    God is a Jealous God.

God wan us to come to Him and Him alone, it is disrespectful of us to GOD almighty to go after other gods, because these gods are noting to compere to our GOD. in all situation GOD want to take all the glory over our lives, because our GOD is a jealous GOD. Thank you.

If we look at what happened here,we will know that the way God answered His minister in the past was by a second or immediate effect like this prophet and others.Because of command tone of Elijah here. But right now, some men of God will pray hard for many days before Creator answer a single word which means God closer in olden days than this time.Either because of sins or because of selfishness. Now, some leaders seek deviners before getting to power and still they suvive.Why?.Though,God be with His own people but not like people of the middle age.

    We should not move unless
God tells us to. We should
    obey God rather than man.
  • Sylvanus Ibanga on 2 Kings 1:12 - 10 years ago
Useful to the vessels of honor!
  • Timothy Wayne George on 2 Kings 1 - 10 years ago
Ahaziah's failure to call on the true God Jehovah, and instead called on Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether he would recover from the disease caused Elijah to tell him he would surely die. We today must call on the true God Jehovah to lift us out of the political crisis which is a disease. When King Hezekiah was told he was going to die, he called on Jehovah God, and the Lord added fifteen years to his life. We pray that our leaders will humble themselves and pray, seek Jehovah God's face, and turn from their wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal the land.
  • Kenneth on 2 Kings 1:12 - 10 years ago
This is all about the integrity to go forward or excel in the things of God and never come down! But once once you continue in the things of God and refuse to listen to those voices, God will always lift you up. Job 22:29. The enemy will be disappointed. Job 5:12. No matter what happens, keep trusting God; and you will always prevail.
  • Agnon on 2 Kings 1 - 10 years ago
it is obvious that the stricken king has strayed away from the one God Yahuweh and has aligned himself with the Satanical god Baalzebub. This unholy alliance could only result in king Ahaziah's demise.
  • David Orabueze on 2 Kings 1 - 10 years ago
Every man of God deserves respect nomatter how small, big, old, or young he might be. they came to him with human authority while he (Elija) responded with spiritual authority that commeth from above. Again in any situation you find your self first consult God and not the oracle of vilage
  • Luis Martinez on 2 Kings 1 - 10 years ago
All the other translations rephrase 1:3 as Is it because there is no God in Israel that you go ask...
but I'm not quite sure that is what it means. He knows that there is a God in Israel, which is why he keeps sending 50 men after 50, after 50. He wants Baalzebub's help and approval.
  • Bakari on 2 Kings 1 - 10 years ago
if you respect GOD then you must respect man of GOD
  • MKHULULI NDLOVU on 2 Kings 1 - 11 years ago
I really wonder why we fail to trust God completely! Can somebody help me on this way? Truly this was the attitude of the King Ahaziah!
  • Omoboye s on 2 Kings 1 - 11 years ago
Woe unto he that put his trust in man. Secondly, the sorrow of he that follows other gods will be multiplied. This is implication of the king's action.

We must trust, respect and worship God. The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost IS God and deserves our worship. In all things God is FIRST.
  • RALPH M. WATERS on 2 Kings 1 - 11 years ago
After reading this chapter, I think on "RESPECT". Elijah, being a Man of GOD, was deservant of respect. However, He had to demonstrate the power of a Man of God. After the death of 102 men, He was given that respect.
In our society, most look at Priest, Minister, or Clergy, as Men of God. However, as we just read in a previous chapter we have Lying Spirits. A Man of God actions reveals whether he is deservant to be called a Man of God or a Man with a Lying Spirit with a position.

I don't see a reason for these insults to God why could they not just obey his command? But with every choice comes a conceqwence all we have to do is take it willingly .
  • Fachann davis on 2 Kings 1 - 12 years ago
it was irreverance to God and an insult to him that the King would do so as to inquire of a false god and it brought judjment
  • Eva on 2 Kings 1 - 12 years ago
Its ashame course despite of all chances the King still did not use the opportunity he had having such a great God and asking for help from other false gods. I take this as a very big lesson that in any situation we must speak to God first before speaking to others but first we have a pact with Him.
  • Randy on 2 Kings 1 - 13 years ago
We see here that God is not only a jealous god but also a gracious God if we trust him in all things whether up or down
  • Marsha on 2 Kings 1 - 13 years ago
God was angry that man trust the word of man with a false god instead of trusting Him..
