This chapter is a great example of how our gifting through the love of God should be to fellow Christians that there be no lack and that equality exist among all Christians. God help us!

The God of our salvAtion NEVER applies pressure. Any work or gift accounted for the salvAtion of souls comes from the heart of the person to whom God has given the word that He will never take us beyond that which we are able. Pressure is not of the Lord. If pressure were a work given to a soul winner we 'd have no problem soulwinning.

Abound in every thing: grace, faith, knowledge, diligence and love. "Love one another, as I have loved you", was Jesus' final commandment. Live and love in the realm of holiness, and the God of all love, and peace shall be with you.

While many religions focus on an external ministry, Paul reminded us of the need of an internal ministry. This can be a caring of those taking the lead among us, but also our fellow brothers and sisters. ( Vs. 6) We are not asked to give beyond our means, but to whatever we can reasonably give. So, continue the generous spirit, but never be pressured to give beyond what you can.

Appeal made for the poor and needy Saints in Jerusalem: Paul encourages people at Corinth give liberally. Corinthians Christians abounded in many things: other graces: had example of Christ’s giving, encouraging give unselfishly: Macedonian churches been generous:Titus to Corinth: collection. Paul recommends him and his companions: God will bless them for giving: and it will give glory to God!

Vicki, another meaning would be: we do you to wit (to know) of the grace of God. Amen
  • A disciple on 2 Corinthians 8 - 6 years ago
Wit means know or knowledge; like in the saying, At my wits end. A more clear translation would read: "But, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God..." (Wycliffe Bible)

I’d like to know what “we do you to wit” means. I know there’s supposed to be a built in dictionary but I can’t figure it out.

2 Corinthians 8:15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over and he that had gathered little had no lack. I praised the Lord for what little I have. I thank God for struggles in life, for it helps me grow in the Lord.

Isaiah 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Life is short. Of course, this is a common truth, but do we often remember about it? How can we feel the value of life staying at home? They say if you don't like the place where you are - move, you're not a tree after all. By the same principle, I want to say that traveling - is an important component of fulfilling life. Let's not waste life without avail but explore this wonderful planet! It rem

i had a crazy experience this easter, I did some things I hoped were alright though something told me they weren 't. I felt very much ashamed by my obvious realisation that I was wrong and it was a disgusting feeling for a person in my position. I came to God and said I was sorry, asked Him to help me, then read chapter 7 of 2nd Corinthians then concluded on this very chapter. Chapter 7 encourages us to move forward from our wrong and specifically verses 11 and 12 for me, encourage not only thinking of doing good or right but executing the good deeds and works. not to procrastinate my intention to show repentance but putting it to action! I 'm amazed at how God talks to us. I feel encouraged, if Jesus could ignore the weight of leaving his glory for my feeble soul I owe Him this: my loyal repentance! be blessed to be a blessing today!

We have seen known the richness of His mercy that christ 's all sufficient grace obtained unlimited wealth for us His children through His poverty by mingling with mere humans on earth though He had allthings in all sufficiency in heaven.

I think I sometimes miss out on the fullness of what verse 9 is really saying to me. Colossians 1 16 reminds me that everything in heaven as well as all things on earth where created by him and for him. He left his home in glory, to come into this sin cursed world. He could say of himself that he had no place to even lay his head. To seek, search and find me.. And all or any who believe. John 3 16. Sometimes I place more value on my material gains than I should. He placed more value on us over all that he owned. Which is everything in existence. He gave all he had for everyone of us. Hallelujah what a Savior! What am I doing with his sacrifice? May God help us to store up our treasures in heaven and not make ourselves comfortable in the material perishing things of this soon passing world that rejected the Son or God.

I am proud of my Lord Jesus Christ, for He took away spiritual poverty from me. The richness of this world is a bonus for my acceptance of him Jesus .Oh yes, yes i am both spiritually and materially rich because he was made poor in both spheres for me.
