    I hope that you will continue to read your Bible and this site and ask us any questions that you might have , your grandmother sounds like a wise one and she was trying to set you on the right path .

    Have been reading your bible that reads each chapter I find interesting and very useful. My grandmother who passed before the turn of the centry read the bible everyday when I was young and I have fond memories setting with her and talking about our lord the father. I am 68 years old soon to be 69 years old on April 3rd of this year and I have downloaded your app on my computer and cellphone and reading your bible I think of her and what she taught me. We had long talks and I miss her so and tears of memories tell me not to let her down reading about our heavenly father. Thank you for a chance to rekindle her memories of days long passed with her and pray I will be with her in paradise.

    Once again thank you, Sonja West

    Verse 17~David knew that the men risked their lives in order to fulfill David's desires, but he would not minimize what they did by simply accepting the water.

    Vivian, amen! For Jesus said in Luke 9:23, "And he said unto them, if anyman will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me". Glory be to God in the highest through our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

    in this verse i think that the Lord needs true worship from us,to be courageous and know that God is fighting for us. We need also to b obedient to Him as the three soldiers obeyed their Leader David and they were courageous no matter the philistines were in their camps so this calls on the cost of discipleship,we need to sacrifice no matter how the battle is hard but for God for he has victory.

    OUR SPIRIT AND THE SPIRIT OF GOD ARE ONE

    Taking 1st and 2nd Samuel 23 together we see the Trinity; verse one; the Holy Spirit, verse 2 the Father, and the Rock, Jesus Christ as HE is seen in many passages of the bible. Our Rock is Awesome in wonder glory, power and authority. The Trinity represents the God head in the bible. PRAISE GOD WHO WILL ALWAYS REMAIN ON HIGH AND OVER the hearts and lives of those that are surrendered to Him.

    Good question, Rob. I think they may have been genetically spliced men w/ lions. Sounds bizarre but all thru the ancient world we see reliefs showing bizarre amalgams of human/animals like the Sphinx and many others. The fallen angels gave forbidden knowledge to early humans and they built megaliths, practiced magic and were evil. Notice also that this verse is in conjunction w/ David's other mighty men's feats like slaying a giant or a multitude of men in one battle.

    @Rob,
    Lionlike simply means people who looked like lions in their appearance, calibre and strength.
    God bless you.

    What does the term 'lionlike' men mean?

    God said when a righteous man sins all his righteousness is forgotten as displayed in the elimination of Joabs name. Like Davids mighty men we need to stand and support our pastor.

    I notice Joab is not metioned as a mighty man. He must have been as valiant as his brothers.
