I love the Prophetic Protocol of Elisha, he knew that Elija is carrying something great that is y he followed him from Bethel to Jericho Until they crossed Jordan. That was the power of recognising Anointy in the servants of GOD, I PRAY THAT GOD MAY GIVE MY GENERATION THAT SAME SPIRIT OF TAKING FROM THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EVERLASTING KINGDOM

  • Grace Ameh on 2 Kings 2:21 - 8 years ago

  • Emmanuel Benjamin on 2 Kings 2 - 8 years ago
Yes! Elisha had double portion of the blessings of Prophet Elijah, but Elisha lacked something in him which was the kingdom of heaven,he only demanded for the mantle, but did not want to go the way his master left to heaven through a whirlwind. And his master gave him the opportunity to ask of anything but he only asked for the mantle, then what about the kingdom Heaven?
  • Mary on 2 Kings 2 - 8 years ago
To those negative about God where do you find more than 42 children hanging around picking on people passing thru but in a gang. Note there were more than 42 children, and note that two bears harmed 42 of them, why didn't more of them run? Most likely it was a gang of children who thought they could stand up to the bears and ended up harmed. God is great and you can believe there is more to the story of the prophet that was being verbally abused by a gang of young people only God knows what would have happened to him if the bears didn't come to distract them.
  • James Greene on 2 Kings 2:9 - 8 years ago

  • Esi Newman on 2 Kings 2:12 - 8 years ago
This is exactly how the rapture will be. Within a twinkle of an eye.
  • Ray Mendoza on 2 Kings 2:23 - 8 years ago
Notice how the passage lacks fluidity with the verses before and after? Seems to be thrown in there for no apparent reason as it has nothing to do with the context of passages surrounding it. And why is it that a curse so simply verbalized then immediately bringing about the consequence of said curse and yet when persecuted by the royal court and Baals prophets these men of God fled in hiding Elijah . Why not just curse them?
  • Gabrial Delu on 2 Kings 2 - 8 years ago
these chapter clearly demostrate the GOD 'S power bestowed on a believer like ELIJA, of which upon his depature to heaven unusual transfered that power bestowment to his spiritual son ELISHA to continue with the miracles of GOD

What releases the double portion? When he asked for a double portion, Elisha was asking for an inheritance reserved for the eldest child. Deuteronomy 21:17 He must acknowledge the son of his unloved wife, as the first born by giving him a double share of all he has. That son is the first sign of his fathers strenght. The right of the firstborn belongs to him. This verse describes the institution of the Law of the first born. In other words, the eldest son was entitled, by inheritance, to a double portion. When he asked for a double portion, Elisha was not making a flippant request. He was asking as a son, because he considered Elijah a father! He was in the potion of a son, an as such, was entitled to a double portion from Elijah. There is no double portion without a father.

Elisha knew that healing the water contained in their stores would not deal with the whole problem thus he went to the spring. much as the church, today, has the role to provide necessities to the needy and marginalised, it has a very big role to play in changing the economy for this is the source of all problems
  • Precious Erhabor from burgos on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
2kings2v9, reveals that a servant of God should learn how to look up to God not through men. That was what elijah means by the saying if you see me being taken, you shall have a double portion
  • DeeDee on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
Verses 23 24 are a shocking highlight on the seriousness of raising children without teaching them respect for their elders, those in authority and most importantly the absolute power of God.
  • Ozias Kalundu jr. on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
Those who walk with the Prophets deserve to receive the annointing from the Prophets. The important thing is to be attentive, and remain with them up to the last minute.
  • Nenerai on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
Elisha ask the double potion of spiritual from his Elijah becouse Elijah was used by God
  • Amaka Uzo on 2 Kings 2:2 - 9 years ago
what l learn from the story of Elisha is we need to be watchful because Elijah said when you see me taken away from you but he was waiting for the mantle another he did not know the level of anoiting he received that is why he useless it on kids commanding bears to tear them up
  • Wiseman on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
When we pray we must always pray for double to God and if we obey and having faith in him he gives you even the one that you didn 't ask for it blessed beyond measures.
  • Bisi on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
That was the era of prophet and prompt judgement, we are now in the dispensation of Grace, though God still judge sin but gives room to repentance and restitution, let us all depart from evil deeds. What if Elisha was distracted by the circumstances around him then? He would never have had a fulfilled ministry, what a lesson to all of us the believers of today
  • Waniala benedictor on 2 Kings 2 - 9 years ago
in all our prayers, we should pray for double portion of annointing and always be persistant on our goals not to give up, if Elijah had given due to mocks, he wouldnot be annointed! i will get tight on my goal till an double annointed

  • Zeus Hamilton on 2 Kings 2:24 - 10 years ago
The bad children mocked poor Elisha and called him "bald head ". It is rude. It is a crime. And they should be punished. These naughty kids really needs a firm hand. They deserved to be mistreated by these bears. The bears are pets for God. God has power over the bears. And if someone provokes his messenger, he releases the bears. I hope the bad children learned their lesson. God loves us
  • Robby on 2 Kings 2 - 10 years ago
. Elisha did not curse little children, as the King James Version translates the phrase ( II Kings 2:23). The Hebrew expression frequently connotes young, unmarried men of any age up to about thirty. This was evidently a gang of young hoodlums, instigated by the heathen priests of Baal to ridicule Elijahs successor. The jeering exhortation to go up, thou baldhead ( II Kings 2:23) was both a sarcastic reference to Elijahs supposed ascension (which they disbelieved) and a personal insult to Gods chosen prophet. This challenge to Jehovah and the authority of His prophet could not be excused, so God made good on a warning issued long before: And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me;...I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children ( Leviticus 26:21-22). (Study Bible)

Though out the Scriptures, God commanded men, women, children, animals be put to death. The children who were mocking the prophet had not been trained in respect and honor, the parents were responsible for the training of their children.
  • Johnny Smith on 2 Kings 2 - 10 years ago
the teaches us to give respect to whom respect
is due. A disobedient child's life is not long upon
this earth. What God says He means, but He wills
that none perish but all cometo repentance.
  • Stephen Abraham(from Nigeria) on 2 Kings 2 - 10 years ago
God has a way of dealing with people, mostly people that rebel...remember what happened to the people that rebel against moses in the wilderness?....the ground open and swallowed them up...God said "touch not my anoited and do my prophet no harm"
  • Babila elvis on 2 Kings 2:21 - 10 years ago
2 Kings 2:21. I personally love this particular verse of the bible that inspire me so much
  • Traci H on 2 Kings 2 - 10 years ago
It doesn't say how Elisha felt about the children being killed. I would imagine he was horrified. No one could watch that and not be affected. Judgement is not pretty. Elijah told Elisha that a double portion of his spirit would be a hard thing. Not a hard thing to give but a hard thing to take. The next chapter is years later. I'm sure it took some time to learn to deal with his gift.
  • Martha Prince on 2 Kings 2 - 11 years ago
@ Matt II Kings 2:23-24 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them

Nowhere in this scripture does it say that God killed the 42 children.

@Kristy Atchley,,,the God we serve is a loving and forgiving God yet it is the New Testament where we find more written about forgiveness. Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Also, Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
