1:1 Caius was probably that Caius of Corinth whom St. Paul mentions, #Rom 16:23|. If so, either he was removed from Achaia into Asia, or St. John sent this letter to Corinth.
1:3 For - I know thou usest all thy talents to his glory. The truth that is in thee - The true faith and love.
1:4 I have no greater joy than this - Such is the spirit of every true Christian pastor. To hear that my children walk in the truth - Caius probably was converted by St. Paul. Therefore when St. John speaks of him. with other believers, as his children, it may be considered as the tender style of paternal love, whoever were the instruments of their conversion. And his using this appellation, when writing under the character of the elder, has its peculiar beauty.
3Jo 1:2 Even as thy soul prospereth. He wishes Gaius all good things, but most of all prosperity of soul.
Zephaniah 2:3. Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
2 Corinthians 4:5-7. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Amen.
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
John 15:7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
King James Bible: If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Christian Standard Bible: If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
SO, if your lifestyle pleases God and you live 24/7 for God and you seek first the kingdom of God (matthew 6:33) then above ALL things you will prosper and be in good health. God cannot work with someone luke warm, he will vomit them from him (Revelation 3:16)
