Isn't it a blessing when you stuggle with something and somehow God always brings you the right answers? I needed this in my mind and God always opens up my eyes to see it.

Paul's strength in supporting Timothy is. Great. Timothy is my favourite disciple. I try to have an inner Timothy to be braver and trust in the lords grace and to live through. That grace. For without Jesus my life would be empty.

2 Timothy 2:3 "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a GOOD SOLDIER of JESUS CHRIST!!!"
But not only endure hardship, but CONQUER hardship!!! Paul states in verse 8 that GOD raised JESUS CHRIST from the dead. Thus CHRIST not only endured the hardness of hypocrites and the evil cross, but with FAITH in Our FATHER GOD, CHRIST with GOD CONQUERED the hardness of hypocrites and the evil cross (Rev. 1:18).

TO WILLIAM IVEY BILL, THE BIBLE HAS 3 PARTS PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE THE PAST WAS WRITTEN FOR AND TO THE JEWS, IT IS THEIR HISTORY, THAT PART IS FROM GENISIS TO THE MIDDLE OF ACTS. THE PRESENT IS WRITTEN BY PAUL TO THE GENTILES FOR JESUS. THIS PART ENDS WITH PHILEMON..THE REST IS TO THE JEWISH RELIGION AGAIN TO THE END. ALL THE BIBLE IS GOOD..WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND JESUS SAVED GENTILES BY FAITH .

    Bruce,
I agree w/you about staying in the Bible first. There's nothing wrong w/other books per se, but only after being grounded in truth. For example, there are some wonderful books on how to have a God pleasing marriage that I have read, but, as w/anything else, it needs to be filtered through the Scriptures first. As well, I have met folks who read other books solely to argue against the Bible.

MJF; I think that you try to say is, Don't be a hypocrite; i.e. putting forth a misleading appearance in order to conceal one's true nature and character. Next to that will have to be an honesty about one's own worthlessness and utter dependence on God's mercy; like the example of the Pharisee and the Publican praying in Luke 18. God loves truth; and has no respect for holier than thou impostors.

There are many false preachers, teachers and Bible scholars in the world; be "ware". Some have the gift of speech.. We must remember that the Lord is not impressed with gifts, but with those who live holy and righteous lives. Live what you teach or shut up! People need to see a living, walking, talking, loving and godly example in those professing to be holy Christian's. Put difference n life.

"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."A life of service in God, is a life of never turning back,"No man, having put his hand to the plow, AND LOOKING BACK, is fit for the kingdom of God." Cathy Cooper, strive lawfully means to compete according to the rules. Paul here is comparing the Christian walk to a race. If you cheat in a race, you are disqualified. If you sin, cheat others, etc. without repenting you will be disqualified from Heaven.
