People's Bible Notes for 2 Thessalonians 2:6

2Th 2:6 Now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. They knew because Paul had told them when with them. We have not that advantage, but I believe that he told them that this development could not take place until pagan imperial Rome fell. We know that it did "withhold", or prevent it.

Hubert; The way I read it, every indication from Scripture is that the Coming of the Lord and the Catching Away of the Saints is all one event. Why else would the Lord warn us to not let men mislead us about there having to be a falling away first and the man of sin be revealed; and that we must endure to the end and be faithful unto death? After Noah entered the ark God didn't wait seven years!

"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled.." We are grateful for the small times of quiet and happiness; yet even in these we know there is certainly evil and trouble coming on the horizon. We have to walk with our hearts and minds with Christ in heaven Who is our expectation!
