1:5 Which dwelt - A word not applied to a transient guest, but only to a settled inhabitant. First - Probably this was before Timothy was born, yet not beyond St. Paul's memory.

2Ti 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee. As he looked back he saw Timothy from his youth up a believer. Which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice. His grandmother and mother had been converted before him, and he had followed them into the kingdom. See Ac 16:1.
