  • Peter A. Okebukola on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
God, not being One of confusion, showed Peter and Cornelius, similar visions at different times and in different locations. He brought the two together and there was a mighty outpouring of the Holy Ghost, followed by water baptism. A lesson here is the power of fasting- both Cornelius and Peter were fasting when they had their visions. A second lesson is to be able to heed God's Word.

Acts 10 :13-14 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. Now Peter is used to following the Old Testament Law. But God is making changes in the book of Act's. God told Peter that he can now eat meat. The book of Act's in a transitional Book, there are many changes happening.
  • Evangelist Andrew Kelly on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Disciple: Jesus already fulfilled the law. He died and arose again from the dead. You are out of context. Luke 24:44] And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
  • A disciple on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Ray; Jesus didn't come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; but to accomplish! There is nothing in the New Testament to indicate that there was a different Moshiach or a new religion; like many purport. But what we learn from ALL the Apostles, is that "this same Jesus whom I preach to you IS Christ." Remember when the Lord walked with the two disciples to Emmaus in Luke 24? He expounded all of it!
  • Ray321 on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Acts 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter kill, and eat. Peter was stuck in the Old Testament teaching of the Messiah. This is where Paul starts to take over later in the chapters. Paul will heal more others and have the Holy Ghost longer. There is a reason for that, only God knows.
  • A disciple on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
There are a lot of people with strange teachings; and many really think that we're allowed to interpret the Scriptures any way we want. But the Bible says, One Lord, One faith One baptism, etc... and that we are commanded to "Be of one mind, and all speak the same thing." You are right; Simon the Tanner was a Jew. It was the men who were sent by Cornelius who were not Jews.
  • The Father God's daughter-servant on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
In Jesus Christ, I greet you! I'm wondering, why do people say that Peter was contrary to Old Testament law when he lodged with Simon a tanner? Didn't the Jews in Old Testament time use animal skins for clothing? This occupation doesn't seem to violate the rule concerning touching the dead; there was a ceremonious custom to wash after touching the dead to bury them; tanners weren't noncompliant
  • A disciple on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Irene; good morning! Psalm 68:21 "But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses." In that magnificent Psalm Song of David, is prophesied the great Day of the LORD the KING; when God arises, and them that hate Him flee before Him. In it also is described the mysteries of the gifts of the Spirit that Jesus gave to us from on high.
  • Irene123 on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Disciple - "God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of .....; where does one find this scripture?
  • A dsiciple on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
AMEN BROTHER!!! So very good to read these words of truth! We are not what we used to be! Jesus said, "NOW YOU ARE CLEAN THROUGH THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU." If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (new creation); old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. God shall wound the head of His enemies, and the hairy scalp of such a one who goes on still in their sins.
  • Joseph Hackney on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
I HEAR SO MANY PEOPLE INCLUDING PASTOR'S WHO WILL CALL THEMSELVES "A SINNER SAVED BY GRACE"...... IM NO LONGER A SINNER. GOD HAS WASHED ME CLEAN AND MADE ME A NEW CREATION. THE CORRECT WAY TO SAY IT SHOULD BE " I "WAS" A SINNER WHO WAS SAVED BY GRACE. THIS ALSO CAN INCLUDE FORMER ADDICTS.. AN ADDICT WHO HAS BEEN DELIVERED ISN'T A "RECOVERING" ADDICT, TO SAY "RECOVERING" IS TO SAY THEY ARE STILL
  • Evangelist Evelyn Esike on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
God desire the salvation of all men that believed and fear the Lord .God love and favour those who truely repent of their sin and live a righteous life irrespective of tribe or nation. Peter vision is all about salvation , God is no respecter of person know what God has said and What God is saying. Obey the voice of God at all times trusting and believing what he comanded.Cornelius was an Italian.
  • Evangelist Evelyn Esike on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
God is no respectance of person, Nation or groups. know what God has said and what God is saying. Be obedient to God commands.
  • Irene123 on Acts 10 - 6 years ago
Mark 16:15-18; Preach the gospel. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, (Not, he that believes, and is saved should be baptized.)
  • Roger W on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
To me this proves that we are saved by grace through faith as Paul said, because they were filled with the Holy Spirit before being baptized in water.
  • James Johnson on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
A Pentecost for gentiles look at ch.2:38 their are no gentiles. But these received the Spirit as Peter was preaching. And Peter knew God was not a respecter of persons.Thank God all that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ can be saved. These were baptized after they were saved not to be saved but because they were saved. "For ye are saved by grace thru faith not of works least any man should boast."
  • Jenny on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
I just think Acts is amazing
  • Matt on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
The subject matter is about salvation for the Gentile races (6th day mankind and other non Israelites). Cornelius was an Italian; Peter was an Israelite. The unclean beasts/food symbolized the Gentile races, and the 4 cornered sheet meant all over the world. Anyone that believes on The Lord Jesus Christ is accepted by Him. That means even a Kenite can be saved, too, if they repent and believe.
  • Irene123 on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
Vs,13-16; this was a vision. It had to do with the apostles including the Gentiles along with their fellow Jews in witnessing of Jesus and His salvation. It had nothing to do with literal eating food. Peter may have actually consumed food the next a.m., but THAT is not germane to salvation - AT ALL.
  • Joe on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
Did Peter ever eat after food was offered him three times?
  • Skyler on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
    I love God sooooooo much
  • Arthur Angura on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
    Cornelius became born again.
God is Spirit,His worshippers must worship Him in truth and Spirit.
Peter became born again on the day of Pentecost.
Unless we are born again we can not.see the Kingdom ofGod.
  • Irene123 on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
To Jacob - I 'think' I get what you are saying; that Paul is the better of the 2 (Peter), to follow. I found 2 scriptures of Paul's that dispute following him - IF that is what you said ...? They're both in 1 Cor.ch.1. He speaks of this VERY thing and in the last verse makes it plain we are to follow - JESUS. ALL Bible scripture is His, not man's.
  • BSP on Acts 10 - 7 years ago
Verse 34, 35 shows God is not partial in any way and he does not judge based on any external appearances
  • Jacob on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
Peter was phased out by the Lord calling the apostle Paul to go to the Gentiles with the gospel of the grace of God Rom 11:13. If you are following Peter you need to sell your possessions and give to the poor Acts 2:42. If you are following Peter and the book of Acts, do you get the Holy Spirit by water baptism, Laying of hands Acts 8, or neither Acts 10:45. Follow Paul 1 Cor 11:1 see Rom 4:5.
  • Nene on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
In Matt.16:18-19 Jesus gave Peter the keys to heaven so whosoever follow the instructions that was given to Peter will be in the will of God.
  • Norm on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
John 3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. John 5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
  • Karl on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
responds to Norm; I thought I was clear, no need to hammer me with scripture. Paul was not one of the original apostles, only a student of. His epistles are a treasury of scripture, not disputing their merits. My problem was with in Book of acts, and Peter's words in particular, having received the gift of the Holy spirit, does it not read as if he was elevating himself and reducing the LORD?
  • Norm on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
" Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."
  • Norm on Acts 10 - 8 years ago
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
