapter is that God will always speak when we are in his will, and also he will protect us from the evil ones, for he says "I have called you by your name you are mine, when you pass through sea I will be with you, when you pass through the rivers it will not overflow you and when you pass the fire it will not burn you even the heat will not scouch you for I am with you,He says "I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.Isaiah.43 1 3
  • Nyasha on Acts 18 - 9 years ago
In this chapter we see see that when the Jews rose against Paul...it was not because he had changed his message...the same he had been preaching for a year and half. At time even when right, you will be fought but its not a reason enough to leave the good you are doing because of opposition. vs 18 shows that after opposition, Paul tarried even longer and only left when it was time to do so. On verse 21 22 Paul is asked to stay but he does not stay...you don 't stay because man has persuaded you, neither do you leave because man has persecuted you...you only either stay or leave when God instructs!
  • Moses Njenga on Acts 18:9 - 9 years ago
Paul, you are the vessel that I will use to manifest the mystery of the Church to the gentiles, the devil will try to cause you to fear, resist him and speak what I will put in you.Your security is my concern. That is the nature of our GOD loving and catering.
  • MockingBird on Acts 18:9 - 9 years ago
When the Lord says to speak and hold not our peace then we are to speak that which He has commanded open and will be Blessed when the Lord says to not speak then we are not to speak Keep mouth shut and will be Blessed.
  • Dharam on Acts 18:9 - 9 years ago
A key and important thing is to know when to speak and when not to speak. Here God was telling Paul to speak forth boldly while at other times we were commissioned to hold our peace and let the Lord fight the battle. I conclude by saying that only God can help you in knowing when to speak and when not to speak.

Paul was one of the most high in Jew status. He knew the law. When got saved he realized the law could not save him. He realized salvation was in JESUS GHRIST.

  • Virginia Posthumus. on Acts 18 - 11 years ago
This is what amazes me, at a moment of questioning myself. Whether God has shown me a Vision or given me scripture. He answers is so spontaneous that there is absolutely no doubt at all. I found Faith is a risk but it pays the best devidence. In Jesus Name Amen.
